Formation mechanisms of metal particles (gold (Au) particles) in an aqueous ethanol solution of HAuCl4 with poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) by the photoreduction method were investigated by UV-vis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and in situ and ex situ X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis. The average diameters of the dilute and concentrated Au particles in PVP solution are estimated from TEM to be 106 A and 925 A, respectively. XAFS analysis was carried out to elucidate the reduction process of AuCl4- ionic species to metallic Au particles for the Au-L3 edge of the colloidal dispersions of the concentrated Au solutions. In the photoreduction process, the reduction of AuCl2- species to Au0 atoms is a slower process than that of AuCl4- to AuCl2-, and the reduction of AuCl2- to Au0 atoms and the association of Au0 atoms to form seed Au particles (particle diameter between 5.5 and 30 A) concurrently proceeds in the short-duration photoirradiation. In addition, in the long-duration photoirradiation, the slow progression of Au particle growth occurs with the association of Au0-Au0 metallic bonds, resulting in the formation of larger Au particles (particle diameter larger than 500 A).  相似文献

Plectonema boryanum UTEX 485, a filamentous cyanobacterium, has been reacted with aqueous Au(S(2)O(3))(2)(3)(-) and AuCl(4)(-) solutions ( approximately 400-550 mg/L Au) at 25-100 degrees C for up to 1 month and at 200 degrees C for 1 day. The interaction of cyanobacteria with aqueous Au(S(2)O(3))(2)(3)(-) promoted the precipitation of cubic (100) gold nanoparticles (<10-25 nm) at membrane vesicles and admixed with gold sulfide within cells and encrusted on the cyanobacteria, whereas reaction with AuCl(4)(-) resulted in the precipitation of octahedral (111) gold platelets ( approximately 1-10 microm) in solutions and nanoparticles of gold (<10 nm) within bacterial cells. Functional groups imaged by negative ion TOF-SIMS on (111) faces of the octahedral platelets were predominantly Cl and CN, with smaller amounts of C(2)H and CNO.  相似文献

The plasma polymerization of aniline on different surface functionlized low-density polyethylene (LDPE) substrates was investigated, and the resulting polymer was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The results showed that the structure of plasma-polymerized polyaniline was rather different from polyaniline synthesized by conventional chemical and electrochemical methods. This difference may be due to extensive coupling reactions and cross-linking reactions during the plasma polymerization process. The use of acrylic acid graft copolymerized LDPE substrate significantly enhanced the adhesion of the polyaniline to the substrate over that observed with pristine LDPE. The plasma polymerized polyaniline can be rendered electrically conductive if the polymerization is carried out on a polystyrenesulfonic acid-coated LDPE substrate. Conductivity can also be induced by acid protonation of the polyaniline by HClO(4). The reaction of the plasma-polymerized polyaniline with viologen grafted on the substrate under UV irradiation and with AuCl(3) and Pd(NO(3))(2) in acid solutions was also investigated.  相似文献

Illumination of air-free aqueous solutions containing sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) and poly(vinyl alcohol) with 350 nm light results in benzophenone ketyl radicals of the polyketone. The polymer radicals form with a quantum yield 0.02 and decay with a second-order rate constant 6 orders of magnitude lower than that of typical alpha-hydroxy radicals. Evidence is presented that the polymeric benzophenone ketyl radicals reduce Ag+, Cu2+, and AuCl4- to metal particles of nanometer dimensions. Decreases in the reduction rates with increasing Ag(I), Cu(II), and Au(III) concentrations are explained using a kinetic model in which the metal ions quench the excited state of the polymeric benzophenone groups, which forms the macromolecular radicals. Quenching is fastest for Ag+, whereas Cu2+ and AuCl4- exhibit similar rate constants. Particle formation becomes more complex as the number of equivalents needed to reduce the metal ions increases; the Au(III) system is an extreme case where the radical reactions operate in parallel with secondary light-initiated and thermal reduction channels. For each metal ion, the polymer-initiated photoreactions produce crystallites possessing distinct properties, such as a very strong plasmon in the Ag case or the narrow size distribution exhibited by Au particles.  相似文献

