In this paper, we consider the problem (Pε) : Δ2u=un+4/n-4+εu,u>0 in Ω,u=Δu=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded and smooth domain in Rn,n>8 and ε>0. We analyze the asymptotic behavior of solutions of (Pε) which are minimizing for the Sobolev inequality as ε→0 and we prove existence of solutions to (Pε) which blow up and concentrate around a critical point of the Robin's function. Finally, we show that for ε small, (Pε) has at least as many solutions as the Ljusternik–Schnirelman category of Ω. 相似文献

By a perturbation method and constructing comparison functions, we reveal how the inhomogeneous term h affects the exact asymptotic behaviour of solutions near the boundary to the problem △u=b(x)g(u)+λh(x), u>0 in Ω, u|∂Ω=∞, where Ω is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in RN, λ>0, g∈C1[0,∞) is increasing on [0,∞), g(0)=0, g′ is regularly varying at infinity with positive index ρ, the weight b, which is non-trivial and non-negative in Ω, may be vanishing on the boundary, and the inhomogeneous term h is non-negative in Ω and may be singular on the boundary. 相似文献

In this note we derive a maximum principle for an appropriate functional combination of u(x) and |∇u|2, where u(x) is a strictly convex classical solution to a general class of Monge–Ampère equations. This maximum principle is then employed to establish some isoperimetric inequalities of interest in the theory of surfaces of constant Gauss curvature in RN+1. 相似文献

The paper deals with the radially symmetric solutions of ut=Δu+um(x,t)vn(0,t), vt=Δv+up(0,t)vq(x,t), subject to null Dirichlet boundary conditions. For the blow-up classical solutions, we propose the critical exponents for non-simultaneous blow-up by determining the complete and optimal classification for all the non-negative exponents: (i) There exist initial data such that u (v) blows up alone if and only if m>p+1 (q>n+1), which means that any blow-up is simultaneous if and only if m≤p+1, q≤n+1. (ii) Any blow-up is u (v) blowing up with v (u) remaining bounded if and only if m>p+1, q≤n+1 (m≤p+1, q>n+1). (iii) Both non-simultaneous and simultaneous blow-up may occur if and only if m>p+1, q>n+1. Moreover, we consider the blow-up rate and set estimates which were not obtained in the previously known work for the same model. 相似文献

It is proven that the generalized Riemann problem for a class of quasilinear hyperbolic systems of balance laws admits a unique global piecewise C1 solution u=u(t,x) containing only n shock waves with small amplitude on t?0 and this solution possesses a global structure similar to that of the similarity solution u=U(x/t) of the corresponding homogeneous Riemann problem. As an application of our result, we prove the existence of global shock solutions, piecewise continuous and piecewise smooth solution with shock discontinuities, of the flow equations of a model class of fluids with viscosity induced by fading memory with a single jump initial data. 相似文献

We consider the simplest possible heat equation for director fields, ut=Δu+|∇u|2u (|u|=1), and construct axially symmetric traveling wave solutions defined in an infinitely long cylinder. The traveling waves have a point singularity of topological degree 0 or 1. 相似文献

We consider the Penrose–Fife phase field model [Thermodynamically consistent models of phase-field type for the kinetics of phase transitions, Physica D 43 (1990) 44–62] with homogeneous Neumann boundary condition to the nonlinear heat flux q=∇(1/θ), i.e., q=0 on the boundary, where θ>0 is the temperature. There is a unique H1 solution globally in time with the non-empty, connected, compact ω-limit set composed of stationary solutions, and the linearized stable stationary solution is dynamically stable. 相似文献

In the well-known work of P.-L. Lions [The concentration–compactness principle in the calculus of variations, The locally compact case, part 1. Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré, Analyse Non Linéaire 1 (1984) 109–1453] existence of positive solutions to the equation -Δu+u=b(x)up-1, u>0, u∈H1(RN), p∈(2,2N/(N-2)) was proved under assumption b(x)?b∞?lim|x|→∞b(x). In this paper we prove the existence for certain functions b satisfying the reverse inequality b(x)<b∞. For any periodic lattice L in RN and for any b∈C(RN) satisfying b(x)<b∞, b∞>0, there is a finite set Y⊂L and a convex combination bY of b(·-y), y∈Y, such that the problem -Δu+u=bY(x)up-1 has a positive solution u∈H1(RN). 相似文献

