Proton dissociation of an aqua‐Ru‐quinone complex, [Ru(trpy)(q)(OH2)]2+ (trpy = 2,2′ : 6′,2″‐terpyridine, q = 3,5‐di‐t‐butylquinone) proceeded in two steps (pKa = 5.5 and ca. 10.5). The first step simply produced [Ru(trpy)(q)(OH)]+, while the second one gave an unusual oxyl radical complex, [Ru(trpy)(sq)(O?.)]0 (sq = 3,5‐di‐t‐butylsemiquinone), owing to an intramolecular electron transfer from the resultant O2? to q. A dinuclear Ru complex bridged by an anthracene framework, [Ru2(btpyan)(q)2(OH)2]2+ (btpyan = 1,8‐bis(2,2′‐terpyridyl)anthracene), was prepared to place two Ru(trpy)(q)(OH) groups at a close distance. Deprotonation of the two hydroxy protons of [Ru2(btpyan)(q)2(OH)2]2+ generated two oxyl radical Ru‐O?. groups, which worked as a precursor for O2 evolution in the oxidation of water. The [Ru2(btpyan)(q)2(OH)2](SbF6)2 modified ITO electrode effectively catalyzed four‐electron oxidation of water to evolve O2 (TON = 33500) under electrolysis at +1.70 V in H2O (pH 4.0). Various physical measurements and DFT calculations indicated that a radical coupling between two Ru(sq)(O?.) groups forms a (cat)Ru‐O‐O‐Ru(sq) (cat = 3,5‐di‐t‐butylcathechol) framework with a μ‐superoxo bond. Successive removal of four electrons from the cat, sq, and superoxo groups of [Ru2(btpyan)(cat)(sq)(μ‐O2?)]0 assisted with an attack of two water (or OH?) to Ru centers, which causes smooth O2 evolution with regeneration of [Ru2(btpyan)(q)2(OH)2]2+. Deprotonation of an Ru‐quinone‐ammonia complex also gave the corresponding Ru‐semiquinone‐aminyl radical. The oxidized form of the latter showed a high catalytic activity towards the oxidation of methanol in the presence of base. Three complexes, [Ru(bpy)2(CO)2]2+, [Ru(bpy)2(CO)(C(O)OH)]+, and [Ru(bpy)2(CO)(CO2)]0 exist as an equilibrium mixture in water. Treatment of [Ru(bpy)2(CO)2]2+ with BH4? gave [Ru(bpy)2(CO)(C(O)H)]+, [Ru(bpy)2(CO)(CH2OH)]+, and [Ru(bpy)2(CO)(OH2)]2+ with generation of CH3OH in aqueous conditions. Based on these results, a reasonable catalytic pathway from CO2 to CH3OH in electro‐ and photochemical CO2 reduction is proposed. A new pbn (pbn = 2‐pyridylbenzo[b]‐1,5‐naphthyridine) ligand was designed as a renewable hydride donor for the six‐electron reduction of CO2. A series of [Ru(bpy)3‐n(pbn)n]2+ (n = 1, 2, 3) complexes undergoes photochemical two‐ (n = 1), four‐ (n = 2), and six‐electron reductions (n = 3) under irradiation of visible light in the presence of N(CH2CH2OH)3. © 2009 The Japan Chemical Journal Forum and Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The chemiluminescence behaviour and mechanism of peroxynitrous acid and Ru(bpy)32+ were studied in the presence of short-chain alcohols (methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, butanol, 2-methylpropan-1-ol, pentanol). It was found that the chemiluminescence intensity of peroxynitrous acid and Ru(bpy)32+ system could be significantly enhanced by these seven short-chain alcohols. The maximum chemiluminescence wavelength of 608 nm of [Ru(bpy)32+]* in the excited state was attributed to the reaction between Ru(bpy)32+ and dihydroxyalkyl radicals which were generated during the redox course of peroxynitrous acid and alcohols. In addition, the chemiluminescence signals of the system presented depended largely on the solubility and branched-chain structure as well as the length of carbon chain. The analytical characteristics and parameters of the peroxynitrous acid/Ru(bpy)32+/alcohols chemiluminescence system were investigated under optimum conditions.  相似文献

