We investigate the three-dimensional(3D) scattering problem of an incident plane shear horizontal wave by a partly through-thickness hole in an isotropic plate,in which the Lamb wave modes are also included due to the mode conversions by the scattering obstacle in the 3D problem. An analytical model is presented such that the wave fields are expanded in all of propagating and evanescent SH modes and Lamb modes, and the scattered far-fields of three fundamental guided wave modes are analyzed numerically for different sizes of the holes and frequencies. The numerical results are verified by comparing with those obtained by using the approximate Poisson/Mindlin plate model for small hole radius and low frequency. It is also found that the scattering patterns are different from those of the SO wave incidence. Our work is useful for quantitative evaluation of the plate-like structure by ultrasonic guided waves.  相似文献

The three-dimensional problem of the sound wave scattering by a compact obstacle of a general form in an Uflyand-Mindlin plate is considered. A formula that expresses the scattering field in terms of the analytic continuation of the directivity pattern is derived, and the formulas that describe the coupling of the scattering channels and allow the calculation of the surface wave amplitudes from the residues of the directivity pattern are obtained. For the case of nonradiating obstacles, the uniqueness of the solution to the scattering problem in the absence of absorption is established. An example of a localized shear wave is presented.  相似文献

The propagation of thermoelastic waves in a homogeneous isotropic, thermally conducting plate bordered with layers of inviscid liquid or half-space of inviscid liquid on both sides is investigated in the context of generalized theories of thermoelasticity. Secular equations for the plate in closed form and isolated mathematical conditions for symmetric and antisymmetric wave modes in completely separate terms are derived. The results for coupled and uncoupled theories of thermoelasticity have been obtained as particular cases. The different regions of secular equations are obtained and special cases, such as Lame modes, thin plate waves and short wavelength waves of the secular equations are also discussed. The secular equations for thermoelastic leaky Lamb waves are also obtained and deduced. The amplitudes of displacement components and temperature change have also been computed and studied. Finally, the numerical solution is carried out for an aluminum-epoxy composite and aluminum materials plate bordered with water. The dispersion curves for symmetric and antisymmetric thermoelastic wave modes and amplitudes of displacement and temperature change in case of fundamental symmetric (S0) and skew symmetric (A0) modes are presented in order to illustrate and compare the theoretical results. The theory and numerical computations are found to be in close agreement. The results have been deduced and compared with the relevant publications available in the literature at the relevant stages of the work.  相似文献

Reflection of zero-order normal acoustic waves excited in a thin piezoelectric plate from a set of conducting strips of a finite thickness is studied both theoretically and experimentally. The analysis shows that the effects produced by the short-circuiting of the plate surface and by the elastic load on the impedance ratio of adjacent plate segments are in opposition to each other. These effects can be commensurable, and, hence, for each wave type, there is a certain value of the strip thickness at which the reflection coefficient becomes equal to zero. The experimental results obtained for a shear horizontal normal wave (an SH 0 wave) propagating in a lithium niobate plate are in good agreement with the theory and justify the use of the equivalent-circuit model in analyzing the properties of reflectors of the type under study.  相似文献

This paper examines the sound insulation of a single-leaf wall driven by a spherical wave. The transmitted sound field of an infinite elastic plate under a spherical wave incidence is theoretically analyzed and insulation mechanisms are considered. The displacement of the plate is formulated using the Hankel transform in wavenumber space and the transmitted sound pressure in the far-field is obtained by Rayleigh’s formula in an explicit closed form. Moreover, a reduction index is also derived in a closed form by introducing an approximation into the vibration characteristics of the plate. Deterioration of the insulation performance under the spherical wave incidence is caused by an apparent decrease of wall impedance that depends on the directivity of the transmitted sound wave. The mass law for a spherical wave incidence is different from that for a normal plane wave incidence: doubling the weight of the wall or the frequency gives an increase of 3 dB (c.f. 6 dB for a normal plane wave incidence), which is also smaller than the field incidence mass law.  相似文献

An analytical solution is presented in this paper for the vibration response of a ribbed plate clamped on all its boundary edges by employing a traveling wave solution. A clamped ribbed plate test rig is also assembled in this study for the experimental investigation of the ribbed plate response and to provide verification results to the analytical solution. The dynamic characteristics and mode shapes of the ribbed plate are measured and compared to those obtained from the analytical solution and from finite element analysis (FEA). General good agreements are found between the results. Discrepancies between the computational and experimental results at low and high frequencies are also discussed. Explanations are offered in the study to disclose the mechanism causing the discrepancies. The dependency of the dynamic response of the ribbed plate on the distance between the excitation force and the rib is also investigated experimentally. It confirms the findings disclosed in a previous analytical study [T.R. Lin, J. Pan, A closed form solution for the dynamic response of finite ribbed plates, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America 119 (2006) 917–925] that the vibration response of a clamped ribbed plate due to a point force excitation is controlled by the plate stiffness when the source is more than a quarter plate bending wavelength away from the rib and from the plate boundary. The response is largely affected by the rib stiffness when the source location is less than a quarter bending wavelength away from the rib.  相似文献

