We propose a method that allows one to control spatiotemporal chaos by applying pulses proportional to the system variables and compressing the phase space of strange attractor in nonlinear system. The method is illustrated by the coupled map lattices at different strengths of coupling. Various numerical results are given. The Lorenz model and the antisymmetric cubic map enjoy the same discrete symmetry. A careful study of a one-dimensional bifurcation diagram ob- tained numerically from the Lorenz model reveals that the systerriatics of periodic windows is closely related to that of the cubic map. In addition, we determined the drift of the fundamental frequency and thus proposed a nomenclature for the periodic windows by associating an absolute period to each window, which in turn agrees with the corresponding word made of three letters for most of the observed periods. 相似文献

The interaction between soliton and sinusoidal wave in two weakly coupled long Josephson junctions is studied. Theoretical analysis reveals that the soliton may be embedded in Melnikov chaotic attractors and the Fiske-step-modes are implied in the boundedness condition of the system. Comparison between the chaotic soliton oscillators and synchronized soliton oscillators shows that the former possesses greater maximal velocity and energy. 相似文献

In this paper, the axisymmetric dynamic behavior and snap-through buckling of thin elastic shallow spherical shells under harmonic excitation is investigated. Based on Marguerre kinematical assumptions, the governing partial differential equations of motion for a pre-loaded cap are presented in the form of a compatibility equation and a transverse motion equation. The continuous model is reduced to a finite degree of freedom system using the Galerkin method and a Fourier-Bessel approach. Results show that pre-loaded shells may exhibit co-existing stable equilibrium states and that with the application of sufficiently large dynamic loads the structure escapes from the well corresponding to pre-buckling configurations to another. This escape load may be much lower than the corresponding quasi-static buckling load. Indeed, complex resonances can occur until the system snaps-through, often signalling the loss of stability. As parameters are slowly varied, steady state instabilities may occur; these can include jumps to resonance, subharmonic period-doubling bifurcations, cascades to chaos, etc. Moreover a sudden pulse of excitation may lead to a transient failure of the system. In this paper, we examine how spherical caps under harmonic loading may be assessed in an engineering context, with a view to design against steady state instabilities as well as the various modes of transient failure. Steady state and transient stability boundaries are presented in which special attention is devoted to the determination of the critical load conditions. From this theoretical analysis, dynamic buckling criteria can be properly established which may constitute a consistent and rational basis for design of these shell structures under harmonic loading. 相似文献

In this paper, the measure m0 of the chaotic orbits in phase space for standard map is studied. As the nonlinearity parameter k→0, the contribution to chaotic measure m0(k) is mainly from the stochastic layers near separatrices of resonance regions. As k→∞, the contribution to non-chaotic measure (1 - m0(k)) is mainly from the accelerator modes. The behaviour of m0(k) in these regions is studied analytically and numerically. For medial k value, the chaotic orbit forms a fat fractal, its boundary is a typical fractal with dimension Db = 2-β. The behaviour of m0(k) and Db(k) is studied numerically. 相似文献