The electrochemiluminescence of bis(2, 2′-bipyridine) (dipyrido[3, 2-a:2′ 3′-c]phenazine-N4N5) ruthenium(II) ([Ru(bpy)2(dppz)]2+) was used to monitor deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) charge transfer with tri-n-propylamine as a coreactant. This system was used to measure damage to DNA induced by perfluorooctanoic acid. Fifteen-base pairs of double-stranded DNA with a thiol group at the 5′ end position were covalently bonded to a gold electrode. An electrochemiluminescence sensor was then constructed by incubating the modified gold electrode in [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)]2+ solution for 30 min. For comparison, single-stranded DNA, well-matched double-stranded DNA, and single base-mismatched double-stranded DNA were assembled on the gold surface. The results showed that the electrochemiluminescence behavior of the DNA sensors were unique. The electrochemiluminescence decreased when the [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)]2+-DNA ECL sensor was incubated in a perfluorooctanoic acid solution. The damage to DNA caused by perfluorooctanoic acid was monitored using a combination of DNA charge transfer theory and the interaction between DNA and [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)]2+. The detection limit for perfluorooctanoic acid was 1 × 10?12 mol/L. [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)]2+ was shown to be a sensitive electrochemiluminescence sensor for the determination of DNA damage.  相似文献

[Fe(CN)5NO]2–, (1) and [Ru(bpy)2(NO)Cl]2+, (2) react with PhCH2NH2 to produce mainly N-benzylphenyl-methanimine and PhCN as oxidation products. (PhCH2)2NH, PhCH2Cl and PhCH2OH are formed as diazotization products. Products derived from the benzyl radical (such as PhMe), are also formed. Since oxidation products are generated even in the absence of oxygen, a mechanism in which the nitrosyl ligand acts as an oxidant is proposed.  相似文献

Two novel chiral ruthenium(II) complexes, Δ‐[Ru(bpy)2(dmppd)]2+ and Λ‐[Ru(bpy)2(dmppd)]2+ (dmppd = 10,12‐dimethylpteridino[6,7‐f] [1,10]phenanthroline‐11,13(10H,12H)‐dione, bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H‐NMR and ES‐MS. The DNA‐binding behaviors of both complexes were studied by UV/VIS absorption titration, competitive binding experiments, viscosity measurements, thermal DNA denaturation, and circular‐dichroism spectra. The results indicate that both chiral complexes bind to calf‐thymus DNA in an intercalative mode, and the Δ enantiomer shows larger DNA affinity than the Λ enantiomer does. Theoretical‐calculation studies for the DNA‐binding behaviors of these complexes were carried out by the density‐functional‐theory method. The mechanism involved in the regulating and controlling of the DNA‐binding abilities of the complexes was further explored by the comparative studies of [Ru(bpy)2(dmppd)]2+ and of its parent complex [Ru(bpy)2(ppd)]2+ (ppd = pteridino[6,7‐f] [1,10]phenanthroline‐11,13 (10H,12H)‐dione).  相似文献

A chemo‐sensor [Ru(bpy)2(bpy‐DPF)](PF6)2 ( 1 ) (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine, bpy‐DPF=2,2′‐bipyridyl‐4,4′‐bis(N,N‐di(2‐picolyl))formylamide) for Cu2+ using di(2‐picolyl)amine (DPA) as the recognition group and a ruthenium(II) complex as the reporting group was synthesized and characterized successfully. It demonstrates a high selectivity and efficient signaling behavior only for Cu2+ with obvious red‐shifted MLCT (metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer transitions) absorptions and dramatic fluorescence quenching compared with Zn2+ and other metal ions.  相似文献

