In this work, a model for analyzing the gain characteristics of heavily Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped compact fiber amplifier is presented. Four-level rate equations and finite-difference beam propagation method are applied to simulate the optical field evolution along the active fiber. Based on this model, the influences of ion concentration, fiber length and pump power on the gain characteristics of Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped phosphate glass fiber amplifiers are theoretically investigated. Numerical results show that for a fiber length of 3.6 cm the internal gain can reach 27.2 dB with N Er = 2.6 × 1026 ions/m3 and N Yb = 1.2 × 1027 ions/m3 when pumped with 224 mW at 980 nm. The gain per centimeter is 7.56 dB/cm. The results can provide useful information to optimize the gain performance of these compact fiber amplifiers.  相似文献

We prepared Er3+ doped and Er3+/Yb3+ codoped Sb2O4 nanocrystals by the sol-gel method. The Raman, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and photoluminescence spectra of the samples were studied. The phonon energy of the Sb2O4 nanocrystals is very low (the maximum value being 461 cm−1). The upconversion (UC) red emission of the Er3+/Yb3+ codoped sample is very strong at 975 nm laser diode excitation. The Sb2O4 nanocrystals will be a promising luminous material.  相似文献

Yb3+:Er3+co-doped oxy-fluoride ceramics glass has been prepared. The mechanism of up-conversion emissions about Er3+was discussed, and the temperature properties of green up-conversion fluorescence between 303 and 823 K were investigated. The results show that the sensitivity of this sample reaches its maximum value, about 0.0047 K 1,when the temperature is 383 K,indicating that this kind of sample can be used as high temperature and high sensitivity optical temperature sensor.  相似文献

Using the combustion synthesis, CaYAl3O7:Er3+ phosphor powders co-doped with Yb3+ have been prepared at low temperatures (550 °C) in a few minutes. Formation of the compound was confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction. Near-infrared to visible upconversion fluorescence emission in the Er3+ doped CaYAl3O7 phosphor powder has been observed. The effect of co-doping with triply ionized ytterbium in the CaYAl3O7:Er3+ phosphor has been studied and the process involved is discussed.  相似文献

The Er^3+/Yb^3+ co-doped TeO2-Nb2O5-Li2O glass is prepared by conventional melting method, and its upconversion spectra are measured. The intense green upconversion luminescence upon excitation with a 976 nm laser diode is observed with the naked eyes. The dependence of luminescence intensity on the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is discussed in detail, and the relationship between the ratio of green luminescence intensity to red luminescence intensity and the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is also studied, The luminescence intensity increases with the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ increasing. The ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ plays a more important role than the concentration of Er^3+ in determining the upconversion luminescence intensity. The ratio of green luminescence intensity to red luminescence intensity reaches a maximum when ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is 3. Thus the glass could be one of the potential candidates for LD pumping solid-state lasers.  相似文献

Transparent Tm^3+/Er^3+/yb^3+ co-doped oxyfluorogermanate glass ceramics containing BaF2 nanocrystals are prepared. Under excitation of a 980-nm laser diode (LD), compared with the glass before heat treatment, the Tm^3+/Er^3+/yb^3+ co-doped oxyfluorogermanate glass ceramics can emit intense blue, green and red up-conversion luminescence and Stark- split peaks; X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) results show that BaF2 nanocrystals with an average diameter of 20 nm are precipitated from the glass matrix. Stark splitting of the up-conversion luminescence peaks in the glass ceramics indicates that Tm^3+, Er^3+ and (or) Yb^3+ ions are incorporated into the BaF2 nanocrystals. The up-conversion luminescence intensities of Tm^3+, Er^3+ and the splitting degree of luminescence peaks in the glass ceramics increase significantly with the increase of heat treat temperature and heat treat time extension. In addition, the possible energy transfer process between rare earth ions and the up-conversion luminescence mechanism are also proposed.  相似文献

We have prepared Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped transparent phosphate glass ceramics by the high-temperature melting technique, and demonstrated the influence of energy acceptors Ce3+ ions on the up-conversion and 1.54 μm emission properties of Er3+. The energy transfer mechanism is discussed based on the energy matching and the energy level structure. The phonon-assisted energy transfer between Er3+ and Ce3+ favors population feeding from the 4I11/2 to the 4I13/2 level, and therefore drastically decreases the up-conversion emission intensity of Er3+. Meanwhile, 1.54 μm fluorescence enhances greatly with the introduction of Ce3+ ions at the proper concentration.  相似文献

