We propose a ring resonator drop filter with feedback loop which can form the other ring cavity to produce an asymmetric Fano-resonance line shape and mode compression. By properly adjusting the feedback loop, the asymmetric line shapes of the transmission spectra can be controlled and selectively mode compression of the circuiting intensity in the feedback loop is achieved. Such characteristics are useful for applications in ring resonator-based photonic devices such as all-optical switches, sensors and intracavity frequency selection single-mode laser.  相似文献

We have designed a tunable two dimensional (2D) channel drop filter (CDF) based on photonic crystal ring resonators (PCRR). Dropping efficiency and Q factor of single improved ring are 100% and 842, respectively. In this filter the quality factor is significantly improved with respect to other published reports. We investigate parameters which have an effect on resonant wavelength in this CDF, such as dielectric constant of inner, coupling, adjacent and whole rods of the structure and radius of inner rods. The transmission spectrum for our proposed configuration has been investigated using the 2D finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The area of the proposed structure is about 117 μm2.  相似文献

We present a theoretical investigation of optical bistability in a nonlinear semiconductor ring resonator, by taking into account the two-photon absorption and the free-carrier absorption. By solving the intensity equation within the ring resonator, a parametric formulation is obtained for describing the bistability relation between the input and the output intensities. Numerical results show that the nonlinear absorption effects can affect the critical points and domain of the optical bistability.  相似文献

本文构建了一个枝节直波导与带开口方环耦合谐振腔.基于金属-绝缘体-金属结构的Fano谐振原理,采用有限元法分析了该波导结构的透射谱线对谐振腔结构参数的依赖关系.在开口方环与直波导间距G=90 nm,枝节高度H=140 nm时,该谐振腔结构中可以产生中心波长分别为λ=746 nm和1521 nm具有反对称线型的双重Fano共振透射峰.研究表明:左侧谐振峰值先随H增高而升高,至H=140 nm达到最大值,之后随H增高峰值缓慢减弱,直至消失.右侧谐振峰值则几乎不受H变化影响.传输谷受H影响最大,随着H增大,枝节谐振腔的传输谷向长波长方向移动,而右侧两个传输谷基本保持不变.当H=210 nm时,左边Fano谐振完全消失,只剩下右边的谐振,且谐振峰基本保持不变.设置参数化扫描,观测Fano谐振的变化,在波长1500 nm~1700 nm之间,设置最佳参数,经拟合计算得到该谐振耦合腔可以作为一个灵敏度S为1496 nm/RIU,FOM=60.1的折射率传感器.该结构可以为纳米级折射率传感器设计提供有效依据.  相似文献

We report here 1 × 3 and 1 × 2 photonic drop splitters (PDSs) with different splitting ratios based on self-collimation ring resonators (SCRRs) in an air-hole silicon photonic crystal. An 1 × 3 PDS consists of four beam splitters and an 1 × 2 PDS consists of three beam splitters and one mirror. Light propagates in the PDSs employing self-collimation effect. The theoretical transmission spectra at different drop ports in PDSs were analyzed with the multiple-beam interference theory. Then they were investigated with the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation technique. The simulation results agree well with the theoretical prediction. For the drop wavelength 1550 nm, the free spectral range of the PDSs is about 29 nm, which almost covers the whole optical communication C-band window. Because of small dimensions, air-hole structure and whole-silicon material, the proposed PDSs hold great potentials for applications in photonic integrated circuits.  相似文献

The Faraday effect in ring resonators leads to the resonance splitting of clockwise and counter-clockwise propagating modes. In this work we investigate how this resonance splitting influences the ring resonator's behavior if both modes are coupled by a sidewall corrugation of the resonator. Coupled mode theory is used to evaluate the transmission and reflection characteristics of a ring resonator coupled to a waveguide. Based on these evaluations, we characterize a novel ring resonator switch. The resonance of the corrugated gyrotropic resonator coupled to a waveguide can be switched off by the application of the external magnetic field. In this case, the resonance is not shifted, as what typically occurs at small perturbations, but suppressed.  相似文献