The effects of copper ion on the interaction of [Ru(bpy)2HPIP]2+(bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, HPIP = 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl) imidazo [4,5-f] [1, 10] phenanthroline) with DNA have been investigated by electronic absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. HPIP ligand of the complex with an intramolecular hydrogen bond can bind Cu2+ in the absence of DNA, as revealed by the absorbance and fluorescence decrease for [Ru(bpy)2HPIP]2+. The resultant heterometallic complex binds to DNA via intercalation of HPIP into the DNA base pairs and its DNA-binding ability is stronger than [Ru(bpy)2HPIP]2+ itself. The DNA bound [Ru(bpy)2HPIP]2+ cannot bind Cu2+ at low Cu2+ concentration and the intramolecular hydrogen bond in HPIP is located inside the DNA helix. While the Cu2+ concentration is relative high, Cu2+ can quench the fluorescence of DNA bound [Ru(bpy)2HPIP]2+. The quenching reason is proposed.  相似文献

Three Ru(bpy)32+ derivatives tethered to multiple viologen acceptors, [Ru(bpy)2(4,4′‐MV2)]6+, [Ru(bpy)2(4,4′‐MV4)]10+, and [Ru(bpy)(4,4′‐MV4)2]18+ [bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine, 4,4′‐MV2=4‐ethoxycarbonyl‐4′‐(N‐G1‐carbamoyl)‐2,2′‐bipyridine, and 4,4′‐MV4=4,4′‐bis(N‐G1‐carbamoyl)‐2,2′‐bipyridine, where G1=Asp(NHG2)‐NHG2 and G2=‐(CH2)2‐N+C5H4‐C5H4N+‐CH3] were prepared as “photo‐charge separators (PCSs)”. Photoirradiation of these complexes in the presence of a sacrificial electron donor (EDTA) results in storage of electrons per PCS values of 1.3, 2.7, and 4.6, respectively. Their applications in the photochemical H2 evolution from water in the presence of a colloidal Pt H2‐evolving catalyst were investigated, and are discussed along with those reported for [Ru(bpy)2(5,5′‐MV4)]10+, [Ru(4,4′‐MV4)3]26+, and [Ru(5,5′‐MV4)3]26+ (Inorg. Chem. Front. 2016 , 3, 671–680). The PCSs with high dimerization constants (Kd=105–106 m ?1) are superior in driving H2 evolution at pH 5.0, whereas those with lower Kd values (103–104 m ?1) are superior at pH 7.0, where Kd=[(MV+)2]/[MV+ . ]2. The (MV+)2 site can drive H2 evolution only at pH 5.0 as a result of its 0.15 eV lower driving force for H2 evolution relative to MV+ . , whereas the PCSs with lower Kd values exhibit higher performance at pH 7.0 owing to the higher population of free MV+ . . Importantly, the rate of electron charging over the PCSs is linear to the apparent H2 evolution rate, and shows an intriguing quadratic dependence on the number of MV2+ units per PCS.  相似文献

Ruthenium(II) bisbipyridyl complexes cis-[Ru(bpy)2(L)NO2](BF4) (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridyl) with 4-substituted pyridine ligands L = 4-(Y)py (Y = NH2, Me, Ph, and CN) were obtained. The equilibrium constants of the reversible nitro-nitrosyl transition [Ru(bpy)2(L)NO2]+ + 2H+ [Ru(bpy)2(L)NO]3 + + H2O were measured in solutions with pH 1.5-8.5 (ionic strength 0.4). The constants correlate with the protonation constants of free ligands 4-(Y)py.  相似文献

