An integral conservation law is derived for smooth volume in Lagrangian coordinates (a comoving frame). A method for approximation
of the integral smooth volume conservation law is discussed. An extension technique is suggested for development of smooth
volume schemes. For hyperbolic systems, smooth volume upwind and Godunov schemes with monotonic reconstruction are derived.
The schemes are applied to equations of gas dynamics and tested for three gas-dynamics shock tube problems. The solutions
are monotonic and precise.

A dual algorithm based on the smooth function proposed by Polyak (1988) is constructed for solving nonlinear programming problems with inequality constraints. It generates a sequence of points converging locally to a Kuhn-Tucker point by solving an unconstrained minimizer of a smooth potential function with a parameter. We study the relationship between eigenvalues of the Hessian of this smooth potential function and the parameter, which is useful for analyzing the effectiveness of the dual algorithm. 相似文献

A smooth 1-form on real projective space with vanishing integral along all geodesics is said to have zero energy. Such a 1-form is necessarily the exterior derivative of a smooth function. We formulate a general version of this theorem for tensor fields on real projective space and prove it using methods of complex analysis. A generalized iterative process for solving mixed variational inequalities with J-Pseudomonotone operators in uniformly smooth Banach spaces is proposed and its weak convergence is established. An application to the stationary filtration problem is given. For such variational inequalities, a generalized iterative regularization method is constructed and its weak convergence under the assumption that the iterative parameter may vary from step to step is analyzed. We study a class of second elliptic equations whose highest order coefficients vanish everywhere on the boundary. Under suitable
conditions on the lower order coefficients, Langlais proved in 1985 that such equations have unique smooth solutions up to
the boundary provided the data are smooth enough. Our goal here is to prove some Schauder estimates for these equations and
to obtain results even in Lipschitz domains. In addition, we show that bounded solutions of such problems are as smooth as

It is well known that smooth periodic functions can be expanded into Fourier series and can be approximated by trigonometric polynomials. The purpose of this paper is to do Fourier analysis for smooth functions on planar domains. A planar domain can often be divided into some trapezoids with curved sides, so first we do the Fourier analysis for smooth functions on trapezoids with curved sides. We will show that any smooth function on a trapezoid with curved sides can be expanded into Fourier sine series with simple polynomial factors, and so it can be well approximated by a combination of sine polynomials and simple polynomials. Then we consider the Fourier analysis on the global domain. Finally, we extend these results to the three-dimensional case. 相似文献

This paper presents a smooth path-following algorithm for computing market equilibrium in a pure exchange economy under a class of piecewise-smooth concave utilities, which can be expressed as \(u(x)=\min _\ell \{f_\ell (x)\}\) with \(f_\ell (x)\) being a smooth concave function for all \(\ell \). As a result of a smooth technique for minimax problems, a smooth homotopy mapping is derived from the introduction of logarithmic barrier terms and an extra variable. With this mapping, it is proved that there always exists a smooth path leading to a market equilibrium as the extra variable approaches zero. A predictor–corrector method is adapted for numerically following this path. Numerical results are given to further demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorithm. 相似文献

We consider homomorphisms between abstract, topological, and smooth generalized polygons. It is shown that a continuous homomorphism is either injective or locally constant. A new class of smooth exact penalty functions was recently introduced by Huyer and Neumaier. In this paper, we prove that the new smooth penalty function for a constrained optimization problem is exact if and only if the standard nonsmooth penalty function for this problem is exact. We also provide some estimates of the exact penalty parameter of the smooth penalty function, and, in particular, show that it asymptotically behaves as the square of the exact penalty parameter of the standard \(\ell _1\) penalty function. We briefly discuss a simple way to reduce the exact penalty parameter of the smooth penalty function, and study the effect of nonlinear terms on the exactness of this function. 相似文献

A nonparametric estimation of a distribution function is considered when observations contain measurement errors. A method
is developed to establish asymptotic normality results for a deconvoluting kernel-type estimator for ρ-mixing stochastic processes
corrupted by some noise process. It is shown that the asymptotic distribution depends on the smoothness of the noise distributions,
which are characterized as either ordinary smooth or super smooth. Also, the kind of dependence of the noise process is crucial
to the form of the asymptotic variance.

Algorithms based on statistical models compete favorably with other global optimization algorithms as shown by extensive testing results. A theoretical inadequacy of previously used statistical models for smooth objective functions was eliminated by the authors who, in a recent paper, have constructed a P-algorithm for a statistical model for smooth functions. A new method for constructing the symmetric form for the hyperbolic systems is introduced. Then a new symmetric form of the equations of MHD transverse flow is constructed by adding an additional equation. With this new form, we obtain the local existence of smooth solution including the case that the initial density may tend to the vacuum state at infinity. One considers a class of solutions with finite total energy and moment of inertia for the equations of motion of compressible
fluids. It is shown that for a wide class of right-hand sides, including the viscosity term, initially smooth solutions may
acquire singularities on a finite time interval. A sufficient condition for the appearance of singularities is found. This
condition may be called “the best possible sufficient condition” in the sense that one can explicitly construct a time-global
smooth solution for which this condition does not hold to within arbitrary infinitely small quantities. For a nontrivial constant
state, perturbations with compact support are considered. A generalization is proved for the known theorem on the initial
conditions for which the solution acquires singularities on a finite time interval. The effect of dry friction and rotation
on the formation of singularities of smooth solutions is examined.