The Yb3+/Tm3+ co-doped GdF3 and NaGdF4 samples were synthesized through a combination method of a co-precipitation and an argon atmosphere annealing procedures. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that the Yb3+/Tm3+ co-doped GdF3 sample crystallized well and was orthorhombic phase, and the Yb3+/Tm3+ co-doped NaGdF4 sample was hexagonal phase. With a 980-nm semiconductor continuous wave laser diode as the excitation source, the up-conversion emission spectra of the two samples in the wavelength range of 240-510 nm were recorded. In the up-conversion emissions of the samples, Yb3+ transferred energies to Tm3+ resulting in their ultraviolet, violet, and blue up-conversion emissions. And, Tm3+ simultaneously transferred energies to Gd3+, which finally resulted in ultraviolet up-conversion emissions of Gd3+. The study on the excitation power dependence of up-conversion fluorescence intensity indicated that there were multi-photon (three-, four-, five-, and six-) processes in the up-conversion emissions of the samples. And the up-conversion emissions of Gd3+ and Tm3+ in the Yb3+/Tm3+ co-doped GdF3 and NaGdF4 samples were compared studied, too.  相似文献

The B2O3 component was introduced into Er3+/Ce3+ co-doped TeO2-ZnO-Na2O-Nb2O5 glass to improve energy transfer rate of Er3+:4I11/2→Ce3+:2F5/2 phonon-assisted cross-relaxation process. With the 6 mol% substitution of B2O3 for TeO2, the energy transfer rate increased from 1300 to 1831 s−1 and the fluorescence intensity increased by about 13.4%. However, the more B2O3 substitution in the same glass system reduced the quantum efficiency of Er3+:4I13/24I15/2 transition due to the higher OH group concentration. The results show that an appropriate amount of B2O3 component can be used to improve the phonon-assisted energy transfer rate and enhance 1.53 μm fluorescence emission by increasing the phonon energy of host glass. The effect of B2O3 on the energy transfer process, the lifetimes of the 4I11/2 and 4I13/2 levels, and the upconversion emission have also been investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, the core-shell structured SiO2@YVO4:Yb3+,Er3+ microspheres have been successfully prepared via a facile sol-gel process followed by a heat treatment. X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy disperse X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectra were used to characterize the samples. The results reveal that the SiO2 spheres have been successfully coated by YVO4:Yb3+,Er3+ phosphors to form core-shell structures and the size of obtained microspheres has a uniform distribution. Additionally, the samples exhibit bright green luminescence under the excitation of a 980 nm laser diode. The photoluminescence intensity increases with the number of coatings. These core-shell structured SiO2@YVO4:Yb3+,Er3+ microspheres may have great potential in the fields of infrared detection and display devices.  相似文献

Tm3+/Er3+/Yb3+ tri-doped CaF2 phosphors were synthesized using a hydrothermal method. The phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and up-conversion (UC) emission spectra. After annealing, the phosphors emitted white light under a 980 nm continuous wave diode laser (CW LD 2 W) excitation. As the excitation power density changed in the range of 20-260 W/cm2, the chromaticity coordinates of the UC light of the phosphor Ca0.885Tm0.005Er0.01Yb0.1F2 fell well in the white region of the 1931 CIE diagram. For the proportion of red, green and blue (RGB) in white light is strict, key factors for achieving UC white light, such as host materials, rare earth ions doping concentrations, annealing temperatures, as well as the excitation power densities, were investigated and discussed.  相似文献

The preparation and upconversion luminescence properties of the Yb3+ and Tb3+ co-doped glass ceramics containing SrF2 nanocrystals were investigated. The formation of SrF2 nanocrystals was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Both microstructural and spectral analysis indicated that the Yb3+ and Tb3+ ions were enriched in the precipitated SrF2 nanocrystals, which provide much lower phonon vibration energy than the glass matrix. Due to the efficient cooperative sensitization from Yb3+ to Tb3+ and the relatively low maximum phonon energy of SrF2 nanocrystals, the Yb3+ and Tb3+ co-doped glass ceramics exhibited intense upconversion luminescence, including ultraviolet emission at 382 nm.  相似文献

Er3+ doped and Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped Y4Al2O9 phosphors are prepared by the sol-gel method. The effect of dopant concentration on the structure and up-conversion properties is investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence, respectively. XRD pattern indicates that the sample structure belongs to monoclinic. Under 980 nm excitation, the green and red up-conversion emissions are observed and the emission intensities depended on the Yb3+ ion concentration. The green up-conversion emissions decrease with the increase of Yb3+ concentration, while red emission increases as Yb3+ concentration increases from 0 to 8 at% and then decreases at high Yb3+ concentration. The mechanisms of the up-conversion emissions are discussed and results shows that in Er3+ and Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped system, cross-relaxation (CR) and energy transfer (ET) processes play an important role for the green and red up-conversion emissions.  相似文献

Bright green (at 525 and 550 nm) and red (at 660 nm) luminescence in Er:Yb:La3Ga5.5Ta0.5O14 (LGT) powder synthesized by solid state reaction was obtained by pumping at 936 nm. Yb3+-Er3+ energy transfer processes accounting for population of the 2H211/2, 4S3/2 and 4F9/2 Er3+ levels are discussed. The dependence of ratio between the intensities of the green and red luminescence on pump intensity is analyzed. The rather high quantum efficiency (58%) of the (4S3/2, 2H211/2) Er3+ emitting level recommends LGT doped with erbium and ytterbium for upconversion applications.  相似文献

