Let (T, , P) be a probability space, a P-complete sub-δ-algebra of and X a Banach space. Let multifunction t → Γ(t), t T, have a (X)-measurable graph and closed convex subsets of X for values. If x(t) ε Γ(t) P-a.e. and y(·) ε Ep x(·), then y(t) ε Γ(t) P-a.e. Conversely, x(t) ε F(Γ(t), y(t)) P-a.e., where F(Γ(t), y(t)) is the face of point y(t) in Γ(t). If X = , then the same holds true if Γ(t) is Borel and convex, only. These results imply, in particular, extensions of Jensen's inequality for conditional expectations of random convex functions and provide a complete characterization of the cases when the equality holds in the extended Jensen inequality.  相似文献

Treated in this paper is the problem of estimating with squared error loss the generalized variance | Σ | from a Wishart random matrix S: p × p Wp(n, Σ) and an independent normal random matrix X: p × k N(ξ, Σ Ik) with ξ(p × k) unknown. Denote the columns of X by X(1) ,…, X(k) and set ψ(0)(S, X) = {(np + 2)!/(n + 2)!} | S |, ψ(i)(X, X) = min[ψ(i−1)(S, X), {(np + i + 2)!/(n + i + 2)!} | S + X(1) X(1) + + X(i) X(i) |] and Ψ(i)(S, X) = min[ψ(0)(S, X), {(np + i + 2)!/(n + i + 2)!}| S + X(1) X(1) + + X(i) X(i) |], i = 1,…,k. Our result is that the minimax, best affine equivariant estimator ψ(0)(S, X) is dominated by each of Ψ(i)(S, X), i = 1,…,k and for every i, ψ(i)(S, X) is better than ψ(i−1)(S, X). In particular, ψ(k)(S, X) = min[{(np + 2)!/(n + 2)!} | S |, {(np + 2)!/(n + 2)!} | S + X(1)X(1)|,…,| {(np + k + 2)!/(n + k + 2)!} | S + X(1)X(1) + + X(k)X(k)|] dominates all other ψ's. It is obtained by considering a multivariate extension of Stein's result (Ann. Inst. Statist. Math. 16, 155–160 (1964)) on the estimation of the normal variance.  相似文献

We show that for every Borel-measurable mapping Δ: [ω]ω → there exists A [ω]ω and there exists a continuous mapping Γ: [A]ω → [A]ω with Γ(X) X such that for all X, Y [A]ω it follows that Δ(X) = Δ(Y) if Γ(X) = Γ(Y). In a sense, this is generalization of the Erdös-Rado canonization theorem  相似文献

In this paper, which is a continuation of Timofte (J. Approx. Theory 119 (2002) 291–299, we give special uniform approximations of functions from CXY(T×S) and C(T×S,XY) by elements of the tensor products CX(T)CY(S), respectively C0(T,X)C0(S,Y), for topological spaces T,S and Γ-locally convex spaces X,Y (all four being Hausdorff).  相似文献

In this paper, we give special uniform approximations of functions u from the spaces CX(T) and C(T,X), with elements of the tensor products CΓ(T)X, respectively C0(T,Γ)X, for a topological space T and a Γ-locally convex space X. We call an approximation special, if satisfies additional constraints, namely supp vu−1(X\{0}) and (T) co(u(T)) (resp. co(u(T){0})). In Section 3, we give three distinct applications, which are due exactly to these constraints: a density result with respect to the inductive limit topology, a Tietze–Dugundji's type extension new theorem and a proof of Schauder–Tihonov's fixed point theorem.  相似文献

We consider a positive self-adjoint operator A and formal rank one perturbations B = A + α(φ, ·)φ, where φ −2(A) but φ −1 (A), with s(A) the usual scale of spaces. We show that B can be defined for such φ and what are essentially negative infinitesimal values of α. In a sense we will make precise, every rank one perturbation is one of three forms: (i) φ −1(A), α ; (ii) φ −1, α = ∞; or (iii) the new type we consider here.  相似文献

On a simplex SRd, the best polynomial approximation is En()Lp(S)=Inf{PnLp(S): Pn of total degree n}. The Durrmeyer modification, Mn, of the Bernstein operator is a bounded operator on Lp(S) and has many “nice” properties, most notably commutativity and self-adjointness. In this paper, relations between Mn−z.dfnc;Lp(S) and E[√n]()Lp(S) will be given by weak inequalities will imply, for 0<α<1 and 1≤p≤∞, En()Lp(S)=O(n-2α)Mn−z.dfnc;Lp(S)=O(n). We also see how the fact that P(DLp(S) for the appropriate P(D) affects directional smoothness.  相似文献

