Single crystals of l-valine cadmium chloride monohydrate (LVCC), a novel semiorganic nonlinear optical material were synthesized and grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method at room temperature. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern and FT IR spectrum analysis confirmed the formation of the new crystal. LVCC has good optical transmission in the entire visible region, which is an essential requirement for a nonlinear crystal. The thermal studies reveal that the material has good thermal stability. The LVCC crystal was characterized by energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The optical second harmonic generation conversion efficiency of LVCC was determined using Kurtz powder technique.  相似文献

Synthesis of semiorganic material, triphenylphosphine oxide cadmium iodide (TPPOCdI), is reported for the first time. Employing the temperature reduction method, a crystal of size 16×7×6 mm3 was grown from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solution. Three dimensional crystal structure of the grown crystal was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction study. The complex crystallizes in the chiral orthorhombic space group P212121. FTIR study was carried out in order to confirm the presence of the functional groups. UV-vis-NIR spectral studies show that the crystal is transparent in the wavelength range of 290-1100 nm. The microhardness test was carried out, and the load hardness was measured. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses reveal the thermal stability of the crystal. Second harmonic generation efficiency of the powdered TPPOCdI, tested using Nd: YAG laser, is ∼0.65 times that of potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate.  相似文献

Reinvestigation of the growth of thiosemicarbazide potassium chloride crystal (1) (Chandrasekaran et al. [1]) and thiosemicarbazide lithium chloride crystal (2) (Maadeswaran et al. [2]), unambiguously confirms that compounds 1 and 2 are pure thiosemicarbazide and do not contain any alkali metal or chloride ions. In this paper we demonstrate the use of classical halide test, flame test, as well as infrared (IR) spectra for correct product characterization.  相似文献

It is argued that the nonlinear optical single crystal ‘l-asparagine cadmium chloride monohydrate’ grown by the slow evaporation solution growth technique by Masilamani et al. (Optik, 123 (2012) 1304-1306) is actually the well-known l-asparagine monohydrate crystal.  相似文献

Good quality single crystals of pure and metal ion (Ni2+) doped bis-thiourea zinc chloride (BTZC) possessing excellent nonlinear optical properties have been grown from aqueous solution by the slow solvent evaporation technique. The lattice parameters of the grown crystals are determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The well defined sharp peaks in the powder X-ray diffraction pattern reveals the crystalline perfection and the EDAX spectrum confirms the presence of dopant in the lattice of the parent crystal. The DRS UV-visible spectral study reveals improved transparency for the doped crystal, ascertaining the inclusion of metal ion in the lattice. The optical band gap of the pure and doped crystals was calculated to be 4.8 and 5.2 eV respectively from the UV transmission spectrum. The vickers hardness test brings forth higher hardness value for Ni2+doped BTZC as compared to pure BTZC crystal. The dielectric measurement exhibits very low dielectric constant and dielectric loss at higher frequencies for both the pure and Ni2+doped BTZC. The existence of second harmonic generation signals in the crystal also has been confirmed by performing the Kurtz powder test.  相似文献

Semiorganic nonlinear optical material of dichloro(beta-alanine)cadmium(II) (DCBAC) have been synthesized and single crystals were grown by solvent evaporation method at room temperature. The lattice parameters of the grown crystals are determined by single crystal XRD. The modes of vibration of different molecular groups present in the sample were identified by the FTIR spectral analysis. Thermal stability of the crystal was investigated using thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The dielectric constants of the crystal were studied as a function of frequency and the results are discussed. The grown crystals are subjected to microhardness studies and the variation of the microhardness with the applied load is studied. The optical transmission spectra and second harmonic generation (SHG) were investigated to study its linear and nonlinear optical properties. The nonlinear optical (NLO) property of the crystal was confirmed by powder second harmonic generation (SHG) test. SHG efficiency is comparable to that of KDP.  相似文献