Yb3+:Er3+:Tm3+ co-doped borosilicate glasses are prepared.Their strong up-conversion photoluminescence spectra in a range from ultra-violet to near-infrared,which are excited by a 978-nm laser diode, are measured, and the mechanisms of energy transfer among Yb3+,Er3+ and Tm3+ ions are discussed. The results show that there is an unexpected wavelength at 900-nm emission from Yb3+ Stark splitting levels to pump Tm3+ ions and there exists an optimum pump power. The concentration of the Tm3+ dopant gives rise to a prominent effect on the intensity of visible and near-infrared emissions for the Yb3+:Er3+:Tm3+ co-doped borosilicate glasses.  相似文献

The green up-conversion fluorescence of Er3+ ions doped in an nonlinear optical ZnO-Nb2O5-TeO2 glass was observed by using 800 nm excitation from a regenerative femtosecond (fs) Ti:Sapphire laser. The detailed analysis on two fluorescence lines at 526 nm (2H11/2-4I15/2) and 548 nm (4S3/2-4I15/2) revealed the fs laser heating of the multi-component TeO2-based glass, which was possibly due to its nonlinear absorption of the host glass via the imaginary part of the third-order optical susceptibility (χ(3)). The result was compared with that of a Er3+-doped aluminosilicate glass under the same irradiation condition. When the fs laser was irradiated to the multicomponent TeO2-based glass in the power density of 150 TW/cm2, the laser spot was heated up to ∼520 K, which however was still less than the glass transition temperature (Tg=688 K). This technique provides a useful sensing method of laser spot temperature even inside transparent materials.  相似文献

Novel Ba2ErF7 and Yb3+-doped Ba2ErF7 powders were synthesized by a coprecipitation method. In Ba2ErF7 sample, abundant upconverted emission bands from violet to infrared region are observed under 980 nm excitation, whereas only green and red emissions are observed under 812 nm excitation. Under the two excitations, the luminescence decay curves of the green and red emissions are measured and the quenching behaviors of Yb3+ doping are also explored. It is found that a suitable Yb3+ concentration can efficiently enhance the intensity ratio of the blue and violet emissions to the green and red ones, which may be due to the competition between the energy transfer process from Er3+ to Yb3+ and the sensitizing process from Yb3+ to Er3+ in Ba2ErF7:Yb3+. This indicates that the Yb3+-doped Ba2ErF7 might be a good candidate for blue and violet upconversion phosphor.  相似文献

A transparent Er3+–Tm3+–Yb3+ tri-doped oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing LiYF4 nanocrystals were prepared. Under 980 nm laser diode (LD) pumping, intensive red, green and blue upconversion (UC) was obtained. The blue, green, and red UC radiations correspond to the transitions 1G43H6 of Tm3+, 2H11/2/4S3/24I15/2, and 4F9/24I15/2 of Er3+ ions, respectively. This is similar to that in Tm3+–Yb3+ and/or Er3+–Yb3+ co-doped glass ceramics. However, the blue UC radiations of the Er3+–Yb3+ co-doped glass ceramics is two-photon process due to cooperative energy transfer. The UC mechanisms were proposed based on spectral, kinetic, and pump power dependence analyses.  相似文献

Ytterbium-doped nano-crystalline powders of yttrium aluminium garnet Y3Al5O12 (Yb3+-doped YAG) have been prepared by a modified Pechini method. The morphology of the annealed materials was observed using SEM images. The structure and the average crystalline grain sizes have been determined by X-ray powder diffraction measurements. An increase in elongated spherical crystalline grain sizes from 20 to 50 nm has been observed with annealing temperature increasing from 800 to 1200 °C. The Yb3+ concentration dependence of both luminescence spectra and lifetimes has been investigated and compared with those reported for the Yb3+-doped YAG bulk single crystals. Decays of Yb3+ 2F5/2 excited state, much longer in nano-crystalline powders than in bulk single crystals, are discussed in terms of refractive index dependence.  相似文献

The Ce3+ ion was introduced into Er3+ doped TeO2-GeO2-Nb2O5-Li2O (TGNL) glass to improve the 1.5 μm fluorescence characteristics. As increasing of Ce3+ concentration, the lifetime of Er3+:4I11/2 level is shortened form 360 to 225 μs, while the Er3+:4I13/2 level remains unchanged. Accordingly, the upconversion fluorescence (blue, green and red) was quenched. Improved 1.5 μm emission is obtained and the reason is ascribed to the increase of nonradiative rate between the 4I11/2 and 4I13/2 level of the Er3+ ions.  相似文献
