In multiobjective optimization there is often the problem of the existence of a large number of objectives. For more than two objectives there is a difficulty with the representation and visualization of the solutions in the objective space. Therefore, it is not clear for the decision maker the trade-off between the different alternative solutions. Thus, this creates enormous difficulties when choosing a solution from the Pareto-optimal set and constitutes a central question in the process of decision making. Based on statistical methods as Principle Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis, the problem of reduction of the number of objectives is addressed. Several test examples with different number of objectives have been studied in order to evaluate the process of decision making through these methods. Preliminary results indicate that this statistical approach can be a valuable tool on decision making in multiobjective optimization. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In equitable multiobjective optimization all the objectives are uniformly optimized, but in some cases the decision maker believes that some of them should be uniformly optimized. To solve this problem in this paper, the original problem is decomposed into a collection of smaller subproblems, according to the decision maker, and then the subproblems are solved by the concept of equitable efficiency. Furthermore, by using the concept of PP-equitable efficiency two models are presented to coordinate equitably efficient solutions of subproblems.  相似文献

In many multiobjective optimization problems, the Pareto Fronts and Sets contain a large number of solutions and this makes it difficult for the decision maker to identify the preferred ones. Multiple objectives and dynamics characterize many sequential decision problems. In the paper we consider returns in partially ordered criteria space as a way of generalization of single criterion dynamic programming models to multiobjective case. In our problem evaluations of alternatives with respect to criteria are represented by distribution functions. Thus, the overall comparison of two alternatives is equivalent to the comparison of two vectors of probability distributions. We assume that the decision maker tries to find a solution preferred to all other solutions (the most preferred solution). In the paper a new interactive procedure for stochastic, dynamic multiple criteria decision making problem is proposed. The procedure consists of two steps. First, the Bellman principle is used to identify the set of efficient solutions. Next interactive approach is employed to find the most preferred solution. A numerical example and a real-world application are presented to illustrate the applicability of the proposed technique.  相似文献

When solving a multiobjective programming problem by the weighted sum approach, weights represent the relative importance associated to the objectives. As these values are usually imprecise, it is important to analyze the sensitivity of the solution under possible deviations on the estimated values. In this sense, the tolerance approach provides a direct measure of how weights may vary simultaneously and independently from their estimated values while still retaining the same efficient solution. This paper provides an explicit expression to the maximum tolerance on weights in a multiobjective linear fractional programming problem when all the denominators are equal. An application is also presented to illustrate how the results may help the decision maker to choose a most satisfactory solution in a production problem.  相似文献

A multiobjective binary integer programming model for R&D project portfolio selection with competing objectives is developed when problem coefficients in both objective functions and constraints are uncertain. Robust optimization is used in dealing with uncertainty while an interactive procedure is used in making tradeoffs among the multiple objectives. Robust nondominated solutions are generated by solving the linearized counterpart of the robust augmented weighted Tchebycheff programs. A decision maker’s most preferred solution is identified in the interactive robust weighted Tchebycheff procedure by progressively eliciting and incorporating the decision maker’s preference information into the solution process. An example is presented to illustrate the solution approach and performance. The developed approach can also be applied to general multiobjective mixed integer programming problems.  相似文献

We introduce a new approach in the methodology development for interactive multiobjective optimization. The presentation is given in the context of the interactive NIMBUS method, where the solution process is based on the classification of objective functions. The idea is to formulate several scalarizing functions, all using the same preference information of the decision maker. Thus, opposed to fixing one scalarizing function (as is done in most methods), we utilize several scalarizing functions in a synchronous way. This means that we as method developers do not make the choice between different scalarizing functions but calculate the results of different scalarizing functions and leave the final decision to the expert, the decision maker. Simultaneously, (s)he obtains a better view of the solutions corresponding to her/his preferences expressed once during each iteration.In this paper, we describe a synchronous variant of the NIMBUS method. In addition, we introduce a new version of its implementation WWW-NIMBUS operating on the Internet. WWW-NIMBUS is a software system capable of solving even computationally demanding nonlinear problems. The new version of WWW-NIMBUS can handle versatile types of multiobjective optimization problems and includes new desirable features increasing its user-friendliness.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new general formulation for multiobjective optimization that can accommodate several interactive methods of different types (regarding various types of preference information required from the decision maker). This formulation provides a comfortable implementation framework for a general interactive system and allows the decision maker to conveniently apply several interactive methods in one solution process. In other words, the decision maker can at each iteration of the solution process choose how to give preference information to direct the interactive solution process, and the formulation enables changing the type of preferences, that is, the method used, whenever desired. The first general formulation, GLIDE, included eight interactive methods utilizing four types of preferences. Here we present an improved version where we pay special attention to the computational efficiency (especially significant for large and complex problems), by eliminating some constraints and parameters of the original formulation. To be more specific, we propose two new formulations, depending on whether the multiobjective optimization problem to be considered is differentiable or not. Some computational tests are reported showing improvements in all cases. The generality of the new improved formulations is supported by the fact that they can accommodate six interactive methods more, that is, a total of fourteen interactive methods, just by adjusting parameter values.  相似文献

