Acoustic resonances are modified when objects are introduced into a chamber. The magnitude of these changes depends on the object position, size, and shape, as well as on its acoustic properties. Here, an experimental study concerning the resonant frequency shifts induced by a solid spherical object in a quasi-one-dimensional air-filled acoustic cavity is reported. It is shown that Leung's theory does not account quantitatively for the observations. A novel and simple approach is proposed, based on the wave equation in a cavity of variable cross section. The results fit more accurately the measured frequency shifts.  相似文献

Vibro-acoustography technique known by its noncontact excitation was used to detect resonance frequencies of objects in water. Two intersecting ultrasound beams generated by a 40 mm-diameter annular array transducer, focused at 35 mm and driven at f1=2.2 MHz and f2=2.22 MHz respectively, were targeted inside the object under test to produce a radiation force beating at the difference frequency f2-f1. This low frequency radiation force was used to excite the resonance vibration modes of the object by sweeping the frequency f2 between 2.22 and 2.275 MHz. The amplitude of the acoustic emission produced by the vibrations of the object was detected by a low frequency hydrophone (BW=60 kHz). By this approach, it was possible to detect resonance frequencies through amplitude variations of the measured acoustic emission. Experiments were conducted in a water tank for objects of different shapes and sizes. With a chalk sphere (15 mm-diameter) two resonance frequencies were detected at 45.75 and 68.75 kHz, and with a cylinder (10.38 mm-diameter and 32.20 mm-length) four principal resonance frequencies were identified in the 60 kHz-bandwidth of the hydrophone. It was shown with finite element calculations performed with Ansys, in which both solid and fluid parts were modelled, that the measured resonance frequencies corresponded to compressional or dilatation vibration modes of the object. It was verified that shear waves generated by torsional vibration modes were not propagated in water, as it is well known. The use of this technique to characterize heterogeneities in different media seems to be relatively more advantageous to other ultrasonic methods.  相似文献

Scattering of obliquely incident plane acoustic wave by an air-filled, transversely isotropic cylindrical shell immersed in water is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The normal mode expansion technique is employed for analyzing the scattering field, and then resonance modes of the shell appearing in modal scattering form functions are identified performing the resonance scattering analysis. Dispersion curves for Sholte-Stoneley, SH and Lamb waves are obtained and their characteristics are interpreted. Calculated backscattering and resonance spectra as well as dispersion curves are compared with those from ultrasonic experiments for two composite samples having the same nominal composition but fabricated under different conditions. Sensitive change of the dispersion curves is observed for both normal and oblique incidences, which demonstrates the feasibility of systematic inverse evaluation of damage or elastic constants of the composite shell using data from the acoustic scattering measurements.  相似文献

This article proposes a finite element model (FEM) for predicting the acoustic scattering from an encapsulated microbubble near rigid boundary. The validity of the model is first examined by comparing the acoustic nonlinear response of a free microbubble with that obtained by the Church model. Then this model is used to investigate the effect of the rigid boundary on acoustic scattering signals from microbubble. The results indicate that the resonance frequency decreases while the oscillation amplitude increases as the microbubble approaches the rigid boundary. In addition, the fundamental component of the acoustic scattering signal is enhanced compared with that of the free microbubble.  相似文献

Synchronization of coupled oscillators on a d-dimensional lattice with the power-law coupling G(r) = g0/rα and randomly distributed intrinsic frequency is analyzed. A systematic perturbation theory is developed to calculate the order parameter profile and correlation functions in powers of ? = α/d-1. For α ≤ d, the system exhibits a sharp synchronization transition as described by the conventional mean-field theory. For α > d, the transition is smeared by the quenched disorder, and the macroscopic order parameter ψ decays slowly with g0 as |ψ| ∝ g(0)(2).  相似文献

Pulse inversion acoustic imaging is useful as it allows second harmonic imaging to be obtained with short acoustic pulses. This allows high axial resolution, but removes any overlap in the frequency spectra of fundamental and harmonic. We demonstrate pulse inversion ultrasound modulated optical tomography using an optical speckle based detection method. Inverted and non-inverted acoustic pulses combined with synchronized strobed illumination are applied to an optically scattering medium. Over the acquisition time of a camera, multiple pulses are summed and at the next frame the phase of the ultrasound is shifted by π/2 and the process repeated. Combining the two frames allows a second harmonic signal to be obtained. A reduction in linewidth is observed (DC=9.26 mm, fundamental=4.02 mm, second harmonic=2.43 mm) in line scans of optically absorbing objects embedded in a scattering medium (thickness=16 mm, scattering coefficient=2.3 mm(-1), anisotropy factor=0.938).  相似文献

