The reaction of [RuIII(edta)(H2O)] with o-phenylenediamine (opda) in water, under aerobic conditions, affords the diamagnetic [RuII(edta)(bqdi)]2− product (where edta stands for the ethylenediaminetetraacetate co-ligand, and bqdi represents the non-innocent o-benzoquinone α,α-diimine ligand). In the current communication, the redox chemistry of this system in aqueous solution is described in details on the basis of electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical studies. The electrochemical behavior of “free” opda is rather complicated with further chemical reactions following the irreversible two-proton/two-electron oxidation (opda→bqdi+2e+2H+), whereas its complex is electrochemically well-behaved with two chemically reversible redox processes: the monoelectronic couple associated with the metal ion (RuIII/RuII) and another bielectronic step centered on the coordinated ligand (bqdi/opda). The set of UV–Vis electronic spectra were obtained by electrolytical generation, in situ, of all the redox species accessible in the CV working conditions (i.e., the starting [RuII(edta)(bqdi)]2−, the fully oxidized [RuIII(edta)(bqdi)], and the fully reduced [RuII(edta)(opda)]2− species), which are stable and totally interconvertible. The electrochemistry and absorption spectroscopy of these complexes in water were found to be comparable with the tetraammine counterparts. A remarkable difference in redox behavior between the diimine- and the analogous dioxolene-complexes was also revealed by comparison of the system reported herein with the one derived from catechol, and rationalized in terms of the quite efficient π-accepting electronic nature of the bqdi ligand.  相似文献

To investigate how the central metalloligand geometry influences distant or vicinal metal‐to‐metal charge‐transfer (MMCT) properties of polynuclear complexes, cis‐ and trans‐isomeric heterotrimetallic complexes, and their one‐ and two‐electron oxidation products, cis/trans‐ [Cp(dppe)FeIINCRuII(phen)2CN‐FeII(dppe)Cp][PF6]2 (cis/trans‐ 1 [PF6]2), cis/trans‐[Cp(dppe)FeIINCRuII(phen)2CNFeIII‐(dppe)Cp][PF6]3 (cis/trans‐ 1 [PF6]3) and cis/trans‐[Cp(dppe)FeIIINCRuII(phen)2CN‐FeIII(dppe)Cp][PF6]4 (cis/trans‐ 1 [PF6]4) have been synthesized and characterized. Electrochemical measurements show the presence of electronic interactions between the two external FeII atoms of the cis‐ and trans‐isomeric complexes cis/trans‐ 1 [PF6]2. The electronic properties of all these complexes were studied and compared by spectroscopic techniques and TDDFT//DFT calculations. As expected, both mixed valence complexes cis/trans‐ 1 [PF6]3 exhibited different strong absorption signals in the NIR region, which should mainly be attributed to a transition from an MO that is delocalized over the RuII‐CN‐FeII subunit to a FeIII d orbital with some contributions from the co‐ligands. Moreover, the NIR transition energy in trans‐ 1 [PF6]3 is lower than that in cis‐ 1 [PF6]3, which is related to the symmetry of their molecular orbitals on the basis of the molecular orbital analysis. Also, the electronic spectra of the two‐electron oxidized complexes show that trans‐ 1 [PF6]4 possesses lower vicinal RuII→FeIII MMCT transition energy than cis‐ 1 [PF6]4. Moreover, the assignment of MMCT transition of the oxidized products and the differences of the electronic properties between the cis and trans complexes can be well rationalized using TDDFT//DFT calculations.  相似文献

Solvated iron(II)‐tris(bipyridine) ([FeII(bpy)3]2+) has been extensively studied with regard to the spin crossover (SCO) phenomenon. Herein, the ultrafast spin transition dynamics of single crystal [FeII(bpy)3](PF6)2 was characterized for the first time using femtosecond transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy. The single crystal environment is of interest for experiments that probe the nuclear motions involved in the SCO transition, such as femtosecond X‐ray and electron diffraction. We found that the TA at early times is very similar to what has been reported in solvated [FeII(bpy)3]2+, whereas the later dynamics are perturbed in the crystal environment. The lifetime of the high‐spin state is found to be much shorter (100 ps) than in solution due to chemical pressure exerted by the lattice. Oscillatory behavior was observed on both time scales. Our results show that single crystal [FeII(bpy)3](PF6)2 serves as an excellent model system for localized molecular spin transitions.  相似文献

