Polarization data for elastic scattering of 1 GeV protons from nuclei are presented. The data have been analyzed in terms of Glauber theory and the spin-orbit proton-nucleon amplitude has been determined. Inclusion of the spin-orbit interaction in the analysis is shown to have a small effect on the extracted matter distributions.  相似文献

The elastic and inelastic scattering data of 1 GeV protons on 12C, 39K,40, 48Ca, 58Ni and 208Pb are analysed within the framework of Glauber theory. The collective excitations to one-phonon levels are treated using the Tassie model under the adiabatic approximation. Effects of both the coupling between the elastic and the inelastic channels and the two-body correlation in the intrinsic state are considered. The ground state and transition densities for the protons are taken from electron scattering experiments and appropriate assumptions for the neutron densities are made. In most of the cases, better agreement with the experimental data than reported in earlier analyses is obtained. The effects of the coupling and the pair correlation seem to be important only for 12C. The elastic data strongly indicate that the density distributions for protons and neutrons in 48Ca and 208Pb are different. In 48Ca, the surface envelope of the neutron distribution is found to be the same as for the proton distribution but is placed at a larger radius. On the other hand, the neutron distribution in 208Pb seems to be relatively much more diffuse.  相似文献

The p-nucleus elastic scattering differential cross section at 1 GeV has been calculated for 12C, 58Ni and 208Pb using the Glauber multiple scattering theory. A reasonable fit to experimental data is obtained without adjustable parameter.  相似文献

We discuss a particular form of spin-rotation distribution in the context of proton-nuclear scattering and indicate its behaviour as a function of momentum transfer. We point out that besides effectively completing our knowledge of the nuclear scattering amplitudes the measurement of this function would furnish information both about the nuclear density distribution and about parts of the fundamental proton-nucleon spin-orbit scattering amplitudes. The latter are terms of the amplitudes which have been left undetermined by existing polarization data.  相似文献

Differential elastic cross sections and polarizations are calculated in a multiple-scattering formalism for proton-nucleus scattering at 1 GeV incident energy. The calculations include Coulomb and spin effects. Corrections to the Glauber model are studied. It is shown that for momentum transfer up to 2.0–2.5 fm?1 the reaction mechanism can be taken with confidence. Consequently, fits to the experimental data over this limited range in q can be considered to extract nuclear structure information. In the present case, use has been made of nuclear densities arising from self-consistent calculations. The calculations are compared with experimental data.  相似文献

The vector and tensor polarization of the deuteron after scattering and the dependence of the cross section on the polarization before scattering are given for elastic electron deuteron scattering treating the deuteron as a spin 1 elementary particle characterized by three electromagnetic formfactors and describing the interaction by the first Born approximation. By using polarization measurements a separation of the charge and quadrupole formfactors may be accomplished, and thus the assumptions may be tested, which are necessary for the extraction of the isoscalar nucleon formfactors from the deuteron formfactors.  相似文献

The polarization potential is determined for the adiabatic sub-Coulomb scattering of two nuclei. No collective coordinates are used. The relevant nuclear polarizabilities are evaluated by means of sum rules. The departure from the pure Rutherford scattering law is calculated for various nuclei. For adiabatic heavy-ion collision the differential cross section is found to be reduced below the Coulomb scattering by one percent at backward angles.  相似文献

Elastic proton scattering from Be, C, and O isotopes has been investigated in the relativistic impulse approximation (RIA). In the calculations, the nucleon-nucleus optical potentials are obtained using ground state nuclear matter densities, which are computed using the relativistic mean field model with the FSU parameter set. The scattering observables, including differential cross section, analyzing power, and spin-rotation function, are analyzed. It is found that the scattering observables for O isotopic chains display a clear mass dependence, for instance, the minimum analyzing power shifts to a low scattering angle with increasing mass number. While for the Be isotopic chain, the emergence of a neutron halo in 14 Be breaks this trend, i.e., the minimum analyzing powers for 12 Be and 14 Be are almost the same as each other.  相似文献

A multiple scattering formalism for the medium energy hadron-deuteron elastic scattering is developed. This approach provides an extension of the Glauber theory incorporating the complete spin structure and the corrections to the eikonal and fixed scatterer approximations. The systematics of the spin observables and their relation to the hadron-deuteron as well as to hadron-nucleon amplitudes are discussed. An approximate cancellation between few corrections to the double scattering term is found which leaves the non-eikonal correction as the dominant one, and often, very important numerically, e.g., in the deuteron tensor polarization. Comparison of the parameter-free predictions of the theory based on the recent NN phase shift amplitudes with the data on polarization observables in pd elastic scattering is made.  相似文献

The elastic scattering differential cross section for p-48Ca and p-48Ti at 1 GeV are discussed. Calculations based on self-consistent proton and neutron densities fail to reproduce the experimental data. As shown by simple arguments, the discrepancy may be related to incorrect nuclear surface slopes.  相似文献

Recent measurements of differential and elastic cross-sections, slope parameters and ratios of the real and imaginary parts of the forward scattering amplitudes for pion-proton elastic scattering at 200 GeV/c have been fitted by using a simple Regge pole model with phenomenological residue functions. Elastic proton-helium cross sections and polarizations at 1.05 GeV are calculated in the multiple diffraction approximation with inclusion of intermediate isobar states. Antiproton-proton elastic scattering data at 6.2 GeV/c in the range 0.3 (GeV/c)2 ? ?t ? 10.0 (GeV/c)2 is presented. The experiment, using spark chambers and proportional chambers, was performed at the CERN Proton Synchroton.The dip at about ?t = 0.5 and the structure at about ?t = 2.2 (GeV/c)2 are equally strong at 6.2 GeV/c as they are at 5.0 GeV/c. The differential cross sections around 90° c.m. are not very different at 5.0 GeV/c and at 6.2 GeV/c, whereas in the backward region there is a decrease of the order of one magnitude.  相似文献

The coupled-channel method for multiple scattering is employed to describe the p-4He elastic-scattering data for a proton laboratory energy of 1.03 GeV. Particular attention is paid to the double spin-flip, double isospin-flip, double spin-isospin flip and to the effects of isobar excitation of the incident proton. It is found that the presently available data is consistent with either the excitation and deexcitation of the proton to an isobar by the 4He nucleus or the presence of relatively large double spin-flip nucleon-nucleon amplitudes. The physical difference between these two hypotheses is discussed.  相似文献

αα elastic scattering was measured at 4.32 GeV/c and 5.07 GeV/c incident momenta. The four-momentum transfer range, extending from ?0.05 to ?0.77 (GeV/c)2, covers the first and second minimum regions. The results are compared with calculations based on Glauber theory.  相似文献

Various symmetries of inelastic proton-nucleus scattering within the Glauber model are discussed. They are obtained from symmetries of the corresponding proton-nucleon amplitude. In particular, it is shown that the polarization and analyzing power are in general not equal.  相似文献
