基于Maxwell-Bloch方程和速率方程相结合的模型,模拟包括四能级增益介质光子晶体激光器的光学特性.根据FDTD法的基本原理,给出方程的Yee氏离散方程.通过计算电场的时域特性,模拟光子晶体激光器的频谱特性、阈值特性、动力学演化等过程,模拟结果和理论结论一致,检验了该模型的有效性.  相似文献

采用有限时域差分(FDTD)法和传输矩阵法(TMM)计算了一维光子晶体微腔中模式的阈值和模场的空间分布,并用局域化长度和模面积描述了其空间分布特性.着重研究了模场的空间分布对阈值特性的影响.模拟结果显示,激光器的阈值依赖于模式的空间分布,局域化长度和模面积最小的模式具有最低阈值.通过调节包括缺陷宽度、光学厚度比、折射率比等介质参量,可以有效地调节模式的局域化长度和模面积,从而降低激光器的阈值.  相似文献

A one-to-two splitter for self-collimated beams in photonic crystal (PC) is designed by inserting one row of line defects. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to simulate the light propagation process. Our systematical studies show that the splitting ratio is a function of the airholes size of the line defect radius, and stays fairly constant as a function of frequency. Furthermore, it is shown the numerical results can be analyzed by coupled-mode theory.  相似文献

An analytic approach to the theory of the optical defect modes in photonic liquid crystals in the case of an active defect layer is developed. The analytic study is facilitated by the choice of the problem parameters related to the dielectric properties of the studied structures. The chosen models allow eliminating polarization mixing at the external surfaces of the studied structures. The dispersion equations determining the relation of the defect mode (DM) frequency to the dielectric characteristics of an isotropic, birefringent and absorbing (amplifying) defect layer and its thickness are obtained. Analytic expressions for the transmission and reflection coefficients of the defect mode structure (DMS) (photonic liquid crystal-active defect layer-photonic liquid crystal) are presented and analyzed. The effect of anomalously strong light absorption at the defect mode frequency for an absorbing defect layer is discussed. It is shown that in a distributed feed-back lasing at the DMS with an amplifying defect layer, adjusting the lasing frequency to the DM frequency results in a significant decrease in the lasing threshold and the threshold gain decreases as the defect layer thickness increases. It is found that, generally speaking, the layer birefringence and dielectric jumps at the interfaces of the defect layer and photonic liquid crystal reduce the DM lifetime in comparison with the DMS with an isotropic defect layer without dielectric jumps at the interfaces. Correspondingly, generally speaking, the effect of anomalously strong light absorption at the defect mode frequency and the decrease in the lasing threshold are not so pronounced as in the case of the DMS with an isotropic defect layer without dielectric jumps at the interfaces. The case of a DMS with a low defect layer birefringence and sufficiently large dielectric jumps are studied in detail. The options of effectively influencing the DM parameters by changing the defect layer dielectric properties, and the birefringence in particular, are discussed.  相似文献

针对染料随机激光器特性与应用研究,讨论了无序介质中荧光粒子和额外散射粒子的发光性质、浓度变化以及颗粒尺寸与随机激光发射阈值之间的关系。采用时域有限差分法直接求解Maxwell方程组及速率方程组的方法,模拟仿真出了相应的发射谱线及浓度变化与激光发射阈值的关系曲线。所设计的样品中Rh6G-SiO2的质量分数为4%,其阈值大小为8.5 J/pulse时,额外微小散射体TiO2的加入对该介质随机激光发射产生的影响很小,可忽略不计。在此基础上,通过进一步模拟分析了处于不同条件和背景下随机激光的阈值特性。  相似文献

In this paper, we experimentally investigate a single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) S-band erbiumdoped fiber (EDF) laser with dualring scheme using a S-band fiber Bragg grating (FBG) inside the gain cavity to restrict the lasing mode. The proposed laser is constructed by two-ring cavities serving as the mode filters. The FBG inside the proposed laser scheme can retrieve the SLM operation. Moreover, the output performance of the proposed fiber laser is also analyzed and discussed.  相似文献

The mode competition of the bichromatic laser emission in two-dimensional (2D) random medium was studied. Based on the time-dependent theory, a model for dual-wavelength random laser was established. The Maxwell equations and rate equations were combined and solved by using the finite different time domain (FDTD) method. Results show that the emission intensity of both wavelength ranges increases simultaneously with the increasing of the surface-filling fraction. The mode dominance of the bichromatic emission can be switched by changing the scatterer radius. The emission intensity of the longer wavelength increases when enlarging the excitation area. The controllability of these lasing modes may provide a potential application of optical switches.  相似文献

