For estimating the entropy of an absolutely continuous multivariate distribution, we propose nonparametric estimators based on the Euclidean distances between the n sample points and their k n -nearest neighbors, where {k n : n = 1, 2, …} is a sequence of positive integers varying with n. The proposed estimators are shown to be asymptotically unbiased and consistent.   相似文献

The hyperoperations, called theta-operations (δ), are motivated from the usual property, which the derivative has on the derivation of a product of functions. Using any map on a set, one can define δ-operations. In this paper, we continue our study on the δ-operations on groupoids, rings, fields and vector spaces or on the corresponding hyperstructures. Using δ-operations one obtains, mainly, Hwstructures, which form the largest class of the hyperstructures. For representation theory of hyperstructures, by hypermatrices, one needs special Hv-rings or Hy-fields, so these hyperstructures can be used. Moreover, we study the relation of these δ-structures with other classes of hyperstructures, especially with the Hv-structures.  相似文献

In this paper the author first introduce a new concept of L p -dual mixed volumes of star bodies which extends the classical dual mixed volumes. Moreover, we extend the notions of L p intersection body to L p -mixed intersection body. Inequalities for L p -dual mixed volumes of L p -mixed intersection bodies are established and the results established here provide new estimates for these type of inequalities. By multidimensional matrix inversion, combined with an A r extension of Jackson’s 8 φ 7 summation formula by Milne, a new multivariable 8 φ 7 summation is derived. By a polynomial argument this 8 φ 7 summation is transformed to another multivariable 8 φ 7 summation which, by taking a suitable limit, is reduced to a new multivariable extension of the nonterminating 6 φ 5 summation. The latter is then extended, by analytic continuation, to a new multivariable extension of Bailey’s very-well-poised 6 ψ 6 summation formula. Let A and F be artin algebras and ∧UГa paper, we first introduce the notion of k-Gorenstein faithfully balanced selforthogonal bimodule. In this modules with respect to ∧UГ and then characterize it in terms of the U-resolution dimension of some special injective modules and the property of the functors Ext^i (Ext^i (-, U), U) preserving monomorphisms, which develops a classical result of Auslander. As an application, we study the properties of dual modules relative to Gorenstein bimodules. In addition, we give some properties of ∧UГwith finite left or right injective dimension.  相似文献

Plesnik in 1972 proved that an (m - 1)-edge connected m-regular graph of even order has a 1-factor containing any given edge and has another 1-factor excluding any given m - 1 edges. Alder et al. in 1999 showed that if G is a regular (2n + 1)-edge-connected bipartite graph, then G has a 1-factor containing any given edge and excluding any given matching of size n. In this paper we obtain some sufficient conditions related to the edge-connectivity for an n-regular graph to have a k-factor containing a set of edges and (or) excluding a set of edges, where 1 ≤ k ≤n/2. In particular, we generalize Plesnik's result and the results obtained by Liu et al. in 1998, and improve Katerinis' result obtained 1993. Furthermore, we show that the results in this paper are the best possible.  相似文献

The concept of the k-pairable graphs was introduced by Zhibo Chen (On k-pairable graphs, Discrete Mathematics 287 (2004), 11–15) as an extension of hypercubes and graphs with an antipodal isomorphism. In the same paper, Chen also introduced a new graph parameter p(G), called the pair length of a graph G, as the maximum k such that G is k-pairable and p(G) = 0 if G is not k-pairable for any positive integer k. In this paper, we answer the two open questions raised by Chen in the case that the graphs involved are restricted to be trees. That is, we characterize the trees G with p(G) = 1 and prove that p(GH) = p(G) + p(H) when both G and H are trees.  相似文献

The k-out-of-n model is commonly used in reliability theory. In this model the failure of any component of the system does not influence the components still at work. Sequential k-out-of-n systems have been introduced as an extension of k-out-of-n systems where the failure of some component of the system may influence the remaining ones. We consider nonparametric estimation of the cumulative hazard function, the reliability function and the quantile function of sequential k-out-of-n systems. Furthermore, nonparametric hypothesis testing for sequential k-out-of-n-systems is examined. We make use of counting processes to show strong consistency and weak convergence of the estimators and to derive the asymptotic distribution of the test statistics.  相似文献

