Usually the quantum fluctuation characteristic of a non-degenerate optical parametric amplifier is analysed under the assumption of monochromatic pumping. However, in experiments, a driving beam with finite bandwidth is used to obtain the non-degenerate signal and idler beam amplifications. On account of that, we derive an analytical solution for the non-degenerate optical parametric amplification system with finite bandwidth laser pumping, and evaluate the associated quantum fluctuation. Finally, the application of the V1 criterion to bipartite entanglement is discussed.  相似文献

The solution of the time-dependent periodic pumping non-degenerate optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) is derived when the pump depletion is considered both above and below thresholds. Based on this solution, the quantum fluctuation calculated shows that a high entanglement and a good squeezing degree of the parametric light beams are achieved near and above thresholds. We adopt two kinds of pump fields: (i) a continuously modulated pump with a sinusoidal envelope; (ii) a sequence of laser pulses with Gaussian envelopes. We analyse the time evolution of continuous variable entanglement by analytical and numerical calculations, and show that the periodic driven pumping also improves the degree of entanglement. The squeezing and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entanglement by using the two pumping driven functions are investigated from below to above the threshold regions, the tendencies are nearly the same, and the Gaussian driven function is superior to that of the sine driven function, when the maximum squeezing and the minimum variance of quantum fluctuation are considered. In the meantime, the generalization of frequency degenerate OPA to frequency non-degenerated OPA problem is investigated.  相似文献

Methods for beam shaping with nonzero orbital angular momentum are studied using diffraction optical elements with the purpose of developing a source of single-photon states based on spontaneous parametric down-conversion of light in the LiNbO3 crystal in the cavity resonator. The probability of the coincidence of the number of photocounts in detecting signal and idle fields under pumping by a beam with the orbital angular momentum is simulated.  相似文献

An optical parametric gain bandwidth of 115 THz at full-width half maximum is generated from a picosecond Ti:sapphire pumped degenerate optical parametric generator. This ultrabroad bandwidth could be obtained by first identifying the wavelength where the nonlinear optical material has zero group-velocity dispersion (GVD). By pumping at half this wavelength the degenerate signal–idler pairs can accommodate ultrabroad bandwidths. The explanation for this is that the group velocities of the signal and the idlers are approximately matched and the GVD is small. However, in order to thoroughly investigate the degeneracy region around 1700 nm we fabricated several periodically poled KTiOPO4 (PPKTP) crystals with different periods, and also one periodically poled RbTiOPO4 (PPRTP). Both collinear and noncollinear configurations were employed for broadband parametric generation in this region. It was found that the optimum pump wavelength is in the region between 800 nm to 850 nm for PPKTP, and we could also conclude that a similar performance was found for PPRTP. This work will allow the design of optical parametric devices for generating few-cycle pulses in the spectral region between 1.1 μm and 3.8 μm. PACS 42.65.Re; 42.65.Ky; 42.65.-k  相似文献

给出了一种在非粒子反转条件下量子阱和量子点激光器的红外发射机理.此种红外发射是基于在同一作用区产生并作为红外场相干源的两种带间跃迁激光场的共振非线性混合.这种频率下转换机理并不依赖于在半导体激活媒质中的长时相干假定条件,在室温和泵注入电流条件下仍然有效.频率下转换的固有效率可以达到相当于每个可见光子产生一个红外光子的量子极限值.根据红外发射的可参变特性,这种非粒子反转的方法尤其适用于长波红外工作范围.  相似文献