One of the novel benzylidene aniline derivatives, 4-bromo-4′-hydroxybenzylidene aniline (BHBA) was synthesized and single crystal of BHBA was grown from solution following slow evaporation method at room temperature. Unit cell parameters of the grown crystal were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Functional groups of BHBA were identified from Fourier transform infrared spectral study. UV–vis-NIR analysis of BHBA showed that the crystal is transparent between wavelengths 400 and 1100 nm. Thermal stability of the title compound was examined by thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric studies. Fluorescence spectrum of the grown crystal recorded using spectrofluorometer shows emission peak at 450 nm. The second harmonic generation efficiency of BHBA estimated by Nd:YAG pulsed laser employing the Kurtz powder technique is ∼1.3 times that of potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate. Microhardness studies reveal that BHBA possesses high Vickers hardness value. The dielectric measurements were carried out at different temperatures and frequencies and the results are discussed.  相似文献

A new semiorganic compound, bis(diethylammonium) tetrachloromercurate(II) was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at ambient temperature from its aqueous solution. The crystal system and the cell parameters have been identified from the powder X-ray diffraction pattern. The UV–visible absorption of the compound shows absorption at 246 nm and there is absorption observed in the entire visible region indicates that the compound can be used as a nonlinear optical material. The UV–visible transmittance spectrum of grown crystal shows a lower cut-off wavelength at 275 nm and it was found that the crystal is suitable for optoelectronic applications. Thermal studies were carried out to find out the thermal stability and confirm the stoichiometric ratio of the compound. The thermal anomalies in DSC study indicate the occurrence of first order transition in the compound at low temperatures. The FTIR spectrum of the compound characterizes various functional groups. The various kinds of protons and carbons were assigned through NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopic techniques. The SHG efficiency of the compound was studied by Kurtz-Perry power technique and observed that it has SHG efficiency 1.5 times greater than that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the compound decreases with increase in frequency.  相似文献

Good transparent bulk single crystals of pure l-alanine (LA) and cobalt doped LA crystals have been synthesized and successfully grown by slow-cooling method from their aqueous solutions. The concentration of metal dopants in the mother solution with 0.5 mol% for cobalt was carried out individually and crystals were obtained with well defined morphology. The as grown metal doped and pure single crystals were characterized by single crystal XRD studies which confirm that the incorporation of metallic dopants has not changed the basic structure of the parent crystal. The absorption of these crystals was analyzed and the result confirms that they possess low absorption in the range 230–1100 nm. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was carried out to investigate the molecular vibrations of these crystals and to confirm the incorporation of the dopants. The thermal properties have been studied by TGA/DTA curves. The EDAX measurement and surface morphology were studied for pure and metal doped LA crystals. The second harmonic generation (SHG) signals were observed using Nd: YAG laser with fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm in pure and metal doped crystals. The laser damage threshold was measured for pure and metal doped LA crystals and also tested by using a Q-switched Nd: YAG laser showed enhanced LDT value for metal (Co2+) doped LA crystal compared to pure LA crystal due to the metallic substitutions thus proving their useful candidature for nonlinear optical applications.  相似文献

The purity of the crystals was increased by the method of recrystallization. The grown crystals were analyzed by the single crystal X-ray diffraction pattern which proved that LASCT belongs to monoclinic crystal system. The presence of various functional groups and modes of vibrations were identified by FTIR spectroscopy. The optical absorption study confirms the suitability of the crystal for device applications. The thermal strength and the decomposition of the grown crystals were studied using TG/DTA analyses. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss measurements of the grown crystals at different frequencies of the applied field were measured and reported. The mechanical strength of the crystal is estimated by Vicker's hardness test. The nonlinear optical properties of the grown crystals were confirmed by second harmonic generation test which shows the suitability of NLO applications.  相似文献

Pure (undoped) and RbCl-doped LAHC single crystals were grown successfully by the solution method with the slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The grown crystals were colourless and transparent. The solubility of the grown samples were found out at various temperatures. The lattice parameters of the grown crystals were determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique and the diffracting planes were indentified by recording the powder X-ray diffraction pattern. UV-visible transmittance studies were carried out for the grown samples. Chemical analysis and atomic absorption studies indicate the presence of rubidium in the doped LAHC crystals. Nonlinear optical studies reveal that the SHG efficiency increases when the LAHC crystal is doped with rubidium chloride (RbCl). From microhardness studies, it is observed that the RbCl-doped LAHC crystal is harder than the pure sample. It is observed that the dielectric properties of the LAHC crystal are altered when it is doped with rubidium chloride.  相似文献