A new bis(pyrazolylpyridine) ligand (H2L) has been prepared to form functional [Fe2(H2L)3]4+ metallohelicates. Changes to the synthesis yield six derivatives, X@[Fe2(H2L)3]X(PF6)2?xCH3OH ( 1 , x=5.7 and X=Cl; 2 , x=4 and X=Br), X@[Fe2(H2L)3]X(PF6)2?yCH3OH?H2O ( 1 a , y=3 and X=Cl; 2 a , y=1 and X=Br) and X@[Fe2(H2L)3](I3)2?3 Et2O ( 1 b , X=Cl; 2 b , X=Br). Their structure and functional properties are described in detail by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction experiments at several temperatures. Helicates 1 a and 2 a are obtained from 1 and 2 , respectively, by a single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal mechanism. The three possible magnetic states, [LS–LS], [LS–HS], and [HS–HS] can be accessed over large temperature ranges as a result of the structural nonequivalence of the FeII centers. The nature of the guest (Cl? vs. Br?) shifts the spin crossover (SCO) temperature by roughly 40 K. Also, metastable [LS–HS] or [HS–HS] states are generated through irradiation. All helicates (X@[Fe2(H2L)3])3+ persist in solution.  相似文献

We report two new FeIII complexes [L1FeIII(H2O)](OTf)2 and [L2FeIII(OTf)] , obtained by replacing pyridines by phenolates in a known non-heme aminopyridine iron complex. While the original, starting aminopyridine [(L5 2 )FeII(MeCN)](PF6) complex is stable in air, the potentials of the new FeIII/II couples decrease to the point that [L2FeII] spontaneously reduces O2 to superoxide. We used it as an O2 activator in an electrochemical setup, as its presence allows to generate superoxide at a much more accessible potential (>500 mV gain). Our aim was to achieve substrate oxidation via the reductive activation of O2. While L2FeIII(OTf) proved to be a good O2 activator but a poor oxidation system, its association with another complex (TPEN)FeII(PF6)2 generates a complementary tandem couple for electro-assisted oxidation of substrates, working at a very accessible potential: upon reduction, L2FeIII(OTf) activates O2 to superoxide and transfers it to (TPEN)FeII(PF6)2 leading in fine to the oxidation of thioanisole.  相似文献

The heterometallic complexes trans ‐[Cp(dppe)FeNCRu(o ‐bpy)CNFe(dppe)Cp][PF6]n ( 1 [PF6]n , n =2, 3, 4; o ‐bpy=1,2‐bis(2,2′‐bipyridyl‐6‐yl)ethane, dppe=1,2‐bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, Cp=1,3‐cyclopentadiene) in three distinct states have been synthesized and fully characterized. 1 3+[PF6]3 and 1 4+[PF6]4 are the one‐ and two‐electron oxidation products of 1 2+[PF6]2, respectively. The investigated results suggest that 1 [PF6]3 is a Class II mixed valence compound. 1 [PF6]4 after a thermal treatment at 400 K shows an unusually delocalized mixed valence state of [FeIII‐NC‐RuIII‐CN‐FeII], which is induced by electron transfer from the central RuII to the terminal FeIII in 1 [PF6]4, which was confirmed by IR spectroscopy, magnetic data, and EPR and Mössbauer spectroscopy.  相似文献

