A new exact penalty function method, called the l1 exact exponential penalty function method, is introduced. In this approach, the so-called the exponential penalized optimization problem with the l1 exact exponential penalty function is associated with the original optimization problem with both inequality and equality constraints. The l1 exact exponential penalty function method is used to solve nonconvex mathematical programming problems with r-invex functions (with respect to the same function η). The equivalence between sets of optimal solutions of the original mathematical programming problem and of its associated exponential penalized optimization problem is established under suitable r-invexity assumption. Also lower bounds on the penalty parameter are given, for which above these values, this result is true. 相似文献

In this article, the vector exact l1 penalty function method used for solving nonconvex nondifferentiable multiobjective programming problems is analyzed. In this method, the vector penalized optimization problem with the vector exact l1 penalty function is defined. Conditions are given guaranteeing the equivalence of the sets of (weak) Pareto optimal solutions of the considered nondifferentiable multiobjective programming problem and of the associated vector penalized optimization problem with the vector exact l1 penalty function. This equivalence is established for nondifferentiable invex vector optimization problems. Some examples of vector optimization problems are presented to illustrate the results established in the article. 相似文献

In the paper, we consider the exact minimax penalty function method used for solving a general nondifferentiable extremum problem with both inequality and equality constraints. We analyze the relationship between an optimal solution in the given constrained extremum problem and a minimizer in its associated penalized optimization problem with the exact minimax penalty function under the assumption of convexity of the functions constituting the considered optimization problem (with the exception of those equality constraint functions for which the associated Lagrange multipliers are negative—these functions should be assumed to be concave). The lower bound of the penalty parameter is given such that, for every value of the penalty parameter above the threshold, the equivalence holds between the set of optimal solutions in the given extremum problem and the set of minimizers in its associated penalized optimization problem with the exact minimax penalty function. 相似文献

Deriving the Properties of Linear Bilevel Programming via a Penalty Function Approach 总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7

For the linear bilevel programming problem, we propose an assumption weaker than existing assumptions, while achieving similar results via a penalty function approach. The results include: equivalence between (i) existence of a solution to the problem, (ii) existence of an exact penalty function approach for solving the problem, and (iii) achievement of the optimal value of the equivalent form of the problem at some vertex of a certain polyhedral convex set. We prove that the assumption is both necessary and sufficient for the linear bilevel programming problem to admit an exact penalty function formulation, provided that the equivalent form of the problem has a feasible solution. A method is given for computing the minimal penalty function parameter value. This method can be executed by solving a set of linear programming problems. Lagrangian duality is also presented.

In the paper, the classical exact absolute value function method is used for solving a nondifferentiable constrained interval-valued optimization problem with both inequality and equality constraints. The property of exactness of the penalization for the exact absolute value penalty function method is analyzed under assumption that the functions constituting the considered nondifferentiable constrained optimization problem with the interval-valued objective function are convex. The conditions guaranteeing the equivalence of the sets of LU-optimal solutions for the original constrained interval-valued extremum problem and for its associated penalized optimization problem with the interval-valued exact absolute value penalty function are given. 相似文献

This article introduces a smoothing technique to the l1 exact penalty function. An application of the technique yields a twice continuously differentiable penalty function and a smoothed penalty problem. Under some mild conditions, the optimal solution to the smoothed penalty problem becomes an approximate optimal solution to the original constrained optimization problem. Based on the smoothed penalty problem, we propose an algorithm to solve the constrained optimization problem. Every limit point of the sequence generated by the algorithm is an optimal solution. Several numerical examples are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. 相似文献

A successive quadratic programming method for a class of constrained nonsmooth optimization problems
Masao Fukushima 《Mathematical Programming》1990,49(1-3):231-251
In this paper we present an algorithm for solving nonlinear programming problems where the objective function contains a possibly nonsmooth convex term. The algorithm successively solves direction finding subproblems which are quadratic programming problems constructed by exploiting the special feature of the objective function. An exact penalty function is used to determine a step-size, once a search direction thus obtained is judged to yield a sufficient reduction in the penalty function value. The penalty parameter is adjusted to a suitable value automatically. Under appropriate assumptions, the algorithm is shown to produce an approximate optimal solution to the problem with any desirable accuracy in a finite number of iterations. 相似文献

In this paper, the η-approximation method introduced by Antczak (Ref. 1) for solving a nonlinear constrained mathematical
programming problem involving invex functions with respect to the same function η is extended. In this method, a so-called
η-approximated optimization problem associated with the original mathematical programming problems is constructed; moreover,
an η-saddle point and an η-Lagrange function are defined. By the help of the constructed η-approximated optimization problem,
saddle-point criteria are obtained for the original mathematical programming problem. The equivalence between an η-saddle
point of the η-Lagrangian of the associated η-approximated optimization problem and an optimal solution in the original mathematical
programming problem is established. 相似文献

Augmented Lagrangian function is one of the most important tools used in solving some constrained optimization problems. In this article, we study an augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function and a modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function for inequality constrained optimization problems. First, we prove the dual properties of the augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function, which are at least as good as the traditional Lagrangian function's. Under some conditions, the saddle point of the augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function satisfies the first-order Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition. This is especially so when the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition holds for convex programming of its saddle point existence. Second, we prove the dual properties of the modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function. For a global optimal solution, when the exactness of the modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function holds, its saddle point exists. The sufficient and necessary stability conditions used to determine whether the modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function is exact for a global solution is proved. Based on the modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function, an algorithm is developed to find a global solution to an inequality constrained optimization problem, and its global convergence is also proved under some conditions. Furthermore, the sufficient and necessary calmness condition on the exactness of the modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function is proved for a local solution. An algorithm is presented in finding a local solution, with its convergence proved under some conditions. 相似文献

Many least-square problems involve affine equality and inequality constraints. Although there are a variety of methods for solving such problems, most statisticians find constrained estimation challenging. The current article proposes a new path-following algorithm for quadratic programming that replaces hard constraints by what are called exact penalties. Similar penalties arise in l 1 regularization in model selection. In the regularization setting, penalties encapsulate prior knowledge, and penalized parameter estimates represent a trade-off between the observed data and the prior knowledge. Classical penalty methods of optimization, such as the quadratic penalty method, solve a sequence of unconstrained problems that put greater and greater stress on meeting the constraints. In the limit as the penalty constant tends to ∞, one recovers the constrained solution. In the exact penalty method, squared penalties are replaced by absolute value penalties, and the solution is recovered for a finite value of the penalty constant. The exact path-following method starts at the unconstrained solution and follows the solution path as the penalty constant increases. In the process, the solution path hits, slides along, and exits from the various constraints. Path following in Lasso penalized regression, in contrast, starts with a large value of the penalty constant and works its way downward. In both settings, inspection of the entire solution path is revealing. Just as with the Lasso and generalized Lasso, it is possible to plot the effective degrees of freedom along the solution path. For a strictly convex quadratic program, the exact penalty algorithm can be framed entirely in terms of the sweep operator of regression analysis. A few well-chosen examples illustrate the mechanics and potential of path following. This article has supplementary materials available online. 相似文献

The penalty function method, presented many years ago, is an important numerical method for the mathematical programming problems. In this article, we propose a dual-relax penalty function approach, which is significantly different from penalty function approach existing for solving the bilevel programming, to solve the nonlinear bilevel programming with linear lower level problem. Our algorithm will redound to the error analysis for computing an approximate solution to the bilevel programming. The error estimate is obtained among the optimal objective function value of the dual-relax penalty problem and of the original bilevel programming problem. An example is illustrated to show the feasibility of the proposed approach. 相似文献