Recent developments in parity‐time (PT) symmetric systems have ushered in unique photonic devices with enhanced functionalities. While single‐mode laser emission has been demonstrated in such systems, the current designs face severe challenges in applications, either due to their stringent requirement on fabrication precision or nonscalability to larger devices. Here, we demonstrate a general mechanism to achieve single‐mode lasing in coupled cavities, which relies on external mode coupling and overcomes these drawbacks. We find significant gain enhancement for selected modes by external coupling, and our experiments have confirmed the resulting single‐mode laser emission in size‐mismatched photonic molecules (PMs), when only one constituent cavity is pumped. This behavior persists for a wide range of pump power, from transparent threshold to gain saturation, and it is highly tolerant of fabrication imprecisions. In addition, the output intensity of such single‐mode lasers also displays enhancement when compared with the same PMs under uniformly pumping. We believe our results will both advance the understanding of different coupling scenarios in coupled cavities and improve the characteristics of onchip laser sources for practical applications.  相似文献

Two novel multiwavelength Raman fiber lasers using a ring cavity and a linear cavity are proposed and demonstrated experimentally. Both laser configurations include a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating used in the reflection mode. By adjusting the polarization controller (PC) in the cavities, up to ten stable lasing wavelengths with 0.8 nm spacing and equalized peak power are achieved at room temperature. It is observed that the output spectrum depends upon which port of the grating is connected to the cavity. These two fiber ring lasers offer advantages such as, stable room temperature operation, simple structure, low loss, multiwavelength lasing lines with moderate output power. 为了提高激光稳定性和激光加工质量,实验测量了大功率横流CO2激光横模,并理论分析了横模形成机理。针对大功率横流CO2激光器管板式电极结构,由麦克斯韦方程给出电场的横向分布,并通过数值计算得到了激光强度的横向分布。实验结果与数值模拟得到的激光能量分布基本一致。结果表明,在给定放电电压条件下,电极结构和气体流动速率决定了激光横模峰值大小,激光峰值的横向位置取决于气体流动的速率。  相似文献

设计了一种缺陷模迁移光子晶体微腔全光开关. 两条二维三角晶格空气孔光子晶体波导由一个光子晶体微腔连接, 在微腔的点缺陷中填充掺有少量偶氮聚合物的苯乙炔类液晶. 通过调节控制光的偏振态, 使偶氮聚合物发生顺-反异构化反应, 带动液晶分子重新取向, 从而改变光子晶体微腔的谐振波长, 进而实现光的通过与截止. 运用时域有限差分法和平面波展开法分析 了二维光控液晶光子晶体微腔全光开关的光学特性. 数值计算结果表明: 对于1.55 μ通信波段通过外界偏振光控制所填充的向列相液晶 的折射率可以实现对光波的导通与截止. 分析结果显示, 此开关具有阈值低, 消光比较大, 体积小等优点. 关键词: 二维光子晶体微腔 波导 时域有限差分(FDTD) 液晶  相似文献

通过对二维正方晶格光子晶体线缺陷模色散曲线慢光特性的研究, 利用外电场对液晶分子取向的调控作用, 在填充液晶的正方晶格波导的马赫-曾德尔干涉仪结构中实现了开关和强度调制等功能. 利用平面波展开法计算了光子晶体波导的线缺陷模, 分析了液晶折射率的变化对缺陷模的影响. 计算表明, 液晶折射率仅改变了0.1, 线缺陷模有效折射率改变达0.168, 该特性可以更为有效地实现对相位的控制, 进而实现高消光比开关和强度调制功能, 这种高效的相位调节器件在集成光系统中将有很好的应用前景.  相似文献

The transmission characteristics of a 2-dimensional (2D) square lattice photonic crystal waveguide (PCW) with an additional perpendicular line defect are investigated by the plane wave expansion method (PWM) and the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. From simulation results and theoretical analysis, it is found that changing the refractive index of the dielectric columns in the additional line defect can effectively adjust the light transmission through the PCW. The working mechanism can be boiled down to either the excitation of a single defect mode or the contra-directional coupling of the two defect modes. And this mechanism can be used to design other tunable optical devices.  相似文献