The combination of a cobalt-dioxolene core that exhibits valence tautomerism (VT) with pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid functionalized with chains bearing two, four, or six oxyethylene units led to new complexes ConEGEspy (n = 2, 4, and 6). These complexes commonly form violet crystals of the low-spin (ls)-[CoIII(nEGEspy)2(3,6-DTBSQ)(3,6-DTBCat)] (ls-[CoIII], 3,6-DTBSQ = 3,6-di-tert-butyl semiquinonato, 3,6-DTBCat = 3,6-di-tert-butyl catecholato). Interestingly, violet crystals of Co2EGEspy in the ls-[CoIII] transitioned into a green liquid, accompanied by an almost complete VT shift (94 %) to the high-spin (hs)-[CoII(nEGEspy)2(3,6-DTBSQ)2] (hs-[CoII]) upon melting. In contrast, violet crystals of Co4EGEspy and Co6EGEspy in the ls-[CoIII] exhibited partial VT (33 %) and only a 9.3 % VT shift after melting, respectively. These data demonstrate the tunability of the synchronicity of the molecular VT and macroscopic solid-liquid transitions by optimizing the tethered chains, thus establishing a new strategy for coupling bistable molecules with the macroscopic world.  相似文献

Cyanide‐bridged metal complexes of [Fe8M6(μ‐CN)14(CN)10 (tp)8(HL)10(CH3CN)2][PF6]4?n CH3CN?m H2O (HL=3‐(2‐pyridyl)‐5‐[4‐(diphenylamino)phenyl]‐1H‐pyrazole), tp?=hydrotris(pyrazolylborate), 1 : M=Ni with n=11 and m=7, and 2 : M=Co with n=14 and m=5) were prepared. Complexes 1 and 2 are isomorphous, and crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/n. They have tetradecanuclear cores composed of eight low‐spin (LS) FeIII and six high‐spin (HS) MII ions (M=Ni and Co), all of which are bridged by cyanide ions, to form a crown‐like core structure. Magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed that intramolecular ferro‐ and antiferromagnetic interactions are operative in 1 and in a fresh sample of 2 , respectively. Ac magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1 showed frequency‐dependent in‐ and out‐of‐phase signals, characteristic of single‐molecule magnetism (SMM), while desolvated samples of 2 showed thermal‐ and photoinduced intramolecular electron‐transfer‐coupled spin transition (ETCST) between the [(LS‐FeII)3(LS‐FeIII)5(HS‐CoII)3(LS‐CoIII)3] and the [(LS‐FeIII)8(HS‐CoII)6] states.  相似文献

The use of the [FeIII(AA)(CN)4]? complex anion as metalloligand towards the preformed [CuII(valpn)LnIII]3+ or [NiII(valpn)LnIII]3+ heterometallic complex cations (AA=2,2′‐bipyridine (bipy) and 1,10‐phenathroline (phen); H2valpn=1,3‐propanediyl‐bis(2‐iminomethylene‐6‐methoxyphenol)) allowed the preparation of two families of heterotrimetallic complexes: three isostructural 1D coordination polymers of general formula {[CuII(valpn)LnIII(H2O)3(μ‐NC)2FeIII(phen)(CN)2 {(μ‐NC)FeIII(phen)(CN)3}]NO3 ? 7 H2O}n (Ln=Gd ( 1 ), Tb ( 2 ), and Dy ( 3 )) and the trinuclear complex [CuII(valpn)LaIII(OH2)3(O2NO)(μ‐NC)FeIII(phen)(CN)3] ? NO3 ? H2O ? CH3CN ( 4 ) were obtained with the [CuII(valpn)LnIII]3+ assembling unit, whereas three isostructural heterotrimetallic 2D networks, {[NiII(valpn)LnIII(ONO2)2(H2O)(μ‐NC)3FeIII(bipy)(CN)] ? 2 H2O ? 2 CH3CN}n (Ln=Gd ( 5 ), Tb ( 6 ), and Dy ( 7 )) resulted with the related [NiII(valpn)LnIII]3+ precursor. The crystal structure of compound 4 consists of discrete heterotrimetallic complex cations, [CuII(valpn)LaIII(OH2)3(O2NO)(μ‐NC)FeIII(phen)(CN)3]+, nitrate counterions, and non‐coordinate water and acetonitrile molecules. The heteroleptic {FeIII(bipy)(CN)4} moiety in 5 – 7 acts as a tris‐monodentate ligand towards three {NiII(valpn)LnIII} binuclear nodes leading to heterotrimetallic 2D networks. The ferromagnetic interaction through the diphenoxo bridge in the CuII?LnIII ( 1 – 3 ) and NiII?LnIII ( 5 – 7 ) units, as well as through the single cyanide bridge between the FeIII and either NiII ( 5 – 7 ) or CuII ( 4 ) account for the overall ferromagnetic behavior observed in 1 – 7 . DFT‐type calculations were performed to substantiate the magnetic interactions in 1 , 4 , and 5 . Interestingly, compound 6 exhibits slow relaxation of the magnetization with maxima of the out‐of‐phase ac signals below 4.0 K in the lack of a dc field, the values of the pre‐exponential factor (τo) and energy barrier (Ea) through the Arrhenius equation being 2.0×10?12 s and 29.1 cm?1, respectively. In the case of 7 , the ferromagnetic interactions through the double phenoxo (NiII–DyIII) and single cyanide (FeIII–NiII) pathways are masked by the depopulation of the Stark levels of the DyIII ion, this feature most likely accounting for the continuous decrease of χM T upon cooling observed for this last compound.  相似文献

