We investigated the modulation of the optical properties of GaAs-based structures by a surface acoustic wave (SAW) by microscopic measurements of reflectance and photoluminescence. We demonstrate that for photon energies away from electronic resonances, the modulation of the optical properties is associated with the strain field of the SAW (elastooptical mechanism). Close to the E0 resonance, the electrooptical modulation due to the SAW piezoelectric fields becomes important and leads to a spatial modulation of the photoluminescence intensity. 相似文献

In a conventional sinusoidal phase-modulating laser-diode (SPM-LD) interferometer, the wavelength of the LD is sinusoidally modulated by varying its injection current. However, the intensity modulation is associated with the wavelength modulation, which affects the measurement accuracy. We propose an SPM-LD interferometer insensitive to the intensity modulation of the light source, in which the influence of the intensity modulation is eliminated by choosing the appropriate sinusoidal phase modulation depth. Computer simulations and experiments are performed for real-time displacement measurement with the proposed SPM-LD interferometer. The measurement accuracy has been improved and the measurement repeatability is less than 1 nm. No additional components are required in our proposed method that leads to a simple system compared with the other previously proposed methods. 相似文献

We show theoretically that in elastic layered structures containing an upper layer of smoothly varied thickness and a substrate of a highly dispersive metametarial it is possible to significantly enhance spatial frequency separation of surface acoustic waves. Theory of Love surface acoustic waves propagation in waveguides with varied thickness, taking into account mutual modes coupling, is built. Appropriate structure of metamatererial with resonant frequency dependence of material parameters, making frequency separation effective, is provided. Efficiency of spatial frequency separation and modes coupling is calculated for various metamaterial parameters and wave frequencies. 相似文献

Efficient focussing of surface acoustic waves has been achieved using a properly shaped gold film deposit on the −22.3° rotated
Y-cut surface of quartz. The acoustic wave field was studied with laser probing techniques. A more than threefold increase
in intensity and a tenfold decrease in beam width was observed at the focal point. The focussing action was obtained with
the elastic wave equivalent of the Fresnel phase-reversal zone plate of optics. The multiple foci of this device allowed a
simultaneous generation of acoustic waves in nearly all directions on the surface. Consequently, the surface wave velocity
anisotropy could be determined completely. The experimental results are in very good agreement with the calculated velocity
anisotropy. Electromagnetic diffraction theory is adopted to the two dimensional anisotropic system to analyse the performance

The optimum finite element model in the system consisting of a transparent coating and an opaque substrate is established based on the analysis of two important parameters: meshing size and time step, and the stability of solution. Taking into account the temperature dependence of material properties, the transient temperature and temperature gradient field are obtained. According to the thermoelastic theory, this temperature gradient field can be taken as a buried bulk source to generate ultrasonic wave. The surface acoustic waves (SAWs) are obtained. The influence of the coating thickness on the SAWs is analyzed. The model provides a useful tool for the determination of modes which are generated by a laser source in transparent coating on opaque substrate. The surface skimming longitudinal wave exists for the multiple oscillations and it charges from unipolar waveforms to dipolar. 相似文献

We demonstrate an innovative pump–probe technique combined with laser heating to determine the velocity of a surface Rayleigh wave at high temperature. Laser ultrasonics in a point-source–point-receiver configuration was combined with laser heating to evaluate the elastic properties of micron size specimens. In this paper, I study the effect of a small deviation from the Fermi–Dirac statistics on the quantum ion acoustic waves. For this purpose, a quantum hydrodynamic model is developed based on the Polychronakos statistics, which allows for a smooth interpolation between the Fermi and Bose limits, passing through the case of classical particles. The model includes the effect of pressure as well as quantum diffraction effects through the Bohm potential. The equation of state for electrons obeying fractional statistics is obtained and the effect of fractional statistics on the kinetic energy and the coupling parameter is analyzed. Through the model, the effect of fractional statistics on the quantum ion acoustic waves is highlighted, exploring both linear and weakly nonlinear regimes. It is found that fractional statistics enhance the amplitude and diminish the width of the quantum ion acoustic waves. Furthermore, it is shown that a small deviation from the Fermi–Dirac statistics can modify the type structures, from bright to dark soliton. All known results of fully degenerate and non-degenerate cases are reproduced in the proper limits. 相似文献

