A two-dimensional photon counting imaging detector based on a Vernier position sensitive anode is reported. The decode principle and design of a two-dimensionai Vernier anode axe introduced in detail. A photon counting imaging system was built based on a Vernier anode. The image of very weak optical radiation can be reconstructed by image processing in a period of integration time. The resolution is superior to 100 μm according to the resolution test. The detector may realize the imaging of very weak particle flow of high- energy photons, electrons and ions, so it can be used for high-energy physics, deep space exploration, spectral measurement and bio-luminescence detection.  相似文献

The time structure of synchrotron radiation at BESSY I (Berlin) was utilised to operate a photoemission electron microscope in the time-of-flight mode. The electrons that are emitted from the sample surface with different energies are dispersed in a drift tube subsequent to the imaging optics. Two ways of fast image detection have been explored, a fast gated intensified CCD camera (800 ps gate time) and a special counting electronics in combination with a 3D (x,y,t)-resolving delay line detector (timeresolution<500 ps). The latter device has a lateral resolution of about 50 μm in the image plane being equivalent to 1000 pixels along the image diagonal. An energy resolution of 400 meV has been achieved. The future potential of time-resolving photoemission microscopy is discussed.  相似文献

Upgraded FE-SEM with STEM detector permits the observation and imaging of thin materials such as carbon nanotubes by transmitted electrons directly in a FE-SEM. It is important to know the resolution of transmitted electrons mode compared to the classical secondary electrons mode. The resolution was measured with SMART macro. This routine permits to quickly determine resolution of a micrograph, based on fast Fourier transform analysis. An optimum working distance value was found around 6mm for an accelerating voltage equal to 10 keV. In addition to this, it was shown that the resolution obtained in bright field and secondary electron images at 15 keV had appreciatively the same resolution. Also, it was shown that images in dark field mode have a poorer resolution compared with bright field transmitted electrons and secondary electrons images.  相似文献

A lightweight microfoil conversion electron detector has been built for use as a detector/analyser for selective excitation double Mössbauer experiments. The detector weighs approximately 40 g; it can be moved with constant acceleration by a conventional electromechanical drive, with peak velocities up to ±15 mm/s. Conversion electrons from resonant absorption events are collected from both sides of two 0.3 μm thick57Fe-enriched stainless steel foils inside the detector. The detector's performance (signal to noise per unit time) has been compared with a potassium ferrocyanide absorber and proportional counter, and it is found to be about ten times better for a given source strength and sampling angle. The overall detector linewidth is 0.42 (2) mm/s, compared with 0.37 (1) mm/s for the PFC absorber.  相似文献

The LHAASO project is to be built in south-west China, using an array of 5137 electron detectors for the measurement of incident electrons arriving at the detector plane. For quality control of the large number of electron detectors, a cosmic ray hodoscope with two-dimensional spatial sensitivity and good time resolution has been developed. The first prototype of the electron detector has been tested with the hodoscope and the performance of the detector is found to be consistent with the design.  相似文献

Evidence for excitation of suprathermal electrons ( E(gamma) approximately 20-100 keV) during magnetic reconnection in the T-10 tokamak is presented through analysis of the x-ray measurements with enhanced spatial and time resolution. A toroidally viewing x-ray imaging system and a fast hard x-ray detector placed inside the tokamak vessel allow identification of bursts of the nonthermal x-ray radiation around X points of the m = 1 and m = 2 magnetic islands during the sawtooth crash and prior to the energy quench at the density limit disruption.  相似文献

The time resolution of a new bunch-length detector based on the radio frequency (RF) scanning of the produced secondary electrons is calculated. A dedicated Monte-Carlo code by means of SIMION software is developed for accurate simulation of spread in the investigated secondary electrons transit times and image width. In calculation the initial energy distribution of electrons and the actual structure of accelerating and focusing electric fields were considered. It is shown that by using a thin-wire emission target a femtosecond time precision could be achieved using moderate applied voltages.  相似文献