Computer-aided tomography is a technique for providing a two-dimensional cross-sectional view of a three-dimensional object through the digital processing of many one-dimensional views (or projections) taken at different look directions. In acoustic reflection tomography, insonifying the object and then recording the backscattered signal provides the projection information for a given look direction (or aspect angle). Processing the projection information for all possible aspect angles enables an image to be reconstructed that represents the two-dimensional spatial distribution of the object's acoustic reflectivity function when projected on the imaging plane. The shape of an idealized object, which is an elliptical cylinder, is reconstructed by applying standard backprojection, Radon transform inversion (using both convolution and filtered backprojections), and direct Fourier inversion to simulated projection data. The relative merits of the various reconstruction algorithms are assessed and the resulting shape estimates compared. For bandpass sonar data, however, the wave number components of the acoustic reflectivity function that are outside the passband are absent. This leads to the consideration of image reconstruction for bandpass data. Tomographic image reconstruction is applied to real data collected with an ultra-wideband sonar transducer to form high-resolution acoustic images of various underwater objects when the sonar and object are widely separated.  相似文献

同一样品不同厚度(b1b2)的两单光束谱øb1øb2经线性组合得到杂化单光束谱øα=αøb1+(1-α)øb2=αø0e-Kb1+(1-α)ø0e-Kb2,α为杂化系数。通过改变杂化系数α,就可获得任意强度的杂化谱øα。系统研究了杂化光谱øα的性质。研究表明,只要控制合适的条件,则厚度为(b2-αb2+αb1)的真实样品的单光束谱øb(b=b2-αb2+αb1)与杂化谱øα高度相似,øα的失真程度可忽略不计。也就是说,厚度在b1b2间任一厚度b的真实样品的单光束谱都可用杂化谱øα来表达,øαøb。因此,不需制备厚度为b的样品,通过改变杂化系数α就可获得研究者所希望强度的单光束谱øb。杂化谱方法有望在扣除背景干扰等方面得到广泛应用。  相似文献

A general exact analysis for three-dimensional scattering of a time-harmonic plane-progressive sound wave obliquely incident upon an arbitrarily thick bilaminated circular hollow cylinder of infinite extent, which is composed of a cylindrically orthotropic axially polarized piezoelectric inner layer perfectly bonded to an orthotropic outer layer, is presented. An approximate laminate model in the context of the so-called state space formulation along with the classical T-matrix solution technique involving a system global transfer matrix is employed to solve for the unknown modal scattering and transmission coefficients. Numerical example is given for an air-filled and water-submerged two-layered elasto-piezoelectric hybrid (steel/PZT4) hollow cylinder insonified by an obliquely incident unit-amplitude plane sound wave. Following the acoustic resonance scattering theory (RST), the total form function amplitude together with the associated global scattering, the far-field inherent background, and the resonance scattering coefficients of the nth normal mode are computed as a function of dimensionless frequency for selected angles of incidence, piezoelectric layer thickness parameters, and electrical boundary conditions (i.e., open/closed circuit or active). Also, the electrical voltage coefficients required for partial or complete cancellation of the reflected sound field are calculated. Limiting cases are considered and good agreements with the solutions available in the literature are obtained.  相似文献

通过声散射理论,将水中粒子的Bessel波束声散射场的分波序列(PWS)表达公式加以推广,进而推导出声辐射力的表达公式,获得了液体球及弹性球在Bessel波束下声辐射力的变化规律。通过观察不同散射角形态函数,可发现声辐射力的产生与粒子背向散射抑制程度有关。对于液体球粒子,球壳厚度及材料介质对粒子声辐射力有着重要的影响,同时Bessel波束波锥角越大,产生负声辐射力的可能性越大。对于弹性球和弹性单层壳粒子,声辐射力的产生与其本身的共振特征存在很大的关系。同时,通过改变球壳内介质及壳层厚度的方法,可增加产生的负声辐射力的频率范围及幅值强度.  相似文献

This work presents a lossy partial differential acoustic wave equation including fractional derivative terms. It is derived from first principles of physics (mass and momentum conservation) and an equation of state given by the fractional Zener stress-strain constitutive relation. For a derivative order α in the fractional Zener relation, the resulting absorption α(k) obeys frequency power-laws as α(k) ∝ ω(1+α) in a low-frequency regime, α(k) ∝ ω(1-α/2) in an intermediate-frequency regime, and α(k) ∝ ω(1-α) in a high-frequency regime. The value α=1 corresponds to the case of a single relaxation process. The wave equation is causal for all frequencies. In addition the sound speed does not diverge as the frequency approaches infinity. This is an improvement over a previously published wave equation building on the fractional Kelvin-Voigt constitutive relation.  相似文献

