In this paper, we study adaptive tests for the one-sample problem. The limit of the normalized difference between the power of a given adaptive test and that of the most powerful test is found. This limit directly yields the Hodges-Lehmann asymptotic deficiency of corresponding adaptive tests. Here adaptation means that the efficient score function of the test is estimated from the sample. A new adaptive scaled Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno (BFGS) method for unconstrained optimization is presented. The third term in the standard BFGS update formula is scaled in order to reduce the large eigenvalues of the approximation to the Hessian of the minimizing function. Under the inexact Wolfe line search conditions, the global convergence of the adaptive scaled BFGS method is proved in very general conditions without assuming the convexity of the minimizing function. Using 80 unconstrained optimization test functions with a medium number of variables, the preliminary numerical experiments show that this variant of the scaled BFGS method is more efficient than the standard BFGS update or than some other scaled BFGS methods.  相似文献

It is shown that the weighted residual-based estimator of Schick, Zhu, and Du (2017) is efficient in some special cases and can be made to be efficient by adding a stochastic correction term. The efficiency is shown by deriving the efficient influence function and establishing a uniform stochastic expansion with this influence function. The correction term relies on estimators of the score function for the errors and other characteristics of the model.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm for a Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman equation governing a class of optimal feedback control and stochastic control problems. This algorithm is based on a non-overlapping domain decomposition method and an adaptive least-squares collocation radial basis function discretization with a novel matrix inversion technique. To demonstrate the efficiency of this method, numerical experiments on test problems with up to three states and two control variables have been performed. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithm is highly parallelizable and its computational cost decreases exponentially as the number of sub-domains increases.  相似文献

A class of affine-invariant test statistics, including a sign test and a related family of signed-rank tests, is proposed for randomized complete block designs with one observation per treatment. This class is obtained by using the transformation-retransformation approach of Chakraborty, Chaudhuri and Oja along with a directional transformation due to Tyler. Under the minimal assumption of directional symmetry of the underlying distribution, the null asymptotic distribution of the sign test statistic is shown to be chi-square with p-1 degrees of freedom. The same null distribution is also proved for the family of signed-rank statistics under the assumption of symmetry of the underlying distribution. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiencies of the tests, relative to Hotelling-Hsu's T2 are established. Several score functions are discussed including a simple linear score function and the optimal normal score function. The test based on the linear score function is compared to the other members of this family and other statistics in the literature through efficiency calculations and Monte Carlo simulations. This statistic has an excellent performance over a wide range of distributions and for small as well as large dimensions.  相似文献

Asymptotically efficient tests satisfying a minimax type criterion are derived for testing composite hypotheses involving several parameters in nonergodic type stochastic processes. It is shown, in particular, that the analogue of the usual Neyman's C (α) type test (i.e., the score test) is not efficient for the nonergodic case. Moreover, the likelihood-ratio statistic is not fully efficient for the model discussed in the paper. The efficient statistic derived here is a modified version of the score-statistic discussed previously by Basawa and Koul (1979).  相似文献

Consider a stationary first-order autoregressive process, with i.i.d. residuals following an unknown mean zero distribution. The customary estimator for the expectation of a bounded function under the residual distribution is the empirical estimator based on the estimated residuals. We show that this estimator is not efficient, and construct a simple efficient estimator. It is adaptive with respect to the autoregression parameter.  相似文献

Summary We give several conditions on the estimator of efficient score function for estimating the parametric component of semiparametric models. A semiparametric version of the one-step MLE using an estimator of efficient score function which fulfills the conditions is shown to converge to the normal distribution with minimum variance locally uniformly over a fairly large neighborhood around the assumed semiparametric model. Consequently, it is shown to be asymptotically minimax with bounded subconvex loss functions. A few examples are also considered.  相似文献

A computationally efficient computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based optimization method with the capability of finding optimal engine operating conditions with respect to emissions and fuel consumption has been developed. The approach taken uses a steepest descent method for an adaptive cost function, where the line search is performed with a backtracking algorithm. The backtracking algorithm utilizes quadratic and cubic polynomials to accelerate the convergence, and the initial backtracking step employs an adaptive step size mechanism which depends on the steepness of the search direction. The adaptive cost function is based on the penalty method such that the penalty term is stiffened after every line search. The engine simulations are performed with a KIVA-3-based CFD code which is equipped with well-established spray, combustion and emission models. The application of this optimization tool is demonstrated for a non-road, medium-speed DI diesel engine which, for these simulations, utilizes a multi-orifice, asynchronous injection system. It has been demonstrated that this new injection method has a large potential for reducing emissions while maintaining a low fuel consumption. In addition, this optimization approach is computationally very efficient when good enough initial values are available.  相似文献