We present computer simulations of a new design of a variable energy positron lifetime beam that uses for a start signal the secondary electron emission from a 25-nm thick carbon foil (C-foil) located in front of the sample. A needle of ∼30 μm diameter is positioned on-axis right behind the foil, creating a radial electric field that deflects the secondary electrons radially outward so as to miss the sample and to hit the micro-channel plate (MCP) detector placed down beam. The MCP signal provides the start signal for the positron lifetime spectrometer. A grid can be further introduced between the sample holder and the MCP to yield a cleaner signal by preventing the positrons with large transmitted scattering angle from hitting the MCP. The cylindrical symmetry of this design reduces the experimental complexity and offers good timing resolution. We show that the design is robust against the transmitted energy and angle of the secondary electrons and positrons.  相似文献

Synchrotron radiation time structure is becoming a common tool for studying dynamic properties of materials. The main limitation is often the wide time domain the user would like to access with pump–probe experiments. In order to perform photoelectron spectroscopy experiments over time scales from milliseconds to picoseconds it is mandatory to measure the time at which each measured photoelectron was created. For this reason the usual CCD camera‐based two‐dimensional detection of electron energy analyzers has been replaced by a new delay‐line detector adapted to the time structure of the SOLEIL synchrotron radiation source. The new two‐dimensional delay‐line detector has a time resolution of 5 ns and was installed on a Scienta SES 2002 electron energy analyzer. The first application has been to characterize the time of flight of the photoemitted electrons as a function of their kinetic energy and the selected pass energy. By repeating the experiment as a function of the available pass energy and of the kinetic energy, a complete characterization of the analyzer behaviour in the time domain has been obtained. Even for kinetic energies as low as 10 eV at 2 eV pass energy, the time spread of the detected electrons is lower than 140 ns. These results and the time structure of the SOLEIL filling modes assure the possibility of performing pump–probe photoelectron spectroscopy experiments with the time resolution given by the SOLEIL pulse width, the best performance of the beamline and of the experimental station.  相似文献

Spectral measurement of weak THz waves with quantum Hall detectors   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A terahertz (THz) microspectroscope is developed, in which the frequency of extremely weak THz radiation is resolved by scanning the magnetic field for a quantum Hall detector. The electron density of the detectors is controlled by the back-gate biasing, so that the detector sensitivity is calibrated over a spectral range studied. Reliable spectral measurements with a spectral resolution of 1.2 cm−1 has been made with a sensitivity better than 10 femtowatt level over 1 s integration time.  相似文献

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO) is an experiment proposed to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and probe the fundamental properties of neutrino oscillation.The JUNO central detector is a spherical liquid scintillator detector with 20 kton fiducial mass.It is required to achieve a 3%/E(MeV)~(1/2) energy resolution with very low radioactive background,which is a big challenge to the detector design.In order to ensure the detector performance can meet the physics requirements,reliable detector simulation is necessary to provide useful information for the detector design.A simulation study of natural radioactivity backgrounds in the JUNO central detector has been performed to guide the detector design and set requirements for the radio-purity of the detector materials.The accidental background induced by natural radioactivity in the JUNO central detector is 1.1/day.The result is satisfied for the experiment.  相似文献

A modified electron bombardment type ion source suitable for use with mass spectrometer is described. Ion formation occurs throughout a relatively large volume in the ionisation box, since no magnetic field is used to collimate the ionising electrons. A sensitivity of 2 × 10−5 amp/torr is obtained for an ion extraction energy of 2 keV and 200 mass resolution. Trajectory tracing has been used to study the operation of the ion source. Capability of the ion source to analyse solid samples in microgram quantity was tested by studying evaporation of BaO from tungsten.  相似文献

A heavy-ion time-of-flight spectrometer has been constructed and operated successfully in our experiments. The trigger detector consists of a thin plastic scientillator foil located at the focus of a perabolic mirror which is coupled to a fast photomultiplier with high light collection efficiency. The time resolution obtained for the system is around 500ps. The mass resolution for A=12 elastically scattered 12C line is ~0.3.  相似文献