We report on four-wave optical parametric amplification of the ultrashort ultraviolet light pulses in bulk fused silica and CaF2. Exact phase-matching in these isotropic media is achieved by means of non-collinear interaction with cylindrical beam focusing. Four-wave optical parametric amplifier efficiently operates in the UV spectral range with 1-ps laser pulses, delivering amplified signal energy exceeding 50 μJ using millijoule pump pulses in the visible (527 nm). Results of scanning of the parametric gain profile suggest that broad amplification bandwidth as wide as ∼20 nm (at FWHM) under these experimental settings is achieved, which might support amplification of sub-10-fs ultraviolet pulses with central wavelength around 330 nm. It is also shown experimentally and verified theoretically that the parametric gain profile exposes a distinct inhomogeneity and its bandwidth notably broadens due to effects of self- and cross-phase modulation imposed by the intense pump beam.  相似文献

We report the experimental generation of the optical non-classical states with 1.34 μm wavelength which is close to one of the fiber telecommunication windows (1.31 μm). The single-mode amplitude squeezed states with quantum fluctuation of 2.3 ± 0.1 dB below the shot noise limit (SNL) and the entangled states with quantum correlation of 1.1 ± 0.1 dB below the SNL are produced by an optical parametric amplifier with a type-I phase-matched PPKTP crystal and a pair of properly oriented type-II phase-matched KTP crystals, respectively.  相似文献

Scattering of charged particles is accompanied by the emission of soft photons. Handel's theory of 1/f noise, based on the infrared quasi-divergent coupling of the system to the electromagnetic field, indicates that the current associated with a beam of scattered particles will exhibit 1/f noise. His derivation is valid in a vacuum. Here we extend his results and obtain the fluctuation spectrum for the fluctuations in cross-section and for the scattering rates w kk in k-space, using the Born approximation. Next we consider mobility fluctuations due to these scattering rates, employing the relaxation time solutions of the Boltzmann transport equation, valid in non-degenerate semiconductors. Explicit results are obtained for the mobility-fluctuation noise caused by ionized impurity scattering, acoustic phonon scattering, optical phonon scattering, polar optical phonon scattering, and intervalley scattering. We derive Hooge's law, and the Hooge parameters for the above-mentioned processes are obtained in detail. This is then applied to n-type silicon and n-type gallium arsenide; the overall Hooge parameter, which is a weighted average of the partial α-parameters, is computed as a function of temperature and compared with experiment. For silicon, good agreement is obtained with available data. As a byproduct we also find the mobilities as function of temperature for these materials. Excellent agreement with the well-known experimental data is observed.

We still note that this is the first theoretical derivation of Hooge's law and that the magnitude of the noise is obtained in detail without adjustable parameters. We believe that quantum 1/f noise gives the limiting value of 1/f noise that can be observed.  相似文献

The magnetic-field dependence of the nonlinear differential refractive index Δnand absorption Δα in quantum wires—measured by non-degenerate pump and probe spectroscopy—is investigated theoretically. The nonlinearities arise from population saturation of the excitonic state under optical pumping and the formation of biexcitons (excitonic molecules). Both Δnand Δ α exhibit positive and negative peaks at certain pump and probe detuning frequencies associated with the formation of biexcitons and bleaching of excitons, respectively. The amplitude, lineshape and the frequency at which these peaks occur can be modulated by a magnetic field which opens up the possibility of realizing novel magneto-optical devices. Additionally, the magnetic field may allow us to realize a relatively large variation in the differential refractive index over a range of frequencies without significant accompanying absorption, thereby allowing the observation of optical bistability.  相似文献

Two experimental arrangements consisting of coupled spontaneous parametric down-converters with type-I phase matching pumped simultaneously by a powerful optical field in a coherent state through a balanced beam splitter and linear optical elements are proposed for conditional preparation of macroscopic entangled states in output pumping modes of the studied system. Successful generation of the macroscopic entangled state in the pumping modes is unambiguously heralded by coincident detection of two photons in the generated signal and idler modes of the system. We calculate the amount of entanglement and probabilities of successfully observing the X (2) macroscopic entangled states in the total wavefunction. We show that the proposed schemes can be used to obtain a new type of macroscopic entangled states. The text was submitted by author in English.  相似文献

