Resonant properties of a positive column with excitation of induced strata are considered. The mechanism of steady-state amplitude buildup is established, and the conditions for the soft and hard modes of intrinsic strata excitation are obtained. The conditions under which strata are suppressed when the system is acted upon asynchronously by modulation of the discharge currents are investigated. It is shown that dust lattice waves (DLWs) become parametrically unstable in a turbulent dusty plasma sheath that contains random-phase ion plasma waves. Physically, the parametric instability arises because of the nonlinear coupling between ion plasma waves and DLWs. The parametric instability is identified as the possible reason for the observed "sublimation" transition of the plasma crystal from a solid to a gaslike state.  相似文献

Nonlinear scattering of Langmuir waves of small amplitude in an isotropic relativistic Maxwellian plasma is investigated. A non-relativistic treatment of the investigated effect is given. It is shown that a transverse wave incident on the interface of a velocity discontinuity generates reflected and transmitted waves. Pulse signals, propagating through a turbulent medium such as the ionosphere, can be distorted by dispersion and scattering from both the background medium and irregularities embedded in. Thus, the mean square pulse width is changed, and temporal broadening is introduced. We carry out a study on the temporal broadening with theoretical analyses and numerical simulations by using an analytical solution of two-frequency mutual coherence function obtained recently by iteration. As a case of study, pulse broadening is investigated in detail in trans-ionospheric propagation. Results show that most contributions are mainly from the dispersion of the background ionosphere and scattering effects of electron density irregularities in most cases.  相似文献