It is promising and challenging to manipulate the electronic structures and functions of materials utilizing both metal-to-metal charge transfer (MMCT) and spin-crossover (SCO) to tune the valence and spin states of metal ions. Herein, a metallocyanate building block is used to link with a FeII-triazole moiety and generates a mixed-valence complex {[(Tp4-Me)FeIII(CN)3]9[FeII4(trz-ph)6]}⋅[Ph3PMe]2⋅[(Tp4-Me)FeIII(CN)3] ( 1 ; trz-ph=4-phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole). Moreover, MMCT occurs between FeIII and one of the FeII sites after heat treatment, resulting in the generation of a new phase, {[(Tp4-Me)FeII(CN)3][(Tp4-Me)FeIII(CN)3]8 [FeIIIFeII3(trz-ph)6]}⋅ [Ph3PMe]2⋅[(Tp4-Me)FeIII(CN)3] ( 1 a ). Structural and magnetic studies reveal that MMCT can tune the two-step SCO behavior of 1 into one-step SCO behavior of 1 a . Our work demonstrates that the integration of MMCT and SCO can provide a new alternative for manipulating functional spin-transition materials with accessible multi-electronic states.  相似文献

A series of ruthenium alkenylacetylide complexes trans-[Ru{C≡CC(=CH2)R}Cl(dppe)2] (R=Ph ( 1 a ), cC4H3S ( 1 b ), 4-MeS-C6H4 ( 1 c ), 3,3-dimethyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]thiophene (DMBT) ( 1 d )) or trans-[Ru{C≡C-cC6H9}Cl(dppe)2] ( 1 e ) were allowed to react with the corresponding propargylic alcohol HC≡CC(Me)R(OH) (R=Ph ( A ), cC4H3S ( B ), 4-MeS-C6H4 ( C ), DMBT ( D ) or HC≡C-cC6H10(OH) ( E ) in the presence of TlBF4 and DBU to presumably give alkenylacetylide/allenylidene intermediates trans-[Ru{C≡CC(=CH2)R}{C=C=C(Me)}(dppe)2]PF6 ([ 2 ]PF6). These complexes were not isolated but deprotonated to give the isolable bis(alkenylacetylide) complexes trans-[Ru{C≡CC(=CH2)R}2(dppe)2] (R=Ph ( 3 a ), cC4H3S ( 3 b ), 4-MeS-C6H4 ( 3 c ), DMBT ( 3 d )) and trans-[Ru{C≡C-cC6H9}2(dppe)2] ( 3 e ). Analogous reactions of trans-[Ru(CH3)2(dmpe)2], featuring the more electron-donating 1,2-bis(dimethylphosphino)ethane (dmpe) ancillary ligands, with the propargylic alcohols A or C and NH4PF6 in methanol allowed isolation of the intermediate mixed alkenylacetylide/allenylidene complexes trans-[Ru{C≡CC(=CH2)R}{C=C=C(Me)}(dmpe)2]PF6 (R=Ph ([ 4 a ]PF6), 4-MeS-C6H4 ([ 4 c ]PF6). Deprotonation of [ 4 a ]PF6 or [ 4 c ]PF6 gave the symmetric bis(alkenylacetylide) complexes trans-[Ru{C≡CC(=CH2)R}2(dmpe)2] (R=Ph ( 5 a ), 4-MeS-C6H4 ( 5 c )), the first of their kind containing the dmpe ancillary ligand sphere. Attempts to isolate bis(allenylidene) complexes [Ru{C=C=C(Me)R}2(PP)2]2+ (PP=dppe, dmpe) from treatment of the bis(alkenylacetylide) species 3 or 5 with HBF4 ⋅ Et2O were ultimately unsuccessful.  相似文献

