Let HPn be the quaternionic projective space with constant quaternionic sectional curvature 4. Then locally there exists a tripe {I, J, K} of complex structures on HPn satisfying U = -JI = K,JK = -KJ = /, KI = -IK = J. A surface M(?) HPn is called totally real, if at each point p ∈M the tangent plane TPM is perpendicular to I(TPM), J(TPM) and K(TPM). It is known that any surface M(?)RPn(?) HPn is totally real, where RPn (?) HPn is the standard embedding of real projective space in HPn induced by the inclusion R in H, and that there are totally real surfaces in HPn which don't come from this way. In this paper we show that any totally real minimal 2-sphere in HPn is isometric to a full minimal 2-sphere in Rp2m (?) RPn(?) HPn with 2m≤n. As a consequence we show that the Veronese sequences in KP2m (m≥1) are the only totally real minimal 2-spheres with constant curvature in the quaternionic projective space.  相似文献

We consider real hypersurfaces M in complex projective space equipped with both the Levi–Civita and generalized Tanaka–Webster connections and classify them when the covariant derivatives associated with both connections, either in the direction of the structure vector field or any direction of the maximal holomorphic distribution, coincide when applying to the Riemannian curvature tensor of the real hypersurface.  相似文献

In this paper we study the topological and metric rigidity of hypersurfaces in ℍ n+1, the (n + 1)-dimensional hyperbolic space of sectional curvature −1. We find conditions to ensure a complete connected oriented hypersurface in ℍ n+1 to be diffeomorphic to a Euclidean sphere. We also give sufficient conditions for a complete connected oriented closed hypersurface with constant norm of the second fundamental form to be totally umbilic.  相似文献

Let Mn be an n-dimensional complete connected and oriented hypersurface in a hyperbolic space Hn+1(c) with non-zero constant mean curvature H and two distinct principal curvatures. In this paper, we show that (1) if the multiplicities of the two distinct principal curvatures are greater than 1,then Mn is isometric to the Riemannian product Sk(r)×Hn-k(-1/(r2 + ρ2)), where r > 0 and 1 < k < n - 1;(2)if H2 > -c and one of the two distinct principal curvatures is simple, then Mn is isometric to the Riemannian product Sn-1(r) × H1(-1/(r22)) or S1(r) × Hn-1(-1/(r22)),r > 0, if one of the following conditions is satisfied (i) S≤(n-1)t22+c2t-22 on Mn or (ii)S≥ (n-1)t21+c2t-21 on Mn or(iii)(n-1)t22+c2t-22≤ S≤(n-1)t21+c2t-21 on Mn, where t1 and t2 are the positive real roots of (1.5).  相似文献

We give a characterization of totally η-umbilical real hypersurfaces and ruled real hypersurfaces of a complex space form in terms of totally umbilical condition for the holomorphic distribution on real hypersurfaces. We prove that if the shape operator A of a real hypersurface M of a complex space form M n (c), c ≠ 0, n ⩾ 3, satisfies g(AX, Y) = ag(X, Y) for any X, YT 0(x), a being a function, where T 0 is the holomorphic distribution on M, then M is a totally η-umbilical real hypersurface or locally congruent to a ruled real hypersurface. This condition for the shape operator is a generalization of the notion of η-umbilical real hypersurfaces.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that a complete spacelike hypersurface in de Sitter space such that its image under the Gauss map is contained in a hyperbolic geodesic ball of radius is necessarily compact and its -dimensional volume satisfies , where denotes the volume of a unitary round -sphere. We also characterize the case where these inequalities become equalities. As an application of our result, we also conclude that Goddard's conjecture is true under the assumption that the hyperbolic image of the hypersurface is bounded.

In this paper, we introduce the notion of Reeb parallel Ricci tensor for homogeneous real hypersurfaces in complex hyperbolic two‐plane Grassmannians which has a remarkable geometric structure as a Hermitian symmetric space of rank 2. We investigate the spacelike hypersurfaces in Lorentzian space forms (n?4) with two distinct non-simple principal curvatures without the assumption that the (high order) mean curvature is constant. We prove that any spacelike hypersurface in Lorentzian space forms with two distinct non-simple principal curvatures is locally conformal to the Riemannian product of two constant curved manifolds. We also obtain some characterizations for hyperbolic cylinders in Lorentzian space forms in terms of the trace free part of the second fundamental form.  相似文献
