It is shown that the low-temperature anomaly of the I-V characteristics of homogeneous metal–semiconductor Schottky-barrier contacts (an increase in the ideality factor n and a decrease in the barrier height bm, measured using the saturation current, with decreasing temperature, as well as the fact that their product bn nbm coincides very closely with the actual barrier height b(V)) is a consequence of two factors: (1) the nonlinear dependence of the actual barrier height on the bias, resulting in an increase in the ideality factor with increasing bias voltage (current) and (2) measurement of the parameters n and bm for the same current for all temperatures. A new expression for the flat-band barrier height bf is derived.  相似文献

Consider the system of particles on d where particles are of two types—A andB—and execute simple random walks in continuous time. Particles do not interact with their own type, but when anA-particle meets aB-particle, both disappear, i.e., are annihilated. This system serves as a model for the chemical reactionA+B inert. We analyze the limiting behavior of the densities A (t) and B (t) when the initial state is given by homogeneous Poisson random fields. We prove that for equal initial densities A (0)= B (0) there is a change in behavior fromd4, where A (t)= B (t)C/t d /4, tod4, where A (t)= B (t)C/tast. For unequal initial densities A (0)< B (0), A (t)e cl ind=1, A (t)e Ct/logt ind=2, and A (t)e Ct ind3. The termC depends on the initial densities and changes withd. Techniques are from interacting particle systems. The behavior for this two-particle annihilation process has similarities to those for coalescing random walks (A+AA) and annihilating random walks (A+Ainert). The analysis of the present process is made considerably more difficult by the lack of comparison with an attractive particle system.  相似文献

The mean square tilt angle of a nematic slab with finite anchoring energy and periodic boundary conditions has been theoretically investigated, as a function of the slab geometry and of the reduced extrapolation length. Successive band-splitting transitions occur in the one-dimensional map xi+1=g(xi),i=0, 1, 2,... withg(x)=x, (0 x 1/2) –x +, (1/2 <x 1) as the parameter is changed from 2 to 1. The transition point fromN (=2n) bands to 2Nbands is given by=(2)1/N (n=0, 1,2,...). The time-correlation function i=xix0/(x0)2,xi xi–xi is studied in terms of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Frobenius-Perron operator of the map. It is shown that, near the transition point=2, i–[(10–42)/17] i,0-[(102-8)/51]i,1 + [(7 + 42)/17](–1)ie–yi, where2(–2) is the damping constant and vanishes at=2, representing the critical slowing-down. This critical phenomenon is in strong contrast to the topologically invariant quantities, such as the Lyapunov exponent, which do not exhibit any anomaly at=2. The asymptotic expression for i has been obtained by deriving an analytic form of i for a sequence of which accumulates to 2 from the above. Near the transition point=(2)1/N, the damping constant of i fori N is given by N=2(N-2)/N. Numerical calculation is also carried out for arbitrary a and is shown to be consistent with the analytic results.  相似文献

The diluted-field Ising model, a random nonnegative field ferromagnetic model, is shown to have a unique Gibbs measure with probability I when the field mean is positive. Our methods involve comparisons with ordinary uniform field Ising models. They yield as a corollary a way of obtaining spontaneous magnetization through the application of a vanishing random magnetic field. The correlation lengths of this model defined as (lim n-(1/n) log 0; n)-1, wheren is the site on the first coordinate axis at distancen from the origin and 0; n is the origin ton two-point truncated correlation function, is non-random. We derive an upper bound for it in terms of the correlation length of an ordinary nonrandom model with uniform field related to the field distribution of the diluted model.  相似文献

A variety of rigorous inequalities for critical exponents is proved. Most notable is the low-temperature Josephson inequalitydv +2 2–. Others are 1 1 +v, 1 1 , 1,d 1 + 1/ (for d),dv, 3 + (for d), 4 , and 2m 2m+2 (form 2). The single valley model proposed byKöhler andLandwehr is used for the calculation of transport parameters corresponding to pure Bi2Se3 crystals. From the measurements of transmission, reflectivity and the Hall constant the effective masses are determined,m c =0·13m 0 andm c=0·56m 0; using a simplification described in the paper the Fermi level is calculated to lie 0·14 eV above the bottom of the conduction band. This result allows us to conclude that a mixed mechanism of free carrier scattering exists inn-Bi2Se3 crystals, viz., the scattering by acoustic phonons prevails contributing about 75% and the scattering on ionized impurities contributes the remaining 25%. This result applies to pure Bi2Se3 crystals with free electron concentration 2×1019cm–3.  相似文献