研究了光子晶体对随机激光器的输出特性的调控,并分析了光子晶体的晶粒尺寸和排列结构等对调控作用的影响.对于同一随机介质而言,上下表面用同种材料不同晶粒尺寸的光子晶体覆盖,结果显示:晶粒尺寸合适的光子晶体会使光在系统中来回振荡从而得到很好的放大,使系统中的光与随机增益介质的相互作用加强,激光阈值降低;同时还对激光模式有较强的调制能力,能在一定程度上抑制自发辐射,使之向所需要的频率内辐射.但如果光子晶体的晶粒尺寸与随机增益介质结构匹配不当,则光子晶体对激光模式调制能力较弱,光场能量不能有效地被局域在系统中,系统 关键词: 有限时域差分法 光子晶体 随机激光 辐射特性  相似文献

A compact zirconium-erbium doped fiber (Zr-EDF) based multiwavelength fiber laser (MWFL) with stable output comb is proposed and demonstrated. The MWFL utilizes a 3 m long Zr-EDF with an erbium concentration of 3000 ppm and pumped by a 1480 nm laser diode (LD) as the active gain medium. A fiber based multimode polarization controller (PC) is used to precisely control the polarization states of the oscillating modes in the MWFL, distributing the total energy of the system among the lasing wavelengths in order to overcome the mode-suppression and mode-competition that arises from homogenous line broadening. The MWFL is capable of generating up to four lasing wavelengths with average peak powers of 0.08 dBm in the extended L-band of 1600 nm. The lasing wavelengths have a 3-dB linewidth of 0.1 and an extinction ratio of 40 dB as well as highly stable, with minimal fluctuations of less than 0.6 dB observed in the peak powers of the lasing wavelengths over a period of 1 h. The proposed system allows for the realization of a compact, cost-effective and stable erbium based MWFL capable of operating at room temperature.  相似文献

We demonstrate that very few (2-4) quantum dots as a gain medium are sufficient to realize a photonic-crystal laser based on a high-quality nanocavity. Photon correlation measurements show a transition from a thermal to a coherent light state proving that lasing action occurs at ultralow thresholds. Observation of lasing is unexpected since the cavity mode is in general not resonant with the discrete quantum dot states and emission at those frequencies is suppressed. In this situation, the quasicontinuous quantum dot states become crucial since they provide an energy-transfer channel into the lasing mode, effectively leading to a self-tuned resonance for the gain medium.  相似文献

用有限元法计算太赫兹量子级联激光器激光模式的阈值增益.结果表明:接触层厚度和掺杂浓度对阈值增益的影响远远大于波导宽度和激射波长;接触层厚度较小(大)和掺杂浓度较低(高)时,TM1(TM0)模的阈值增益较小.在此基础上,用矢量衍射理论分析岀射光束的远场特性,得到光束的远场光斑基本是椭圆;x方向的远场散射角随波导宽度或激射波长的增加分别线性减小或增加,尽管对应的接触层厚度和掺杂浓度不同,但TM0和TM1x方向的远场散射角相同;另外,还得到y方向远场散射角不受波导宽度或少受激射波长的影响.在阈值增益和光束质量方面,TM1模都优于TM0模.  相似文献

An electrically driven, single-longitudinal-mode GaAs based photonic crystal (PC) ridge waveguide (RWG) laser emitting at around 850 nm is demonstrated. The single-longitudinal-mode lasing characteristic is achieved by introducing the PC to the RWG laser. The triangle PC is etched on both sides of the ridge by photolithography and inductive coupled plasma (ICP) etching. The lasing spectra of the RWG lasers with and without the PC are studied, and the result shows that the PC purifies the longitudinal mode. The power per facet versus current and current-voltage characteristics have also been studied and compared.  相似文献

采用麦克斯韦方程和速率方程相结合的模型和时域有限差分法,利用引入的有效增益分布因子概念研究了光子晶体中本征模的阈值特性。增益介质的大小以及在光子晶体中的位置直接影响光子晶体带边激光器的输出特性;有效增益分布因子描述了光子晶体中增益介质的空间分布特性。结果显示,带边本征模的激射阈值依赖于有效增益分布因子。不同的本征模具有不同的有效增益分布因子,那些有效增益分布因子较大的模式具有较低的阈值。通过调整增益介质的位置和长度,可以提高有效增益分布因子的值,从而降低激光器的阈值,这对于实现激光器的低阈值运行有指导作用。  相似文献
