In this study, nonlinear vibrations of an axially moving multi-supported string have been investigated. The main difference of this study from the others is in that there are non-ideal supports allowing minimal deflections between ideal supports at both ends of the string. Nonlinear equations of the motion and boundary conditions have been obtained using Hamilton’s Principle. Dependence of the equations of motion and boundary conditions on geometry and material of the string have been eliminated by non-dimensionalizing. Method of multiple scales, a perturbation technique, has been employed for solving the equations of motion. Axial velocity has been assumed a harmonically varying function about a constant value. Axially moving string has been investigated in three regions. Vibrations have been examined for three different cases of the velocity variation frequency. Stability has been analyzed and stability boundaries have been established for the principal parametric resonance case. Effects of the non-ideal support conditions on stability boundaries and vibration amplitudes have been investigated.

Based on the Kelvin viscoelastic differential constitutive law and the motion equation of the axially moving belt, the nonlinear dynamic model of the viscoelastic axial moving belt was established. And then it was reduced to be a linear differential system which the analytical solutions with a constant transport velocity and with a harmonically varying transport velocity were obtained by applying Lie group transformations. According to the nonlinear dynamic model, the effects of material parameters and the steady-state velocity and the perturbed axial velocity of the belt on the dynamic responses of the belts were investigated by the research of digital simulation . The result shows:1) The nonlinear vibration frequency of the belt will become small when the relocity of the belt increases . 2) Increasing the value of viscosity or decreasing the value of elasticity leads to a deceasing in vibration frequencies. 3) The most effects of the transverse amplitudes come from the frequency of the perturbed veloc  相似文献

In this study, stability and dynamic behaviour of axially moving viscoelastic panels are investigated with the help of the classical modal analysis. We use the flat panel theory combined with the Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic constitutive model, and we include the material derivative in the viscoelastic relations. Complex eigenvalues for the moving viscoelastic panel are studied with respect to the panel velocity, and the corresponding eigenfunctions are found using central finite differences. The governing equation for the transverse displacement of the panel is of fifth order in space, and thus five boundary conditions are set for the problem. The fifth condition is derived and set at the in-flow end for clamped–clamped and clamped-simply supported panels. The numerical results suggest that the moving viscoelastic panel undergoes divergence instability for low values of viscosity. They also show that the critical panel velocity increases when viscosity is increased and that the viscoelastic panel does not experience instability with a sufficiently high viscosity coefficient. For the cases with low viscosity, the modes and velocities corresponding to divergence instability are found numerically. We also report that the value of bending rigidity (bending stiffness) affects the distance between the divergence velocity and the flutter velocity: the higher the bending rigidity, the larger the distance.  相似文献

In this paper, bifurcation and chaos of an axially moving viscoelastic string are investigated. The 1-term and the 2-term Galerkin truncations are respectively employed to simplify the partial-differential equation that governs the transverse motions of the string into a set of ordinary differential equations. The bifurcation diagrams are presented in the case that the transport speed, the amplitude of the periodic perturbation, or the dynamic viscosity is respectively varied while other parameters are fixed. The dynamical behaviors are numerically identified based on the Poincare maps. Numerical simulations indicate that periodic, quasi-periodic and chaotic motions occur in the transverse vibrations of the axially moving viscoelastic string.  相似文献

In this paper, transverse vibration of an axially moving beam supported by a viscoelastic foundation is analyzed by a complex modal analysis method. The equation of motion is developed based on the generalized Hamilton's principle. Eigenvalues and eigenfunctions are semi-analytically obtained. The governing equation is represented in a canonical state space form, which is defined by two matrix differential operators. The orthogonality of the eigenfunctions and the adjoint eigenfunctions is used to decouple the system in the state space. The responses of the system to arbitrary external excitation and initial conditions are expressed in the modal expansion. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the proposed approach. The effects of the foundation parameters on free and forced vibration are examined.  相似文献

The nonlinear global forced dynamics of an axially moving viscoelastic beam, while both longitudinal and transverse displacements are taken into account, is examined employing a numerical technique. The equations of motion are derived using Newton′s second law of motion, resulting in two partial differential equations for the longitudinal and transverse motions. A two-parameter rheological Kelvin–Voigt energy dissipation mechanism is employed for the viscoelastic structural model, in which the material, not partial, time derivative is used in the viscoelastic constitutive relations; this gives additional terms due to the simultaneous presence of the material damping and the axial speed. The equations of motion for both longitudinal and transverse motions are then discretized via Galerkin’s method, in which the eigenfunctions for the transverse motion of a hinged-hinged linear stationary beam are chosen as the basis functions. The subsequent set of nonlinear ordinary equations is solved numerically by means of the direct time integration via modified Rosenbrock method, resulting in the bifurcation diagrams of Poincaré maps. The results are also presented in the form of time histories, phase-plane portraits, and fast Fourier transform (FFTs) for specific sets of parameters.  相似文献

In this paper, the viscoelastic theory is applied to the axially moving Levy-type plate with two simply supported and two free edges. On the basis of the elastic – viscoelastic equivalence, a linear mathematical model in the form of the equilibrium state equation of the moving plate is derived in the complex frequency domain. Numerical calculations of dynamic stability were conducted for a steel plate. The effects of transport speed and relaxation times modeled with two-parameter Kelvin–Voigt and three-parameter Zener rheological models on the dynamic behavior of the axially moving viscoelastic plate are analyzed.  相似文献

