The electromagnetic quasinormal modes of Ho?ava-Lifshitz black hole is investigated by means of six-order WKB approach. We in this paper compare the quasinormal modes of this black hole with the charged black hole’s cases (we here take a regular charged black hole and Reissner-Nordström black hole for example). The numerical results of Ho?ava-Lifshitz’s quasinormal modes frequency show that the absolute value of imaginary part decrease as the parameter α increase. The fact means that charge in this spacetime make the quasinormal modes damp at a slower rate.  相似文献

For a two-dimensional black hole we determine the quasinormal frequencies of the Klein–Gordon and Dirac fields. In contrast to the well known examples whose spectrum of quasinormal frequencies is discrete, for this black hole we find a continuous spectrum of quasinormal frequencies, but there are unstable quasinormal modes. In the framework of the Hod and Maggiore proposals we also discuss the consequences of these results on the form of the entropy spectrum for the two-dimensional black hole.  相似文献

To obtain fermionic quasinormal modes, the Dirac equation for two types of black holes is investigated. It is shown that two different geometries lead to distinctive types of quasinormal modes, while the boundary conditions imposed on the solutions in both cases are identical. For the first type of black hole, the quasinormal modes have continuous spectrum with negative imaginary part that provides the stability of perturbations. For the second type of the black hole, the quasinormal modes have a discrete spectrum and are completely imaginary.  相似文献

The massless scalar quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a stationary axisymmetric Einstein--Maxwell dilaton--axion (EMDA) black hole are calculated numerically using the continued fraction method first proposed by Leaver. The fundamental quasinormal frequencies (slowly damped QNMs) are obtained and the peculiar behaviours of them are studied. It is shown that these frequencies depend on the dilaton parameter $D$, the rotational parameter $a$, the multiple moment $l$ and the azimuthal number $m$, and have the same values with other authors at the Schwarzschild and Kerr limit.  相似文献

We research gravitational perturbation of Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger dilaton black hole and its quasinormal modes by using WKB approach proposed by Schutz, Will, Iyer and Konoplya. The quasinormal frequency with different angular momentum l is calculated in this paper. Our results show that, as the charge parameter b increase, both the real part and the absolute value of imaginary part of quasinormal frequency also increase, which means that the effect of charge in Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger dilaton background spacetime lead to higher frequency gravitational wave and the quasinormal modes damp at a rapider rate.  相似文献

We perturb the non-rotating BTZ black hole with a non-minimally coupled massless scalar field, and we compute the quasinormal spectrum exactly. We solve the radial equation in terms of hypergeometric functions, and we obtain an analytical expression for the quasinormal frequencies. In addition, we compare our analytical results with the 6th order semi-analytical WKB method, and we find an excellent agreement. The impact of the nonminimal coupling as well as of the cosmological constant on the quasinormal spectrum is briefly discussed.  相似文献

Modifying a method by Horowitz and Hubeny for asymptotically anti-de Sitter black holes, we establish the classical stability of the quasinormal modes of the de Sitter spacetime. Furthermore using a straightforward method we calculate the de Sitter quasinormal frequencies of the gravitational perturbations and discuss some properties of the radial functions of these quasinormal modes.  相似文献

The membrane paradigm approach to black hole physics introduces the notion of a stretched horizon as a fictitious time-like surface endowed with physical characteristics such as entropy, viscosity and electrical conductivity. We show that certain properties of the stretched horizons are encoded in the quasinormal spectrum of black holes. We compute analytically the lowest quasinormal frequency of a vector-type perturbation for a generic black hole with a translationally invariant horizon (black brane) in terms of the background metric components. The resulting dispersion relation is identical to the one obtained in the membrane paradigm treatment of the diffusion on stretched horizons. Combined with the Buchel–Liu universality theorem for the membrane's diffusion coefficient, our result means that in the long wavelength limit the black brane spectrum of gravitational perturbations exhibits a universal, purely imaginary quasinormal frequency. In the context of gauge–gravity duality, this provides yet another (third) proof of the universality of shear viscosity to entropy density ratio in theories with gravity duals.  相似文献

We clarify the purely imaginary quasinormal frequencies of a massless scalar perturbation on 3D charged-dilaton black holes. This case is quite interesting, because the step of the potential appears outside the event horizon, similar to the case of the electromagnetic perturbations on large Schwarzschild–anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes. It turns out that the potential-step type with a massless scalar perturbation provides purely imaginary quasinormal frequencies.  相似文献

We investigate the evolution of an electromagnetic field in the spacetime of a stringy black hole. The object picture of the quasinormal ringing has been obtained by the finite difference method. Compared with a Schwarzschild black hole, the results show that the electromagnetic field damps more slowly for a stringy black hole.  相似文献

