An exact solution of Einstein’s equations representing the static gravitational field of a quasi-spherical source endowed with both mass and mass quadrupole moment is considered. It belongs to the Weyl class of solutions and reduces to the Schwarzschild solution when the quadrupole moment vanishes. The geometric properties of timelike circular orbits (including geodesics) in this spacetime are investigated. Moreover, a comparison between geodesic motion in the spacetime of a quasi-spherical source and non-geodesic motion of an extended body also endowed with both mass and mass quadrupole moment as described by Dixon’s model in the gravitational field of a Schwarzschild black hole is discussed. Certain “reciprocity relations” between the source and the particle parameters are obtained, providing a further argument in favor of the acceptability of Dixon’s model for extended bodies in general relativity.  相似文献

The Schwarzschild solution has played a fundamental conceptual role in general relativity, and beyond, for instance, regarding event horizons, spacetime singularities and aspects of quantum field theory in curved spacetimes. However, one still encounters the existence of misconceptions and a certain ambiguity inherent in the Schwarzschild solution in the literature. By taking into account the point of view of an observer in the interior of the event horizon, one verifies that new conceptual difficulties arise. In this work, besides providing a very brief pedagogical review, we further analyze the interior Schwarzschild black hole solution. Firstly, by deducing the interior metric by considering time-dependent metric coefficients, the interior region is analyzed without the prejudices inherited from the exterior geometry. We also pay close attention to several respective cosmological interpretations, and briefly address some of the difficulties associated to spacetime singularities. Secondly, we deduce the conserved quantities of null and timelike geodesics, and discuss several particular cases in some detail. Thirdly, we examine the Eddington–Finkelstein and Kruskal coordinates directly from the interior solution. In concluding, it is important to emphasize that the interior structure of realistic black holes has not been satisfactorily determined, and is still open to considerable debate.  相似文献

The existence and stability under linear perturbation of closed timelike curves in the spacetime associated to Schwarzschild black hole pierced by a spinning string are studied. Due to the superposition of the black hole, we find that the spinning string spacetime is deformed in such a way to allow the existence of closed timelike geodesics.  相似文献

Some properties related to the NUT--Taub-like spacetime, such as the surface of infinite red-shift, horizon, singularity and the area of the NUT--Taub-like black hole are discussed. Furthermore, the geodesics in the NUT--Taub-like spacetime are obtained in some special cases. Specifically, the circular orbits for a massive particle are derived, which can reduce to the cases of the Schwarzschild spacetime and the NUT--Taub spacetime when m*=0 and m*\ll M, respectively.  相似文献

We study circular time-like geodesics in the spacetime of a black hole including global monopole. We show that when the range of parameter changed the properties of the circular geodesics and the radiation of accretion disks are different. It follows that the properties of the accretion disk around black hole including global monopole can be different from that of a disk around Schwarzschild black hole.  相似文献

We use a new, conformally invariant method of analysis to test incomplete null geodesics approaching the singularity in a model of an evaporating black hole for the possibility of extensions of the conformal metric. In general, a local conformal extension is possible from the future but not from the past.  相似文献

We study the spin precession frequency of a test gyroscope attached to a stationary observer in the five-dimensional rotating Kaluza-Klein black hole(RKKBH). We derive the conditions under which the test gyroscope moves along a timelike trajectory in this geometry, and the regions where the spin precession frequency diverges. The magnitude of the gyroscope precession frequency around the KK black hole diverges at two spatial locations outside the event horizon. However, in the static case, the behavior of the Lense-Thirring frequency of a gyroscope around the KK black hole is similar to the ordinary Schwarzschild black hole. Since a rotating Kaluza-Klein black hole is a generalization of the Kerr-Newman black hole, we present two mass-independent schemes to distinguish these two spacetimes.  相似文献

We have investigated the equations of geodesics for the black hole solution suggested in [1] in the Randall-Sundrum model with one brane. Being a generalization of the Schwarzschild metric, this solution has a structure like the Reissner-Nordström one, with the “tidal charge” replacing the electric charge. Following our investigation of the behavior of geodesics, we have shown that this solution is consistent with observational data, without predicting the appearance of any fundamentally new effects. A more accurate constraint on the tidal charge is obtained by analyzing circular orbits.  相似文献

The geodesic properties of the stationary vacuum string solution in (4+1) dimensions with momentum flow along the string direction are analyzed by using Hamilton-Jacobi method. The geodesic motions show distinct properties from those of the static one. Especially, any freely falling particle can not arrive at the horizon or singularity. To get into the horizon, a particle need to follow a non-geodesic trajectory. There exist stable null circular orbits and bouncing timelike and null geodesics. In the asymptotic geometry, some geodesics will be repelled by the string contrary to the case of Kerr-Neumann black hole. The light bending effect will be minimized at an impact parameter determined by the angular momentum and energy.  相似文献

We have studied the null geodesics of the Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence matter. Quintessence matter is a candidate for dark energy. Here, we have done a detailed analysis of the geodesics and exact solutions are presented in terms of Jacobi-elliptic integrals for all possible energy and angular momentum of the photons. The circular orbits of the photons are studied in detail. As an application of the null geodesics, the angle of deflection of the photons are computed.  相似文献