Bimetallic nanostructures with non-random metal atoms distribution are very important for various applications. To synthesize such structures via benign wet chemistry approach remains challenging. This paper reports a synthesis of a Au/Pd alloy nanostructure through the galvanic replacement reaction between Pd ultrathin nanowires (2.4 +/- 0.2 nm in width, over 30 nm in length) and AuCl3 in toluene. Both morphological and structural changes were monitored during the reaction up to 10 h. Continuous changes of chemical composition and crystalline structure from Pd nanowires to Pd68Au32 and Pd45Au55 alloys, and to Au nanoparticles were observed. More interestingly, by using combined techniques such as high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS), UV-vis absorption, and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy, we found the formation of Pd68Au32 non-random alloy with Au-rich core and Pd-rich shell, and random Pd45Au55 alloy with uniformly mixed Pd and Au atom inside the nanoparticles, respectively. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that alkylamine will strongly stabilize Pd to the surface, resulting in diffusion of Au atoms into the core region to form a non-random alloy. We believe such benign synthetic techniques can also enable the large scale preparation of various types of non-random alloys for several technically important catalysis applications.  相似文献

Fluorescent carbazole-based dipyrazole ligands (H(2)L(1-4)) were employed to coordinate with dipalladium corners ([(phen)(2)Pd(2)(NO(3))(2)](NO(3))(2), [(dmbpy)(2)Pd(2)(NO(3))(2)](NO(3))(2), or [(15-crown-5-phen)(2)Pd(2)(NO(3))(2)](NO(3))(2), where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and dmbpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, in aqueous solution to afford a series of positively charged [M(8)L(4)](8+) or [M(4)L(2)](4+) multimetallomacrocycles with remarkable water solubility. Their structures were characterized by (1)H NMR spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis and in the cases of 1·8BF(4)(-) ([(phen)(8)Pd(8)L(1)(4)](BF(4))(8)), and 3·4BF(4)(-) ([(phen)(4)Pd(4)L(2)(2)](BF(4))(4)) by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 3-8 are square-type hybrid metallomacrocycles, while complexes 1 and 2 exhibit folding cyclic structures. Interestingly, in single-crystal structures of 1·8BF(4)(-) and 3·4BF(4)(-), BF(4)(-) anions are trapped in the dipalladium clips through anion-π interaction. The luminescence properties and interaction toward anions of these metallomacrocycles were discussed.  相似文献

Development of simple and reliable protocols for the synthesis of organically soluble catalytically active metal nanoparticles is an important aspect of research in nanomaterials. We demonstrate herein the formation of Pd nanoparticles by reduction of aqueous Pd(NO(3))(2) by photoexcited Keggin ions (phosphotungstate anions). This results in the formation of Pd nanoparticles capped with with Keggin ions that render the particles negatively charged. The Keggin ion capped Pd nanoparticles may then be phase transferred into nonpolar organic solvents such as toluene by electrostatic complexation with cationic surfactants such as octadecylamine at the liquid-liquid interface. This results in a new class of catalyst wherein both the Pd core and Keggin ion shell may be used in a range of catalytic reactions leading to a truly multifunctional catalyst dispersible in organic solvents.  相似文献

A micelle-based method to synthesize dispersed polyaniline (PANI)-Au composite particles by direct oxidation of aniline using AuCl4- as the oxidant is presented. The obtained composite particles have a core-shell structure, where Au nanoparticles of 20 nm mean diameter are encapsulated by PANI of well-defined tetrahedron shape with 150 nm average edge length. The polaron band of the dispersed PANI-Au composite particles is centered at 745 nm and is rather narrow compared to the broad 835 nm absorption of PANI synthesized by the IUPAC procedure. The surface plasmon absorption of Au nanoparticles normally centered at around 520 nm is absent in the composite particles with oxidized PANI. Our results point to a strong electronic interaction between the encapsulated Au nanoparticles and the shell of oxidized PANI. Films and pellets produced from these composite particles show a twofold higher conductivity than IUPAC PANI.  相似文献

Deprotonation of the phosphine complexes Au(PHR(2))Cl with aqueous ammonia gave the gold(I) phosphido complexes [Au(PR(2))](n)() (PR(2) = PMes(2) (1), PCy(2) (2), P(t-Bu)(2) (3), PIs(2) (4), PPhMes (5), PHMes (6); Mes = 2,4,6-Me(3)C(6)H(2), Is = 2,4,6-(i-Pr)(3)C(6)H(2), Mes = 2,4,6-(t-Bu)(3)C(6)H(2), Cy = cyclo-C(6)H(11)). (31)P NMR spectroscopy showed that these complexes exist in solution as mixtures, presumably oligomeric rings of different sizes. X-ray crystallographic structure determinations on single oligomers of 1-4 revealed rings of varying size (n = 4, 6, 6, and 3, respectively) and conformation. Reactions of 1-3 and 5 with PPN[AuCl(2)] gave PPN[(AuCl)(2)(micro-PR(2))] (9-12, PPN = (PPh(3))(2)N(+)). Treatment of 3 with the reagents HI, I(2), ArSH, LiP(t-Bu)(2), and [PH(2)(t-Bu)(2)]BF(4) gave respectively Au(PH(t-Bu)(2))(I) (14), Au(PI(t-Bu)(2))(I) (15), Au(PH(t-Bu)(2))(SAr) (16, Ar = p-t-BuC(6)H(4)), Li[Au(P(t-Bu)(2))(2)] (17), and [Au(PH(t-Bu)(2))(2)]BF(4) (19).  相似文献

