For the problem of the deformation of a composite anisotropic plate with a crack (in a linear formulation, with no assumption of symmetry), all possible power solutions are listed and general relations between the ordinary and singular solutions are revealed. The asymptotic form of the increment of the potential energy of deformation is computed for the cases of the rectilinear propagation of the crack, deviation of a shoot or branching. The form obtained for the final formula is the same as the classical version of the Griffiths formula and involves two invariant integrals. Two methods of determining the modes of radical singularities of the stress-strain state near the crack tip, associated with the use of force and energy criteria, are proposed.  相似文献

The fundamental aim of this study is the determination zone of the 3D effects and the transient one at the vicinity of the crack tip during a crack propagation in brittle materials ( PMMA ) using an optical method (Michelson interferometer). With the obtained interferograms, we can extract the phase (thus the relief) by using a new numerical approach based on the principle of images correlation between real fringes and virtual fringes. Different dynamic tests are realized by a plate loaded in mode I under a constant loading. We compare the obtained data with the two-dimensional theory of Westergaard (plane stress hypothesis) [1]. With the divergence is established, we propose a new 3D formulation, based on a formulation employed for static crack, which takes into account 3D and transient effects. For the static cracks, the 3D effects relate to a presence of the state of three-dimensional stresses. However in dynamics, the transient effects appear and are related to the crack propagation velocity. The 3D effects and transient effects lead to results equivalent to experimental ones in terms of displacement but are completely different to results given by the two-dimensional theory near the crack tip. Based on the work by Eshelby, the path-independent Jk-, M-, L- and interaction- or Ik-integrals were introduced and applied to cracks for the accurate calculation of crack tip loading quantities. Applying the FE-method to solve boundary value problems with cracks, numerically inaccurate values are observed within the crack tip region affecting the accuracy of local approaches. Simulating crack paths, local approaches face further problems as cracks are running towards interfaces, internal boundaries or other crack faces. Within global approaches, path-independent integrals are calculated along remote contours far from the crack tip, essentially exploiting numerically reliable data requiring special treatment only for the near-tip crack faces. To provide path-independence, additional integrals along interfaces, internal boundaries and crack faces are necessary. In this paper, new global approaches of path-independent integrals are presented and applied to the calculation of crack paths at two-cracks systems. A second focus is directed to the accurate loading analysis and crack path prediction considering anisotropic properties and material interfaces. 采用迭加原理和Kachanov提出的简化方法,研究了裂纹间的相互作用机理,分析了不同裂纹布置形式所产生的增强或屏蔽效应,发现当微裂纹沿着或垂直于最大拉应力方向布置时都不产生最大的作用效应,这有别于Ortiz的结论.还探讨了混凝土类材料的微裂纹的产生机制及微裂纹区对主裂纹尖端产生的作用效应,得出微裂纹区对主裂纹是起增强的作用,增强程度随微裂纹密度和微裂纹长度的增大而增大的结论.  相似文献

Recently developed continuum phase field models for brittle fracture show excellent modeling capability in situations with complex crack topologies including branching in the small and large strain applications. This work presents a generalization towards fully coupled multi-physics problems at large strains. A modular concept is outlined for the linking of the diffusive crack modeling with complex multi field material response, where the focus is put on the model problem of finite thermo-elasticity. This concerns a generalization of crack driving forces from the energetic definitions towards stress-based criteria, the constitutive modeling of degradation of non-mechanical fluxes on generated crack faces. Particular assumptions are made on the generation of convective heat exchanges approximating surface load integrals of the sharp crack approach by distinct volume integrals. The coupling effect is also shown in generation of cracks due to thermally induced stress states. We finally demonstrate the performance of the phase field formulation of fracture at large strains by means of representative numerical examples. (© 2014 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The initiation of multiple cracks in a fiber/matrix composite subjected to a torsional load is studied. The composite is made of a cylindrical fiber surrounded by a matrix of different properties. A periodic array of cracks is assumed to exist in the fiber along its central axis. A dual integral equation is formulated in terms of equivalent crack face loads. The effects of crack spacing on the crack tip field intensity factor, the stress, the torque, and the equivalent stiffness of the fiber are investigated and displayed graphically.  相似文献