The complexes [Ru(bpy)2(pyESO)](PF6)2 and [Os(bpy)2(pyESO)](PF6)2, in which bpy is 2,2′‐bipyridine and pyESO is 2‐((isopropylsulfinyl)ethyl)pyridine, were prepared and studied by 1H NMR, UV–visible and ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, as well as by electrochemical methods. Crystals suitable for X‐ray structural analysis were grown for [Ru(bpy)2(pyESO)](PF6)2. Cyclic voltammograms of both complexes provide evidence for S→O and O→S isomerization as these voltammograms are described by an ECEC (electrochemical‐chemical electrochemical‐chemical) mechanism in which isomerization follows Ru2+ oxidation and Ru3+ reduction. The S‐ and O‐bonded Ru3+/2+ couples appear at 1.30 and 0.76 V versus Ag/AgCl in propylene carbonate. For [Os(bpy)2(pyESO)](PF6)2, these couples appear at 0.97 and 0.32 V versus Ag/AgCl in acetonitrile, respectively. Charge‐transfer excitation of [Ru(bpy)2(pyESO)](PF6)2 results in a significant change in the absorption spectrum. The S‐bonded isomer of [Ru(bpy)2(pyESO)]2+ features a lowest energy absorption maximum at 390 nm and the O‐bonded isomer absorbs at 480 nm. The quantum yield of isomerization in [Ru(bpy)2(pyESO)]2+ was found to be 0.58 in propylene carbonate and 0.86 in dichloroethane solution. Femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopic measurements were collected for both complexes, revealing time constants of isomerizations of 81 ps (propylene carbonate) and 47 ps (dichloroethane) in [Ru(bpy)2(pyESO)]2+. These data and a model for the isomerizing complex are presented. A striking conclusion from this analysis is that expansion of the chelate ring by a single methylene leads to an increase in the isomerization time constant by nearly two orders of magnitude.  相似文献

The luminescence behavior of Ru(bpy)2(pq)2+, Ru(bpy)2(biq)2+, Ru(bpy)2(NO2-bpy)2+, Ru(phen)2(pq)2+, Ru(phen)2 (biq)2+, Ru(phen)2 (DMCH)2+, Ru(bpy)2(i-biq)2+ and Ru(bpy)(i-biq)22+ has been carefully studied. In no case has bona fide dual emission been observed. The reason for the previously reported dual emissions of Ru(bpy)2(NO2-bpy)2+ and Ru(phen)2(pq)2+ are discussed.  相似文献

Photochemical polymerization ofN,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) initiated by the dye-reducing agent rhodamine-B-allylthiourea (ATU) system is enhanced by the addition of small amounts oftris(2,2′-bipyridine)-ruthenium(II), Ru(bpy) 3 2+ , a result attributed to the efficient formation of chain-initiating allylthiourea radicals in the presence of Ru(bpy) 3 2+ ions. The rate of polymerization was found to be proportional to [Ru(bpy) 3 2+ ]0.5, [rhodamine-B]0.5, [ATU]0.5 and [MBA]1.0. A probable mechanism consistent with the observed results is proposed and discussed. TMC 2391  相似文献

Transition metal complexes with photoactive charge-transfer excited states are pervasive throughout the literature. In particular, [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy=2,2′-bipyridine), with its metal-to-ligand charge-transfer emission, has been established as a key complex. Meanwhile, interest in so-called spin-flip metal-centered states has risen dramatically after the molecular ruby [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ (ddpd=N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-dipyridin-2-yl-pyridine-2,6-diamine) led to design principles to access strong, long-lived emission from photostable chromium(III) complexes. This Review contrasts the properties of emissive charge-transfer and spin-flip states by using [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ as prototypical examples. We discuss the relevant excited states, the tunability of their energy and lifetimes, and their response to external stimuli. Finally, we identify strengths and weaknesses of charge-transfer and spin-flip states in applications such as photocatalysis and circularly polarized luminescence.  相似文献

A novel ligand 3‐(1H‐imidazo[4,5‐f][1,10]phenanthrolin‐2‐yl)‐4H‐1‐benzopyran‐4‐one (ipbp) and its ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(bpy)2(ipbp)]2+ ( 1 ) and [Ru(ipbp)(phen)2]2+ ( 2 ) (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine, phen=1,10‐phenanthroline) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and mass, 1H‐NMR, and electronic‐absorption spectroscopy. The electrochemical behavior of the complexes was studied by cyclic voltammetry. The DNA‐binding behavior of the complexes was investigated by spectroscopic methods and viscosity measurements. The results indicate that complexes 1 and 2 bind with calf‐thymus DNA in an intercalative mode. In addition, 1 and 2 promote cleavage of plasmid pBR 322 DNA from the supercoil form I to the open circular form II upon irradiation.  相似文献

