The paper addresses a stress–strain problem for an infinite soft ferromagnetic body with an elliptic inclusion. The body is in a homogeneous magnetic field B 01. The basic stress–strain characteristics and induced magnetic field in the body and inclusion are determined and their features in the neighborhood of the inclusion are studied. The magnetoelastic and Maxwell stresses are plotted against the ratio of ellipse axes and the latitude angle. Maximum stresses versus magnetic induction and mechanical and magnetic properties of the material are tabulated  相似文献

The stability of dynamic anti-plane sliding at an interface between an elastic layer and an elastic half-space with dissimilar elastic properties is studied. Friction at the interface is assumed to follow a rate- and state-dependent law, with a positive instantaneous dependence on slip velocity and a rate weakening behavior in the steady state. The perturbations at the interface are of the form exp(ikx 1+pt), where k is the wavenumber, x 1 is the coordinate along the interface, p is the time response to the perturbation and t is time. A key feature of the problem is that interfacial waves both in freely slipping contact as well as in bonded contact exist for the problem. Attention is focused on the role of the interfacial waves on slip stability. Instabilities are plotted in the $\operatorname{Re} (pL/V_{o})$ versus $\operatorname{Im} (p/|k|c_{s})$ plane, where L is a length scale in the friction law, V o is the unperturbed slip velocity and c s is the shear wave speed of the layer. Stability of both rapid and slow slip is studied. The results show one mechanism by which instabilities occur is the destabilization by friction of the interfacial waves in freely slipping contact/bonded contact. This occurs even in slow sliding, thus confirming that the quasi-static approximation is not valid for slow sliding. The effect of material properties and layer thickness on the stability results is studied.  相似文献

An asymptotic solution is obtained to the contact problem of a band-like punch acting upon an elastic half-space. The method of joined asymptotic expansions is used. The results of numerical calculations are presented. The efficiency of the approach is tested by comparing it with another method  相似文献

Standard measures of local deformation such as deformation gradient, strain, elastic deformation, and plastic deformation are dimensionless. However, many macroscopic and submacroscopic geometrical changes observed in continuous bodies result in the formation of zones across whose boundaries significant changes in geometry can occur. In order to predict the sizes of such zones and their influence on material response, theories of elasticity and plasticity have been employed in which second gradients of deformation, gradients of strain, as well as gradients of elastic or of plastic deformation are taken into account. The theory of structured deformations provides additive decompositions of first deformation gradient and of second deformation gradient, valid for large deformations of any material, in which each term has a multiscale geometrical interpretation corresponding to the presence or absence of submacroscopic disarrangements (non-smooth geometrical changes such as slips and void formation). This article provides a field theory that broadens the earlier field theory, elasticity with disarrangements, by including energetic contributions from submacroscopic “gradient-disarrangements” (limits of averages of jumps in gradients of approximating deformations) and by treating particular kinematical conditions as internal constraints. An explicit formula is obtained showing the manner in which submacroscopic gradient-disarrangements determine a defectiveness density analogous to the dislocation density in theories of plasticity. A version of the new field theory incorporates this defectiveness density to obtain a counterpart of strain-gradient plasticity, while another instance of elasticity with gradient-disarrangements recovers an instance of strain-gradient elasticity with symmetric Cauchy stress. All versions of the new theory included here are compatible with the Second Law of Thermodynamics.  相似文献

An applied model is developed for designing an inhomogeneous plate on an elastic half-space. The plate is discretized by the finite-element method and the half-space by the boundary-element method. The model allows us to evaluate the stress–strain state of the plate immediately under a die, whose dimensions are comparable with the plate's cross section. The plate may be inhomogeneous across the thickness and in plan. Separation of the plate from the elastic base is possible.  相似文献

A contact problem is solved for several rigid dies on an elastic half-space. Relationships between the generalized loads and generalized displacements of a large number of spaced dies are established. The interaction between flat-based dies is described in terms of their capacity characteristics. The general solution is constructed on the basis of Mossakovski's theorem. Explicit formulas are derived for a system of elliptic dies  相似文献

A stress–strain problem is solved for an infinite elastic magnetically soft medium with an ellipsoidal inclusion in an external magnetic field. The main characteristics of the stress–strain state and induced magnetic fields in the medium and the inclusion are determined and their distribution over the surface of the inclusion is analyzed  相似文献