The sparsity function is important in nonparametric inference based on order statistics. In this paper, we consider kernel estimation of the sparsity function. It is well known that trust region methods are very effective for optimization problems. In this article, a new adaptive trust region method is presented for solving unconstrained optimization problems. The proposed method combines a modified secant equation with the BFGS updated formula and an adaptive trust region radius, where the new trust region radius makes use of not only the function information but also the gradient information. Under suitable conditions, global convergence is proved, and we demonstrate the local superlinear convergence of the proposed method. The numerical results indicate that the proposed method is very efficient.  相似文献

We are interested in testing whether two independent samples of n independent random variables are based on the same mixing-components or not. We provide a test procedure to detect if at least two mixing-components are distinct when their difference is a smooth function. Our test procedure is proved to be optimal according to the minimax adaptive setting that differs from the minimax setting by the fact that the smoothness is not known. Moreover, we show that the adaptive minimax rate suffers from a loss of order ( $ (\sqrt {\log (\log (n))} )^{ - 1} $ compared to the minimax rate.  相似文献

本文基于修正的Cholesky分解提出新的方法估计纵向秩回归的组内协方差矩阵,进而提出新的无偏估计函数改善不平衡纵向数据的估计效率.在一些正则条件下,建立了所提估计的渐近正态性.进一步,提出稳健的秩得分检验统计量对回归系数做假设检验.模拟研究和实证分析表明所提方法能够获得高度有效的估计以及所提检验方法比存在的方法更好.  相似文献

We propose a score statistic to test the null hypothesis that the two-component density functions are equal under a semiparametric finite mixture model. The proposed score test is based on a partial empirical likelihood function under an I-sample semiparametric model. The proposed score statistic has an asymptotic chi-squared distribution under the null hypothesis and an asymptotic noncentral chi-squared distribution under local alternatives to the null hypothesis. Moreover, we show that the proposed score test is asymptotically equivalent to a partial empirical likelihood ratio test and a Wald test. We present some results on a simulation study.  相似文献

Summary. We present a new ``second generation" reconstruction algorithm for irregular sampling, i\@.e\@. for the problem of recovering a band-limited function from its non-uniformly sampled values. The efficient new method is a combination of the adaptive weights method which was developed by the two first named authors and the method of conjugate gradients for the solution of positive definite linear systems. The choice of "adaptive weights" can be seen as a simple but very efficient method of preconditioning. Further substantial acceleration is achieved by utilizing the Toeplitz-type structure of the system matrix. This new algorithm can handle problems of much larger dimension and condition number than have been accessible so far. Furthermore, if some gaps between samples are large, then the algorithm can still be used as a very efficient extrapolation method across the gaps. Received December 22, 1993  相似文献

The symmetric coupling of mixed finite element and boundaryelement methods is analysed for a model interface problem withthe Laplacian. The coupling involves a further continuous ansatzfunction on the interface to link the discontinuous displacementfield to the necessarily continuous boundary ansatz function.Quasi-optimal a priori error estimates and sharp a posteriorierror estimates are established which justify adaptive mesh-refiningalgorithms. This paper presents a new online identification algorithm to drive an adaptive affine dynamic model for nonlinear and time-varying processes. The new algorithm is devised on the basis of an adaptive neuro-fuzzy modeling approach. Two adaptive neuro-fuzzy models are sequentially identified on the basis of the most recent input-output process data to realize an online affine-type model. A series of simulation test studies has been conducted to demonstrate the efficient capabilities of the proposed algorithm to automatically identify an online affine-type model for two highly nonlinear and time-varying continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) benchmark problems having inherent non-affine dynamic model representations. Adequacy assessments of the identified models have been explored using different evaluation measures, including comparison with an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) as the pioneering and the most popular adaptive neuro-fuzzy system with powerful modeling features.  相似文献