Tunable four-photon parametric fluorescence, which is valuable for investigating material nonlinearities and parametric devices, was studied theoretically and experimentally.Theoretical analysis leads to the conclusion that the emitted power depends directly on the focusing of the pumping beam, unlike the process of three-photon parametric fluorescence which is independent of the focusing of the pumping beam. The calculation of the phasematching conditions for nonlinear crystals such as KDP, ADP, TiO2 and CdS shows that collinear phase-matching can be realised over the visible region using a ruby laser for pumping. Experimentally, tunable emission was observed in the visible range from 4200 Å to 5300 Å with KDP and ADP crystals pumped by a Q-switched ruby laser.  相似文献

A self‐phase‐locked degenerate femtosecond optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on the birefringent nonlinear material, bismuth triborate, BiB3O6, synchronously‐pumped by a Kerr‐lens‐mode‐locked Ti:sapphire laser at 800 nm is described. By exploiting versatile phase‐matching properties of BiB3O6, including large spectral and angular acceptance for parametric generation and low group velocity dispersion in the optical xz plane, stable self‐phase‐locked degenerate OPO operation centered at 1600 nm is demonstrated using collinear type I (eoo) interaction in a 1.5‐mm crystal at room temperature. The degenerate OPO output spectrum extends over 46 nm (∼5.4 THz) with 190 fs pulse duration for input pump pulses of 155 fs with a bandwidth of 7 nm. Phase coherence between the pump and degenerate output is verified using f‐2f interferometry, and discrete frequency beats caused by different carrier‐envelope‐offset frequencies are measured using radio frequency measurements. Photo shows a 1.5‐mm BiB3O6 crystal used as a nonlinear gain medium in a degenerate self‐phase‐locked femtosecond OPO operating at room temperature. The green beam is the result of non‐phase‐matched sum‐frequency mixing between the pump light and the sub‐harmonic OPO field at degeneracy.  相似文献

The ultra-broadband phase-sensitive optical parametric amplification and de-amplification of image in a BBO nonlinear crystal with type I phase-matching are theoretically investigated. Amplified images with a gain of 108 and a bandwidth as broad as 420 nm are realized using a 25 GW/cm 2 peak pump-power density with 1.125 ps chirped-pulse duration. The spatial resolution after optical parametric amplification is estimated to be q 0 =200 rad/mm (i.e., 31.8 lines/mm), which corresponds to the size of the minimum resolvable feature of the amplified image ~5 μm.  相似文献

Two experimental techniques for preparing atoms in selected states were combined in order to obtain a highly polarized sodium beam: Firstly state selection by an inhomogeneous magnetic field and secondly optical pumping with laser light. This results in a dominating population of the 3s 2 S 1/2 ground state levelF=2M F=+2 (or alternativelyF=2M F=−2) corresponding to high electron as well as nuclear spin polarization. Polarization values of 0.85±0.05 were easily obtained. The sign of the polarization can be reversed by changing the light polarization. The method can also be applied to other atoms. In addition, it is demonstrated that the optical pumping process allows a determination of the spin-selectivity of hexapole magnets.  相似文献

The intensity fluctuations of the radiation of an optical parametric oscillator have been calculated by taking into account the corresponding fluctuations of the pump light. The latter are shown to have a strong influence on the fluctuations of signal and idler waves. In contrary to the laser case, they are essentially reproduced in the signal and idler radiation; more quantitatively, the correlation function 〈?(t1) ?(t2)〉 where ? denotes the deviation of the amplitude of the signal (or idler) wave from its mean value is, for t1 = t2, equal to the corresponding quantity for the pump wave apart from a reduction factor, whose value depends on the resonator losses and the relative excitation of both the pumping laser and the optical parametric oscillator and is found to be of the order of one for the normal case. It is interesting to note that for sufficiently strong pumping, the correlation function 〈?(t1) ?(t2)〉 approaches the value zero for |t1t2| → ∞ not monotonically but in form of damped oscillations.  相似文献
