Let \({\Omega}\) be a Lipschitz bounded domain of \({\mathbb{R}^N}\), \({N\geq2}\), and let \({u_p\in W_0^{1,p}(\Omega)}\) denote the p-torsion function of \({\Omega}\), p > 1. It is observed that the value 1 for the Cheeger constant \({h(\Omega)}\) is threshold with respect to the asymptotic behavior of up, as \({p\rightarrow 1^+}\), in the following sense: when \({h(\Omega) > 1}\), one has \({\lim_{p\rightarrow 1^+}\left\|u_{p}\right\| _{L^\infty(\Omega)}=0}\), and when \({h(\Omega) < 1}\), one has \({\lim_{p\rightarrow 1^+}\left\|u_p\right\| _{L^\infty(\Omega)}=\infty}\). In the case \({h(\Omega)=1}\), it is proved that \({\limsup_{p\rightarrow1^+}\left\|u_p\right\|_{L^\infty(\Omega)}<\infty}\). For a radial annulus \({\Omega_{a,b}}\), with inner radius a and outer radius b, it is proved that \({\lim_{p\rightarrow 1^+}\left\|u_p\right\| _{L^\infty(\Omega_{a,b})}=0}\) when \({h(\Omega_{a,b})=1}\).  相似文献

We introduce and study adhesive spaces. Using this concept we obtain a characterization of stable Baire maps \({f : X\to Y}\) of the class \({\alpha}\) for wide classes of topological spaces. In particular, we prove that for a topological space X and a contractible space Y a map \({f : X \to Y}\) belongs to the nth stable Baire class if and only if there exist a sequence \({(f_k)_{k=1}^\infty}\) of continuous maps \({f_k : {X \to Y}}\) and a sequence \({(F_k)_{k=1}^\infty}\) of functionally ambiguous sets of the nth class in X such that \({f|_{F_k}=f_k|_{F_k}}\) for every k. Moreover, we show that every monotone function \({f : \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}}\) is of the \({\alpha}\) th stable Baire class if and only if it belongs to the first stable Baire class.  相似文献

Let \(\mathrm{SM}_{2n}(S^1,\mathbb {R})\) be a set of stable Morse functions of an oriented circle such that the number of singular points is \(2n\in \mathbb {N}\) and the order of singular values satisfies the particular condition. For an orthogonal projection \(\pi :\mathbb {R}^2\rightarrow \mathbb {R}\), let \({\tilde{f}}_0\) and \({\tilde{f}}_1:S^1\rightarrow \mathbb {R}^2\) be embedding lifts of f. If there is an ambient isotopy \(\tilde{\varphi }_t:\mathbb {R}^2\rightarrow \mathbb {R}^2\) \((t\in [0,1])\) such that \({\pi \circ \tilde{\varphi }}_t(y_1,y_2)=y_1\) and \(\tilde{\varphi }_1\circ {\tilde{f}}_0={\tilde{f}}_1\), we say that \({\tilde{f}}_0\) and \({\tilde{f}}_1\) are height isotopic. We define a function \(I:\mathrm{SM}_{2n}(S^1,\mathbb {R})\rightarrow \mathbb {N}\) as follows: I(f) is the number of height isotopy classes of embeddings such that each rotation number is one. In this paper, we determine the maximal value of the function I equals the n-th Baxter number and the minimal value equals \(2^{n-1}\).  相似文献

