Lifting chains of prime ideals to paravaluation rings

A going-up theorem for arbitrary chains of prime ideals

We prove that if an extension R ? T of commutative rings satisfies the going-up property (for instance, if T is an integral extension of R), then any increasing chain of prime ideals of R (indexed by an arbitrary linearly ordered set) is covered by some corresponding chain of prime ideals of T. As a corollary, we recover the recent result of Kang and Oh that any such chain of prime ideals of an integral domain D is covered by a corresponding chain in some valuation overring of D.

Properties of chains of prime ideals in an amalgamated algebra along an ideal

Let f:A→B be a ring homomorphism and let J be an ideal of B. In this paper, we study the amalgamation of A with B along J with respect to f (denoted by A?^fJ), a construction that provides a general frame for studying the amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal, introduced and studied by D’Anna and Fontana in 2007, and other classical constructions (such as the A+XB[X], the A+XB?X? and the D+M constructions). In particular, we completely describe the prime spectrum of the amalgamated duplication and we give bounds for its Krull dimension.     

Estimates for prime ideals

A modification of an old argument due to ?ebi?ev is used to obtain uniform estimates for prime ideals in algebraic number fields.     

The spin of prime ideals

Fixing a nontrivial automorphism of a number field K, we associate to ideals in K an invariant (with values in {0,±1}) which we call the spin and for which the associated L-function does not possess Euler products. We are nevertheless able, using the techniques of bilinear forms, to handle spin value distribution over primes, obtaining stronger results than the analogous ones which follow from the technology of L-functions in its current state. The initial application of our theorem is to the arithmetic statistics of Selmer groups of elliptic curves.     

On rings whose prime ideals are completely prime

We investigate in this paper rings whose proper ideals are 2-primal. We concentrate on the connections between this condition and related concepts to this condition, and several kinds of π-regularities of rings which satisfy this condition. Moreover, we add counterexamples to the situations that occur naturally in the process of this note.     

On minimal strongly prime ideals

In this paper we give some characterizations of a ring Rwhose unique maximal nil ideal N _r (R) coincides with the set of all its nilpotent elements N(R) by using its minimal strongly prime ideals.     

Prime elements from prime ideals

The prime ideal theorem for distributive lattices (PIT) is shown to imply that any complete distributive lattice with a compact unit has a prime element, which is then used to deduce from PIT that (1) every nontrivial ring with unit has a prime ideal, and (2) every Wallman locale is spatial.

The lifting of determinantal prime ideals

The main results of this paper show that a perfect prime ideal generated by the maximal minors of a matrix has the equality between symbolic and ordinary powers if the ideals generated by the low order minors of the matrix have grade large enough and that any determinantal prime ideal of maximal minors with maximal grade of a matrix of homogenous forms whose 2-minors are homogeneous can be lifted to a prime determinantal ideal having the above equality. Minimal prime ideals of reduced rings

Let R be a reduced ring with Q its Martindale symmetric ring of quotients, and let B be the complete Boolean algebra of all idempotents in C, where C is the extended centroid of R. It is proved that every minimal prime ideal of R must be of the form mQ∩R for some maximal ideal m of B but the converse is in general not true. In addition, if R is centrally closed or has only finitely many minimal prime ideals, then the converse also holds. By applying the explicit expression, many properties of minimal prime ideals of reduced rings are realized more easily.     

On the order of prime ideals

A posetX is isomorphic to the poset of all prime ideals of a (distributive) lattice with zero and unit if, and only if,X is the projective limit of an inverse system of finite posets.