The effect of a perfectly elastic nonviscous nonconducting liquid on the characteristics of a zero-order antisymmetric Lamb wave (the A 0 wave) in a 128YX LiNbO3 plate, whose thickness is small compared to the wavelength, is studied both theoretically and experimentally. A method for calculating the velocity and attenuation of this wave depending on the value of the parameter hf (h is the plate thickness and f is the wave frequency) is proposed. In addition, the characteristics of an A 0 wave in a piezoelectric plate that is in contact with two different perfectly elastic nonviscous nonconducting liquids on its two sides are investigated. A possibility for the development of a proximate analyzer of liquids on the basis of such a structure is indicated.  相似文献

This paper presents a new experimental measurement method for leaky Lamb waves propagating in a piezoelectric plate immersed in a conductive fluid. The measurement system is a low-frequency version of lens-less acoustic microscopy which has been developed based on a line-focus double-layer PVDF transducer. The transducer and its defocusing measurement system can perform V(z) measurements on a sample plate immersed in a fluid, and therefore can obtain the leaky Lamb wave velocities with high accuracy. An X-cut LiNbO3 plate is investigated with this experimental measurement system to find out its fluid-loading effects, especially the conductive loading effects by water of various conductivities. Angular dependence of this conductive loading effect along different propagating directions on the X-cut LiNbO3 plate is measured. It is found out the conductive loading effects are strongly dependent on the piezoelectric coupling factor. Theoretical calculations based on partial wave theory have also been carried out and compared with experimental data. Good agreements have been observed.  相似文献

Interference of longitudinal acoustic waves propagating in opposite directions in a homogeneous isotropic absorbing plate and a periodic structure with a defect is considered theoretically. The periodic structure consists of alternating absorbing solid and transparent liquid layers. The defect is modeled by replacing a solid layer by a liquid layer of the same thickness. The dependences of the transmission spectrum of the energy flux on the amplitude ratio and phase difference of the interacting waves are studied. It is shown that, by varying the parameters of the opposite pressure wave, it is possible to change the transmission spectrum of the direct wave in a wide frequency range. An expression is obtained to determine the extremums of the wave amplitude transmitted through an absorbing plate depending on the amplitude ratio of the interacting waves. The results of studying a one-dimensional periodic structure demonstrate the possibility to considerably change the transmission spectrum of the pressure wave leaving the structure and also to eliminate the invariance of this spectrum under the interchange of the kth and (n?k+1)th layers (where n is the total number of layers in the structure).  相似文献

The pulsed mode of operation of a water-loaded piezoelectric plate is considered. Parallel or series RL circuits are connected to the plate, while the latter is excited by a voltage source with internal resistance R i . The exciting pulse is preset in the form of a half-period of sinusoidal voltage with frequency equal to the antiresonance frequency of the plate. The optimal (from the point of view of obtaining the minimum duration of the emitted pulse) values of the parameters characterizing each of the emitting systems are calculated. Comparative estimates of the durations and amplitudes of emitted pulses are presented for all cases of using the RL circuits under study.  相似文献

In this work, the influence of interface reflections on the microwave reflection loss (RL) for carbonyl iron/paraffin composite backed by a perfect conduction plate with 30 vol% concentration at various thicknesses was investigated in the 0.1-18 GHz. Using a vector network analyzer, the scattering parameters (S11 and S21) were measured in two different ways. Based on the quarter-wavelength matching model, the results of measurement were analyzed. The experiment shows that there are many minimum values (dips) in RL at various thicknesses when the reflective wave, which is reflected from the absorbing layer and the emerging wave, which is reflected from the backed metal plate are out of phase by 180°, and the peak intensity of the RL is directly affected by the intensity of the reflective wave and the emerging wave. Furthermore, the experiment and numerical calculation demonstrates that the modulus of the normalized input impedance |Zin/Z0| equals approximately 1, but the ratio between the modulus of permittivity and permeability |ε/μ| is far from unity at the minimal reflection point.  相似文献

The acoustic field excited by flexural vibrations of a thin elastic plate and the perturbations of this field caused by a homogeneous circular inclusion with other elastic properties are considered. Because the density of air widely differs from that of a metal, this problem can be solved with fair accuracy in two steps: first, by considering the vibrations of the plate in a free space, and, then, by calculating the acoustic field excited by the field of plate’s vertical deflections. The main results of this work are the asymptotic expressions for the far acoustic field excited by each of the Fourier components F m (r)cosmφ of the flexural wave scattered by the inclusion.  相似文献