In this article, using the heat kernel approach from Bouche (Asymptotic results for Hermitian line bundles over complex manifolds: The heat kernel approach, Higher-dimensional complex varieties, pp 67–81, de Gruyter, Berlin, 1996), we derive sup-norm bounds for cusp forms of integral and half-integral weight. Let \({\Gamma\subset \mathrm{PSL}_{2}(\mathbb{R})}\) be a cocompact Fuchsian subgroup of first kind. For \({k \in \frac{1}{2} \mathbb{Z}}\) (or \({k \in 2\mathbb{Z}}\)), let \({S^{k}_{\nu}(\Gamma)}\) denote the complex vector space of cusp forms of weight-k and nebentypus \({\nu^{2k}}\) (\({\nu^{k\slash 2}}\), if \({k \in 2\mathbb{Z}}\)) with respect to \({\Gamma}\), where \({\nu}\) is a unitary character. Let \({\lbrace f_{1},\ldots,f_{j_{k}} \rbrace}\) denote an orthonormal basis of \({S^{k}_{\nu}(\Gamma)}\). In this article, we show that as \({k \rightarrow \infty,}\) the sup-norm for \({\sum_{i=1}^{j_{k}}y^{k}|f_{i}(z)|^{2}}\) is bounded by O(k), where the implied constant is independent of \({\Gamma}\). Furthermore, using results from Berman (Math. Z. 248:325–344, 2004), we extend these results to the case when \({\Gamma}\) is cofinite.  相似文献

We call the \({\delta}\)-vector of an integral convex polytope of dimension d flat if the \({\delta}\)-vector is of the form \({(1,0,\ldots,0,a,\ldots,a,0,\ldots,0)}\), where \({a \geq 1}\). In this paper, we give the complete characterization of possible flat \({\delta}\)-vectors. Moreover, for an integral convex polytope \({\mathcal{P}\subset \mathbb{R}^N}\) of dimension d, we let \({i(\mathcal{P},n)=|n\mathcal{P}\cap \mathbb{Z}^N|}\) and \({i^*(\mathcal{P},n)=|n(\mathcal{P} {\setminus}\partial \mathcal{P})\cap \mathbb{Z}^N|}\). By this characterization, we show that for any \({d \geq 1}\) and for any \({k,\ell \geq 0}\) with \({k+\ell \leq d-1}\), there exist integral convex polytopes \({\mathcal{P}}\) and \({\mathcal{Q}}\) of dimension d such that (i) For \({t=1,\ldots,k}\), we have \({i(\mathcal{P},t)=i(\mathcal{Q},t),}\) (ii) For \({t=1,\ldots,\ell}\), we have \({i^*(\mathcal{P},t)=i^*(\mathcal{Q},t)}\), and (iii) \({i(\mathcal{P},k+1) \neq i(\mathcal{Q},k+1)}\) and \({i^*(\mathcal{P},\ell+1)\neq i^*(\mathcal{Q},\ell+1)}\).  相似文献

For a generic \({f \in C^\infty({\mathbb {R}}^3,{\mathbb {R}}^3)}\), there is a discrete set of swallowtail critical points. At any swallowtail point p there exists a well-oriented coordinate system centred at p, and a coordinate system centred at f(p), such that locally f has the form \({f_\pm(x, y, z) = (\pm xy+x^2 z+x^4, y, z)}\), so one may associate with p a sign \({I(f, p) \in \{\pm 1\}}\). We shall show how to compute the number of swallowtail points having the positive/negative sign, in the case where \({f : {\mathbb {R}}^3 \rightarrow {\mathbb {R}}^3}\) is a polynomial mapping, in terms of signatures of quadratic forms.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Schrödinger operator ?Δ + V on \({\mathbb R^d}\), where the nonnegative potential V belongs to the reverse Hölder class \({B_{q_{_1}}}\) for some \({q_{_1}\geq \frac{d}{2}}\) with d ≥ 3. Let \({H^1_L(\mathbb R^d)}\) denote the Hardy space related to the Schrödinger operator L = ?Δ + V and \({BMO_L(\mathbb R^d)}\) be the dual space of \({H^1_L(\mathbb R^d)}\). We show that the Schrödinger type operator \({\nabla(-\Delta +V)^{-\beta}}\) is bounded from \({H^1_L(\mathbb R^d)}\) into \({L^p(\mathbb R^d)}\) for \({p=\frac{d}{d-(2\beta-1)}}\) with \({ \frac{1}{2}<\beta<\frac{3}{2} }\) and that it is also bounded from \({L^p(\mathbb R^d)}\) into \({BMO_L(\mathbb R^d)}\) for \({p=\frac{d}{2\beta-1}}\) with \({ \frac{1}{2}<\beta< 2}\).  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions for the following second-order p(t)-Laplacian–Hamiltonian systems