The application of the configurational force approach in crack problems is often used in order to establish fracture criteria that are adapted to a specific material behaviour. The tangential component of the calculated vectorial quantity that acts at the crack tip is a generalisation of the conventional J-integral and can be interpreted as the energy release rate when the crack extends in this direction. However, the interpretation of nontangential components in the same way, and hence the interpretation of this vectorial quantity as the crack driving force, is not consistent with established kink criteria in the special case of linear elastic fracture mechanics. As a classical example, an in-plane loaded crack in a homogeneous isotropic linear elastic material is considered under the small strain assumption. Using the expansion of stress intensity factors at the extended crack tip, nontangential components of the configurational force can be interpreted as sensitivities to crack deflection. This perspective has the potential of generalisation which can be applied to more complex situations in order to study the interplay between mechanical fields in the vicinity of the crack tip and the microstructural influence within the process zone. An efficient integral equation formulation for two-dimensional crack problems is proposed with the displacement equation being used on the outer boundary and the traction equation being used on one of the crack faces. Discontinuous quarter point elements are used to correctly model the displacement in the vicinity of crack tips. Using this formulation a general crack problem can be solved in a single-region formulation, and only one of the crack faces needs to be discretised. Once the relative displacements of the cracks are solved numerically, physical quantities of interest, such as crack tip stress intensity factors can be easily obtained. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the present formulation.  相似文献

研究了无穷远纵向剪切和面内电场共同作用下,压电复合材料圆形夹杂中螺型位错与界面裂纹的电弹耦合干涉作用.运用Riemann-Schwarz 对称原理,并结合复变函数奇性主部分析方法,获得了该问题的一般解答.作为典型算例,求出了界面含一条裂纹时基体和夹杂区域复势函数和电弹性场的封闭形式解.应用广义Peach-Koehler公式,导出了位错力的解析表达式.分析了裂纹几何参数和材料的电弹性常数对位错力的影响规律.结果表明,界面裂纹对位错力和位错平衡位置有很强的扰动效应,当界面裂纹长度达到临界值时,可以改变位错力的方向.该结果可以作为格林函数研究圆形夹杂内裂纹和界面裂纹的干涉效应.其公式的退化结果与已有文献完全一致.  相似文献

In the current work, the physical phenomena of dynamic fracture of brittle materials involving crack growth, acceleration and consequent branching is simulated. The numerical modeling is based on the approach where the failure in the form of cracks or shear bands is modeled by a jump in the displacement field, the so called ‘strong discontinuity’. The finite element method is employed with this strong discontinuity approach where each finite element is capable of developing a strong discontinuity locally embedded into it. The focus in this work is on branching phenomena which is modeled by an adaptive refinement method by solving a new sub-boundary value problem represented by a finite element at the growing crack tip. The sub-boundary value problem is subjected to a certain kinematic constraint on the boundary in the form of a linear deformation constraint. An accurate resolution of the state of material at the branching crack tip is achieved which results in realistic dynamic fracture simulations. 研究了在反平面集中力和无穷远纵向剪切作用下,不同弹性材料圆形界面上有多条刚性线夹杂的问题.运用Riemann-Schwarz解析延拓技术与复势函数奇性主部分析方法,首次获得了该问题的一般解答,求出了几种典型情况的封闭解,并给出了刚性线夹杂尖端的应力场分布A·D2结果表明,在反平面加载的情况下圆形界面刚性线夹杂尖端应力具有平方根奇异性,无奇异性应力振荡;应力场与刚性线夹杂的形状,加载方式和材料性质有关.退化结果与已有的解答完全吻合.  相似文献

A method is developed to describe the formation of the stress–strain state in the vicinity of the tip of a stationary crack in a three-dimensional plate under dynamic loading. The energy model used to describe the formation of the stress concentration zone around the crack tip is modified to take into account the transient character of the loading process and the influence of the free surfaces of the plate on the stress–strain state of the central part of the sample. The method is useful for describing static and dynamic brittle fracture from a unified point of view.  相似文献

