Mass spectrometric results indicate that thermolysis of NH₄HCO₃ results in the formation of the radical cation CH₂O+· 3 (I), (m/z 62).

(SeO₃)₄ is shown to be the major species in the vapour above heated selenium trioxide, while above mixtures of H2SeO4/P2O5 significant portions of monomeric SeO₃ are observed.

Polychloride monoanions [Cl_n]^‐ (n = 3, 5, 7, 9) stabilized by quaternary ammonium salts are obtained through the addition or condensation of an excess of dry chlorine to [NMe₄]Cl, [NEt₄]Cl, [NPr₄]Cl, or [NBu₄]Cl and characterized by Raman spectroscopy and state‐of‐the‐art quantum chemical calculations up to the CCSD(T) level.

DFT calculations show that the most stable Ag₇ cluster is a pentagonal bipyramid, whereas synthesized Ag₇ clusters are planar due to interactions with ligands as revealed by Raman and UV/VIS spectroscopy.

The formation of the new compounds PbTeO₃, PbTe₂O₅, Pb₂TeO₄, and Pb₂Te₂O₆ is observed in the gas phase by heating a mixture of solid PbO and TeO₂ at 1063 K using a mass-spectrometric Knudsen-cell method.