Reaction of 2-(phenylazo)pyridine (pap) with [Ru(PPh3)3X2] (X = Cl, Br) in dichloromethane solution affords [Ru(PPh3)2(pap)X2]. These diamagnetic complexes exhibit a weakdd transition and two intense MLCT transitions in the visible region. In dichloromethane solution they display a one-electron reduction of pap near − 0.90 V vs SCE and a reversible ruthenium(II)-ruthenium(III) oxidation near 0.70 V vs SCE. The [RuIII(PPh3)2(pap)Cl2]+ complex cation, generated by coulometric oxidation of [Ru(PPh3)2(pap)Cl2], shows two intense LMCT transitions in the visible region. It oxidizes N,N-dimethylaniline and [RuII(bpy)2Cl2] (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) to produce N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylbenzidine and [RuIII(bpy)2Cl2]+ respectively. Reaction of [Ru(PPh3)2(pap)X2] with Ag+ in ethanol produces [Ru(PPh3)2(pap)(EtOH)2]2+ which upon further reaction with L (L = pap, bpy, acetylacetonate ion(acac) and oxalate ion (ox2−)) gives complexes of type [Ru(PPh3)2(pap)(L)]n+ (n = 0, 1, 2). All these diamagnetic complexes show a weakdd transition and several intense MLCT transitions in the visible region. The ruthenium(II)-ruthenium(III) oxidation potential decreases in the order (of L): pap > bpy > acac > ox2−. Reductions of the coordinated pap and bpy are also observed.  相似文献

DFT calculations are performed on [RuII(bpy)2(tmen)]2+ ( M1 , tmen=2,3‐dimethyl‐2,3‐butanediamine) and [RuII(bpy)2(heda)]2+ ( M2 , heda=2,5‐dimethyl‐2,5‐hexanediamine), and on the oxidation reactions of M1 to give the C?C bond cleavage product [RuII(bpy)2(NH=CMe2)2]2+ ( M3 ) and the N?O bond formation product [RuII(bpy)2(ONCMe2CMe2NO)]2+ ( M4 ). The calculated geometrical parameters and oxidation potentials are in good agreement with the experimental data. As revealed by the DFT calculations, [RuII(bpy)2(tmen)]2+ ( M1 ) can undergo oxidative deprotonation to generate Ru‐bis(imide) [Ru(bpy)2(tmen‐4 H)]+ ( A ) or Ru‐imide/amide [Ru(bpy)2(tmen‐3 H)]2+ ( A′ ) intermediates. Both A and A′ are prone to C?C bond cleavage, with low reaction barriers (ΔG) of 6.8 and 2.9 kcal mol?1 for their doublet spin states 2 A and 2 A′ , respectively. The calculated reaction barrier for the nucleophilic attack of water molecules on 2 A′ is relatively high (14.2 kcal mol?1). These calculation results are in agreement with the formation of the RuII‐bis(imine) complex M3 from the electrochemical oxidation of M1 in aqueous solution. The oxidation of M1 with CeIV in aqueous solution to afford the RuII‐dinitrosoalkane complex M4 is proposed to proceed by attack of the cerium oxidant on the ruthenium imide intermediate. The findings of ESI‐MS experiments are consistent with the generation of a ruthenium imide intermediate in the course of the oxidation.  相似文献