where \({t \in \mathbb{R}}\), \({u \in \mathbb{R}^n}\), \({p \in C(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})}\) with p(t) > 1, \({a \in C(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})}\), \({W\in C^1(\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^n,\mathbb{R})}\) and \({\nabla W(t,u)}\) is the gradient of W(t, u) in u. The point is that, assuming that a(t) is bounded in the sense that there are constants \({0<\tau_1<\tau_2<\infty}\) such that \({\tau_1\leq a(t)\leq \tau_2 }\) for all \({t \in \mathbb{R}}\) and W(t, u) is of super-p(t) growth or sub-p(t) growth as \({|u|\rightarrow \infty}\), we provide two new criteria to ensure the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions, respectively. Recent results in the literature are extended and significantly improved.

This paper is concerned with the blow-up solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) with oscillating nonlinearities. The limiting profiles of the blow-up solutions u(t, x) with initial data \({\|u_0\|_{L^2}=\|Q\|_{L^2}}\) are obtained. It reads that \({|u(t,x)|^2\rightarrow \|Q\|_{L^2}^2\delta_{x=y_1}}\) (Dirac function), as \({t \rightarrow T}\) , and that u(t, x) converges strongly to Q(x) in the energy space \({\Sigma=\{u\in H^1; \int |x|^2|u|^2dx<\infty\}}\) up to scaling and phase parameters and also translation in the nonradial case.  相似文献

If \({\|\cdot\|}\) has a normalized 1-symmetric basis \({\{e_i\}_{i=1}^n}\) then the following inequalities hold: for all \({x,y\in \mathbb{R}^n}\), \({\|x\|\cdot\|y\|_*\le \max(\|x\|_1\cdot\|y\|_\infty,\|x\|_\infty\cdot\|y\|_1)}\) and if the basis is only 1-unconditional and normalized then for all \({x \in \mathbb{R}^n}\) , \({\|x\|+\|x\|_{*}\leq \|x\|_1+\|x\|_\infty}\) . We consider other geometric generalizations and apply these results to get, as a special case, estimates on best random embeddings of k-dimensional Hilbert spaces in the spaces of nuclear operators \({{\mathcal N}(K,K)}\) of dimension n 2, for all k = [λn 2] and 0 < λ < 1. We obtain universal upper bounds independent on the 1-symmetric norm \({\|.\|}\) for the products of pth moments

Let \({L_{w}}{:=-w^{-1}{\rm div}(A\nabla)}\) be the degenerate elliptic operator on the Euclidean space \({{\mathbb{R}^{n}}}\), where w is a Muckenhoupt \({A_{2}({\mathbb{R}^{n}})}\) weight. In this article, the authors establish the Riesz transform characterization of the Hardy space \({H^{p}_{L_{w}}({\mathbb{R}}^{n})}\) associated with Lw, for \({w \in A_{q}({\mathbb{R}}^{n}) \cap RH_{\frac{n}{n-2}}({\mathbb{R}^{n}})}\) with \({n \geq 3}\), \({q \in [1,2]}\) and \({p \in (q(\frac{1}{r}+\frac{q-1}{2}+\frac{1}{n})^{-1},1]}\) if, for some \({r \in (1,\,2]}\), \({{\{tL_w e^{-tL_w}\}}_{t\geq 0}}\) satisfies the weighted \({L^{r}-L^{2}}\) full off-diagonal estimates.  相似文献

