We show that ifb andb are two boundary conditions (b.c.) for general spin systems on d such that the difference in the energies of a spin configuration in d is uniformly bounded, |H ,b ()–H ,b()|C < , then any infinite-volume Gibbs states and obtained with these b.c. have the same measure-zero sets. This implies that the decompositions of and into extremal Gibbs states are equivalent (mutually absolutely continuous). In particular, if is extremal,=. Application of this observation yields in an easy way (among other things) (a) the uniqueness of the Gibbs states for one-dimensional systems with forces that are not too long-range; (b) the fact that various b.c. that are natural candidates for producing non-translation-invariant Gibbs states cannot lead to such an extremal Gibbs state in two dimensions.Supported in part by NSF Grant PHY 78–15920 and by the Swiss National Foundation For Scientific Research.  相似文献

The determination of foil thickness by stereomicroscopy technique is discussed. The calculation of the foil thickness is performed in a general position of the foil in an electron microscope for a general choice of the marker position. In this case the crystallographic orientation of the foil normal has to be known. But there exists a special case (markers lie in the diffraction plane) where it is not necessary to know the orientation of the foil normal. We consider KAM invariant curves for generalizations of the standard map of the form (x, y)=(x+y, y+f(x)), wheref(x) is an odd trigonometric polynomial. We study numerically their analytic properties by a Padé approximant method applied to the function which conjugates the dynamics to a rotation +. In the complex plane, natural boundaries of different shapes are found. In the complex plane the analyticity region appears to be a strip bounded by a natural boundary, whose width tends linearly to 0 as tends to the critical value.  相似文献

Given a one-parameter familyf (x) of maps of the interval [0, 1], we consider the set of parameter values for whichf has an invariant measure absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure. The sticking process dt + n, which constitutes the most severe limit to the number of fusions which a muon can catalyze, is reviewed. Many attempts were made to determine by calculations and measurements the probability for initial sticking s 0 (immediately after dt fusion) and for final sticking s (after the came to rest). Previous results based on neutron disappearance rates and on the observation of -X-rays were controversial and also in some disagreement with theory. New data are reported from PSI on direct observation of final sticking, using a setup with the St. Petersburg ionization chamber. These data mark a significant improvement in reliability and may clarify questions concerning previous discrepancies. The new results is s(0.56±0.04)%, lower than the theory prediction s=(0.65±0.03)%, at medium density.  相似文献

The rare-earth site of samples having the compositions (Fe,Cu)Sr2(Eu,Ce) n Cu2O4+2n+z (n=2 and 3) were studied by151Eu Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results obtained are compared with measurements of EuBa2Cu3O7– (123) and Bi2Sr2(Ca1–yEuy)Cu2O8+E (2212) samples. The full quadrupole Hamiltonian of the 21.5-keV -transition was applied in analyzing the measured spectra. Simultaneous fitting of spectra recorded from crystallites oriented in various directions was used to determine the hyperfine parameters of then= 2 and 3 samples. Two different electric field gradients, not discernible in simple random crystallite measurements, were obtained for then=3 series.  相似文献

A geometrical gravitational theory based on the connection ={ } + ln + lng ln is developed. The field equations for the new theory are uniquely determined apart from one unknown dimensionless parameter 2. The geometry on which our theory is based is an extension of the Weyl geometry, and by the extension the gravitational coupling constant and the gravitational mass are made to be dynamical and geometrical. The fundamental geometrical objects in the theory are a metricg and two gauge scalars and. Physically the gravitational potential corresponds tog in the same way as in general relativity, the gravitational coupling constant to –2, and the gravitational mass tou(, ), which is a coscalar of power –1 algebraically made of and. The theory satisfies the weak equivalence principle, but breaks the strong one generally. We shall find outu(, )= on the assumption that the strong one keeps holding good at least for bosons of low spins. Thus we have the simple correspondence between the geometrical objects and the gravitational objects. Since the theory satisfies the weak one, the inertial mass is also dynamical and geometrical in the same way as is the gravitational mass. Moreover, the cosmological term in the theory is a coscalar of power –4 algebraically made of andu(, ), so it is dynamical, too. Finally we give spherically symmetric exact solutions. The permissible range of the unknown parameter 2 is experimentally determined by applying the solutions to the solar system.  相似文献

Previous results on quasi-classical limit of the KP and Toda hierarchies are now extended to the BKP hierarchy. Basic tools such as the Lax representation, the Baker-Akhiezer function and the tau function are reformulated so as to fit into the analysis of quasi-classical limit. Two subalgebrasW 1 B + andw 1 B + of theW-infinity algebrasW 1 + andw 1 + are introduced as fundamental Lie algebras of the BKP hierarchy and its quasi-classical limit, the dispersionless BKP hierarchy. The quantumW-infinity algebraW 1 B + emerges in symmetries of the BKP hierarchy. In quasi-classical limit, theseW 1 B + symmetries are shown to be contracted intow 1 B + symmetries of the dispersionless BKP hierarchy.  相似文献

The mixed valence trial ground state suggested by Stevens and Brandow is reconsidered in the case of two electrons per atom. The wellknown difficulties due to nonorthogonality are resolved by expanding the trial state in an orthonormal basis. The expansion coefficients are determinants composed of Bloch phase factors, as in the Gutzwiller method. Studying first the limiting case of the Kaplan-Mahanti strongly localized ground state in the Brandow formalism, we derive rules for a simplified handling of the determinants; this opens the way to the more complicated weakly localized ground state. This is handled by expressing theN variational parameters of the Brandow formalism through a single one, the hybridization temperature . The ground state energy is a well-behaved function of the hybridization matrix elementV. The valence and the shift of the Fermi level are calculated to lowest order inV. The band occupation numbers follow a Fermi distribution at temperature V. We argue that the ground state is insulating, with thed-electrons localized into large Wannier-type orbitals centered on the respectivef-holes, as envisaged by Stevens.  相似文献

