α from natural radioactivity may interact with a nucleus and emit a neutron. The reaction introduces the background to the liquid scintillator(LS) based neutrino experiments. In the LS detector, α comes from 238 U,232Th,and 210 Po decay chains. For Gadolinium-doped LS(Gd-LS) detector, α also comes from 227 Ac. The nucleus 13 C is a natural component of Carbon which is rich in the LS. The background rate and spectrum should be subtracted carefully from the neutrino candidates. This paper describes the calculation of neutron yield and spectrum with uncertainty estimated. The results are relevant for many existing neutrino experiments and future LS or Gd-LS based experiments.  相似文献

Ion photon emission microscopy(IPEM) is a new ion-induced emission microscopy. It employs a broad ion beam with high energy and low fluence rate impinging on a sample. The position of a single ion is detected by an optical system with objective lens, prism, microscope tube and charge coupled device(CCD). A thin ZnS lilm doped with Ag ions is used as a luminescent material. Generation efficiency and transmission efficiency of photons in the ZnS(Ag) film created by irradiated Cl ions are calculated. A single Cl ion optical microscopic image is observed by high quantum efficiency CCD. The resolution of a single Cl ion given in this IPEM system is 6μm. Several factors influencing the resolution are discussed. A silicon diode is used to collect the electrical signals caused by the incident ions. Effective and accidental coincidence of optical images and electronic signals are illustrated. A two-dimensional map of single event effect is drawn out according to the data of effective coincidence.  相似文献

We propose a photonics-assisted equivalent frequency sampling(EFS)method to analyze the instantaneous frequency of broadband linearly frequency modulated(LFM)microwave signals.The proposed EFS method is implemented by a photonic scanning receiver,which is operated with a frequency scanning rate slightly different from the repetition rate of the LFM signals.Compared with the broadband LFM signal analysis based on temporal sampling,the proposed method avoids the use of high-speed analog to digital converters,and the instantaneous frequency acquisition realized by frequency-to-time mapping is also simplified since real-time Fourier transformation is not required.Feasibility of the proposed method is verified through an experiment,in which frequency analysis of Kα-band LFM signals with a bandwidth up to 3 GHz is demonstrated with a moderate sampling rate of 100 MSa/s.The proposed method is highly demanded for analyzing the instantaneous frequency of broadband LFM signals used in radar and electronic warfare systems.  相似文献

A gamma spectrum of a Pu-C source is measured using a p-type HPGe detector, whose three peaks (full energy, single-escape and double-escape peak) can be used as a calibration source for the beam energy measurement system of BEPCII. The effect of fast neutron damage on the energy resolution of the HPGe detector is studied, which indicates that the energy resolution begins to deteriorate when the detector is subject to 2×107 n/cm2 fastneutrons. The neutron damage mechanism and detector repair methods are reviewed. The Monte Carlo simulation technique is utilized to study the shielding of the HPGe detector from the fast neutron radiation damage, which is of great significance for the future commissioning of the beam energy measurement system.  相似文献

Transient coherent oscillations in a closed Λ system under far-off resonant Raman fields were investigated theoretically. It has been found that the coherent superposition of the ground states can be formed due to the absorption even for initial maximal mixed ground states. The absorption oscillates with a period depending on the two-photon detuning when the system is initially in a transparent state and the two-photon Raman detuning is suddenly changed. The amplitude of the absorption decays with the decay rate of the ground states, which is different from the case when the lasers are applied resonantly. These transient coherent oscillations can be used to measure the relaxation rate of the ground states.  相似文献

A photoacoustic system with an annular transducer array is presented for rapid, high-resolution photoacoustic tomography of animals. An eight-channel data acquisition system is applied to capture the photoacoustic signals by using multiplexing and the total time of data acquisition and transferring is within 3 s. A limited-view filtered back projection algorithm is used to reconstruct the photoacoustic images. Experiments are performed on a mouse head and a rabbit head and clear photoacoustic images are obtained. The experimental results demonstrate that this imaging system holds the potential for imaging the human brain.  相似文献

We investigate the J/Ψ? invariant mass distribution in the e~+e~-→γJ/Ψ? reaction at a center-of-mass energy of ■=4.6 GeV measured by the BESⅢ collaboration,which concluded that no significant signals were observed for e~+e~-→γX(4140) because of the low statistics.We show,however,that the J/Ψ? invariant mass distribution is compatible with the existence of the X(4140) state,appearing as a peak,and a strong cusp structure at the D_s~*■threshold,resulting from the molecular nature of the X(4160) state,which provides a substantial contribution to the reaction.This is consistent with our previous analysis of the B~+→J/Ψ?K~+decay measured by the LHCb collaboration.We strongly suggest further measurements of this process with more statistics to clarify the nature of the X(4140) and X(4160) resonances.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate multichannel wavelength multicasting for two nonreturn-to-zero quadrature phase-shift keying(NRZ-QPSK) channels based on four-wave mixing(FWM) in semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA). Through the interaction with the two pumps in SOA, the input two 25 Gb/s NRZ-QPSK channels are successfully simultaneously multicast to five and two new wavelengths, respectively. All the multicast channels are with a power penalty less than 2.5 d B at a bit error rate(BER) of 10-3. A characterization of the system performance using conversion efficiency and BER as figures-of-merit in terms of pump and signal powers is also presented. The results indicate that the pump and signal powers can be optimized to eliminate the introduced deleterious nonlinear components. The wavelengths of the two NRZ-QPSK channels and the two pumps need to be specified to avoid the crosstalk induced by high-order FWM.  相似文献