A theorem due to Stieltjes’ states that if \({\{p_n\}_{n=0}^\infty}\) is any orthogonal sequence then, between any two consecutive zeros of p k , there is at least one zero of p n whenever k < n, a property called Stieltjes interlacing. We show that Stieltjes interlacing extends to the zeros of Gegenbauer polynomials \({C_{n+1}^{\lambda}}\) and \({C_{n-1}^{\lambda+t}}\), \({\lambda > -\frac 12}\), if 0 < tk + 1, and also to the zeros of \({C_{n+1}^{\lambda}}\) and \({C_{n-2}^{\lambda +k}}\) if \({k\in\{1,2,3\}}\). More generally, we prove that Stieltjes interlacing holds between the zeros of the kth derivative of \({C_{n}^{\lambda}}\) and the zeros of \({C_{n+1}^{\lambda}}\), \({k\in\{1,2,\dots,n-1\}}\) and we derive associated polynomials that play an analogous role to the de Boor–Saff polynomials in completing the interlacing process of the zeros.  相似文献

Given an i.i.d sample (Y i , Z i ), taking values in \({\mathbb{R}^{d'}\times\mathbb{R}^d}\), we consider a collection Nadarya–Watson kernel estimators of the conditional expectations \({\mathbb{E}( <\,c_g(z),g(Y)>+d_g(z)\mid Z=z)}\), where z belongs to a compact set \({H\subset \mathbb{R}^d}\), g a Borel function on \({\mathbb{R}^{d'}}\) and c g (·), d g (·) are continuous functions on \({\mathbb{R}^d}\). Given two bandwidth sequences \({h_n<\mathfrak{h}_n}\) fulfilling mild conditions, we obtain an exact and explicit almost sure limit bounds for the deviations of these estimators around their expectations, uniformly in \({g\in\mathcal{G},\;z\in H}\) and \({h_n\le h\le \mathfrak{h}_n}\) under mild conditions on the density f Z , the class \({\mathcal{G}}\), the kernel K and the functions c g (·), d g (·). We apply this result to prove that smoothed empirical likelihood can be used to build confidence intervals for conditional probabilities \({\mathbb{P}( Y\in C\mid Z=z)}\), that hold uniformly in \({z\in H,\; C\in \mathcal{C},\; h\in [h_n,\mathfrak{h}_n]}\). Minimal isometric immersions \(f : M^{2n} \rightarrow {\mathbb{R}}^{2n+2}\) in codimension two from a complete Kähler manifold into Euclidean space had been classified in Dajczer and Gromoll (Invent Math 119:235–242, 1995) for n ≥  3. In this note we describe the non-minimal situation showing that, if f is real analytic but not everywhere minimal, then f is a cylinder over a real Kähler surface \(g : N^4 \rightarrow {\mathbb{R}}^6\) , that is, \(M^{2n} = N^4 \times {\mathbb{C}}^{n-2}\) and f = g × id split, where \({id} : {\mathbb{C}}^{n-2} \cong {\mathbb{R}}^{2n-4}\) is the identity map. We deal with functions which fulfil the condition \({\Delta_h^{n+1} \varphi(x)\in\mathbb{Z}}\) for all x, h taken from some linear space V. For any prime p and positive integers c, d there is up to isomorphism a unique p-group \({G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) of least order having any (finite) p-group G with rank \({d(G) \le d}\) and Frattini class \({c_{p}(G) \le c}\) as epimorphic image. Here \({c_{p}(G) = n}\) is the least positive integer such that G has a central series of length n with all factors being elementary. This “disposition” p-group \({G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) has been examined quite intensively in the literature, sometimes controversially. The objective of this paper is to present a summary of the known facts, and to add some new results. For instance we show that for \({G = G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) the centralizer \({C_{G}(x) = \langle Z(G), x \rangle}\) whenever \({x \in G}\) is outside the Frattini subgroup, and that for odd p and \({d \ge 2}\) the group \({E = G_{d}^{c+1}(p)/(G_{d}^{c+1}(p))^{p^{c}}}\) is a distinguished Schur cover of G with \({E/Z(E) \cong G}\). We also have a fibre product construction of \({G_{d}^{c+1}(p)}\) in terms of \({G = G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) which might be of interest for Galois theory.  相似文献