We study quasinormal modes of scalar field perturbation and electromagnetic field perturbation in a black hole space-time with dark matter by using WKB approximation method. The result shows clearly that the real part of black hole quasinormal modes is mainly determined by angular quantum number while its imaginary part mainly determined by model number. We also found out that the dark matter will restrain the perturbation frequency and slow down the speed of damping in spacetime. In addition; dark matter has a greater influence upon quasinormal modes in the electromagnetic field than that in the scalar field.  相似文献

We calculate the exact values of the quasinormal frequencies for an electromagnetic field and a gravitational perturbation moving in D-dimensional de Sitter spacetime (D ≥ 4). We also study the quasinormal modes of a real massive scalar field and compare our results with those of other references.  相似文献

In this paper, the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of electromagnetic field perturbation to asymptotic safe (AS) black hole are discussed. Through six-order WKB approach we investigate the effects of quantum correction to the quasinormal modes (QNMs) numerically. Meanwhile by means of finite difference method, the evolutions of such perturbation to the safe black hole are figured out with corresponding parameters. It is found that the stability of black hole remains although the decay frequency and damping speed of oscillations are respectively increased and lowered by the quantum correction to classic Schwarzschild black hole.  相似文献

We analytically study the superradiant instability of charged massless scalar field in the background of D-dimensional Reissner–Nordstr¨om(RN) black hole caused by mirror-like boundary condition. By using the asymptotic matching method to solve the Klein–Gordon equation that governs the dynamics of scalar field, we have derived the expressions of complex parts of boxed quasinormal frequencies, and shown they are positive in the regime of superradiance. This indicates the charged scalar field is unstable in D-dimensional Reissner–Nordstr¨om(RN) black hole surrounded by mirror. However, the numerical work to calculate the boxed quasinormal frequencies in this system is still required in the future.  相似文献

We have studied quasinormal modes of scalar perturbations of a black hole in massive gravity. The parameters of the theory, such as the mass of the black hole, the scalar charge of the black hole and the spherical harmonic index is varied to see how the corresponding quasinormal frequencies change. We have also studied the massive scalar field perturbations. Most of the work is done using WKB approach while sections are devoted to compute quasinormal modes via the unstable null geodesics approach and the Pöschl–Teller approximation. Comparisons are done with the Schwarzschild black hole.  相似文献

We discuss whether the minimally coupled massless Klein-Gordon and Dirac fields have well defined quasinormal modes in single horizon, asymptotically flat two-dimensional black holes. To get the result we solve the equations of motion in the massless limit and we also calculate the effective potentials of Schrödinger type equations. Furthermore we calculate exactly the quasinormal frequencies of the Dirac field propagating in the two-dimensional uncharged Witten black hole. We compare our results on its quasinormal frequencies with other already published.  相似文献

The prospect of using gravitational wave detections via the quasinormal modes (QNMs) to test modified gravity theories is exciting area of current research. Gravitational waves (GWs) emitted by a perturbed black hole (BH) will decay as a superposition of their QNMs of oscillations at the ringdown phase. In this work, we investigate the QNMs of the Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg (EEH) BH for both axial and polar gravitational perturbations. We obtain master equations with the tetrad formalism, and the quasinormal frequencies of the EEH BH are calculated in the 6th order Wentzel-Kramers-Brill?uin approximation. It is interesting to note that the QNMs of the EEH BH would differ from those of the Reissner-Nordstr?m BH under the EH parameter, which indicates the EH parameter would affect the gravitational perturbations for the EEH BH.

We study the quasinormal modes of scalar field perturbations in the background of non-Abelian hyperscaling violating Lifshitz black holes. We find that the quasinormal frequencies have no real part so there is no oscillatory behavior in the perturbations, only exponential decay, that is, the system is always overdamped, which guarantees the mode stability of non-Abelian hyperscaling violating Lifshitz black holes. We determine analytically the quasinormal modes for massless scalar fields for a dynamical exponent \(z=2\) and hyperscaling violating exponent \(\tilde{\theta }>-2\). Also, we obtain numerically the quasinormal frequencies for different values of the dynamical exponent and the hyperscaling violating exponent by using the improved asymptotic iteration method.  相似文献

In this work, we study the scalar quasinormal modes of a planar black hole metric in asymptotic anti-de Sitter spacetime derived from a particular Lovelock theory. The quasinormal frequencies are evaluated by adopting the Horowitz-Hubeny method as well as a matrix formalism. Also, the temporal evolution of small perturbations is studied by using finite difference method. The roles of the dimension of the spacetime, the parameter of the metric k, as well as the temperature of the background black hole, are discussed. It is observed that the particular form of the metric leads to quasinormal frequencies whose real parts are numerically insignificant. The black hole metric is found to be stable against small scalar perturbations.  相似文献