A new Digital Pulse Processing(DPP) module has been developed, based on a domino ring sampler version 4 chip(DRS4), with good time resolution for La Br3 detectors, and different digital timing analysis methods for processing the raw detector signals are reported. The module, composed of an eight channel DRS4 chip, was used as the readout electronics and acquisition system to process the output signals from XP20D0 photomultiplier tubes(PMTs). Two PMTs were coupled with La Br3 scintillators and placed on opposite sides of a radioactive positron22 Na source for 511 ke V γ-ray tests. By analyzing the raw data acquired by the module, the best coincidence timing resolution is about 194.7 ps(FWHM), obtained by the digital constant fraction discrimination(d CFD) method,which is better than other digital methods and analysis methods based on conventional analog systems which have been tested. The results indicate that it is a promising approach to better localize the positron annihilation in positron emission tomography(PET) with time of flight(TOF), as well as for scintillation timing measurement,such as in TOF-?E and TOF-E systems for particle identification, with picosecond accuracy timing measurement.Furthermore, this module is more simple and convenient than other systems.  相似文献

The barrier against the spontaneous fission has been determined within the Generalized Liquid Drop Model (GLDM) including the mass and charge asymmetry, and the proximity energy. The shell correction of the spherical parent nucleus is calculated by using the Strutinsky method, and the empirical shape-dependent shell correction is 6mp10yed during the deformation process. A quasi-molecular shape sequence has been defined to describe the whole process from one-body shape to two-body shape system, and a two-touching-ellipsoid is adopted when the superdeformed one-body system reaches the rupture point. On these bases the spontaneous fission barriers are systematically studied for nuclei from 2a~Th to 249 Cm for different possible exiting channels with the different mass and charge asymmetries. The double, and triple bumps are found in the fission potential energy in this region, which roughly agree with the experimental results. It is found that at around Sn-like fragment the outer fission barriers are lower, while the partner of the Sn-like fragment is in the range near l~SRu where the ground-state mass is lowered by allowing axially symmetric shapes. The preferable fission channels are distinctly pronounced, which should be corresponding to the fragment mass distributions.  相似文献

We provide a general dynamical approach for the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno efects in an open quantum system under repeated non-demolition measurements.In our approach the repeated measurements are described by a general dynamical model without the wave function collapse postulation.Based on that model,we further study both the short-time and long-time evolutions of the open quantum system under repeated non-demolition measurements,and derive the measurement-modified decay rates of the excited state.In the cases with frequent ideal measurements at zero-temperature,we re-obtain the same decay rate as that from the wave function collapse postulation(Nature,2000,405:546).The correction to the ideal decay rate is also obtained under the non-ideal measurements.Especially,we find that the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno efects are possibly enhanced by the non-ideal natures of measurements.For the open system under measurements with arbitrary period,we generally derive the rate equation for the long-time evolution for the cases with arbitrary temperature and noise spectrum,and show that in the long-time evolution the noise spectrum is efectively tuned by the repeated measurements.Our approach is also able to describe the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno efects given by the phase modulation pulses,as well as the relevant quantum control schemes.  相似文献

The Fermilab CKM (E921) experiment studies a rare kaon decay which has a very small branching ratio and can be very hard to separate from background processes.A trigger and DAQ system is required to collecto all necessary unformation for background rejection and to maintain high reliability at high beam rate.The unique challenges have emphasized the following guiding concepts:(1) Collecting background is as important as collecting good events.(2) A DAQ “event“ should not be just a “snap shot“ of the detector.It should be a short history record of the detector around the candidate event. The hit history provides information to understand temporary detector blindness,which is extremely important to the CKM experiment.(3) The main purpose of the trigger system should not be “knocking down trigger rate“ or “throwing out garbage events“ .Instead,it should classify the events and select appropriate data collecting straegies among various predefined ones for the given types of the events.The following methodologies are epmployed in the architecture to fulfill the experiment requirements without confronting unnecessary technical difficulties.(1) Continuous digitization near the detector elements is utilized to preserve the data quality.(2) The concept of minimum synchronization is adopted to eliminate the needs of time matching signal paths.(3) A global level 1 trigger performs coincident and veto functions using digital timing information to avoid problems due to signal degrading in long calbes.(4) The DAQ logic allows to collect chronicle records around the interesting events with different levels of detail of ADC information,so that very low energy particles in the veto systems can be best detected.(5) A re-programmable hardware trigger(L2.5)and a software trigger(L3) sitting in the DAQ stream are planned to perform data selection functioins based on full detector data with adjustability.  相似文献

