An ordered linear spaceL is said to satisfy extension property (E1) if for every directed subspaceM ofL and positive linear functional ϕ onM, ϕ can be extended toL. A Riesz spaceL is said to satisfy extension property (E2) if for every sub-Riesz spaceM ofL and every real valued Riesz homomorphism ϕ onM, ϕ can be extended toL as a Riesz homomorphism. These properties were introduced by Schmidt in [5]. In this paper, it is shown that an ordered linear space has extension property (E1) if and only if it is order isomorphic to a function spaceL′ defined on a setX′ such that iff andg belong toL′ there exists a finite disjoint subsetM of the set of functions onX′ such that each off andg is a linear combination of the points ofM. An analogous theorem is derived for Riesz spaces with extension property (E2).  相似文献

The object of this paper is to prove the following theorem: Let Y be a closed subspace of the Banach space X, (S,Σ,μ) a σ-finite measure space, L(S,Y) (respectively, L(S, X)) the space of all strongly measurable functions from S to Y (respectively, X), and p a positive number. Then L(S,Y) is pointwise proximinal in L(S,X) if and only if Lp(μ,Y) is proximinal in Lp(μ,X). As an application of the theorem stated above, we prove that if Y is a separable closed subspace of the Banach space X, p is a positive number, then Lp(μ,Y) is proximinal in Lp(μ,X) if and only if Y is proximinal in X. Finally, several other interesting results on pointwise best approximation are also obtained.  相似文献

Abstract

Using a lifting of £ (μ, X) ([5],[6]), we construct a lifting ρ x of the seminormed vector space £ (μ, X) of measurable, essentially bounded X-valued functions. We show that in a certain sense such a lifting always exists. If μ is Lebesgue measure on (0, 1) we show that ρ x exists as map from £ ((O, 1), X) → £,((0, l), X) if and only if X is reflexive. In general the lifted function takes its values in X **. Therefore we investigate the question, when f ε £ (μ, X) is strictly liftable in the sense that the lifted function is a map with values even in X.

As an application we introduce the space £ strong (μ, L (X, Y**)), a subspace of the space of strongly measurable, essentially bounded L (X, Y, **)-valued functions, and the associated quotient space £ strong (μ, L (X,Y**)). We show that this space is a Banach space because there is a kind of a Dunford-Pettis Theorem for a subspace of L (X, £(μ Y**)). Finally we investigate the measurability property of functions in £(μ Y**)) und see that there exists a connection to the Radon-Nikodym property of the space L (X, Y).  相似文献

For every uniformly convex Banach spaceX with dimX2 there is a residual setU in the Hausdorff metric spaceB(X) of bounded and closed sets inX such that the metric projection generated by a set fromU is two-valued and upper semicontinuous on a dense and everywhere continual subset ofX. For any two closed and separated subsetsM 1 andM 2 ofX the points on the equidistant hypersurface which have best approximations both inM 1 andM 2 form a dense G set in the induced topology. The author is partially supported by the National Fund for Scientific Research at the Bulgarian Ministry of Science and Education under contract MM 408/94.  相似文献

We consider some problems concerning the L p,q -cohomology of Riemannian manifolds. In the first part, we study the question of the normal solvability of the operator of exterior derivation on a surface of revolution M considered as an unbounded linear operator acting from Lpk (M) into Lk+1q (M). In the second part, we prove that the first L p,q-cohomology of the general Heisenberg group is nontrivial, provided that p < q. Let SM k be the Polynominal splines of degree n-1, and with K segments. If f∈ C n [a,b],then the distance in the Lp-norm form(0< p ≦ ∞)of from S M k is boundedby M/K n , with a much smaller M than in similar estimates for other processes of approximation.  相似文献

For a “generic” submanifoldS of a complex manifoldX, we show that there exists a hypersurfaceMS which has the same number of negative (or positive) Levi-eigenvalues asS at one prescribed conormal (cf. also [9]). When ranksL S is constant, thenM may be found such thatL M andL S have the same number of negative eigenvalues at any common conormal. Assuming the existence of a hypersurfaceM with the above property, we then discuss the link between complex submanifolds ofS whose tangent plane belongs to the null-space of the Levi-formL S ofS (of all complex submanifolds whenL S is semi-definite), and complex submanifolds ofT S * X. As an application we give a simple result on propagation of microanalyticity for CR-hyperfunctions along complex,L S -null, curves (cf. [3]).  相似文献

Given an M-valued equality E: X×XM on a set X, we extend it to the M-valued equality ε: L X × L X M on the L-powerset L X of X, where L is a complete sublattice of a GL-monoid M. As a result, we come to a category SET(M,L) whose objects are quadruples (X,E,L X , ε). This category serves as a ground category for the category L-TOP(M) of (L,M)-valued topological spaces and some of its subcategories, which are the main subject of this paper. In particular, as special cases, we obtain here Chang-Goguen, Lowen, Kubiak-Šostak, and some other known categories related to fuzzy topology. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 11, No. 4, pp. 237–247, 2005.  相似文献