This paper presents a decentralized method for computing Pareto-optimal solutions in multiparty negotiations over continuous issues. The method is based on the well known weighting method which is decomposed by introducing an own decision variable for each decision maker and by applying the dual decomposition method to the resulting problem. The method offers a systematic way for generating some or all Pareto-optimal solutions so that decision makers do not have to know each others' value functions. Under the assumption of quasilinear value function the requirement that a decision maker knows the explicit form for his value function can be relaxed. In that case the decision maker is asked to solve a series of multiobjective programming problems where an additional artificial decision variable is introduced.  相似文献

Most real-life decision-making activities require more than one objective to be considered. Therefore, several studies have been presented in the literature that use multiple objectives in decision models. In a mathematical programming context, the majority of these studies deal with two objective functions known as bicriteria optimization, while few of them consider more than two objective functions. In this study, a new algorithm is proposed to generate all nondominated solutions for multiobjective discrete optimization problems with any number of objective functions. In this algorithm, the search is managed over (p − 1)-dimensional rectangles where p represents the number of objectives in the problem and for each rectangle two-stage optimization problems are solved. The algorithm is motivated by the well-known ε-constraint scalarization and its contribution lies in the way rectangles are defined and tracked. The algorithm is compared with former studies on multiobjective knapsack and multiobjective assignment problem instances. The method is highly competitive in terms of solution time and the number of optimization models solved.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a multiobjective two-level linear programming problem in which the decision maker at each level has multiple-objective functions conflicting with each other. The decision maker at the upper level must take account of multiple or infinite rational responses of the decision maker at the lower level in the problem. We examine three kinds of situations based on anticipation of the decision maker at the upper level: optimistic anticipation, pessimistic anticipation, and anticipation arising from the past behavior of the decision maker at the lower level. Mathematical programming problems for obtaining the Stackelberg solutions based on the three kinds of anticipation are formulated and algorithms for solving the problems are presented. Illustrative numerical examples are provided to understand the geometrical properties of the solutions and demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methods.  相似文献

The application of multiobjective solution techniques requires, at some point in the analysis, the specification of the preference structure of the decision maker over the set of objectives. In practice, this step must often take the form of determining a set of weights that attempts to quantify the relative importance of the various competing objectives. This paper looks at how some of the well known techniques make use of these weights in attempting to achieve the best compromise solution. The definition of the weights (i.e., what meaning they carry into the analysis) is also explored. It is found that one must be very careful about applying weights when using these techniques. A different set of weights for the same objectives may apply when implementing two different techniques. In addition, a related factor, the specification of scales or ranges over which the objectives are to be evaluated, is explored. Again, it is found that different techniques use these scales in ways that change the manner in which they should be defined. The techniques reviewed are compromise programming, multiattribute utility theory, ELECTRE and cooperative game theory. Concepts are illustrated through the use of a water resources example problem.  相似文献

One of the main tools for including decision maker (DM) preferences in the multiobjective optimization (MO) literature is the use of reference points and achievement scalarizing functions [A.P. Wierzbicki, The use of reference objectives in multiobjective optimization, in: G. Fandel, T. Gal (Eds.), Multiple-Criteria Decision Making Theory and Application, Springer-Verlag, New York, 1980, pp. 469–486.]. The core idea in these approaches is converting the original MO problem into a single-objective optimization problem through the use of a scalarizing function based on a reference point. As a result, a single efficient point adapted to the DM’s preferences is obtained. However, a single solution can be less interesting than an approximation of the efficient set around this area, as stated for example by Deb in [K. Deb, J. Sundar, N. Udaya Bhaskara Rao, S. Chaudhuri, Reference point based multiobjective optimization using evolutionary algorithms, International Journal of Computational Intelligence Research, 2(3) (2006) 273–286]. In this paper, we propose a variation of the concept of Pareto dominance, called g-dominance, which is based on the information included in a reference point and designed to be used with any MO evolutionary method or any MO metaheuristic. This concept will let us approximate the efficient set around the area of the most preferred point without using any scalarizing function. On the other hand, we will show how it can be easily used with any MO evolutionary method or any MO metaheuristic (just changing the dominance concept) and, to exemplify its use, we will show some results with some state-of-the-art-methods and some test problems.  相似文献

This paper is intended to design goal programming models for capturing the decision maker's (DM's) preference information and for supporting the search for the best compromise solutions in multiobjective optimization. At first, a linear goal programming model is built to estimate piecewise linear local utility functions based on pairwise comparisons of efficient solutions as well as objectives. The interactive step trade-off method (ISTM) is employed to generate a typical subset of efficient solutions of a multiobjective problem. Another general goal programming model is then constructed to embed the estimated utility functions in the original multiobjective problem for utility optimization using ordinary nonlinear programming algorithms. This technique, consisting of the ISTM method and the newly investigated search process, facilitates the identification and elimination of possible inconsistent information which may exist in the DM's preferences. It also provides various ways to carry out post-optimality analysis to test the robustness of the obtained best solutions. A modified nonlinear multiobjective management problem is taken as example to demonstrate the technique.  相似文献