利用部分波展开法求解得到了Gauss声束入射下刚性和非刚性椭圆柱的声散射系数,推导了一般情况下的声辐射力矩表达式.在此基础上,通过一系列数值仿真详细分析了离轴距离、入射角度和束腰半径对声辐射力矩的影响.结果表明:正向与负向声辐射力矩均可以在一定条件下存在;低频情况下刚性椭圆柱比非刚性椭圆柱更容易产生较强的声辐射力矩;特定频率的入射声场可以激发出非刚性椭圆柱不同阶的共振散射模式,因而非刚性椭圆柱的声辐射力矩峰值与频率的关系更密切;增加束腰半径有利于扩大散射截面,进而增加椭圆柱的声辐射力矩.该研究结果预期可以为利用声辐射力矩实现粒子的可控旋转和流体黏度的反演提供一定的理论指导.  相似文献

The axial radiation force exerted by a general non-diffracting beam on an object of arbitrary shape in lossless medium is analyzed. The object may be on or off the beam's axis. The analysis is based on the plane-wave representation of the beam using an azimuthal function and conical angle. The analytical expression relates the force to axial projections of the extracted and scattered momentum. Using an extended optical theorem, the extinction is related to the scattering at the forward direction of the beam's plane wave components. The axial force is expressed using the scattering amplitude and known angular functions.  相似文献

The focus of this study was to investigate how dolphins use acoustic features in returning echolocation signals to discriminate among objects. An echolocating dolphin performed a match-to-sample task with objects that varied in size, shape, material, and texture. After the task was completed, the features of the object echoes were measured (e.g., target strength, peak frequency). The dolphin's error patterns were examined in conjunction with the between-object variation in acoustic features to identify the acoustic features that the dolphin used to discriminate among the objects. The present study explored two hypotheses regarding the way dolphins use acoustic information in echoes: (1) use of a single feature, or (2) use of a linear combination of multiple features. The results suggested that dolphins do not use a single feature across all object sets or a linear combination of six echo features. Five features appeared to be important to the dolphin on four or more sets: the echo spectrum shape, the pattern of changes in target strength and number of highlights as a function of object orientation, and peak and center frequency. These data suggest that dolphins use multiple features and integrate information across echoes from a range of object orientations.  相似文献

In a high resolution study of the 4He + α initiated excitation functions in the region of the 8Be first T = 2 state, weak resonance excursions have been observed in some reaction channels yielding the total width Γ = 14.7 ± 4.0 keV. No resonance excursion has been observed in the 4He + α elastic scattering yielding the branching ratio Γα/Γ ≦ 0.003 for the decay of the 8Be first T = 2 state into two α-particles. For the decay to the low-lying states of 6Li and 7Li lower limits of the branching ratio are given. The reinvestigation of the 7Li+p initiated excitation functions revealed no resonance anomaly in the region of the 8Be first T = 2 state. The upper limit Γp/Γ ≦ 0.023 has been derived for the proton decay to the 7Lig.s.. The results are compared with previous measurements and with shell-model calculations.  相似文献

Big brown bats were trained in a two-choice task to locate a two-cylinder dipole object with a constant 5 cm spacing in the presence of either a one-cylinder monopole or another two-cylinder dipole with a shorter spacing. For the dipole versus monopole task, the objects were either stationary or in motion during each trial. The dipole and monopole objects varied from trial to trial in the left-right position while also roving in range (10-40 cm), cross range separation (15-40 cm), and dipole aspect angle (0 degrees -90 degrees ). These manipulations prevented any single feature of the acoustic stimuli from being a stable indicator of which object was the correct choice. After accounting for effects of masking between echoes from pairs of cylinders at similar distances, the bats discriminated the 5 cm dipole from both the monopole and dipole alternatives with performance independent of aspect angle, implying a distal, spatial object representation rather than a proximal, acoustic object representation.  相似文献

The possibilities and limitations of the methods of obtaining acoustic images of objects moving under an inhomogeneous scattering layer are considered. It is shown that the previously proposed algorithms of signal processing that select a random phase modulation from the received field make it possible to reconstruct the images of extended objects observed through an inhomogeneous medium in the presence of strong stationary reflectors. The proposed methods are compared with the Zverev's method of an inverse aperture synthesis in a dark field.  相似文献

Unlike most common solids, "plastic" polymer solids typically have shear and Rayleigh wave phase velocities less than the speed of sound in water. Subsonic Rayleigh waves on smooth objects in water are not classified as leakey waves and it is necessary to reexamine backscattering mechanisms. Also the intrinsic material dissipation of the Rayleigh wave can be significant. Backscattering by acrylic or polymethlmethacrylate (PMMA) spheres in water is analyzed and measured in the region ka = 1.5-7 and it is found that prominent low-lying resonance peaks of the form function f exist. The peaks can be modeled with quantitative ray theory as the result of coupling of subsonic Rayleigh waves with sound through acoustic tunneling. The most prominent maximum of f=5.63 occurs at ka = 1.73 and is associated with the quadrupole (or n=2) partial wave. In addition to explaining the scattering, the target strength is found to be sufficiently large that such spheres may be useful for passive low frequency targets.  相似文献
