The molecular dynamics of polar diatomic molecule, interacting with linearly and circularly polarised laser field is studied.
Non-perturbative quasi-energy technique is used to determine the rotational field surfaces. Degeneracy in different M-levels
is found to be removed in the presence of circularly polarised electromagnetic radiation. In this paper, we present the calculations
exhibiting the dynamics of rotational excitation of a linear molecule and characteristic features of spectra which become
observable in considered fields.

The experimental data of the antideuteron production in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions are analyzed within a
simple model based on the diagrammatic approach to the coalescence model. This model is shown to be able to reproduce most
of the existing data without any additional parameter.

Transport properties of ion swarms in presence of Resonant Charge Transfer (RCT) collisions are studied using Momentum Transfer
Theory (MTT). It was shown that, not surprisingly, RCT collisions may be represented as a special case of elastic scattering.
Using the developed MTT we tested a previously available anisotropic set of cross-sections for Ar+Ar
+ collisions by making the comparisons with the available data for the transverse diffusion coefficient. We also developed
an anisotropic set of Ne+Ne
+ integral cross-sections based on the available data for mobility, longitudinal and transverse diffusion. Anisotropic sets
of cross-sections are needed for Monte Carlo simulations of ion transport and plasma models.

The phase structure of hadrons and the quark-gluon plasma is investigated by two types of equation of state of the hadrons,
namely the ideal hadron gas model and the compressible bag model. It is pointed out that, while the ideal gas model produces
an unrealistic extra hadron phase, the compressible bag model gives the expected and reasonable phase diagram even if the
rich hadron spectrum is taken into account.

Entrance channel potentials in nucleus-nucleus collisions, relevant for the synthesis of superheavy elements, are systematically
studied within a semi-microscopic approach, where microscopic nuclear densities of the colliding spherical or deformed nuclei
are used in semi-classical expressions of the energy-density functional. From experimental data on fusion windows evidence
is found that the existence of pockets in the entrance channel potentials is crucial for fusion. Criteria for the choice of
the best collision systems for the synthesis of superheavy elements are discussed.

We discuss the applicability of pQCD to the elastic scattering of electrons on protons and deuterons. We analyze the Q2-dependence of the reduced deuteron form factor, taking into account the recent data on the electric proton form factor and
we find that the value of the QCD-scale parameter Λ differs essentially from the value Λ = 0.1 GeV, previously found using
the dipole parametrization of the electromagnetic nucleon form factors GE and GM. Moreover, the predicted scaling behavior of the reduced deuteron form factor cannot be recovered in the Dirac and Pauli
representations for the nucleon electromagnetic form factors.

We revisit the decoupling phenomenon of massless modes in non-commutative open string (NCOS) theories. We check the decoupling
by explicit computation in (2+1) or higher dimensional NCOS theories and recapitulate the validity of the decoupling to all

An explicit model realizing parton-hadron duality and fitting the data is suggested. Complex nonlinear Regge trajectories
are important ingredients of the model. The inclusion of Δ and N* trajectories should account for all resonances in the direct channel. The exotic trajectory is responsible for the smooth
background.

The process of baryon number transfer due to string junction propagation in rapidity space is analyzed. It has a significant
effect on the net baryon production in pp collisions at mid-rapidities and an even larger effect in the forward hemisphere in the cases of and interactions. The results of numerical calculations in the framework of the quark-gluon string model are in reasonable agreement
with the data.

RITU at the University of Jyv?skyl?. The experimental setup is discussed and the spectra are compared to Monte Carlo simulations.

Lasers have played an important role for the development of new spectroscopy techniques yielding spins, electromagnetic moments
and charge radii of many unstable nuclei. More recently, similar techniques have been introduced to manipulate atoms and thus
to prepare beams or samples of radioactive atoms for various applications including nuclear spectroscopy and decay studies.

The influence of final-state NN and πN rescattering in incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron has been investigated. For the elementary photoproduction
operator an effective Lagrangian model is used which describes well the elementary reaction. The interactions in the final
two-body subsystems are taken in separable form. While NN rescattering shows quite a significant effect, particularly strong for neutral pion production, πN rescattering is almost negligible. Inclusion of such effects leads to an improved and quite satisfactory agreement with experiment.

The intranuclear cascade model is generally considered to be valid when the incident particle has a sufficiently small de
Broglie wavelength to interact with individual nucleons. On this basis, a lower limit of 200 MeV is usually quoted for the
incident energy in nucleon-induced reactions. Here this statement is questioned. A pragmatic approach is used, which compares
the predictions of the Liège intranuclear cascade model with available data at incident energy between 40 and 250 MeV. It
is found that this model gives surprisingly good results at energies well below the limit mentioned above. Results are also
compared with the predictions of other models commonly used in this energy range.

We discuss the perspectives of testing the right-handed Majorana mass scale MR of the SUSY see-saw model in the mSUGRA framework. Lepton-flavor violating low energy processes are analyzed in recently
proposed post-LEP benchmark scenarios, taking into account present uncertainties and future developments in the neutrino sector.
Non-observation of in the next-generation PSI experiment will provide upper bounds on MR of the order of GeV, while on the other hand, a positive signal for at SUPERKEKB or the LHC may determine MR for a given mSUGRA scenario with an accuracy of a factor of 2.

It is shown that existing data on the mixing between up and down fermion states and on the hierarchical mass ratios between
fermion generations, as far as can be so analyzed at present, are all consistent with the two phenomena being both consequences
of a mass matrix rotating in generation space with changing energy scale. As a result, the rotating mass matrix can be traced
over some 14 orders of magnitude in energy from the mass scale of the t quark at 175 GeV to below that of the atmospheric neutrino at 0.05 eV.

The status of the evaluation of the MSSM Higgs sector is reviewed. The phenomenological impact of recently obtained corrections
is discussed. In particular it is shown that the upper bound on mh within the MSSM is shifted upwards. Consequently, lower limits on obtained by confronting the upper bound as function of with the lower bound on mh from Higgs searches are significantly weakened. Furthermore, th
e region in the MA--plane where the coupling of the lightest Higgs boson to down-type fermions is suppressed is modified. The presently not calculated
higher-order corrections to the Higgs-boson mass matrix are estimated to shift the mass of the lightest Higgs boson by up
to 3 GeV.

We present the first application of Genetic Algorithms to the analysis of data from an aperiodically ordered system, high
resolution X-Ray diffraction spectra from multilayer heterostructures arranged according to a deterministic or random scheme.
This method paves the way to the solution of the “inverse problem”, that is the retrieval of the generating disorder from
the investigation of the spectra of an unknown sample having non crystallographic, non quasi-crystallographic order.