The object of the present paper is to study the MHD effects on the laminar flow of a viscous, incompressible and conducting fluid in an annulus with arbitrary time-varying pressure gradient and arbitrary initial velocity in presence of a radial magnetic field. We study the change of an quasienergy spectrum upon variation of the weight of a perturbation in the Floquet operatorF=F 0e–iV . Employing ideas from level dynamics and random matrix-theory we show that the distribution of nearest-neighbor spacings can display effectively irreversible behavior. A photometric and fluorimetric study of the acid-base behavior of 2,2-diquinolyl and 2,2,2-terpyridyl was performed. In sulfuric acid medium, the doubly charged 2,2-diquinolynium ion undergoes the first dissociation atH 0=0.20±0.09, as determined by fluorimetry (ex=336 nm, em=424 nm). Photometric titration is less accurate because of the overlapping of the absorption spectra. The second dissociation constant of 2,2-diquinolyl was determined by fluorimetric titration (ex=336 nm, em=420 nm), obtaining a value of 3.67±0.03. The triply charged 2,2,2-terpyridyl molecule was found to undergo the first dissociation atH 0=–7.17±0.04, as determined by fluorimetric titration (ex=316 nm, em=350 nm), in aqueous sulfuric acid medium. Photometric titration (=335 nm) was performed in the presence of 6.5% ethanol because of the low solubility of the compound in water. In this ethanolicwater medium, a value of the dissociation constant atH 0=–7.39±0.03 was calculated. The second dissociation constant was determined to be 2.81±0.12 by photometric titration at 285 nm, and values of 4.03±0.26 and 4.16±0.20 were found for the third dissociation constant by photometric titrations at 320 and 295 nm, in 10% ethanol, in close agreement with previously reported values. The fluorimetric titration profile obtained by exciting at 274 nm and measuring the fluorescence emission at 350 nm, in the zone betweenH 0=–3 and pH=10, is complicated by the several equilibria involved.  相似文献

We prove the following long-time tail results: (1) limt td/2t= V2Md/2–3(d/2)d/2 and (2) limt td/4 st(w)= Zs weakly in path space, with {Zs:s>0} the Gaussian process with EZs=0 and EZrZs= V2Md/2–4(d)d/2 (r + s)–d/2. HereM and V2 are the mean and variance of w(0) under . The main surprise is that fixingw changes the power of the long-time tail fromd/2 tod/4. The surface morphology after deposition of Ag on Ag(111) at low temperatures (130–200 K) has been studied in detail with SPA-LEED (Spot-Profile Analysis of Low-Energy Electron Diffraction). The surface roughness and the mean terrace size have been quantitatively determined under various conditions. At 130 K the surface roughness increases with coverage exactly according to the relation = 1/2, which indicates that the inter-layer diffusion can be neglected at 130 K. Although the mean terrace length decreases with increasing coverage (following an approximate power law of –2/3) for all studied coverages, it is much larger than expected for a pure random or Poisson-growth mode without any diffusion of the adatoms. Therefore, Ag grows on Ag(111) at this temperature without interlayer diffusion but with intra-layer diffusion. The intralayer diffusion barrierE d has been determined by measuring the temperature dependence of the two-dimensional island density according to the nucleation theory (supposing a critical nucleus size of one). The obtained valueE c=0.18 eV agrees with the theoretical calculations and previous measurements. Furthermore, from comparing measured and Monte-Carlo-simulated (MC) surface roughness at different deposition temperatures we obtain E=0.05 eV as a lower limit for the additional barrier at steps.  相似文献

New experimental results on the coherentK L 0 C K S 0 C regeneration in the momentum range 10p30 GeV/c are presented. For the quantity (f 0¯f 0/k (where f0 and¯f 0 are theKC and¯K 0C forward scattering amplitudes andk is the wave number) we have obtained: arg (f 0¯f 0)/k=–126±14 and ¦(f 0¯f 0/k¦ p –0.62±0.14 These results are well described by a simple Regge pole model including only the (-trajectory exchange in thet-channel with the intercept (0) close to 0.4.Presented at the IV International Symposium on High Energy and Elementary Particle Physics, Warszaw, September 1975.  相似文献

From a finite size analysis we extract the structure factorS(p, N=) of the one dimensional AFH-model in the groundstate: The gross structure is well described byL (p) = –ln(1– p ). The fine structure which only contributes a few percent reveals a pronounced non-linear behavior inL(p) with a maximum atp=0.20 and a minimum atp=0.82.  相似文献

We find a unique torsion free Riemannian spin connection for the natural Killing metric on the quantum group C q [ SL2], using a recent frame bundle formulation. We find that its covariant Ricci curvature is essentially proportional to the metric (i.e. an Einstein space). We compute the Dirac operator and find for q an odd rth root of unity that its eigenvalues are given by q-integers [m] q for m=0,1...,r–1 offset by the constant background curvature. Under routine independence assumptions, one may then calculate a formula for the spectrum ofn(t), S n(), in terms of the probability density ofs, ps(). However, this is not a spectrum of a well-defined random process; here, it is termed alimit spectrum. If a probability density having the property ps() for small , where > 0, is substituted into the formula instead, a spectrum is calculated which is indeed the spectrum of a well-defined random process. Also, if the latter ps is suitably close to the former ps, then the spectrum in the second case approximates, to an arbitrary, degree of accuracy, the limit spectrum. It is shown how one may thereby have 1/f noise with low-frequency turnover, and also strict 1/f 1– noise (the latter spectrum being integrable for > 0). Suitable examples are given.