The elastic displacement in an isotropic elastic half-space with free surface is calculated for a point tensor force which may arise from the seismic moment of seismic sources concentrated at an inner point of the half-space. The starting point of the calculation is the decomposition of the displacement by means of the Helmholtz potentials and a simplified version of the Grodskii-Neuber-Papkovitch procedure. The calculations are carried out by using generalized Poisson equations and in-plane Fourier transforms, which are convenient for treating boundary conditions. As a general result we compute the displacement in the isotropic elastic half-space with free surface caused by point forces with arbitrary structure and orientation, localized either beneath the surface (generalized Mindlin problem) or on the surface (generalized Boussinesq-Cerruti problems). The inverse Fourier transforms are carried out by means of Sommerfeld-type integrals. For forces buried in the half-space explicit results are given for the surface displacement, which may exhibit finite values at the origin, or at distances on the surface of the order of the depth of the source. The problem presented here may be viewed as an addition to the well-known static problems of elastic equilibrium of a half-space under the action of concentrated loads. The application of the method to similar problems and another approach to the starting point of the general solution are discussed.  相似文献

This paper studies surface instability of a coated semi-infinite linear elastic body interacting with another flat rigid body through surface van der Waals (vdW) forces under plane strain conditions. The emphasis is on the effect of the surface coating layer on the wavelength of surface wrinkling. It is shown that the surface of the coated elastic half-plane is always unstable even in the presence of a very stiff coating layer. However, the numerical results show that the stiff coating layer has a significant effect on the wavelength of the surface instability mode and can effectively prevent the surface from short-wavelength wrinkling. In particular, the surface tangential displacement associated with the surface instability vanishes when the elastic half-plane is incompressible. In this case, the in-plane rigidity of the coating layer has no effect on surface instability while the bending stiffness of the coating layer has an effect on the wave-length of the surface instability mode. Furthermore, the Poisson’s ratio of elastic half-plane has a significant role in the surface instability and the associated wave-length. C. Q. An approach is considered to how to allow for the interaction between an ellipsoidal heterogeneity (inclusion) and an elliptic crack in an elastic medium. Using the superposition of perturbed stress states, the boundary conditions are satisfied on the ellipsoidal surface by the method of equivalent inclusion and on the crack surface by the least-squares method. A numerical analysis is carried out. Typical mechanical effects are revealed. In the calculations, the stress state near the ellipsoidal heterogeneity is approximated by a polynomial of the second degree in Cartesian coordinates, whereas the load on the crack surface is simulated by a polynomial of the fourth degree in Cartesian coordinates. In particular cases, the results are in good agreement with the data obtained by other authors  相似文献

In this paper we consider the problem of adhesive frictionless contact of an elastic half-space by an axi-symmetric punch. We obtain integral equations that define the tractions and displacements normal to the surface of the half-space, as well as the size of the contact regions, for the cases of circular and annular contact regions. The novelty of our approach resides in the use of Betti’s reciprocity theorem to impose equilibrium, and of Abel transforms to either solve or substantially simplify the resulting integral equations. Additionally, the radii that define the annular or circular contact region are defined as local minimizers of the function obtained by evaluating the potential energy at the equilibrium solutions for each pair of radii. With this approach, we rather easily recover Sneddon’s formulas (Sneddon, Int. J. Eng. Sci., 3(1):47–57, 1965) for circular contact regions. For the annular contact region, we obtain a new integral equation that defines the inverse Abel transform of the surface normal displacement. We solve this equation numerically for two particular punches: a flat annular punch, and a concave punch.  相似文献

The paper addresses the three-dimensional problem on steady-state vibrations of an elastic body consisting of two perfectly joined dissimilar half-spaces with an elliptic mode I crack located in one of the half-spaces normally to the interface. The problem is reduced to a boundary integral equation for the crack opening function. The integration domain of the equation is bounded by the crack domain, and the interaction between the crack and the interface is described by a regular kernel. The equation is solved using the mapping method. Numerical results are obtained for the case where the surfaces of the elliptic crack are subjected to harmonic loading with constant amplitude. The dependences of the stress intensity factors on the wave number are presented for various relationships among the mechanical constants that ensure the absence of near-surface waves  相似文献

The paper is concerned with a contact problem about rigid rectangular punch forced into a half-space made of a linear elastic isotropic material with voids. We use a Cowin–Nunziato model for the half-space, and reduce the problem to a double Fredholm integral equation of the first kind. Then we apply two different approaches, to solve this equation. The first one is based on a direct collocation numerical technique. The second method is asymptotic, and we use a small parameter that is the relative width of the punch. Finally, compliance of the punch is determined, and results of the two different methods are compared with each other, as well as with a Sivashinsky–Panek–Kalker solution.
