The flow of a thin film of generalized Newtonian fluid down a vertical wall in the gravity field is considered. For small flow-rates, in the long-wave approximation, an equation describing the evolution of the surface perturbations is obtained. Depending on the signs of the coefficients, this equation is equivalent to one of four equations with solutions significantly different in evolutionary behavior. For the most interesting case, soliton solutions are numerically found.  相似文献

The study of mass transfer into falling films constitutes a significant aspect for numerous applications in the chemical technology and is considered the subject of many theoretical and experimental researches. Evaluating the second law of thermodynamics is one of the contemporarily used methods to determine the performances of an industrial process and to study various sources of irreversibility. Expressions of the liquid velocity, the gas concentration, the entropy generation rate as well as the main sources of irreversibility in the case of gas absorption (carbon dioxide) into a laminar falling viscous incompressible liquid film (water) without chemical reaction, are analytically derived and graphically presented and discussed.  相似文献

The temperature field and flow patterns of a liquid film flowing over a vertical uniformly heated surface have been experimentally investigated. Our experiments show that this film flow is sensitive to the heating conditions. When the film is cooled by the substrate, its surface area increases, and when it is heated its surface area decreases. The analysis attributed the changing properties of the flow to lateral Marangoni effect, i.e. to surface tension gradient transverse to the flow. The influence of the viscosity variations on the non-isothermal liquid film flow was also considered and compared with that of the surface tension variations. It was shown that the contraction or extension of the films was mainly caused by the lateral surface tension gradient that might be determined by the viscosity variations.  相似文献

利用等热流密度加热条件下降膜流动的三维模型方程进行线性稳定性分析和数值模拟。线性稳定性分析表明,模型方程在小到中等Reynolds数下都适用,并且流向不稳定性增长率随着Reynolds数和Marangoni数增加而增加,展向不稳定性增长率则随着Marangoni数增加而增加,随着Reynolds数增加而减小,流向和展向对扰动波数都存在一个不稳定区间。三维数值模拟表明,在等热流密度加热条件下,液膜在随机扰动的情况下最终会形成带孤立波的三维溪流状结构,液膜与气体的换热也因溪流状结构的出现而加强;在随机扰动的基础上引入占优势地位的展向最不稳定扰动会使得换热增强,液膜会提前破裂;在随机扰动的基础上引入占优势地位的流向最不稳定扰动时,液膜的换热会增强,但不会提前破裂;在随机扰动的基础上同时引入占优势地位的流向和展向最不稳定扰动时,换热会加强且液膜会提前破裂。  相似文献

Evolution of the vortices of monopole and dipole types in a viscous fluid is considered numerically. Theory and numerical results are compared for some particular exact solutions. A good agreement is obtained for the dipole vortices (viscous Chaplygin-Lamb vortices) moving with variable velocities due to viscosity. For the monopole type vortices, the agreement is more or less good only at an initial stage of their evolution; while in the long-lime asymptotics the law of vorticity decay other than the theoretical one is discovered. The reason for such a discrepancy is discussed. The interactions of dipole vortices with each other and with rigid boundaries are studied too. The stability of dipole vortices with complex internal structures is considered briefly.  相似文献

Gas entrainment by a liquid film falling around a stationary Taylor bubble in a 0.1 m diameter vertical tube is studied experimentally with the purpose of validating a model formulated in an earlier phase of our research. According to this model for a fixed liquid velocity the gas entrainment should be proportional to the waviness of the film (its intermittency) and the wave height and inversely proportional to the film thickness. For Taylor bubble lengths ranging from 1D to 15D these film parameters have been measured with a Laser Induced Fluorescence technique. The gas entrainment has been determined from the net gas flux into the liquid column underneath the Taylor bubble by using data on gas re-coalescence into the rear of the Taylor bubble. These data are available for lengths ranging from 4.5D to 9D. The model results with the measured film characteristics compare well with the observed gas entrainment. The fact that the net gas flux becomes constant for long Taylor bubbles, whereas the wave height still increases, warrants further study.  相似文献

A thin film flow of a viscous liquid flowing down a vertical wall in the field of the gravity force is studied. The values of temperatures on the solid wall and on the free surface are constant. The viscosity and thermal diffusivity are functions of temperature. The flow of a thin film of a nonlinearly viscous fluid whose stress tensor is modeled by a power law, flowing down a vertical plane in the field of gravity, is considered. For the case of low flow rates, an equation that describes the evolution of surface disturbances is derived in the long-wave approximation. The domain of linear stability of the trivial solution is found, and weakly nonlinear, steady-state travelling solutions of this equation are obtained. The numerical solution of the thin film flow surrounding a horizontal cylinder resulting from a single vertical cylindrical jet is obtained. This is effected by transforming the domain of the flow, which contains a free surface, onto a rectangular parallelepiped and using a marching strategy to solve the ensuing parabolic equations. The flow terminates at a finite distance along the cylinder, its position depending on the velocity and mass flux of the jet. A comparison with the usual two-dimensional model in which the jet is replaced by a vertical sheet shows that such a representation is valid provided the overall width of the flow is not too large. In particular, the differences in heat transfer characteristics amount to a few per cent, thus validating the use of the two-dimensional model when applied to heat exchanger tubes. A comparison with the more usual multicolumn case is also considered.  相似文献

Homogenization techniques are used to upscale from pore to laboratory or field scale viscous and second grade nonNewtonian flow in a porous medium. Nonlinear forms of Darcy's law are obtained and analysed under a series of symmetry properties. The general case of displacement of one of these fluids by another with different properties is considered and a linear stability analysis is performed.  相似文献