We study the splitting of the Fano resonance in a Aharonov–Bohm interferometer with a quantum dot in each of its arms. Both intra- and inter-dot Coulomb repulsions are taken into account by employing the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green’s function technique. The single narrow Fano resonance in the noninteracting case is split into two in the presence of either intra- or inter-dot Coulomb interaction. We find that four Fano peaks emerge in the conductance or local density of states spectra when the two kinds of interactions exist simultaneously. Such behavior holds true for the accompanying broad Breit–Wigner type resonance. We also show that the positions of the Fano peaks can be tuned with the aid of the magnetic flux penetrating through the ring, which might have practical applications in device design or quantum computation.  相似文献

提出由T型空腔和挡板组成的两种金属-电介质-金属(MIM)波导结构,分别为:正T型空腔结构和倒T型空腔结构,并应用有限元法系统地研究了该结构的透射特性.对于正T型空腔结构,仿真结果出现了双重法诺共振现象,并且共振波长可以通过改变T型空腔长度和高度进行调节.该结构有助于设计成敏感度达到1 620nm/RIU、品质因数为5.4×10~4的纳米传感器.对于倒置T型空腔,在波导中产生了多重法诺共振现象,其敏感度可达1 560nm/RIU,品质因数为9.37×104.该结构有望在光学集成回路,特别是纳米传感器、光束分路器方面具有广泛应用.  相似文献

The spectrum of resonance frequencies in so-called free-standing resonators, built with coupled ring or disk resonators is analytically and numerically investigated. The composite resonator which constitutes the core of numerous photonic devices such as channel dropping filters, dispersion compensators, laser mirrors, etc., determines the salient characteristics of the device, such as its passband width and free spectral range (FSR). The spectral characteristics of the resonances are determined by the refractive indices of the waveguides, the dimensions of the resonators, and the strength of coupling between them. Novel relationships between these parameters are described that result in the invariance of the splitting ratios and as a consequence maintain the passband characteristics of the associated devices. Waveguide attenuation affecting the Q factor of the composite resonators is found to have insignificant effect on their spectral characteristics.  相似文献

利用平均场近似理论,研究了一个嵌入T型弱耦合双量子点的介观环系统的基态性质. 结果表明,体系中复杂的基态性质源于Kondo效应与Fano效应相互竞争. 当介观环的尺寸达到足以产生完全Kondo共振时,随双量子点间耦合强度的增强,尖锐的持续电流峰出现了,且越发显著,这说明体系中存在着显著的Fano 效应. 但介观环的Kondo共振持续电流峰值却几乎不发生变化,这为测定Kondo 屏蔽云提供了一个新的可能模型. 关键词: 耦合量子点 持续电流 Kondo效应 Fano 效应  相似文献

A four-channel wavelength demultiplexer based on photonic crystal ring resonators (PCRR), which can be used for photonic integrated circuits, is designed. Dropping efficiency and Q factor of single improved ring are 100% and 842, respectively. In order to achieve the structure of demultiplexer, three improved rings have been used, that every ring has an individual inner rod radius; it means that each ring has a varying resonant wavelength. The results of simulation using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method in our proposed structure reveals an average transmitted power higher than 90% for each output port, Channel spacing is about 8 nm and bandwidth for each individual channel is about 2.8 nm. The mean value of the crosstalk between output channels and the area of the proposed structure are about −29 dB and 317 μm2, respectively. By changing the radius of inner rods, various wavelengths can be chosen, therefore this device is tunable.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose the implementation of waveguide-coupled ring resonators in photonic crystal integrated circuits. Using two-dimensional finite difference time domain (2D FDTD) method, we study the spectral characteristics of a waveguide-coupled ring carved in two-dimensional photonic crystal of square lattice (2D SLPC) and based on the results, we suitably modify the structure geometry to establish its performance as a ring resonator. We further investigate the effects of ring dimension and crystal parameters on the resonance properties of the ring resonator.  相似文献