We make a definition of ω-precategory which should underlie any definition of weak ω-category. We make a precise definition of pseudo-invertible cells in this setting. We show that in an ω-precategory with all weak duals, every cell is pseudo-invertible. We deduce that in any “sensible” theory of ω-categories, an ω-category with all weak duals is an ω-groupoid. We discuss various examples and open questions involving higher-dimensional tangles and cobordisms.   相似文献

We introduce the concept of θ-derivations on JB*-triples and prove the Hyers–Ulam-Rassias stability of θ-derivations on JB*-triples. We deal with the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability that was first introduced by Th. M. Rassias in the paper “On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Circle numbers are defined to reflect the Euclidean area-content and, for p ≠ 2, suitably defined non-Euclidean circumference properties of the l 2,p -circles, p ∈ [1, ∞]. The resulting function is continuous, increasing, and takes all values from [2, 4]. The actually chosen dual l 2,p -geometry for measuring the arc-length is closely connected with a generalization of the method of indivisibles of Cavalieri and Torricelli in the sense that integrating such arc-lengths means measuring area content. Moreover, this approach enables one to look in a new way into the co-area formula of measure theory which says that integrating Euclidean arc-lengths does not yield area content except for p = 2. The new circle numbers play a natural role, e.g., as norming constants in geometric measure representation formulae for p-generalized uniform probability distributions on l 2,p -circles.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose approximations to compute the steady-state performance measures of the M/GI/N+GI queue receiving Poisson arrivals with N identical servers, and general service and abandonment-time distributions. The approximations are based on scaling a single server M/GI/1+GI queue. For problems involving deterministic and exponential abandon times distributions, we suggest a practical way to compute the waiting time distributions and their moments using the Laplace transform of the workload density function. Our first contribution is numerically computing the workload density function in the M/GI/1+GI queue when the abandon times follow general distributions different from the deterministic and exponential distributions. Then we compute the waiting time distributions and their moments. Next, we scale-up the M/GI/1+GI queue giving rise to our approximations to capture the behavior of the multi-server system. We conduct extensive numerical experiments to test the speed and performance of the approximations, which prove the accuracy of their predictions.   相似文献

An “m-consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system” consists of n components ordered on a line; the system fails if and only if there are at least m nonoverlapping runs of k consecutive failed components. In this paper, we give a recursive formula to compute the reliability of such a system. Thereafter, we state two asymptotic results concerning the failure time Z n of the system. The first result concerns a limit theorem for Z n when the failure times of components are not necessarily with identical failure distributions. In the second one, we prove that, for an arbitrary common failure distribution of components, the limit system failure distribution is always of the Poisson class.   相似文献

In this paper, the robust H control problem of output dynamic observer-based control for a class of uncertain neutral systems is considered. The linear matrix inequality optimization approach is used to design the new H output dynamic controls. Three classes of H observer-based controls are proposed. The minimal H -norm bound and the maximal perturbed bound are given. Based on the result of this paper, the constraint of matrix equality is not necessary for designing the H observer-based controls. A numerical example is given to stress the usefulness of the proposed results. Communicated by C. T. The present paper deals with the problem of calculating queue length distributions in a polling model with (exhaustive) k-limited service under the assumption of general arrival, service and setup distributions. The interest for this model is fueled by an application in the field of logistics. Knowledge of the queue length distributions is needed to operate the system properly. The multi-queue polling system is decomposed into single-queue vacation systems with k-limited service and state-dependent vacations, for which the vacation distributions are computed in an iterative approximate manner. These vacation models are analyzed via matrix-analytic techniques. The accuracy of the approximation scheme is verified by means of an extensive simulation study. The developed approximation turns out to be accurate, robust and computationally efficient.
