In this paper, a unified model for time-dependent Maxwell equations in dispersive media is considered. The space-time DG method developed in [29] is applied to solve the underlying problem. Unconditional L2-stability and error estimate of order O τr+1+ hk+1/2 are obtained when polynomials of degree at most r and k are used for the temporal discretization and spatial discretization respectively. 2-D and 3-D numerical examples are given to validate the theoretical results. Moreover, numerical results show an ultra-convergence of order 2r + 1 in temporal variable t.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the time dependent Maxwell's equations in dispersive media on a bounded three-dimensional domain. Global superconvergence is obtained for semi-discrete mixed finite element methods for three most popular dispersive media models: the isotropic cold plasma, the one-pole Debye medium, and the two-pole Lorentz medium. Global superconvergence for a standard finite element method is also presented. To our best knowledge, this is the first superconvergence analysis obtained for Maxwell's equations when dispersive media are involved.

In this article, we consider the time‐dependent Maxwell's equations in a bounded domain when dispersive media are involved. The Crank‐Nicolson scheme is developed to approximate the electric field equation by Nedelec edge elements and is proved to be optimal convergent in energy norm. The analysis is carried out for Debye medium, but the same results hold true for other dispersive media such as plasma and Lorentz medium. Furthermore, our analysis extends straightforward to cases when a dispersive medium and a simple medium (such as air) are coupled. The local discontinuous Galerkin method for the numerical approximation of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations in a low-frequency regime is introduced and analyzed. Topologically nontrivial domains and heterogeneous media are considered, containing both conducting and insulating materials. The presented method involves discontinuous Galerkin discretizations of the curl-curl and grad-div operators, derived by introducing suitable auxiliary variables and so-called numerical fluxes. An -analysis is carried out and error estimates that are optimal in the meshsize and slightly suboptimal in the approximation degree are obtained.

This article presents a complete discretization of a nonlinear Sobolev equation using space-time discontinuous Galerkin method that is discontinuous in time and continuous in space. The scheme is formulated by introducing the equivalent integral equation of the primal equation. The proposed scheme does not explicitly include the jump terms in time, which represent the discontinuity characteristics of approximate solution. And then the complexity of the theoretical analysis is reduced. The existence and uniqueness of the approximate solution and the stability of the scheme are proved. The optimalorder error estimates in L2(H1) and L2(L2) norms are derived. These estimates are valid under weak restrictions on the space-time mesh, namely, without the condition knch2, which is necessary in traditional space-time discontinuous Galerkin methods. Numerical experiments are presented to verify the theoretical results.  相似文献

This paper presents the study of maximal regularity properties for anisotropic differential-operator equations with VMO (vanishing mean oscillation) coefficients. We prove that the corresponding differential operator is separable and is a generator of analytic semigroup in vector-valued Lp spaces. Moreover, discreetness of spectrum and completeness of root elements of this operator is obtained.  相似文献

In this article, we consider Maxwell's equations in an isotropic, inhomogeneous and non-stationary medium. We discuss an inverse problem of determining the t-independent components of the coefficients ?, μ in the constitutive relations from a finite number of interior measurements. We prove a Lipschitz stability estimate for the inverse problem by applying the argument on the basis of Carleman estimate.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a new discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element method for solving time dependent partial differential equations (PDEs) with higher order spatial derivatives. Unlike the traditional local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) method, the method in this paper can be applied without introducing any auxiliary variables or rewriting the original equation into a larger system. Stability is ensured by a careful choice of interface numerical fluxes. The method can be designed for quite general nonlinear PDEs and we prove stability and give error estimates for a few representative classes of PDEs up to fifth order. Numerical examples show that our scheme attains the optimal -th order of accuracy when using piecewise -th degree polynomials, under the condition that is greater than or equal to the order of the equation.

