We address the existence,stability and propagation dynamics of solitons supported by large-scale defects surrounded by the harmonic photonic lattices imprinted in the defocusing saturable nonlinear medium.Several families of soliton solutions,including flat-topped,dipole-like,and multipole-like solitons,can be supported by the defected lattices with different heights of defects.The width of existence domain of solitons is determined solely by the saturable parameter.The existence domains of various types of solitons can be shifted by the variations of defect size,lattice depth and soliton order.Solitons in the model are stable in a wide parameter window,provided that the propagation constant exceeds a critical value,which is in sharp contrast to the case where the soliton trains is supported by periodic lattices imprinted in defocusing saturable nonlinear medium.We also find stable solitons in the semi-infinite gap which rarely occur in the defocusing media. 相似文献

We analyse surface solitons at the interface between a
one-dimensional photonic superlattice and a uniform medium with weak
nonlocal nonlinearity. We demonstrate that in deep lattices there
exist three kinds of surface solitons when the propagation constant
exceeds a critical value, including two on-site solitons and one
off-site soliton. These three kinds of surface solitons have unique
dynamical properties. If the relative depth of the superlattice is low,
there is only one kind of off-site soliton; however, the solitons of
this kind can propagate stably, unlike their deep superlattice
counterparts. Dipole surface solitons are also investigated, and the

This paper studies numerically the dark incoherent spatial solitons
propagating in logarithmically saturable nonlinear media by using
a coherent density approach and a split-step Fourier approach for the
first time. Under odd and even initial conditions, a soliton triplet
and a doublet are obtained respectively for given parameters.
Simultaneously, coherence properties associated with the soliton
triplet and doublet are discussed. In addition, if the values of the
parameters are properly chosen, five and four splittings from the
input dark incoherent spatial solitons can also form. Lastly, the
grayness of the soliton triplet and that of the doublet are studied,

We investigate the existence and stability of dipole-mode solitons in two-dimensional models of nonlocal media with anisotropic Kerr nonlinearity analytically and numerically. We obtain the approximate solution of such elliptic dipole solitons by using the variational approximation. The dynamics of such dipole-mode solitons is governed by the eccentricity of both the input beam and the nonlocal response function. We also compute the stability of the solitons by direct numerical simulations. The effects of the anisotropy of the nonlocal response function on the propagation of the dipole beam are also discussed in detail. 相似文献

Exact solutions of Gaussian solitons in nonlinear media with a
Gaussian nonlocal response are obtained. Using the variational
approach, we obtain the approximate solutions of such solitons when
the degree of the nonlocality is arbitrary. Specifically, we study
the conditions for Gaussian solitons that propagate in weakly
and highly nonlocal media. We also compare the variational result

We identify elliptic incoherent spatial solitons in isotropic saturable nonlinear media. These solitary states are possible, provided that their correlation function is anisotropic. The propagation dynamics of this new class of solitons are investigated by use of numerical simulations. We find that, during a collision event of two such elliptic solitons, their intensity ellipse rotates, and at the same time their centers of gravity tend to revolve around each other. 相似文献

It is shown that partially incoherent spatial solitons are possible in saturable nonlinear media. This is demonstrated by means of an exact Gaussian solution in the case when the saturable nonlinearity is of the logarithmic type. The conditions necessary to establish these soliton states as well as their associated characteristics are discussed in detail. Pertinent examples are provided to elucidate their behavior further. 相似文献

对非局域非线性介质中的空间暗孤子进行了研究.理论上运用牛顿迭代法求解非局域非线性薛定谔方程,得到了不同传播常数下的非局域空间暗孤子的数值解,发现在任何非局域程度以及任何传播常数条件下,都存在暗孤子的解,而且孤子的束宽与非局域程度存在一定的关系.实验上,在染料溶液中观测到了空间暗孤子在非局域非线性介质中的形成.利用输入功率所引起的非线性效应强度的变化,分析了背景光波形对暗孤子的影响,数值模拟结果与实验结果相符合.

基于相干密度理论,数值地研究了在饱和对数非线性介质中多个部分非相干光空间孤子之间的相互作用. 数值结果表明,在非相干参量较小情况下,非相干光孤子的相互作用与相干光孤子的相互作用规律较类似. 当非相干参量较大时,强的非相干性模糊了孤子之间的相位关系,孤子间的相互作用主要以非相干相互吸引作用为主. 特别是在非相干参量较大而且孤子初始相对相位差为π的情况下,多个部分非相干光孤子可并行传播形成稳定的阵列孤子. 利用多个非相干光孤子的不同相互作用形态写入各种阵列波导,为实现光控制光、导向光提供了一种可能性.

