If a heat transfer coefficient is dependent on the wall temperature it is usually calculated by an iterative technique. Starting from an earlier iteration-free method which was developed for air-cooled heat exchangers and the cooling of viscous oils, an improved procedure is derived for convective cooling or heating of liquids. Furthermore, it is shown how the local heat transfer coefficient can also be calculated without iteration in the corresponding cases of combined radiation and convection. 相似文献

Two sets of aluminum foam cylinders, 5 and 15 mm thick, are being tested in two-row and three-row bundles for their thermo-hydraulic performance. The bundles are formed using fixed transversal and longitudinal pitch distances and subject to airflow between 0.5 and 5.0 at 0.5 m s?1 interval under cross-flow. The effects of foam layer thickness and the number of row under staggered configuration are investigated. Thermo-hydraulic results are benchmarking against those of a conventional finned tube bundle of similar dimensions with pre-determined number of fins and assembled using the same pitch distances.

Analytical methods have been developed to determine sulfur species concentrations in natural geothermal waters using Reagent-Free™ Ion Chromatography (RF™-IC), titrations and spectrophotometry. The sulfur species include SO42−, S2O32−, and ∑S2− with additional determination of SO32− and SxO62− that remains somewhat semiquantitative. The observed workable limits of detections were ≤0.5 μM depending on sample matrix and the analytical detection limits were 0.1 μM. Due to changes in sulfur species concentrations upon storage, on-site analyses of natural water samples were preferred. Alternatively, the samples may be stabilized on resin for later elution and analysis in the laboratory. The analytical method further allowed simultaneous determination of other anions including F−, Cl−, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and NO3− without sample preservation or stabilization. The power of the newly developed methods relies in routine analysis of sulfur speciation of importance in natural waters using techniques and facilities available in most laboratories doing water sample analysis. The new methods were successfully applied for the determination of sulfur species concentrations in samples of natural and synthetic waters. 相似文献

Summary Strong anion exchangers can be transformed to the hydroxyl forms by elution with analytical grade sodium hydroxide. The residual chloride contents remain above the 0.1% level. Such chloride amounts can rapidly and easily be determined with a radiochemical method using 110mAg as tracer. This method was compared with neutron activation and potentiometric titration methods.

Dawsonite-type compounds of formula MAl(OH)2CO3 (M=Na,K,NH4) were hydrothermally synthesized. The influences of the composition of starting materials, reaction temperature, acidity of the reaction medium on the formation, morphology and particle size of MAl(OH)2CO3 powders were systematically investigated. The experiment results show that increase in the amount of MHCO3 favors the formation of MAl(OH)2CO3 phase with more slender particle morphology. The higher the reaction temperature, the grosser the particle is. It was also demonstrated that the particle size of the MAl(OH)2CO3 phase are most uniform when the pH value of reaction system is 10.3 for sodium dawsonite and potassium dawsonite, but it is 9.79 for that of ammonium dawsonite. The thermodynamics of the formation of dawsonite-type compounds have also been analyzed in details. 相似文献

Summary The gases evolved from geothermal fields, after condensation of H2O, CO2, H2S and NH3 in caustic solution, contain He, H2, Ar, O2, N2, CH4 and higher hydrocarbons. The analysis for the major components in these residual gas mixtures can be achieved by use of two simple gas chromatographs in parallel, and using 5Å molecular sieve. The separation of He and H2 to baseline is achieved by using low temperatures (30°C) coupled with a relatively long column; and the difficult separation of Ar and O2 is achieved by use of a cryogenically cooled column. The use of switching valves to backflush and bypass columns ensures that a minimum time for analysis can be achieved whilst retaining baseline separations of the He/H2 and Ar/O2 pairs. 相似文献

Low capacity anion exchangers for IC have been prepared by modification of nonporous uniformed silica MICRA microbeads and by modification of the organic polymeric monolithic matrixes prepared in situ in quarz capillary. Due to the small particle size (1.5 microm) high-performance adsorbents were prepared allowing to obtain up to 190,000 tp/m. However, the column possesses a very high back-pressure and can be used in a short length up to 50 mm only to meet the requirements of conventional chromatographic equipment. An analysis of a test mixture of seven anions was completed within 3 min with a back column pressure of about 350 bar (HETP of about 5.5 microm, where HETP is the height equivalent to the theoretical plate). Monolithic capillary columns provide lower efficiency per column unit length than MICRA columns; however, they can be used at a longer length because of their low flow resistance. Monolithic column of ca. 40 cm length has workable pressure below 10 bar and allows separation of a five anions test mixture within less than 10 min. A better efficiency of monolithic column (HETP approximately 75 microm) can be achieved at reduced flow rates when the analysis time is not a critical parameter. 相似文献