UV photolysis of [CpFeII(CO)3]+ PF66? (I) or [CpFeII6-toluene)]+ PF6?? (II) in CH3CN in the presence of 1 mole of a ligand L gives the new air sensitive, red complexes [CpFeII(NCCH3)2L]+PF6? (III, L = PPh3; IV; L = CO; VIII, L = cyclohexene; IX, L = dimethylthiophene) and the known air stable complex [CpFeII(PMe3)2(NCMe)]+ PF6? (V). The last product is also obtained by photolysis in the presence of 2 or 3 moles of PMe3. In the presence of dppe, the known complex [CpFeII (dppe)(NCCH3)]+ (XI) is obtained. Complex III reacts with CO under mild conditions to give the known complex [CpFe(NCCH3)(PPh3)CO]+ PF6? (X). UV photolysis of I in CH3CN in the presence of 1-phenyl-3,4-dimethylphosphole (P) gives [CpFeIIP3]+ PF6? (XII); UV photolysis of II in CH2Cl2 in the presence of 3 moles of PMe3 or I mole of tripod (CH3C(CH2Ph2)3) provides an easy synthesis of the known complexes [CpFeII(PMe3)3]+ PF6? (VII) or [CpFeIIη3-tripod]+ PF6t- (XIII). Since I and II are easily accessible from ferrocene, these photolytic syntheses provide access to a wide range of piano-stool cyclopentadienyliron(II) cations in a 2-step process from ferrocene.  相似文献

Summary Direct oxidation of iron and copper in a donor-acceptor medium, L + CCl4, where L is dimethylsulphoxide, dimethylformamide or acetonitrile was employed to obtain complex compounds:cis-[FeCl2(DMSO)4]Cl] (3), 2 FeCl3 · 3 DMSO (5), [FeCl(DMSO)5][FeCl4]2] (6), [FeCl(DMSO)5][Fe2Cl6O] (7),cis-[FeCl2(DMF)4][FeCl4] (8), [Fe(MeCN)6][FeCl4]2 (9) andcis-[CuCl2(DMF)2]2 (10), The structures of complexes (9) and (10) have been established by x-ray diffraction analysis and compared with those of (3), (6), (7) and (8) which are reported elsewhere. The [FeCl(DMSO)5][Fe2Cl6O] complex (7) is formed by oxidation of iron fromcis-[FeIIICl2(DMSO)4]2[FeIICl4] (4) in ethanol. The oxidation of [MII(3,5-DTBCat)(DTBbpy)] (M=Ni ( [Ni] ), Pd ( [Pd] ), and Pt ( [Pt] ); 3,5-DTBCat=3,5-di-tert-butylcatecholato; DTBbpy=4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine) afforded the dimeric {[NiII(3,5-DTBSQ)(DTBbpy)](PF6)}2 ( {[Ni](PF6)}2 ; 3,5-DTBSQ=3,5-di-tert-butylsemiquinonato) and monomeric semiquinonato (SQ) complexes [MII(3,5-DTBSQ)(DTBbpy)](PF6) (M=Pd ( [Pd](PF6) ) and Pt ( [Pt](PF6) )). The negative solvatochromic properties of the SQ complexes allowed us to estimate the relative order of their dipole moments: [Pd](PF6) > [Pt](PF6) > {[Ni](PF6)}2 . The complexes [Pd](PF6) and [Pt](PF6) adopt monomeric structures and are stable in CH2Cl2 and toluene, whereas they gradually disproportionate at room temperature to [M] and 3,5-di-tert-butylbenzoquinone (3,5-DTBBQ) in polar solvents such as THF, MeOH, EtOH, DMF, or DMSO. The results of spectroscopic studies suggested that the oxidized nickel complex adopts a monomeric structure ( [Ni](PF6) ) in CH2Cl2, but a dimeric structure ( {[Ni](PF6)}2 ) in the other investigated solvents. In polar solvents, {[Ni](PF6)}2 may disproportionate to [Ni] and 3,5-DTBBQ at 323 K, thereby demonstrating a significant solvent- and metal-dependence in temperature. The relative activities of {[Ni](PF6)}2 and [M](PF6) toward disproportionation are related to the electrochemically estimated Kdis values in CH2Cl2 and DMF. The present work demonstrates that solvent polarity and the dipole moments of the SQ complexes promote disproportionation, which can be controlled by a judicious choice of the metal ion, solvent, and temperature.  相似文献