The complex separated flows induced by shock wave/boundary layer interaction were studied at hypersonic speed of Mach number 5. The experimental results on hypersonic flow over a set of rectangular cylinders are presented in this paper. The rectangular cylinder mounted on a flat plate worked as a typical model to simulate the obstacle on the vehicle surface. The effects of flow interaction on the aerodynamic characteristics have to be predicted for various geometrical parameters. So the static pressure distributions on the model surface were measured, the complex shock wave system was shown by schlieren photos, and the separated flow patterns around the obstacle were visualized by oil flow technique. All of the results describe the interactive flowfield features including peak pressure levels and their locations as well as separated boundaries associated with influence regions.  相似文献

An acoustic field near the edge of an elastic wedge-shaped plate is studied. The field is represented in the form of two counterpropagating nonuniform waves. The standing vibration profiles varying with distance to the edge are constructed. A specific acoustic effect arising when the wave moves away from the wedge is revealed. Theoretical results are confirmed by measuring the standing wave amplitudes with a proprietary setup.  相似文献

It is proven that the spatial profiles of different components of the complex quadratic susceptibility tensor $\hat \chi ^{(2)}$ (z,?? 1+?? 2; ?? 1, ?? 2), which is responsible for the generation of sum-frequency wave in a plate with one-dimensional inhomogeneity, can be reconstructed unambiguously. A reconstruction technique is proposed. To implement it, one has to direct a plane biharmonic wave with monochromatic components at frequencies ?? 1 and ?? 2 onto a plate and measure (in some range of the angles of incidence) the complex amplitude of the sum-frequency wave reflected from the plate. Changing the plane of incidence of the initial wave and (or) the polarization of its monochromatic components, one can determine the coordinate dependences for more than half of the components of $\hat \chi ^{(2)}$ (z,?? 1+?? 2; ?? 1, ?? 2). This reconstruction can be performed if the symmetry of the plate medium provides a diagonal form for its linear permittivity tensor. The technique proposed implies measurement of the intensities of the sum-frequency waves generated under special conditions using an auxiliary reference plate; this approach allows one to do without complex phase measurements.  相似文献

Magnetoelastic (ME) waves and thickness-shear modes in the ferromagnetic plate are studied. Coupled vibrations of magnetization and shear elastic deformations excited simultaneously by a variable magnetic field propagate in two mutually perpendicular directions: parallel and normal to a surface. For parameters characteristic of isotropic ferromagnet with the sample magnetization and Zeeman field parallel to the surface, resonant frequencies of shear modes are computed and their dispersion law is examined. It is shown that the dependence of dimensional resonances frequencies on wave number kz of ME wave propagating along saturating field direction occurs. The possibility of excitation of ME waves with different kz explains multimode character of thickness ME resonances.  相似文献

The question whether main electrodynamics laws accept the existence of materials with negative ? and µ is considered. An obstacle to this is the negativity of the wave energy density W in the theory of such media. It is shown that an attempt to change W sign only worsens the situation since it leads to the conflict of signs in the continuity equation.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the sound radiation from a water-filled exhaust pipe. The pipe opening and a plate attached to it form a vibrating surface for this radiation. Fluid-structural coupling between the pipe and enclosed fluid is included in the system modeling, but light fluid assumption is used for sound radiation into the space above the vibrating surface. In this paper, a numerical study on the n = 0 mode in the pipe shows that the wave types associated with this mode have different characteristics in two regions of the nondimensional frequency omega. In order to investigate further nonlinear asymmetric vibrations of a clamped circular plate under a harmonic excitation, we reexamine a primary resonance, studied by Yeo and Lee [Corrected solvability conditions for non-linear asymmetric vibrations of a circular plate, Journal of Sound and Vibration 257 (2002) 653-665] in which at most three stable steady-state responses (one standing wave and two traveling waves) are observed to exist. Further examination, however, tells that there exist at most five stable steady-state responses: one standing wave and four traveling waves. Two of the traveling waves lose their stability by Hopf bifurcation and have a sequence of period-doubling bifurcations leading to chaos. When the system has five attractors: three equilibrium solutions (one standing wave and two traveling waves) and two chaotic attractors (two modulated traveling waves), the basin boundaries of the attractors on the principal plane are obtained. Also examined is how basin boundaries of the modulated motions (quasi-periodic and chaotic motions) evolve as a system parameter varies. The basin boundaries of the modulated motions turn out to have the fractal nature.  相似文献