Perhaps one of the main reasons for believing in the cosmic censorship hypothesis is the disquieting nature of the alternative: the existence of naked singularities, and hence loss of predictability, the possibility of closed timelike lines, and so forth. The consequences of assuming the cosmic censorship hypothesis can also be somewhat strange and unexpected. In particular, we apply Hawking's black hole area theorem to the study of particle orbits near a Schwarzschild black hole. If the cosmic censorship hypothesis (and hence the area theorem) is true, then there exist stable near-circular orbits arbitrarily close to the horizon atr=2M.This essay was awarded the third prize for 1978 by the Gravity Research Foundation. We formulate the concept of time machine structure for spacetimes exhibiting a compactly constructed region with closed timelike curves. After reviewing essential properties of the pseudo Schwarzschild spacetime introduced by Ori, we present an analysis of its geodesics analogous to the one conducted in the case of the Schwarzschild spacetime. We conclude that the pseudo Schwarzschild spacetime is geodesically incomplete and not extendible to a complete spacetime. We then introduce a rotating generalization of the pseudo Schwarzschild metric, which we call the pseudo Kerr spacetime. We establish its time machine structure and analyze its global properties.

In this work we investigate the consequences of running gravitational coupling on the properties of rotating black holes. Apart from the changes induced in the space-time structure of such black holes, we also study the implications to Penrose process and geodetic precession. We are motivated by the functional form of gravitational coupling previously investigated in the context of infra-red limit of asymptotic safe gravity theory. In this approach, the involvement of a new parameter \({\tilde{\xi }}\) in this solution makes it different from Schwarzschild black hole. The Killing horizon, event horizon and singularity of the computed metric is then discussed. It is noticed that the ergosphere is increased as \({\tilde{\xi }}\) increases. Considering the black hole solution in equatorial plane, the geodesics of particles, both null and time like cases, are explored. The effective potential is computed and graphically analyzed for different values of parameter \({\tilde{\xi }}\). The energy extraction from black hole is investigated via Penrose process. For the same values of spin parameter, the numerical results suggest that the efficiency of Penrose process is greater in quantum corrected gravity than in Kerr Black Hole. At the end, a brief discussion on Lense–Thirring frequency is also done.  相似文献

We derive the metric for a Schwarzschild black hole with global monopole charge by relaxing asymptotic flatness of the Schwarzschild field. We then study the effect of global monopole charge on particle orbits and the Hawking radiation. It turns out that existence, boundedness and stability of circular orbits scale up by (1−8πη 2)−1, and the perihelion shift and the light bending by (1−8πη 2)−3/2, while the Hawking temperature scales down by (1−8πη 2)2 the Schwarzschild values. Hereη is the global charge.  相似文献

We study the relativistic orbit of binary black holes in systems with small mass ratio. The trajectory of the smaller object (another black hole or a neutron star), represented as a particle, is determined by the geodesic equation on the perturbed massive black hole spacetime. Here we study perturbations around a Schwarzschild black hole using Moncrief's gauge invariant formalism. We decompose the perturbations into l multipoles to show that all l-metric coefficients are C0 at the location of the particle. Summing over l, to reconstruct the full metric, gives a formally divergent result. We succeed in bringing this sum to a Riemann's zeta-function regularization scheme and numerically compute the first-order geodesics.  相似文献

We consider the Schwarzschild black hole and show how, in a theory with limiting curvature, the physical singularity “inside it” is removed. The resulting spacetime is geodesically complete. The internal structure of this nonsingular black hole is analogous to Russian nesting dolls. Namely, after falling into the black hole of radius \(r_{g}\), an observer, instead of being destroyed at the singularity, gets for a short time into the region with limiting curvature. After that he re-emerges in the near horizon region of a spacetime described by the Schwarzschild metric of a gravitational radius proportional to \(r_{g}^{1/3}\). In the next cycle, after passing the limiting curvature, the observer finds himself within a black hole of even smaller radius proportional to \(r_{g}^{1/9}\), and so on. Finally after a few cycles he will end up in the spacetime where he remains forever at limiting curvature.  相似文献

We investigate the late-time evolution of theYang-Mills field in the self-gravitating backgrounds:Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstrom spacetimes. Thelate-time power-law tails develop in the threeasymptotic regions: the future timelike infinity, thefuture null infinity and the black hole horizon. Inthese two backgrounds, however, the late-time evolutionhas quantitative and qualitative differences. In the Schwarzschild black hole background, thelate-time tails of the Yang-Mills field are the same asthose of the neutral massless scalar field withmultipole moment l = 1. The late-time evolutionis dominated by the spacetime curvature. When the backgroundis the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole, the late-timetails have not only a smaller power-law exponent, butalso an oscillatory factor. The late-time evolution is dominated by the self-interacting term ofthe Yang-Mills field. The cause responsible for thedifferences is revealed.  相似文献

In this article, we study the circular motion of particles and the well-known Penrose mechanism around a Kerr-Newman-Kasuya black hole spacetime. The inner and outer horizons, as well as ergosurfaces of the said black hole, are briefly examined under the effect of spin and dyonic charge. Moreover, by limiting our exploration to the equatorial plane, we discuss the characteristics of circular geodesics and investigate both photons, as well as marginally stable circular orbits. It is noted that black hole charge diminishing the radii of photon and marginally stable circular orbits. To investigate the nature of particle dynamics, we studied the effective potential and Lyapunov exponent. While inspecting the process of energy extraction, we derived the Wald inequality, which can help us to locate the energy limits of the Penrose process. Furthermore, we have found expressions for the negative energy states and the efficiency of energy extraction. The obtained result illustrates that both black hole rotation and dyonic charge contributes to the efficiency of energy extraction.  相似文献