This paper presents new neutron-induced single event upset(SEU) data on the SRAM devices with the technology nodes from 40 nm to 500 nm due to spallation, reactor, and monoenergetic neutrons. The SEU effect is investigated as a function of incident neutron energy spectrum, technology node, byte pattern and neutron fluence rate. The experimental data show that the SEU effect mainly depends on the incident neutron spectrum and the technology node, and the SEU sensitivity induced by low-energy neutrons significantly increases with the technology downscaling. Monte–Carlo simulations of nuclear interactions with device architecture are utilized for comparing with the experimental results. This simulation approach allows us to investigate the key parameters of the SEU sensitivity, which are determined by the technology node and supply voltage. The simulation shows that the high-energy neutrons have more nuclear reaction channels to generate more secondary particles which lead to the significant enhancement of the SEU cross-sections, and thus revealing the physical mechanism for SEU sensitivity to the incident neutron spectrum.  相似文献

The application of a high purity Germanium(HPGe) γ spectrometer in determining the fuel element burnup in a future reactor is studied.The HPGe detector is exposed by a 60Co source with varying irradiation rate from 10×103s-1 to 150×103s-1 to simulate the input counting rate in real reactor environment.A137 Cs and a152 Eu source are positioned at given distances to generate a certain event rate in the detector with the former being proposed as a labeling nuclide to measure the burnup of a fuel element.It is shown that both the energy resolution slightly increasing with the irradiation rate and the passthrough rate at high irradiation level match the requirement of the real application.The influence of the background is studied in the different parameter sets used in the specially developed procedure of background subtraction.It is demonstrated that with the typical input irradiation rate and 137Cs intensity relevant to a deep burnup situation,the precision of the 137Cs counting rate in the current experiment is consistently below 2.8%,indicating a promising feasibility of utilizing an HPGe detector in the burnup measurement in future bed-like reactors.  相似文献

Ionization of atoms in counter-rotating and co-rotating bicircular laser fields is studied using the S-matrix theory in both length and velocity gauges.We show that for both the bicircular fields,ionization rates are enhanced when the two circularly polarized lights have comparable intensities.In addition,the curves of ionization rate versus the field amplitude ratio of the two colors for counter-rotating and co-rotating fields coincide with each other in the length gauge case at the total laser intensity 5×10~(14) W/cm~2,which agrees with the experimental observation.Moreover,the degree of the coincidence between the ionization rate curves of the two bicircular fields decreases with the increasing field amplitude ratio and decreasing total laser intensity.With the help of the ADK theory,the above characteristics of the ionization rate curves can be well interpreted,which is related to the transition from the tunneling to multiphoton ionization mechanism.  相似文献

We investigate quantum dynamics of a quantum walker on a finite bipartite non-Hermitian lattice,in which the particle can leak out with certain rate whenever it visits one of the two sublattices.Quantum walker initially located on one of the non-leaky sites will finally totally disappear after a length of evolution time and the distribution of decay probability on each unit cell is obtained.In one regime,the resultant distribution shows an expected decreasing behavior as the distance from the initial site increases.However,in the other regime,we find that the resultant distribution of local decay probability is very counterintuitive,in which a relatively high population of decay probability appears on the edge unit cell which is the farthest from the starting point of the quantum walker.We then analyze the energy spectrum of the non-Hermitian lattice with pure loss,and find that the intriguing behavior of the resultant decay probability distribution is intimately related to the existence and specific property of the edge states,which are topologically protected and can be well predicted by the non-Bloch winding number.The exotic dynamics may be observed experimentally with arrays of coupled resonator optical waveguides.  相似文献

The CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron has been significantly upgraded for the collider Run Ⅱ,which started in march 2001 and is scheduled to alst until 2006,Instantaneous luminosities of 10^32cm^-2S^-1 and above are expected.A data acquisition system capable of efficiently recording the data has been one of the most critical elements of the upgrade.Key figures are the abilitity to deal with the short bunch spacing of 132ns.event sizes of the order of 250kB,and permanent logging of 20MB/s ,The design of the system and experience from the first months of data-taking operation are discussed.  相似文献

We report tumor detection using a photoacoustic technique for the imaging of angiogenesis and monitoring of agent pharmacokinetics on an animal model. We take 532-nm laser pulses to excite photoacoustic signals of blood vessels with acquisition by a broadband hydrophone, and the morphological characteristics of tumor angiogenesis are successfully image depicted. Furthermore, tumor pharmacokinetics is preformed and analyzed with fast multielement photoacoustic imaging of the intravenous-injected indocyanine green (ICG). Photoacoustic signals of ICG are excited with 805 nm laser pulses and recorded by transducer array as a function of time. The difference between the photoacoustic signal from the tumor side and that from the normal side is observed, and the ICG clearance velocity in the tumor area is found to lag behind that in the normal area. Experimental results demonstrate that photoacoustie imaging of morphological parameter and pharmacokinetics with specific agent may provide high sensitive approach for tumor detection and localization.  相似文献