提出了一种简单而有效的平面弹性裂纹应力强度因子的边界元计算方法.该方法由Crouch与Starfield建立的常位移不连续单元和闫相桥最近提出的裂尖位移不连续单元构成A·D2在该边界元方法的实施过程中,左、右裂尖位移不连续单元分别置于裂纹的左、右裂尖处,而常位移不连续单元则分布于除了裂尖位移不连续单元占据的位置之外的整个裂纹面及其它边界.算例(如单向拉伸无限大板中心裂纹、单向拉伸无限大板中圆孔与裂纹的作用)说明平面弹性裂纹应力强度因子的边界元计算方法是非常有效的.此外,还对双轴载荷作用下有限大板中方孔分支裂纹进行了分析.这一数值结果说明平面弹性裂纹应力强度因子的边界元计算方法对有限体中复杂裂纹的有效性,可以揭示双轴载荷及裂纹体几何对应力强度因子的影响.  相似文献

The emphasis of this work lies in the development of a numerical method which is capable of representing the complex physical phenomena arising in the case of crack branching in brittle materials. In particular, the formation of crack micro-branches needs to be accounted for when it comes to the prediction of the propagation pattern of crack macro-branches which will ultimately lead to the failure of the material. This is achieved by numerically modeling the failure zones within the individual finite elements based on the concept of the embedded finite element method, where all the information with regard to the geometry of the failure zone is stored locally on the element level leading to a very efficient methodology capable of discretely resolving the failure zone. The main feature of the current work is the redundancy of the branching criterion based on crack tip velocity and that both, micro- as well as macro-branches can be modeled. Whether a micro-crack develops into a macro-crack solely depends on the local state of the material as it is outlined based on the application of the proposed numerical scheme on a rectangular block with a pre-existing notch set under tension. A comparison of the oscillatory behavior of the obtained crack tip velocity every time a micro-crack develops with experimental results from the literature is provided. The numerical modeling of dynamic failure mechanisms in solids due to fracture based on sharp crack discontinuities suffers in situations with complex crack topologies and demands the formulation of additional branching criteria. This drawback can be overcome by a diffusive crack modeling, which is based on the introduction of a crack phase field. We focus on the extension of a recently developed phase field model for fracture from the quasi-static setting towards the dynamic setting. It is obtained by taking into account inertial terms and associated dynamic integrators. The introduction of a history field, containing a maximum fracture-driving energy, provides a very transparent representation of the balance equation that governs the diffusive crack topology. In particular, it allows for the construction of an extremely robust operator split technique. In a subsequent step, the proposed model is extended to three dimensional problems. Using the nano-moiré method, we measure the near tip nanoscopic deformation on the [111] plane of single crystal silicon with a loaded quasi-cleavage crack running in the [110] direction. The measured strain distribution ahead of the crack tip agrees with the linear elastic fracture mechanics prediction up to 10 nm from the crack tip. Dislocations of Peierls type are detected and they extend from the crack tip over a length of hundreds of Burgers vectors.  相似文献

导出了点群6-维六方准晶反平面弹性问题的控制方程.利用复变方法,给出了点群6-维六方准晶在周期平面内的反平面弹性问题的应力分量以及边界条件的复变表示,通过引入适当的保角变换,研究了点群6-维六方准晶中带有椭圆孔口与半无限裂纹的反平面弹性问题,得到了椭圆孔口问题应力场的解析解,给出了半无限裂纹问题在裂纹尖端处的应力强度因子的解析解.在极限情形下,椭圆孔口转化为Griffith裂纹,并得到该裂纹在裂尖处的应力强度因子的解析解.当点群6-维六方准晶体的对称性增加时,其椭圆孔口与半无限裂纹的反平面弹性问题的解退化为点群6mm-维六方准晶带有椭圆孔口与半无限裂纹的反平面弹性问题的解。  相似文献