高精度环形谱仪SRing(Spectrometer Ring)是强流重离子加速器装置(HIAF)的重要组成部分,其等时性模式为远离β稳定线的短寿命原子核质量和寿命的精确测量提供国际领先的科研条件。为了扩大短寿命原子核质量测量精度和范围,SRing等时性模式设计了两种光学:γt=1.43和1.67。质量分辨是衡量等时性储存环的最重要参数。二极磁铁的高阶场以及磁铁的边缘场能强烈地引起束流光学高阶畸变,对质量分辨产生影响,因此需要高极磁铁对其进行校正。介绍了SRing等时性模式的线性计算,对非线性磁场的影响进行了详细研究。应用六极磁铁和八极磁铁对非线性场和发射度的影响进行了校正后,离子的循环时间标准偏差σ(T)/T达到3.5×10-7,质量分辨△m/m达到1×106。The isochronous mode of the Spectrometer Ring at the High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) project in China offers the capacity of measuring the mass and half-life of short-lived nuclides. The transition energy settings of the SRing are 1.43 and 1.67, which have been calculated in the same injection scheme. The resolution of mass or revolution time is the most important parameter of the isochronous mode design of a storage ring. The nonlinear magnetic field errors, including high-order magnet field of dipole, fringe field of magnets, have strongly effect to the resolution of revolution time. High-order corrections are required to improve the resolution of revolution time and mass. In this paper, the SRing linear isochronous optical were shown. The influence of nonlinear magnetic field errors on the revolution time resolving power were investigated. With 3 sextupole families and 1 octupole family corrections, the relative variation of revolution time reaches 4.6×10-7 with the momentum spread of ±0.2%. The relation of the relative standard revolution time deviation σ(T)/T and revolution turns was researched. With corrections of high-order isochronous condition and emittance influence by 3 sextupole families and 1 octupole family, one can reach a resolution of up to σ(T)/T=3.5×10-7, which corresponds to the mass resolution of △m/m=1×106.  相似文献

An on-line test of the LINAC superbuncher at Nuclear Science Centre has been successfully performed. DC O7+ beam of nominal energy 92 MeV was accelerated through the superbuncher resonator, operating at a field of 4.54 MV/m. The total energy gain of the beam was measured to be 4.5 MeV. For the pulsed beam test a phase locked bunched beam of O7+ of nominal energy 92 MeV, FWHM 1.3 ns from the pre-tandem multiharmonic buncher was injected into the superbuncher. By properly adjusting the phase and amplitude of the resonator, the best FWHM of the bunched beam was measured to be 185 ps near the entrance of the first LINAC module. Fully depleted cooled surface barrier detector was used for measuring the time width. In a separate experiment the intrinsic time resolution of the same detector was measured to be 134 ps. Consequently the intrinsic time width of the bunched beam, after correcting for the detector resolution, would be 127 ps. Details of the experiment and results are presented.  相似文献

 The combination of in-flight fragment separator and the isochronous mass spectrometry(IMS) in storage rings have been proven to be a powerful tool for the precision mass measurements of shortlived exotic nuclei. In IMS, the mass-over-charge ratio is only related to the revolution period of stored ions, and the relative mass resolution can reach up to the order of 10−6. However, the instability of the magnetic field of storage ring deteriorates the resolution of revolution period, making it very difficult to distinguish the ions with very close mass-over-charge ratio via their revolution periods. To improve the resolution of revolution periods, a new method of weighted shift correction (WSC) has been developed to accurately correct the influence of the magnetic field instabilities in the isochronous mass measurements of 58Ni projectile fragments. By using the new method, the influence of unstable magnetic fields can be greatly reduced, and the mass resolution can be improved by a factor up to 1.7. Moreover, for the ions that still cannot be distinguished after correcting the magnetic field instabilities, we developed a new method of pulse height analysis for particle identification. By analyzing the mean pulse amplitude of each ion from the timing detector, the stored ions with close mass-over-charge ratios but different charge states such as 34Ar and 51Co can be identified, and thus the mass of 51Co can be determined. The charge-resolved IMS may be helpful in the future experiments of isochronous mass measurement even for N =Z nuclei.  相似文献

A detector is developed for a microscope operating in the soft X-ray region. Main detector characteristics are given. Spatial resolution is less than 1 μm. For the high-aperture optical lens with numerical aperture NA = 0.55, the efficiency of converting X-ray energy to visible light collected on its charge-coupled device (CCD) camera is 2.8%. Owing to the optical part of the detector, it is possible to change the microscope’s resolution and field of view when measuring.  相似文献