Let Xi, i ≥ 1, be a sequence of φ-mixing random variables with values in a sample space (X, A). Let L(Xi) = P(i) for all i ≥ 1 and let n, n ≥ 1, be classes of real-valued measurable functions on (X, A). Given any function g on (X, A), let Sn(g) = Σi = 1n {g(Xi) − Eg(Xi)}. Under weak metric entropy conditions on n and under growth conditions on both the mixing coefficients and the maximal variance V V(n) maxi ≤ n supg ng2 dP(i), we show that there is a numerical constant U < ∞ such that
a.s. *, where i = 1xP(i) and H H(n) is the square root of the entropy of the class n. Additionally, the rate of convergence H−1(n/V)1/2 cannot, in general, be improved upon. Applications of this result are considered.  相似文献

We show that the passage time, T*(r), of a random walk Sn above a horizontal boundary at r (r≥0) is stable (in probability) in the sense that as r→∞ for a deterministic function C(r)>0, if and only if the random walk is relatively stable in the sense that as n→∞ for a deterministic sequence Bn>0. The stability of a passage time is an important ingredient in some proofs in sequential analysis, where it arises during applications of Anscombe's Theorem. We also prove a counterpart for the almost sure stability of T*(r), which we show is equivalent to E|X|<∞, EX>0. Similarly, counterparts for the exit of the random walk from the strip {|y|≤r} are proved. The conditions arefurther related to the relative stability of the maximal sum and the maximum modulus of the sums. Another result shows that the exit position of the random walk outside the boundaries at ±r drifts to ∞ as r→∞ if and only if the random walk drifts to ∞.  相似文献

The paper deals with problems relating to the theory of Hankel operators. Let G be a bounded simple connected domain with the boundary Γ consisting of a closed analytic Jordan curve. Denote by n,p(G), 1p<∞, the class of all meromorphic functions on G that can be represented in the form h=β/α, where β belongs to the Smirnov class Ep(G), α is a polynomial degree at most n, α0. We obtain estimates of s-numbers of the Hankel operator Af constructed from fLp(Γ), 1p<∞, in terms of the best approximation Δn,p of f in the space Lp(Γ) by functions belonging to the class n,p(G).  相似文献

The power series spaces of finite type, A1(α), and infinite type, A(α), are the most known and important examples of non-Archimedean nuclear Fréchet spaces. We study when (α) has a subspace (or quotient) isomorphic to Aq(b).  相似文献

Starting with a subgeometry Ω embedded in a β-dimensional projective space PG(β, q), β 1, we construct inductively a series of rank n residually connected geometries Γ(n, β, Ω), n β, by putting Γ(β, β, Ω) = Ω and extending Γ(n - 1, β, Ω) with a partial geometry.  相似文献

For a bounded linear injectionCon a Banach spaceXand a closed linear operatorA : D(A) XXwhich commutes withCwe prove that (1) the abstract Cauchy problem,u″(t) = Au(t),t R,u(0) = Cx,u′(0) = Cy, has a unique strong solution for everyx,y D(A) if and only if (2)A1 = AD(A2) generates aC1-cosine function onX1(D(A) with the graph norm), if (and only if, in caseAhas nonempty resolvent set) (3)Agenerates aC-cosine function onX. HereC1 = CX1. Under the assumption thatAis densely defined andC−1AC = A, statement (3) is also equivalent to each of the following statements: (4) the problemv″(t) = Av(t) + C(x + ty) + ∫t0 Cg(r) dr,t R,v(0) = v′(0) = 0, has a unique strong solution for everyg L1locandx, y X; (5) the problemw″(t) = Aw(t) + Cg(t),t R,w(0) = Cx,w′(0) = Cy, has a unique weak solution for everyg L1locandx, y X. Finally, as an application, it is shown that for any bounded operatorBwhich commutes withCand has range contained in the range ofC,A + Bis also a generator.  相似文献

We consider asymptotic expansions for sums Sn on the form Sn = ƒ0(X0) + ƒ(X1, X0) + … + ƒ(Xn, Xn−1), where Xi is a Markov chain. Under different ergodicity conditions on the Markov chain and certain conditional moment conditions on ƒ(Xi, Xi−1), a simple representation of the characteristic function of Sn is obtained. The representation is in term of the maximal eigenvalue of the linear operator sending a function g(x) into the function xE(g(Xi)exp[itƒ(Xi, x)]|Xi−1 = x).  相似文献