LetX be any compact convex subset of a locally convex Hausdorff space andE be a complex Banach space. We denote byA(X, E) the space of all continuous and affineE-valued functions defined onX. In this paper we prove thatX is a Choquet simplex if and only if the dual ofA(X, E) is isometrically isomorphic by a selection map toM m (X, E*), the space ofE*-valued,w*-regular boundary measures onX. This extends and strengthens a result of G. M. Ustinov. To do this we show that for any compact convex setX, each element of the dual ofA(X, E) can be represented by a measure inM m (X, E*) with the same norm, and this representation is unique if and only ifX is a Choquet simplex. We also prove that ifX is metrizable andE is separable then there exists a selection map from the unit ball of the dual ofA(X, E) into the unit ball ofM m (X, E*) which is weak* to weak*-Borel measurable. This work will constitute a portion of the author's Ph.D. Thesis at the University of Illinois.  相似文献

Let M be a type I von Neumann algebra with the center Z, and a faithful normal semi-finite trace τ. Consider the algebra L(M, τ) of all τ-measurable operators with respect to M and let S 0(M, τ) be the subalgebra of τ-compact operators in L(M, τ). We prove that any Z-linear derivation of S 0(M, τ) is spatial and generated by an element from L(M, τ).   相似文献

On the Hardy space over the bidisk H2(D2), the Toeplitz operators and are unilateral shifts of infinite multiplicity. A closed subspace M is called a submodule if it is invariant for both and . The two variable Jordan block (S1, S2) is the compression of the pair to the quotient H2(D2) ⊖M. This paper defines and studies its defect operators. A number of examples are given, and the Hilbert-Schmidtness is proved with good generality. Applications include an extension of a Douglas-Foias uniqueness theorem to general domains, and a study of the essential Taylor spectrum of the pair (S1, S2). The paper also estabishes a clean numerical estimate for the commutator [S1*, S2] by some spectral data of S1 or S2. The newly-discovered core operator plays a key role in this study.  相似文献

We prove that for any free ergodic nonsingular nonamenable action Γ?(X,μ)Γ?(X,μ) of all Γ   in a large class of groups including all hyperbolic groups, the associated group measure space von Neumann algebra L(X)?ΓL(X)?Γ has L(X)L(X) as its unique Cartan subalgebra, up to unitary conjugacy. This generalizes the probability measure preserving case that was established in Popa and Vaes (in press) [38]. We also prove primeness and indecomposability results for such crossed products, for the corresponding orbit equivalence relations and for arbitrary amalgamated free products M1?BM2M1?BM2 over a subalgebra B of type I.  相似文献

Let S be a locally compact semigroup, let ω be a weight function on S, and let Ma (S, ω) be the weighted semigroup algebra of S. Let L0 (S;Ma (S, ω)) be the C*‐algebra of allMa (S, ω)‐measurable functions g on S such that g /ω vanishes at infinity. We introduce and study an Arens multiplication on L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))* under which Ma (S, ω) is a closed ideal. We show that the weighted measure algebra M (S, ω) plays an important role in the structure of L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))*. We then study Arens regularity of L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))* and ist relation with Arens regularity of Ma (S, ω), M (S, ω) and the discrete convolution algebra 1(S, ω). As the main result, we prove that L0 (S;Ma (S, ω))* is Arens regular if and only if S is finite, or S is discrete and Ω is zero cluster. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In classical topology it is proved, nonconstructively, that for a topological space X, every bounded Riesz map ϕ in C(X) is of the form for a point xX. In this paper our main objective is to give the pointfree version of this result. In fact, we constructively represent each real Riesz map on a compact frame M by prime elements. Given a vector measure ν with values in a Banach space X, we consider the space L1(ν) of real functions which are integrable with respect to ν. We prove that every order continuous Banach function space Y continuously contained in L1(ν) is generated via a certain positive map related to ν and defined on X* x M, where X* is the dual space of X and M the space of measurable functions. This procedure provides a way of defining Orlicz spaces with respect to the vector measure ν.  相似文献

Summary Here we prove the following result. Fix integersq, τ,a’, b’, a’ i, 1≤i≤τ,a’, b’, a’ i, 1≤i≤τ; then there is an integerew such that for every integertw, for every algebraically closed fieldK for every smooth complete surfaceX with negative Kodaira dimension, irregularityq andK X 2 =8(1−q)−τ, the following condition holds; ifXS is a sequence fo τ blowing-downs which gives a relatively minimal model with ruling ρ:SC, take as basis of the Neron Severi groupNS(X) a smooth rational curve which is the total transform of a fiber ofC, the total transform of a minimal section of ρ and the total transformD i, 1≤i≤τ, of the exceptional curver; then for everyH andL∈Pic (X) withH ample,H (resp.L) represented by the integersa’, b’, a’ i, (resp.a’, b’, a’ i), 1≤i≤τ, in the chosen basis ofNS(X) the moduli spaceM(ZX, 2,H, L, t) of rank 2H-stable vector bundles onX with determinantL andc 2=t is generically smooth and the number, dimension and ?birational structure? of the irreducible components ofM(X, 2,H, L, t)red do not depend on the choice ofK andX. Furthermore the birational structure of these irreducible components can be loosely described in terms of the birational structure of the components of suitableM(S, 2,H’, L’, t’)red withS a relatively minimal model ofX.

If X is a Banach space such that Π1(X,l 1) = Π2 (X, l 1), we prove the following results: 1) A bounded sequence (x n ) lies inside the range of some X-valued measure if and only if the operator (α n ) ? l 1 → Σ n α n x n ? X is 1-summing, and 2) If A is a bounded subset of X lying in the range of some X ??-valued measure, then A is necessarily contained in the range of some X-valued measure.  相似文献