We investigate the influence of long range interactions on the relaxation behaviour of a lattice model with an on-site potential of 4-type and infinite range harmonic interactions. For finite number of particlesN, it is shown that the autocorrelation functions <E n(t)E n > of the fluctuations of the one-particle energiesE n(t) decays exponentially. The corresponding relaxation time is proportional toN and is given by (T, N) =N0(T). The temperature dependent time scale 0 can explicitly be related to the dynamics of a one-particle correlator of the noninteracting system. The results are derived using Mori-Zwanzig projection formalism. The corresponding memory kernel is calculated within a mode coupling approximation and by a perturbative approach. Both results agree in leading order in 1/N. It is speculated that any interaction of range generates a timescale .  相似文献

The criteria for the design of optical arrangements for laser anemometry are formulated for reference-beam, two-beam and single-beam modes of operation. The dependence of useful light intensity upon optical path-length difference and number of axial laser modes is calculated. Laser power requirements are evaluated and the dependence upon band-pass filtering is quantitatively assessed. The variation with energyE of the X-ray absorption coefficient (E) and that of the anomalous dispersion correctionf(E) at the Cu-K-edge have been measured under identical experimental conditions using the X-ray interferometer installed in the Hamburger Synchrotronstrahlungslabor (HASYLAB) at the storage ring DORIS of DESY. The energy resolution achieved is E2 eV atE=9 keV. As a result of the extreme energy resolution in the near edge region up to about 60 eV above the edge, very detailed fine structures are observed in both (E) andf(E) which are tentatively attributed to multiple scattering resonances occuring in the scattering of the low energy photoelectron by neighbour atoms.The simultaneous measurement of (E) andf(E) opens the possibility to cross-correlate the experimental results with the help of Kramers-Kronig relations.  相似文献

We investigate the Finkelstein-Misner geons for a non-simply-connected space-time manifold (M, g 0). We use relations between different Lorentzian structures unequivalent tog 0 and topological properties ofM given by the Morse theory. It implies that to some pieces of geons we have to associate Wheeler's worm-holes. Geons that correspond to time-orientable Lorentz structures are related tog 0 by Morse functions that describe the attaching of a handle of index one. In the case of geons associated to time-nonorientable Lorentzian structures, appropriate handles are related to loops along which the notion of time reverses. If we assume electromagnetic properties of geons, then only four species, v, e, p, m, of different geons can exist and geon m has to decay according to mv+p+e.  相似文献

The paper considers the wave equation, with constant or variable coefficients in n , with odd n3. We study the asymptotics of the distribution t of the random solution at time t as t . It is assumed that the initial measure 0 has zero mean, translation-invariant covariance matrices, and finite expected energy density. We also assume that 0 satisfies a Rosenblatt- or Ibragimov–Linnik-type space mixing condition. The main result is the convergence of t to a Gaussian measure as t , which gives a Central Limit Theorem (CLT) for the wave equation. The proof for the case of constant coefficients is based on an analysis of long-time asymptotics of the solution in the Fourier representation and Bernstein's room-corridor argument. The case of variable coefficients is treated by using a version of the scattering theory for infinite energy solutions, based on Vainberg's results on local energy decay.  相似文献

The magnetic moments of the proton drip-line nuclei13O(I = 3/2,T 1/2 = 8.6 ms) and 9C(I = 3/2,T 1/2 = 126 ms) have been determined for the first time through the combined techniques of polarized radioactive nuclear beams and-NMR detection. The observed magnetic moments are ¦(13O)¦ = 1.3891 ±0.0003 N and ¦(9C)¦ = 1.3914 ±0.0005 N. Spin expectation values are deduced to be 0.76 and 1.44 for13O and9C, respectively. While the of13O is consistent with the systematics from isospinT= 1/2 mirror pairs, the of9C is unusually large, even far larger than the single particle value, = 1.  相似文献

A cluster of two atoms described by thes-f model with Coulomb repulsion has been considered. The interaction between localized 4f electrons (S=1/2) is taken in the molecular field approximation. The thermodynamic quantities like magnetization, specific heat and correlation functions n , n , S z n , S z n , S z (n n ), n n and S + a + a as functions of temperature are presented for different band fillingN=0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2. The dependence of Curie temperature onN is calculated. The phase diagram forN=1 (T=0K) shows the possibility of existence of two phases: paramagnetic and ferromagnetic.The Curie temperature and the specific heat as functions ofN exhibit similar trends as found in experiments on doped magnetic semiconductors.  相似文献

The usual way of obtaining rate equations (RE) and a single equation for the field amplitude (EFA) from the semiclassical laser equations (Lorenz-Haken model) is reexamined by undertaking a systematic elimination procedure developed in synergetics. The RE and EFA are justified in the case 1 (, ) and case 2 (, ), respectively. We show that, because the eliminated variable happens to contain a considerable contribution from an unstable mode, the usual elimination technique in the case 3 (, ) leads to an inconsistency. As important by-products we obtain the RE and EFA for arbitrary cavity relaxation constant (). Some remarks are given on the direct elimination technique in the non-diagonal representation in the study of instabilities.  相似文献

For 2D percolation we slightly improve a result of Chayes and Chayes to the effect that the critical exponent for the percolation probability isstrictly less than 1.