The physical features exhibited by Hermite--Gaussian (HG) beams
propagating in nonlocal nonlinear media with Gaussian-shaped
response are discussed with an approximate variational method. Using
direct numerical simulations, we find that the beam properties in
the normalized system are different with the change of the degree of
nonlocality. It is shown that initial HG profiles break up into
several individual beams with propagation when the degree of
nonlocality $\alpha$ is small. HG beams can propagate stably when $\alpha$ is large enough. 相似文献

Using a variational method, we have investigated the propagation characteristics of a chirped optical pulse in anomalously dispersive media possessing saturating nonlinearity. For the special case of uniform loss less media, the dynamics of the temporal width of the pulse is shown to be equivalent to an oscillator of unit mass which is executing its motion under some effective potential well. The potential is examined and four different types of behavior of the pulse width are noticed. The role of saturation parameter and the initial chirp in determining the propagation characteristics have been examined. It is found that, both high value of chirp and saturation are detrimental to stable pulse propagation. Particularly, the effect of chirp becomes severe with the increase in the value of saturation. We have shown that incorporation of saturation in the nonlinearity leads to the existence of bistable soliton. For the case of a lossy medium, net broadening of width takes place over many cycles of oscillation. The net broadening decreases with the increase in the value of saturation. 相似文献

We investigate the existence and stability of different families of spatial solitons in optical waveguide arrays whose amplitudes obey a disordered distribution. The competition between focusing nonlinearity and linearly disordered refractive index modulation results in the formation of spatial localized nonlinear states. Solitons originating from Anderson modes with few nodes are robust during propagation. While multi-peaked solitons with in-phase neighboring components are completely unstable, multipole-mode solitons whose neighboring components are out-of-phase can propagate stably in wide parameter regions provided that their power exceeds a critical value. Our findings, thus, provide the first example of stable higher-order nonlinear states in disordered systems. 相似文献

Stability of Bragg grating solitons in a cubic-quintic nonlinear medium with dispersive reflectivity

We investigate the existence and stability of Bragg grating solitons in a cubic-quintic medium with dispersive reflectivity. It is found that the model supports two disjoint families of solitons. One family can be viewed as the generalization of the Bragg grating solitons in Kerr nonlinearity with dispersive reflectivity. On the other hand, the quintic nonlinearity is dominant in the other family. Stability regions are identified by means of systematic numerical stability analysis. In the case of the first family, the size of the stability region increases up to moderate values of dispersive reflectivity. However for the second family (i.e. region where quintic nonlinearity dominates), the size of the stability region increases even for strong dispersive reflectivity. For all values of m, there exists a subset of the unstable solitons belonging to the first family for which the instability development leads to deformation and subsequent splitting of the soliton into two moving solitons with different amplitudes and velocities. 相似文献

利用变分法和数值计算方法研究了二维线性和非线性光晶格中二维玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚体系中物质波孤立子的存在及其稳定性. 利用定态变分原理及Vakhitov-Kolokolov判据总结了线性和非线性结合光晶格中几种参数组合下定态定域解的稳定性. 结果表明, 当存在二维非线性光晶格时, 在吸引和排斥相互作用的原子体系中均可以存在稳定的物质波孤立子. 另外, 利用含时变分法研究了线性和非线性光晶格中物质波孤立子随时间的传播特性, 使波包参数对时间的一阶导数等于零, 可以给出稳定状态对应的参数, 结论和定态变分法给出的结果一致. 最后用数值计算方法研究变分结果的正确性, 把变分结果作为初始条件代入Gross-Pitaevskii方程研究其随时间传播特征, 得到了稳定的传播过程, 所得到的结果和变分分析结果一致.

By making use of the split-step Fourier method, this paper numerically simulates dynamical behaviors, including repulsion, fusion, scattering and spiraling of colliding (3+1)D spatiotemporal solitons in both the dispersive medium with cubic-quintic and the saturable medium. Careful comparison of the colliding behaviors in these two media is presented. Although the origin of the nonlinearities is different in these two media, the obtained results show that the dynamical behaviors are very similar. This presents additional evidence to support the supposition of universality of interactions between solitons. 相似文献