To model the axially moving viscoelastic web material a two-dimensional rheological element is used in this paper. This model is formed by elastic region and viscoelastic region. Using two-dimensional rheological model and the plate theory the differential equation of motion in the form of the eighth-order linear partial differential equation that governs the transverse vibrations of the system is derived. The Galerkin method is applied to simplify the governing equation into two-order truncated system defined by the set of ordinary differential equations. Numerical investigations of dynamic stability of the paper web were carried out. The effects of the transport speed and the internal damping on the dynamic behaviour of the axially moving web are presented in this paper.  相似文献

Principal parametric resonance in transverse vibration is investigated for viscoelastic beams moving with axial pulsating speed. A nonlinear partial-differential equation governing the transverse vibration is derived from the dynamical, constitutive, and geometrical relations. Under certain assumption, the partial-differential reduces to an integro-partial-differential equation for transverse vibration of axially accelerating viscoelastic nonlinear beams. The method of multiple scales is applied to two equations to calculate the steady-state response. Closed form solutions for the amplitude of the vibration are derived from the solvability condition of eliminating secular terms. The stability of straight equilibrium and nontrivial steady-state response are analyzed by use of the Lyapunov linearized stability theory. Numerical examples are presented to highlight the effects of speed pulsation, viscoelascity, and nonlinearity and to compare results obtained from two equations.  相似文献

A convenient and universal residue calculus method is proposed to study the stochastic response behaviors of an axially moving viscoelastic beam with random noise excitations and fractional order constitutive relationship, where the random excitation can be decomposed as a nonstationary stochastic process, Mittag-Leffler internal noise, and external stationary noise excitation. Then, based on the Laplace transform approach, we derived the mean value function, variance function and covariance function through the Green's function technique and the residue calculus method, and obtained theoretical results. In some special case of fractional order derivative α , the Monte Carlo approach and error function results were applied to check the effectiveness of the analytical results, and good agreement was found. Finally in a general-purpose case, we also confirmed the analytical conclusion via the direct Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

Approximate solutions of axially moving viscoelastic beams subject to multi-frequency excitations are presented. A non-linear partial-differential equation governing the transverse vibration of the beams is derived from Newton's second law, the Kelvin constitutive relationship, and the Lagrangian strain. Based on 1-term Galerkin's truncation, the governing equation is reduced to an ordinary differential equation. Three cases, including superharmonic resonance case, subharmonic resonance, and combination resonance are studied. The approximate solutions of the transverse vibration of the beams are obtained. Numerical results show that the approximate solutions are in good agreement with numerical results.  相似文献

Vibration and stability are investigated for an axially moving beam constrained by simple supports with torsion springs. A scheme is proposed to derive natural frequencies and modal functions from given boundary conditions of an elastic beam moving at a constant speed. For a beam constituted by the Kelvin model, effects of viscoelasticity on the free vibration are analyzed via the method of multiple scales and demonstrated via numerical simulations. When the axial speed is characterized as a simple harmonic variation about the constant mean speed, the instability conditions are presented for axially accelerating viscoelastic beams in parametric resonance. Numerical examples show the effects of the constraint stiffness, the mean axial speed, and the viscoelasticity.  相似文献

The multi-pulse homoclinic orbits and chaotic dynamics for an axially moving viscoelastic beam are investigated in the case of 1:2 internal resonance. On the basis of the modulation equations derived by the method of multiple scales, the theory of normal form is utilized to find the explicit formulas of normal form associated with a double zero and a pair of pure imaginary eigenvalues. The energy-phase method is employed to analyze the global bifurcations for the axially moving viscoelastic beam. The results obtained here indicate that there exist the Silnikov-type multi-pulse orbits homoclinic to certain invariant sets for the resonant case, leading to chaos in the system. Homoclinic trees which describe the repeated bifurcations of multi-pulse solutions are found. To illustrate the theoretical predictions, we present visualizations of these complicated structures.  相似文献

Dynamic response of multispan viscoelastic thin beams subjected to a moving mass is studied by an efficient numerical method in some detail. To this end, the unknown parameters of the problem are discretized in spatial domain using generalized moving least square method (GMLSM) and then, discrete equations of motion based on Lagrange's equation are obtained. Maximum deflection and bending moments are considered as the important design parameters. The design parameter spectra in terms of mass weight and velocity of the moving mass are presented for multispan viscoelastic beams as well as various values of relaxation rate and beam span number. A reasonable good agreement is achieved between the results of the proposed solution and those obtained by other researchers. The results indicate that, although the load inertia effects in beams with higher span number would be intensified for higher levels of moving mass velocity, the maximum values of design parameters would increase either. Moreover, the possibility of mass separation is shown to be more critical as the span number of the beam increases. This fact also violates the linear relation between the mass weight of the moving load and the associated design parameters, especially for high moving mass velocities. However, as the relaxation rate of the beam material increases, the load inertia effects as well as the possibility of moving mass separation reduces.  相似文献

Steady-state periodical response is investigated for an axially moving viscoelastic beam with hybrid supports via approximate analysis with numerical confirmation. It is assumed that the excitation is spatially uniform and temporally harmonic. The transverse motion of axially moving beams is governed by a nonlinear partial-differential equation and a nonlinear integro-partial-differential equation. The material time derivative is used in the viscoelastic constitutive relation. The method of multiple scales is applied to the governing equations to investigate primary resonances under general boundary conditions. It is demonstrated that the mode uninvolved in the resonance has no effect on the steady-state response. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effects of the boundary constraint stiffness on the amplitude and the stability of the steady-state response. The results derived for two governing equations are qualitatively the same, but quantitatively different. The differential quadrature schemes are developed to verify those results via the method of multiple scales.  相似文献