The two‐step one‐pot oxidative decarbonylation of [Fe2(S2C2H4)(CO)4(PMe3)2] ( 1 ) with [FeCp2]PF6, followed by addition of phosphane ligands, led to a series of diferrous dithiolato carbonyls 2 – 6 , containing three or four phosphane ligands. In situ measurements indicate efficient formation of 1 2+ as the initial intermediate of the oxidation of 1 , even when a deficiency of the oxidant was employed. Subsequent addition of PR3 gave rise to [Fe2(S2C2H4)(μ‐CO)(CO)3(PMe3)3]2+ ( 2 ) and [Fe2(S2C2H4)(μ‐CO)(CO)2(PMe3)2(PR3)2]2+ (R=Me 3 , OMe 4 ) as principal products. One terminal CO ligand in these complexes was readily substituted by MeCN, and [Fe2(S2C2H4)(μ‐CO)(CO)2(PMe3)3(MeCN)]2+ ( 5 ) and [Fe2(S2C2H4)(μ‐CO)(CO)(PMe3)4(MeCN)]2+ ( 6 ) were fully characterized. Relevant to the Hred state of the active site of Fe‐only hydrogenases, the unsymmetrical derivatives 5 and 6 feature a semibridging CO ligand trans to a labile coordination site.  相似文献

The hydrothermal synthesis, using tris-(2-ethylamino)amine (tren) as a template, and the crystal structures of three new hybrid iron fluorides, (H3O)2·[H3tren]2·(FeF6)2·(FeF5(H2O))·2H2O (I), [H3tren]2·(FeF6)2·(FeF2(H2O)4)·8H2O (II) and [H3tren]2·(FeF6)·(F)3·H2O (III), are reported. I, II, and III are triclinic (P-1), monoclinic (P21/c) and orthorhombic (I222), respectively. The structure of I is built up from isolated FeF6 and FeF5(H2O) distorted octahedra separated by triprotonated [H3tren]3+ cations, disordered H3O+ cations and H2O molecules. In II, FeIIIF6 and neutral [FeIIF2(H2O)4] octahedra form, together with [H3tren]3+ cations, infinite (100) layers separated by extra water molecules. The structure of III consists of isolated and disordered FeF6 octahedra, fluoride anions F connected to [H3tren]3+ cations and extra fluoride anions F disordered with H2O molecules. All [H3tren]3+ cations have a “spider” type conformation. 57Fe Mössbauer characterization shows that +III valence state can only be considered for iron cations in I and III and preliminary Mössbauer results are consistent with the presence of both +II and +III valences for iron cations in II, in agreement with the crystallographic results.  相似文献