Certain path properties of a symmetric α-stable process X(t) = ∫Sh(t, s) dM(s), t T, are studied in terms of the kernel h. The existence of an appropriate modification of the kernel h enables one to use results from stable measures on Banach spaces in studying X. Bounds for the moments of the norm of sample paths of X are obtained. This yields definite bounds for the moments of a double α-stable integral. Also, necessary and sufficient conditions for the absolute continuity of sample paths of X are given. Along with the above stochastic integral representation of stable processes, the representation of stable random vectors due to[13], Ann. Probab.9, 624–632) is extensively used and the relationship between these two representations is discussed.  相似文献

The behavior of the posterior for a large observation is considered. Two basic situations are discussed; location vectors and natural parameters.Let X = (X1, X2, …, Xn) be an observation from a multivariate exponential distribution with that natural parameter Θ = (Θ1, Θ2, …, Θn). Let θx* be the posterior mode. Sufficient conditions are presented for the distribution of Θ − θx* given X = x to converge to a multivariate normal with mean vector 0 as |x| tends to infinity. These same conditions imply that E(Θ | X = x) − θx* converges to the zero vector as |x| tends to infinity. The posterior for an observation X = (X1, X2, …, Xn is considered for a location vector Θ = (Θ1, Θ2, …, Θn) as x gets large along a path, γ, in Rn. Sufficient conditions are given for the distribution of γ(t) − Θ given X = γ(t) to converge in law as t → ∞. Slightly stronger conditions ensure that γ(t) − E(Θ | X = γ(t)) converges to the mean of the limiting distribution. These basic results about the posterior mean are extended to cover other estimators. Loss functions which are convex functions of absolute error are considered. Let δ be a Bayes estimator for a loss function of this type. Generally, if the distribution of Θ − E(Θ | X = γ(t)) given X = γ(t) converges in law to a symmetric distribution as t → ∞, it is shown that δ(γ(t)) − E(Θ | X = γ(t)) → 0 as t → ∞.  相似文献

Let (Vn, g) be a C compact Riemannian manifold. For a suitable function on Vn, let us consider the change of metric: g′ = g + Hess(), and the function, as a ratio of two determinants, M() = ¦g′¦ ¦g¦−1. Using the method of continuity, we first solve in C the problem: Log M() = λ + ƒ, λ > 0, ƒ ε C. Then, under weak hypothesis on F, we solve the general equation: Log M() = F(P, ), F in C(Vn × ¦α, β¦), using a method of iteration. Our study gives rise to an interesting a priori estimate on ¦¦, which does not occur in the complex case. This estimate should enable us to solve the equation above when λ 0, providing we can overcome difficulties related to the invertibility of the linearised operator. This open question will be treated in our next article.  相似文献

Let T = {T(t)}t ≥ 0 be a C0-semigroup on a Banach space X. In this paper, we study the relations between the abscissa ωLp(T) of weak p-integrability of T (1 ≤ p < ∞), the abscissa ωpR(A) of p-boundedness of the resolvent of the generator A of T (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞), and the growth bounds ωβ(T), β ≥ 0, of T. Our main results are as follows.
1. (i) Let T be a C0-semigroup on a B-convex Banach space such that the resolvent of its generator is uniformly bounded in the right half plane. Then ω1 − ε(T) < 0 for some ε > 0.
2. (ii) Let T be a C0-semigroup on Lp such that the resolvent of the generator is uniformly bounded in the right half plane. Then ωβ(T) < 0 for all β>¦1/p − 1/p′¦, 1/p + 1/p′ = 1.
3. (iii) Let 1 ≤ p ≤ 2 and let T be a weakly Lp-stable C0-semigroup on a Banach space X. Then for all β>1/p we have ωβ(T) ≤ 0.
Further, we give sufficient conditions in terms of ωqR(A) for the existence of Lp-solutions and W1,p-solutions (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞) of the abstract Cauchy problem for a general class of operators A on X.  相似文献

Let Ω be a plane bounded region. Let U = {Uμ(P):μ(PL∞(Ω), uμ ε H22, 0(Ω) and a(P, μ(P))uμ,xx + 2b(P, μ(P))uμ,xy + c(P, μ(P))uμ,vv = ƒ(P) for P ε Ω; here we are given a(P, X), b(P, X), c(P, X) ε L(Ω × E1), ƒ(P) ε Lp(Ω) with p > 2, and our partial differential equation is uniformly elliptic. The functions μ(P) are called profiles. We establish sufficient conditions—which when they apply are constructive—that there exist a μ0 ε L(Ω) such that uμ0 (P) uμ(P) for all P ε Ω and for each μ ε L(Ω). Similar results are obtained for a difference equation and convergence is proved.  相似文献