结合声表面波和光致发光谱在低温(15K)下对非故意掺杂的GaAs(110)量子阱结构的发光特性进行了研究.实验结果表明,由于声表面波的作用GaAs(110)量子阱的发光强度减弱,并且其对应的重空穴能级出现了分裂的现象,当施加的声波强度Prf达到20dBm时,能级分裂ΔE达到了10meV.进一步讨论了声表面波对GaAs(110)量子阱圆偏振光自旋注入的影响.

Effects of a prestrained InGaN interlayer on the emission properties of InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells in a laser diode structure 下载免费PDF全文
The electroluminescence (EL) and photoluminescence (PL) spectra of InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells (MQWs) with a prestrained InGaN interlayer in a laser diode structure are investigated. When the injection current increases from 5 mA to 50 mA, the blueshift of the EL emission peak is 1 meV for the prestrained sample and 23 meV for a control sample with the conventional structure. Also, the internal quantum efficiency and the EL intensity at the injection current of 20 mA are increased by 71% and 65% respectively by inserting the prestrained InGaN interlayer. The reduced blueshift and the enhanced emission are attributed mainly to the reduced quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE) in the prestrained sample. Such attributions are supported by the theoretical simulation results, which reveal the smaller piezoelectric field and the enhanced overlap of electron and hole wave functions in the prestrained sample. Therefore, the prestrained InGaN interlayer contributes to strain relaxation in the MQW layer and enhancement of light emission due to the reduction of QCSE. 相似文献

本文对InGaN/GaN多量子阱结构发光二极管开启后的电流噪声进行了测试, 结合低频电流噪声的特点和载流子之间的复合机理, 研究了低频电流噪声功率谱密度与发光二极管发光转变机理之间的关系. 结论表明, 当电流从0.1 mA到10 mA逐渐增大的过程中, InGaN/GaN发光二极管的电流噪声行为从产生-复合噪声逐渐接近于低频1/f噪声, 载流子的复合机理从非辐射复合过渡为电子与空穴之间载流子数的辐射复合, 并具有标准1/f噪声的趋势, 此时多量子阱中的电子和空穴之间的复合趋向于稳定. 本文的结论提供了一种表征InGaN/GaN多量子阱发光二极管发光机理转变的有效方法, 为进一步研究发光二极管中载流子的复合机理、优化和设计发光二极管、提高其发光量子效率提供理论依据. 相似文献

Based on the effective-mass approximation, the competition effects between the laser field and applied electric field on impurity states have been investigated variationally in the ZB GaN/AlGaN quantum well (QW). Numerical results show that for any laser field, the electric field makes the donor binding energy present asymmetric distribution with respect to the center of the QW. Moreover, when the laser field is weak, the electric field effects are obvious on the donor binding energy; however, the electric field effects are insensitive to the variation of donor binding energy in the ZB GaN/AlGaN QW with strong laser field. 相似文献

A systematic study of binding energy of the ground state of a hydrogenic donor in a quantum well is calculated in the presence of a uniform electric field for different measure of laser intensities. Binding energy of the ground state of a donor is calculated, within the effective mass approximation, with the Bessel and Airy functions. Polarizability of a laser dressed donor impurity in the presence of electric field is reported. It is observed that the polarizability (i) increases as intensity of the laser field increases (ii) increases with the electric field strength and (iii) increases drastically when both the fields are applied. The dependence of the donor binding energy on the well width, the laser field intensity and the electric field is discussed. Our results are in good agreement with the previous investigations for other heterostructures in the presence of laser intensity. 相似文献