Changing morphology of BaO/Al2O3 during NO2 uptake and release   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The changes in the morphology of Ba-oxide-based NO(x)() storage/reduction catalysts were investigated using time-resolved X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersed spectroscopy. Large Ba(NO(3))(2) crystallites form on the alumina support when the catalyst is prepared by the incipient wetness method using an aqueous Ba(NO(3))(2) solution. Heating the sample to 873 K in a He flow results in the decomposition of the Ba(NO(3))(2) phase and the formation of both a monolayer BaO film strongly interacting with the alumina support and nanocrystalline BaO particles. Upon NO(2) exposure of these BaO phases at room temperature, small (nanosized) Ba(NO(3))(2) crystals and a monolayer of surface nitrate form. Heating this sample in NO(2) results in the coalescence of the nanocrystalline Ba(NO(3))(2) particles into large crystals. The average crystal size in the reformed Ba(NO(3))(2) layer is significantly smaller than that measured after the catalyst preparation. Evidence is also presented for the existence of a monolayer Ba(NO(3))(2) phase after thermal treatment in NO(2), in addition to these large crystals. These results clearly demonstrate the dynamic nature of the Ba-containing phases that are active in the NO(x)() storage/reduction process. The proposed morphology cycle may contribute to the understanding of the changes observed in the performances of these catalysts during actual operating conditions.  相似文献

Various metal-chitosan nanocomposites were synthesized, including silver (Ag), gold (Au), platinum (Pt), and palladium (Pd) in aqueous solutions. Metal nanoparticles were formed by reduction of corresponding metal salts with NaBH4 in the presence of chitosan. And chitosan molecules adsorbing onto the surface of as-prepared metal nanoparticles formed the corresponding metal-chitosan nanocomposites. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images and UV-vis spectra of the nanocomposites revealed the presence of metal nanoparticles. Comparison of all the resulting particles size, it shows that silver nanoparticles are much larger than others (Au, Pt and Pd). In addition, the difference in particles size leads to develop different morphologies in the films cast from prepared metal-chitosan nanocomposites. Polarized optical microscopy (POM) images show a batonet-like structure for Ag-chitosan nanocomposites film, while for the films cast from other metal (Au, Pt, and Pd)-chitosan nanocomposites, some branched-like structures with a few differences among them were observed under POM observation.  相似文献

A novel route to prepare polyaniline (PANI)‐supported Pd(0) nanoparticles by a one‐pot chemical route is presented. Nanosized Pd(0) particles were first prepared by reduction of Pd(OAc)2 using t‐BuONa activated sodium hydride in refluxing THF. A ligand exchange with aniline on t‐BuONa‐stabilized Pd(0) particles yielded aniline‐stabilized particles. Pd(0)/PANI nanocomposites were finally obtained by polymerizing aniline‐stabilized Pd(0) particles using ammonium persulfate. Nanocomposites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Results show that this one‐pot experimental route is successful in producing hybrid materials constituted of Pd(0) nanoparticles stabilized by PANI due to the strong binding of PANI amine groups to Pd(0) particles. TEM images of the nanohybrids show that metal particles with diameters of ca. 4.9 nm are homogeneously dispersed in PANI. The preliminary results indicate that the Pd(0) particles supported on PANI behave as efficient heterogeneous catalysts in the Heck and Suzuki–Miyaura reactions of aryl iodides. The electronic absorption spectrum of trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(NO(2))(P(OEt)(3)](+) in aqueous solution is characterized by a strong absorption band at 334 nm (lambda(max) = 1800 mol(-1) L cm(-1)). On the basis of quantum mechanics calculations, this band has been assigned to a MLCT transition from the metal to the nitro ligand. Molecular orbital calculations also predict an LF transition at 406 nm, which is obscured by the intense MLCT transition. When trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(NO(2))(P(OEt)(3)](+) in acetonitrile is irradiated with a 355 nm pulsed laser light, the absorption features are gradually shifted to represent those of the solventocomplex trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(solv)(P(OEt)(3)](2+) (lambda(max) = 316 nm, epsilon = 650 mol(-1) L cm(-1)), which was also detected by (31)P NMR spectroscopy. The net photoreaction under these conditions is a photoaquation of trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(NO(2))(P(OEt)(3)](+), although, after photolysis, the presence of the nitric oxide was detected by differential pulse polarography. In phosphate buffer pH 9.0, after 15 min of photolysis, a thermal reaction resulted in the formation of a hydroxyl radical and a small amount of a paramagnetic species as detected by EPR spectroscopy. In the presence of trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(solv)P(OEt)(3)](2+), the hydroxyl radical initiated a chain reaction. On the basis of spectroscopic and electrochemical data, the role of the radicals produced is analyzed and a reaction sequence consistent with the experimental results is proposed. The 355 nm laser photolysis of trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(NO(2))(P(OEt)(3)](+) in phosphate buffer pH 7.4 also gives nitric oxide, which is readily trapped by ferrihemeproteins (myoglobin, hemoglobin, and cytochrome C), giving rise to the formation of their nitrosylhemeproteins(II), (NO)Fe(II)hem.  相似文献