In this paper we develop and study a new stabilized finite volume method for the two-dimensional Stokes equations. This method is based on a local Gauss integration technique and the conforming elements of the lowest-equal order pair (i.e., the P 1P 1 pair). After a relationship between this method and a stabilized finite element method is established, an error estimate of optimal order in the H 1-norm for velocity and an estimate in the L 2-norm for pressure are obtained. An optimal error estimate in the L 2-norm for the velocity is derived under an additional assumption on the body force. Considering the Cauchy problem for the critical complex Ginzburg-Landau equation in H1(Rn), we shall show the asymptotic behavior for its solutions in C(0, ∖;H1(Rn)) ∩ L2(0, ∖;H1,2n/(n-2)(R2)), n≥3. Analogous results also hold in the case that the nonlinearity has the subcritical power in H1(Rn), n≥1. Dedicated to Professor Zhou Yulin for his 80th birthday.  相似文献

A combined method consisting of the mixed finite element method for flow and the local discontinuous Galerkin method for transport is introduced for the one-dimensional coupled system of incompressible miscible displacement problem. Optimal error estimates in L∞(0,T;L2) for concentration c,in L2(0,T;L2)for cxand L∞(0,T;L2) for velocity u are derived. The main technical difficulties in the analysis include the treatment of the inter-element jump terms which arise from the discontinuous nature of the numerical method, the nonlinearity, and the coupling of the models. Numerical experiments are performed to verify the theoretical results. Finally,we apply this method to the one-dimensional compressible miscible displacement problem and give the numerical experiments to confirm the efficiency of the scheme.  相似文献

Here, we solve the time-dependent acoustic and elastic wave equations using the discontinuous Galerkin method for spatial discretization and the low-storage Runge-Kutta and Crank-Nicolson methods for time integration. The aim of the present paper is to study how to choose the order of polynomial basis functions for each element in the computational mesh to obtain a predetermined relative error. In this work, the formula 2p+1≈κhk, which connects the polynomial basis order p, mesh parameter h, wave number k, and free parameter κ, is studied. The aim is to obtain a simple selection method for the order of the basis functions so that a relatively constant error level of the solution can be achieved. The method is examined using numerical experiments. The results of the experiments indicate that this method is a promising approach for approximating the degree of the basis functions for an arbitrarily sized element. However, in certain model problems we show the failure of the proposed selection scheme. In such a case, the method provides an initial basis for a more general p-adaptive discontinuous Galerkin method.  相似文献

Numerical methods for systems of weakly singular Volterra integral equations are rarely considered in the literature, especially if the equations involve non-linear dependencies between unknowns and their integrals. In the present work an adaptive Huber method for such systems is proposed, by extending the method previously formulated for single weakly singular second kind Volterra equations. The method is tested on example systems of integral equations involving integrals with kernels K(tτ) = (t − τ)−1/2, K(tτ) = exp[−λ(t − τ)](t − τ)−1/2 (where λ > 0), and K(tτ) = 1. The magnitude of the errors, and practical accuracy orders, observed for IE systems, are comparable to those for single IEs. In cases when the solution vector is not differentiable at t = 0, the estimation of errors at t = 0 is found somewhat less reliable for IE systems, than it was for single IEs. The stability of the IE systems solved appears to be sufficient, in practice, for the numerical stability of the method.  相似文献

The plan of this paper is to obtain one-point iterative methods with any R-order of convergence, when they are applied to approximate solutions of quadratic equations in Banach spaces. To do this, we consider real Cauchy's method and, under certain natural modifications, it is extended to Banach spaces. Some applications are also provided.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to prove the well-posedness (existence and uniqueness) of the Lp entropy solution to the homogeneous Dirichlet problems for the anisotropic degenerate parabolic-hyperbolic equations with Lp initial value. We use the device of doubling variables and some technical analysis to prove the uniqueness result. Moreover we can prove that the Lp entropy solution can be obtained as the limit of solutions of the corresponding regularized equations of nondegenerate parabolic type.  相似文献