Based on data from more than 40 crystal structures of metal complexes with azo‐based bridging ligands (2,2′‐azobispyridine, 2,2′‐azobis(5‐chloropyrimidine), azodicarbonyl derivatives), a correlation between the N? N bond lengths (dNN) and the oxidation state of the ligand (neutral, neutral/back‐donating, radical‐anionic, dianionic) was derived. This correlation was applied to the analysis of four ruthenium compounds of 2,2′‐azobispyridine (abpy), that is, the new asymmetrical rac‐[(acac)2Ru1(μ‐abpy)Ru2(bpy)2](ClO4)2 ([ 1 ](ClO4)2), [Ru(acac)2(abpy)] ( 2 ), [Ru(bpy)2(abpy)](ClO4)2 ([ 3 ](ClO4)2), and meso‐[(bpy)2Ru(μ‐abpy)Ru(bpy)2](ClO4)3 ([ 4 ](ClO4)3; acac?=2,4‐pentanedionato, bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine). In agreement with DFT calculations, both mononuclear species 2 and 3 2+ can be described as ruthenium(II) complexes of unreduced abpy0, with 1.295(5)<dNN<1.320(3) Å, thereby exhibiting effects from π back‐donation. However, the abpy ligand in both the asymmetrical diamagnetic compound 1 2+ (dNN=1.374(6) Å) and the symmetrical compound 4 3+ (dNN=1.360(7), 1.368(8) Å) must be formulated as abpy.?. Remarkably, the addition of [RuII(bpy)2]2+ to mononuclear [RuII(acac)2(abpy0)] induces intracomplex electron‐transfer under participation of the noninnocent abpy bridge to yield rac‐[(acac)2Ru1III(μ‐abpy.?)Ru2II(bpy)2]2+ ( 1 2+) with strong antiferromagnetic coupling between abpy.? and RuIII (DFT (B3LYP/LANL2DZ/6‐31G*)‐calculated triplet–singlet energy separation ES=1?ES=0=11739 cm?1). Stepwise one‐electron transfer was studied for compound 1 n, n=1?, 0, 1+, 2+, 3+, by UV/Vis/NIR spectroelectrochemistry, EPR spectroscopy, and by DFT calculations. Whereas the first oxidation of compound 1 2+ was found to mainly involve the central ligand to produce an (abpy0)‐bridged Class I mixed‐valent Ru1IIIRu2II species, the first reduction of compound 1 2+ affected both the bridge and Ru1 atom to form a radical complex ( 1 +), with considerable metal participation in the spin‐distribution. Further reduction moves the spin towards the {Ru2(bpy)2} entity.  相似文献

Subtle ligand modifications on RuII-polypyridyl complexes may result in different excited-state characteristics, which provides the opportunity to tune their photo-physicochemical properties and subsequently change their biological functions. Here, a DNA-targeting RuII-polypyridyl complex (named Ru1 ) with highly photosensitizing 3IL (intraligand) excited state was designed based on a classical DNA-intercalator [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)] ⋅ 2 PF6 by incorporation of the dppz (dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine) ligand tethered with a pyrenyl group, which has four orders of magnitude higher potency than the model complex [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)] ⋅ 2 PF6 upon light irradiation. This study provides a facile strategy for the design of organelle-targeting RuII-polypyridyl complexes with dramatically improved photobiological activity.  相似文献

The time dependence of the voltammetric waves of [Fe(bpy)3]2+ adsorbed in clay-modified electrodes (CMES) differed greatly from those of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and [Os(bpy)3]2+. The currents obtained with the ruthenium and osmium cations were essentially constant in the first 2 h that the CME spent in the blank electrolyte. For [Fe(bpy)3]2+, the maximum currents were twice as large. After a sharp rise in the first few scans, they decreased rapidly to less than half of their maximum values after 40 min. The decrease was more rapid when the potential was scanned continuously or when the pH of the electrolyte was increased. Coulometry shows that a larger fraction of the adsorbed [Fe(bpy)3] 2+ cations were oxidized and that they were oxidized much more rapidly than the other two cations. The unique behaviour of [Fe(bpy)3]2+ is attributed to its dissociation in the CME. UV—visible spectroscopy shows that significant dissociation of this cation occurred on the time-scale of the electrochemical measurements. Much larger currents were also found for CMEs containing cis- or trans-[Ru(bpy)2(H2O)2] 2+, and these are attributed to the greater mobility of adsorbed bis-bipyridyl cations.  相似文献