It is well known that the solution of the classical linear wave equation with an initial condition with compact support and vanishing initial velocity also has a compact support included in a set depending on time: the support of the solution at time t is causally related to that of the initial condition. Reed and Simon have shown that for a real-valued Klein–Gordon equation with (nonlinear) right-hand side −λu3 (λ>0), causality still holds. We show the same property for a one-dimensional Klein–Gordon problem but with transmission and with a more general repulsive nonlinear right-hand side F(u). We also prove the global existence of a solution using the repulsiveness of F. In the particular case F(u)=−λu3, the problem is a relativistic model for a quantum particle with repulsive self-interaction and tunnel effect at a semi-infinite potential step. 相似文献

We examine the regularity of weak solutions of quasi-geostrophic (QG) type equations with supercritical (α<1/2) dissipation α(−Δ). This study is motivated by a recent work of Caffarelli and Vasseur, in which they study the global regularity issue for the critical (α=1/2) QG equation [L. Caffarelli, A. Vasseur, Drift diffusion equations with fractional diffusion and the quasi-geostrophic equation, arXiv: math.AP/0608447, 2006]. Their approach successively increases the regularity levels of Leray–Hopf weak solutions: from L2 to L∞, from L∞ to Hölder (Cδ, δ>0), and from Hölder to classical solutions. In the supercritical case, Leray–Hopf weak solutions can still be shown to be L∞, but it does not appear that their approach can be easily extended to establish the Hölder continuity of L∞ solutions. In order for their approach to work, we require the velocity to be in the Hölder space C1−2α. Higher regularity starting from Cδ with δ>1−2α can be established through Besov space techniques and will be presented elsewhere [P. Constantin, J. Wu, Regularity of Hölder continuous solutions of the supercritical quasi-geostrophic equation, Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré Anal. Non Linéaire, in press]. 相似文献

We study optimal embeddings for the space of functions whose Laplacian Δu belongs to L1(Ω), where Ω⊂RN is a bounded domain. This function space turns out to be strictly larger than the Sobolev space W2,1(Ω) in which the whole set of second-order derivatives is considered. In particular, in the limiting Sobolev case, when N=2, we establish a sharp embedding inequality into the Zygmund space Lexp(Ω). On one hand, this result enables us to improve the Brezis–Merle (Brezis and Merle (1991) [13]) regularity estimate for the Dirichlet problem Δu=f(x)∈L1(Ω), u=0 on ∂Ω; on the other hand, it represents a borderline case of D.R. Adams' (1988) [1] generalization of Trudinger–Moser type inequalities to the case of higher-order derivatives. Extensions to dimension N?3 are also given. Besides, we show how the best constants in the embedding inequalities change under different boundary conditions. 相似文献

We consider the semi-linear elliptic equation Δu+f(x,u)+g(|x|)x·∇u=0, in some exterior region of Rn,n?3. It is shown that if f depends radially on its first argument and is nonincreasing in its second, boundary conditions force the unique solution to be radial. Under different conditions, we prove the existence of a positive radial asymptotic solution to the same equation. 相似文献

We present a regularity result for weak solutions of the 2D quasi-geostrophic equation with supercritical (α<1/2) dissipation α(−Δ): If a Leray–Hopf weak solution is Hölder continuous θ∈Cδ(R2) with δ>1−2α on the time interval [t0,t], then it is actually a classical solution on (t0,t]. 相似文献

Let r,s∈]1,2[ and λ,μ∈]0,+∞[. In this paper, we deal with the existence and multiplicity of nonnegative and nonzero solutions of the Dirichlet problem with 0 boundary data for the semilinear elliptic equation −Δu=λus−1−ur−1 in Ω⊂RN, where N≥2. We prove that there exists a positive constant Λ such that the above problem has at least two solutions, at least one solution or no solution according to whether λ>Λ, λ=Λ or λ<Λ. In particular, a result by Hernandéz, Macebo and Vega is improved and, for the semilinear case, a result by Díaz and Hernandéz is partially extended to higher dimensions. Finally, an answer to a conjecture, recently stated by the author, is also given. 相似文献