The complex trans-[Rh(CO)(NH3)(PiPr3)2]PF6 (2) was prepared from [(η3-C3H5)Rh(PiPr3)2] (1), NH4PF6 and CO or from 1 and NH4PF6 in presence of an excess of methanol. With an excess of CO, the dicarbonyl and tricarbonyl compounds trans-[Rh(CO)2(PiPr3)2]PF6 (3) and [Rh(CO)3(PiPr3)2]PF6 (4) were obtained. Displacement of one CO ligand in 3 by pyridine and acetone led to the formation of trans-[Rh(CO)(py)PiPr3)2]PF6 (5a) and trans-[Rh(CO) (O=CMe2(PiPr3)2]PF6 (6), respectively. Treatment of 1 with [pyH]BF4 and pyridine gave trans-[Rh(py)2(PiPr3)2]BF4 (7); in presence of H2 the dihydrido complex [RhH2(py)2(PiPr3)2]BF4 (8) was formed. The reaction of 1 with NH4PF6 and ethylene produced trans [Rh(C2H4(NH3(PiPr3)2]PF6(9) whereas with methylvinylketone and acetophenone the octahedral hydridorhodium(III) complexes [RhH(η2-CH=CHC(=O)CH3 (NH3(PiPr3)2]PF6(11) and [RhH(η2-C6H4C(=O)CH3(NH3(Pipr3)2]PF6 (13) were obtained. The synthesis of the cationic vinylidenerhodium(I) compounds trans-[Rh(=C=CHR)(py)(PiPr3)2]BF4 (14–16) and trans-[Rh(=C=CHR)(NH3)(PiPr3) 2]PF6 (17–19) was achieved either on treatment of 1 with [pyH]BF4 or NH4PF6 in presence of 1-alkynes or by ethylene displacement from 9 by HCCR. With tert-butylacetylene as substrate, the alkinyl(hydrido)rhodium(III) complex [RhH(CCtBu)(NH3)(O=CMe2)(PiPr3) 2]PF6 (20) was isolated which in CH2Cl2 solution smoothly reacted to give 19 (R =tBu). The cationic but-2-yne compound trans-[Rh(MeCCMe)(NH3)(Pi Pr3)2]PF6 (21) was prepared from 1, NH4PF6 and C2Me2. The molecular structures of 3 and 14 were determined by X-ray crystallography; in both cases the square-planar coordination around the metal and the trans disposition of the phosphine ligands was confirmed.

Abstract

The NiII complexes [Ni([9]aneNS2‐CH3)2]2+ ([9]aneNS2‐CH3=N‐methyl‐1‐aza‐4,7‐dithiacyclononane), [Ni(bis[9]aneNS2‐C2H4)]2+ (bis[9]aneNS2‐C2H4=1,2‐bis‐(1‐aza‐4,7‐dithiacyclononylethane) and [Ni([9]aneS3)2]2+ ([9]aneS3=1,4,7‐trithiacyclononane) have been prepared and can be electrochemically and chemically oxidized to give the formal NiIII products, which have been characterized by X‐ray crystallography, UV/Vis and multi‐frequency EPR spectroscopy. The single‐crystal X‐ray structure of [NiIII([9]aneNS2‐CH3)2](ClO4)6?(H5O2)3 reveals an octahedral co‐ordination at the Ni centre, while the crystal structure of [NiIII(bis[9]aneNS2‐C2H4)](ClO4)6?(H3O)3? 3H2O exhibits a more distorted co‐ordination. In the homoleptic analogue, [NiIII([9]aneS3)2](ClO4)3, structurally characterized at 30 K, the Ni? S distances [2.249(6), 2.251(5) and 2.437(2) Å] are consistent with a Jahn–Teller distorted octahedral stereochemistry. [Ni([9]aneNS2‐CH3)2](PF6)2 shows a one‐electron oxidation process in MeCN (0.2 M NBu4PF6, 293 K) at E1/2=+1.10 V versus Fc+/Fc assigned to a formal NiIII/NiII couple. [Ni(bis[9]aneNS2‐C2H4)](PF6)2 exhibits a one‐electron oxidation process at E1/2=+0.98 V and a reduction process at E1/2=?1.25 V assigned to NiII/NiIII and NiII/NiI couples, respectively. The multi‐frequency X‐, L‐, S‐, K‐band EPR spectra of the 3+ cations and their 86.2 % 61Ni‐enriched analogues were simulated. Treatment of the spin Hamiltonian parameters by perturbation theory reveals that the SOMO has 50.6 %, 42.8 % and 37.2 % Ni character in [Ni([9]aneNS2‐CH3)2]3+, [Ni(bis[9]aneNS2‐C2H4)]3+ and [Ni([9]aneS3)2]3+, respectively, consistent with DFT calculations, and reflecting delocalisation of charge onto the S‐thioether centres. EPR spectra for [61Ni([9]aneS3)2]3+ are consistent with a dynamic Jahn–Teller distortion in this compound.  相似文献