The extraordinary case of increase in velocity of surface acoustic waves (SAW) caused by electrical shorting of the surface of the superstrong piezoelectric crystal potassium niobate, KNbO3, is numerically found. The explanation of this effect is based on considering SAWs as coupled Rayleigh and Bleustein-Gulyaev modes. A general procedure of approximate decoupling of the modes is suggested for piezoelectric crystals of arbitrary anisotropy. The effect under study takes place when the phase velocity of uncoupled sagittally polarized Rayleigh waves is intermediate between the phase velocities of uncoupled shear-horizontal Bleustein Gulyaev waves at the free and metallized surfaces. In this case, the metallization of the surface by an infinitely thin layer may cause a crossover of the velocity curves of the uncoupled waves. The presence of the mode coupling results in splitting of the curves with transition from one uncoupled branch to the other. This transition is responsible for the increase in SAW velocity, which appears to be greater than its common decrease produced by electrical shorting of the substrate surface. 相似文献

Anisotropic strain effects by strain relaxation on TE-polarized light emission characteristics of c-plane CdZnO/ZnO quantum well (QW) structures were theoretically investigated by using the multiband effective-mass theory. The CdZnO/ZnO QW structure with anisotropic strain has much larger emission intensity than conventional CdZnO/ZnO QW structure without the strain relaxation. In the case of the strain relaxation along x(or y)-direction, the x(or y)-polarized light emission is observed to be larger than the x(or y)-polarized light emission. In particular, in the case of the strain relaxation along both x- and y-directions, the increase in the spontaneous emission peak is significant. This can be explained by the fact that the internal field is reduced owing to the decrease in the piezoelectric field by the strain relaxation. 相似文献

The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for spectral modulation of the femtosecond laser pulses with 110 nm ultra-broad bandwidth is demonstrated on the basis of the development of ultrashort pulse laser sources which supports good spatial resolution and high peak intensity. Employing the femtosecond surface plasmon polariton pulses launched by a Kretschmann configuration, whose reflectivity curve has the characteristic of the ultra-broad bandwidth, we observe a frequency-dependent loss with greater attenuation at the peak of the spectrum profile than in the wings, which is very useful for adequate spectral modulation. The SPR for the spectral modulation is investigated in theoretical and experimental aspects. The arbitrary spectral modulation of the femtosecond laser pulses can be fulfilled by controlling and optimizing the SPR of the gold film. 为了研究直达表面波在圆弧过渡面处传播性能的变化,采用有限元方法模拟了热弹机制下,线性脉冲激光辐照金属铝块表面时激发的表面波在近表面传播过程中,在不同曲率半径的圆弧处发生的反射及透射现象,建立了圆弧半径与反射表面波以及透射表面波时域信号特征之间的联系。计算结果表明:曲率半径与表面波中心波长的数值关系对表面波在圆弧处的传播有显著的影响;同时证明了根据透射表面波信号的到达时间可以反演圆弧半径的大小,为之后利用表面波信号定量检测材料表面圆弧凹痕的深度提供了理论依据。 相似文献

The local delivery of therapeutic small interfering RNA or siRNA to the lungs has the potential to improve the prognosis for patients suffering debilitating lung diseases. Recent advances in materials science have been aimed at addressing delivery challenges including biodistribution, bioavailability and cell internalization, but an equally important challenge to overcome is the development of an inhalation device that can deliver the siRNA effectively to the lung, without degrading the therapeutic itself. Here, we report the nebulization of siRNA, either naked siRNA or complexed with polyethyleneimine (PEI) or a commercial transfection agent, using a miniaturizable acoustomicrofluidic nebulization device. The siRNA solution could be nebulised without significant degradation into an aerosol mist with tunable mean aerodynamic diameters of approximately 3 µm, which is appropriate for deep lung deposition via inhalation. The nebulized siRNA was tested for its stability, as well as its toxicity and gene silencing properties using the mammalian lung carcinoma cell line A549, which demonstrated that the gene silencing capability of siRNA is retained after nebulization. This highlights the potential application of the acoustomicrofluidic device for the delivery of efficacious siRNA via inhalation, either for systemic delivery via the alveolar epithelium or local therapeutic delivery to the lung. 相似文献