Decision makers usually have to face a budget and other type of constraints when they have to decide which projects are going to be undertaken (to satisfy their requirements and guarantee profitable growth). Our purpose is to assist them in the task of selecting project portfolios. We have approached this problem by proposing a general nonlinear binary multi-objective mathematical model, which takes into account all the most important factors mentioned in the literature related with Project Portfolio Selection and Scheduling. Due to the existence of uncertainty in different aspects involved in the aforementioned decision task, we have also incorporated into the model some fuzzy parameters, which allow us to represent information not fully known by the decision maker/s. The resulting problem is both fuzzy and multiobjective. The results are complemented with graphical tools, which show the usefulness of the proposed model to assist the decision maker/s.  相似文献

In conventional multiobjective decision making problems, the estimation of the parameters of the model is often a problematic task. Normally they are either given by the decision maker (DM), who has imprecise information and/or expresses his considerations subjectively, or by statistical inference from past data and their stability is doubtful. Therefore, it is reasonable to construct a model reflecting imprecise data or ambiguity in terms of fuzzy sets for which a lot of fuzzy approaches to multiobjective programming have been developed. In this paper we propose a method to solve a multiobjective linear programming problem involving fuzzy parameters (FP-MOLP), whose possibility distributions are given by fuzzy numbers, estimated from the information provided by the DM. As the parameters, intervening in the model, are fuzzy the solutions will be also fuzzy. We propose a new Pareto Optimal Solution concept for fuzzy multiobjective programming problems. It is based on the extension principle and the joint possibility distribution of the fuzzy parameters of the problem. The method relies on α-cuts of the fuzzy solution to generate its possibility distributions. These ideas are illustrated with a numerical example.  相似文献

Real decision problems usually consider several objectives that have parameters which are often given by the decision maker in an imprecise way. It is possible to handle these kinds of problems through multiple criteria models in terms of possibility theory.Here we propose a method for solving these kinds of models through a fuzzy compromise programming approach.To formulate a fuzzy compromise programming problem from a possibilistic multiobjective linear programming problem the fuzzy ideal solution concept is introduced. This concept is based on soft preference and indifference relationships and on canonical representation of fuzzy numbers by means of their α-cuts. The accuracy between the ideal solution and the objective values is evaluated handling the fuzzy parameters through their expected intervals and a definition of discrepancy between intervals is introduced in our analysis.  相似文献

This paper modifies the affine-scaling primal algorithm to multiobjective linear programming (MOLP) problems. The modification is based on generating search directions in the form of projected gradients augmented by search directions pointing toward what we refer to as anchoring points. These anchoring points are located on the boundary of the feasible region and, together with the current, interior, iterate, define a cone in which we make the next step towards a solution of the MOLP problem. These anchoring points can be generated in more than one way. In this paper we present an approach that generates efficient anchoring points where the choice of termination solution available to the decision maker at each iteration consists of a set of efficient solutions. This set of efficient solutions is being updated during the iterative process so that only the most preferred solutions are retained for future considerations. Current MOLP algorithms are simplex-based and make their progress toward the optimal solution by following an exterior trajectory along the vertices of the constraints polytope. Since the proposed algorithm makes its progress through the interior of the constraints polytope, there is no need for vertex information and, therefore, the search for an acceptable solution may prove less sensitive to problem size. We refer to the resulting class of MOLP algorithms that are based on the affine-scaling primal algorithm as affine-scaling interior multiobjective linear programming (ASIMOLP) algorithms.  相似文献

A two level hierarchical balanced time minimizing transportation problem is considered in this paper. The whole set of source-destination links consists of two disjoint partitions namely Level-I links and Level-II links. Some quantity of a homogeneous product is first shipped from sources to destinations by Level-I decision maker using only Level-I links, and on its completion the Level-II decision maker transports the remaining quantity of the product in an optimal fashion using only Level-II links. Transportation is assumed to be done in parallel in both the levels. The aim is to find that feasible solution for Level-I decision maker corresponding to which the optimal feasible solution for Level-II decision maker is such that the sum of shipment times in Level-I and Level-II is the least. To obtain the global optimal feasible solution of this non-convex optimization problem, related balanced time minimizing transportation problems are defined. Based upon the optimal feasible solutions of these related problems, standard cost minimizing transportation problems are constructed whose optimal feasible solutions provide various pairs for shipment times for Level-I and Level-II decision makers. The best out of these pairs is finally selected. Being dependent upon solutions of a finite number of balanced time minimizing and cost minimizing transportation problems, the proposed algorithm is a polynomial bound algorithm. The developed algorithm has been implemented and tested on a variety of test problems and performance is found to be quite encouraging.  相似文献