The deposition of palladium as microparticles on electrogenerated polyaniline (PAni) films accomplished by metal electroless precipitation or by electrodeposition has been used to prepare stable polymer-modified electrode systems. Its general morphology, metal particles size and distribution were obtained by AFM analysis. The PAni/Pd microparticles electrodes have been evaluated for their catalytic activity towards hydrogenation reactions upon organic compounds reduction using 4-nitro-benzaldehyde. Studies on rotating ring-disk electrodes have shown that relatively low Pd loadings are required to obtain effective electrocatalytic activity, provided a good metal particles dispersion of about 100 nm diameter is observed. This work demonstrated a facile route to the synthesis of polyaniline (PANI) nanofibers by polymerization of aniline using chloroaurate acid (HAuCl(4)) as the oxidant. The reduction of AuCl(4)(-) is accompanied by oxidative polymerization of aniline, leading to uniform PANI nanofibers with a diameter of 35 +/- 5 nm and aggregated gold nanoparticles which can precipitate from the liquid phase during the reaction. The resultant PANI nanofibers and gold particles were characterized by means of different techniques, such as UV-vis, FTIR spectroscopy, and scanning and transmission electron microscopy methods. It is found that the gold aggregates are capped with polyaniline, and the conductivity of the fibers is around 0.16 S/cm.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticle-doped poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2VP) microcapsules and foam films were synthesized and assembled at the P2VP chloroform solution/HAuCl(4) aqueous solution interface at 25 °C. It was found that Au nanoparticles with the average diameter of 2.1 nm were homogeneously embedded in and adsorbed on the walls of the capsules and foams, the nanoparticles were composed of Au(0) and Au(III) with the molar ratio of about 75/25, and the mass percent of Au elements was measured to be 19.65%. The formation of the nanostructures was attributed to the self-assembly of P2VP at the liquid/liquid interface, the simultaneous reduction of AuCl(4)(-) ions by a small amount of ethanol in the chloroform and adsorption of AuCl(4)(-) ions. After irradiated by UV-light for 1h, the average diameter of the nanoparticles was found to be 2.2 nm, and the AuCl(4)(-) ions were transformed to Au(0) completely. The catalytic performance of these composite nanostructures were evaluated by using the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) by potassium borohydride in aqueous solutions. The catalytic activity was very high in the first cycle, decreased rapidly and slightly in the second and third cycles, respectively, due to the aggregation of some nanoparticles, and stabilized after the third cycle.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles (<2 nm) stabilized by poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (Au:PVP NPs) were prepared by reduction of AuCl4- with NaBH4 in the presence of PVP and characterized via an array of methods including optical absorption spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption near-edge structure, extended X-ray absorption fine structure, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We demonstrate for the first time that the Au:PVP NPs act as catalyst toward homocoupling of phenylboronic acid in water under aerobic conditions. Suppression of biphenyl formation under anaerobic conditions indicates that molecular oxygen dissolved in water is intimately involved in the coupling reactions. A mechanism of the aerobic homocoupling catalyzed by the Au:PVP NPs is proposed on the basis of a crucial role of dissolved oxygen, steric effects on the product yields, and the well-established mechanism for the Pd(II)-based catalysts.  相似文献

Au particles (mean size ca. 3 nm) supported on TiO(2) particles were irradiated by UV light (>300 nm) in aqueous solutions at 278 K. Photo-induced dissolution of Au nanoparticles followed by redeposition occurred in aqueous solutions containing halogen ions. The dissolution of Au nanoparticles yielded a Au(III) complex with a halogen ion; subsequent reduction of the Au(III) complex caused precipitation of larger Au particles on TiO(2).  相似文献