We propose a new design of secured packet switching generated by using nonlinear behaviors of light in a micro ring resonator. The use of chaotic signals generated by the micro ring resonator to form the filtering and packet switching characteristics is described, where the high-capacity and security switching using such form is presented. The key advantage is that the high capacity of communication data can be secured in the transmission link, where the nonlinear penalty of light traveling in the device is beneficial. For instance, the required information can be transmitted and retrieved by using the proposed packet switching scheme. In principle, the chaotic signals are generated by a Kerr effects nonlinear type of light in a micro ring resonator, where the control input power can be specified by the required output filtering signals. The ring radii used range between 10 and 20 μm, κ=0.0225, α=0.5 dB and n2=2.2×10−15 m2/W. Simulation results obtained have been described based on the practical device parameters. Three forms of the applications have been simulated, the potential of using for the tunable band pass and band stop filters, in which high-capacity packet switching data can be performed, and the fs switching time is plausible.  相似文献

A 4-channel wavelength division demultiplexer based on photonic crystal structures suitable for WDM communication applications is proposed. In order to improve the wavelength selectivity we introduce four scattering rods above and under the X-shaped ring resonators in the proposed structure. It is shown that the PBG of the structure is tuned for communication systems in both TE and TM modes but the results demonstrated that just the first PBG in TM mode is suitable for WDM applications, so all the simulations will be done in TM mode. The minimum and maximum crosstalk between channels is −23.7 dB and −7.5 dB, respectively. Also, the average channel spacing in this structure is 3 nm.  相似文献

Implementing of photonic sampling and quantizing analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) enable us to extract a single binary word from optical signals without need for extra electronic assisting parts. This would enormously increase the sampling and quantizing time as well as decreasing the consumed power. To this end, based on the concept of successive approximation method, a 4-bit full-optical ADC that operates using the intensity-dependent Kerr-like nonlinearity in a two dimensional photonic crystal (2DPhC) platform is proposed. The Silicon (Si) nanocrystal is chosen because of the suitable nonlinear material characteristic. An optical limiter is used for the clamping and quantization of each successive levels that represent the ADC bits. In the proposal, an energy efficient optical ADC circuit is implemented by controlling the system parameters such as ring-to-waveguide coupling coefficients, the ring’s nonlinear refractive index, and the ring’s length. The performance of the ADC structure is verified by the simulation using finite difference time domain (FDTD) method.  相似文献

In this article, Fano lineshape whispering gallery modes were observed in the light scattering spectrum of a silicon microsphere in near-infrared telecommunication wavelengths. A simple model is presented to explain the transition from Lorentzian lineshape to the Fano lineshape resonances with the coupled-mode theory of multiple whispering gallery modes. Polar mode spacing of 0.23 nm is observed in the spectra, which correlates well with the calculated value. The quality factor of the Lorentzian and Fano resonances are on the order of 105. By using an appropriate interface design for the microsphere coupling geometries, Fano lineshape optical resonances herald novel device applications for silicon volumetric lightwave circuits.  相似文献

Using the nonequilibrium Keldysh Green's function technique, the Fano effect of a parallel-coupled triple Rashba quantum dot system is investigated. The conductance as a function of electron energy is numerically calculated. Compared with the case of a parallel-coupled double quantum dot system, two additional Fano resonance peaks occur in the conductance spectrum. By adjusting the structural parameters, the two Fano resonance peaks may change into the resonance peaks. In addition, the influence of Rashba spin-orbit interaction on the conductance is studied.  相似文献

Crossed waveguide is widely used in optical devices, whose excess loss has a strong impact on multi-turn optical waveguide ring resonator and resonator integrated optic gyro. The resonance curve of the ring resonator is sharply dependent on the loss within the resonator. This paper presents how to get excess loss of the crossed waveguides nondestructively through the comparison of the resonance characteristics between one-turn and multi-turn optical waveguide ring resonators.  相似文献
