Our velocity measurements on quasi-two-dimensional turbulent flow in a rapidly rotating annulus yield self-similar (scale-independent) probability distribution functions for longitudinal velocity differences, deltav(l) = v(x+l)-v(x). These distribution functions are strongly non-Gaussian, suggesting that the coherent vortices play a significant role. The structure functions <[deltav(l)](p)> approximately l(zeta)p exhibit anomalous scaling: zeta(p) = p / 2 rather than the expected zeta(p) = p / 3. Correspondingly, the energy spectrum is described by E(k) approximately k(-2) rather than the expected E(k) approximately k(-5/3).  相似文献

We introduce a sandpile model where, at each unstable site, all grains are transferred randomly to downstream neighbors. The model is local and conservative, but not Abelian. This does not appear to change the universality class for the avalanches in the self-organized critical state. It does, however, introduce long-range spatial correlations within the metastable states. For the transverse direction d(perpendicular)>0, we find a fractal network of occupied sites, whose density vanishes as a power law with distance into the sandpile.  相似文献

We study diffusion of particles in large-scale simulations of one-dimensional stochastic sandpiles, in both the restricted and unrestricted versions. The results indicate that the diffusion constant scales in the same manner as the activity density, so that it represents an alternative definition of an order parameter. The critical behavior of the unrestricted sandpile is very similar to that of its restricted counterpart, including the fact that a data collapse of the order parameter as a function of the particle density is possible, but with a narrow scaling region. We also develop a series expansion, in inverse powers of the density, for the collective diffusion coefficient in a variant of the stochastic sandpile in which the toppling rate at a site with n particles is n(n-1), and compare the theoretical prediction with simulation results.  相似文献

Spectral direct numerical simulations of incompressible MHD turbulence at a resolution of up to 1024(3) collocation points are presented for a statistically isotropic system as well as for a setup with an imposed strong mean magnetic field. The spectra of residual energy, E(R)k=|E(M)k - E(K)k|, and total energy, Ek=E(K)k+E(M)k, are observed to scale self-similarly in the inertial range as E(R)k approximately k(-7/3), E(k)approximately k(-5/3) (isotropic case) and E(R)(k(perpendicular) approximately k(-2)(perpendicular), E(k(perpendicular))approximately k(-3/2)(perpendicular) (anisotropic case, perpendicular to the mean field direction). A model of dynamic equilibrium between kinetic and magnetic energy, based on the corresponding evolution equations of the eddy-damped quasinormal Markovian closure approximation, explains the findings. The assumed interplay of turbulent dynamo and Alfvén effect yields E(R)k approximately kE2(k), which is confirmed by the simulations.  相似文献

Here we report a systematic theoretical study of the structure and electronic properties of Snn-1Pb and Pbn-1Sn (n = 2-13) clusters and compare these results with pure Snn and Pbn to understand the influence of the dopant elements. The calculations were carried out using the density functional theory with generalized gradient approximation for the exchange-correlation potential. Extensive search based on large number of initial configurations has been carried out to locate the stable isomers of Snn-1Pb and Pbn-1Sn (n = 2-13) clusters. The relative stability of Snn-1Pb and Pbn-1Sn (n = 2-13) clusters is analyzed based on the calculated binding energies and second difference in energy. The stability analysis of these clusters suggests that, while the substitution of Sn by Pb lowers the stability of Snn clusters, presence of Sn enhances the stability of the Pbn clusters. The results suggest that while for Snn-1Pb, n=4, 7, 10, 12 clusters are more stable than their respective neighbors, Pbn-1Sn clusters with n = 4, 7 and 9 are found to be more stable. Based on the fragmentation pattern it is seen that for Snn-1Pb and Pbn-1Sn clusters favor monomer evaporation of the Pb atom up to n =11 and n =12, respectively. Unlike this trend, the Sn11Pb undergoes fission type fragment into Sn5Pb and Sn6 clusters. A comparison between our theoretical results and surface induced dissociation experiment shows good agreement, which gives confidence on the prediction of the ground state geometries.  相似文献

The scaling properties of three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic turbulence with finite magnetic helicity are obtained from direct numerical simulations using 512(3) modes. The results indicate that the turbulence does not follow the Iroshnikov-Kraichnan phenomenology. The scaling exponents of the structure functions can be described by a modified She-Leveque model zeta(p) = p/9+1-(1/3)(p/3), corresponding to basic Kolmogorov scaling and sheetlike dissipative structures. In particular, we find zeta(2) approximately 0.7, consistent with the energy spectrum E(k) approximately k(-5/3) as observed in the solar wind, and zeta(3) approximately 1, confirming a recent analytical result.  相似文献

Reduction in b-values before a large earthquake is a very popular topic for discussion. This study proposes an alternative sandpile model being able to demonstrate reduction in scaling exponents before large events through adaptable long-range connections. The distant connection between two separated cells was introduced in the sandpile model. We found that our modified long-range connective sandpile (LRCS) system repeatedly approaches and retreats from a critical state. When a large avalanche occurs in the LRCS model, accumulated energy dramatically dissipates and the system simultaneously retreats from criticality. The system quickly approaches the critical state accompanied by the increase in the slopes of the power-law frequency-size distributions of events. Afterwards, and most interestingly, the power-law slope declines before the next large event. The precursory b-value reduction before large earthquakes observed from earthquake catalogues closely mimics the evolution in power-law slopes for the frequency-size distributions of events derived in the LRCS models. Our paper, thus, provides a new explanation for declined b-values before large earthquakes.  相似文献

Simple Systems with Anomalous Dissipation and Energy Cascade   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We analyze a class of dynamical systems of the type where f n (t) is a forcing term with only for and the coupling coefficients c n satisfy a condition ensuring the formal conservation of energy . Despite being formally conservative, we show that these dynamical systems support dissipative solutions (suitably defined) and, as a result, may admit unique (statistical) steady states when the forcing term f n (t) is nonzero. This claim is demonstrated via the complete characterization of the solutions of the system above for specific choices of the coupling coefficients c n . The mechanism of anomalous dissipations is shown to arise via a cascade of the energy towards the modes with higher n; this is responsible for solutions with interesting energy spectra, namely scales as as n→∞. Here the exponents α depend on the coupling coefficients c n and denotes expectation with respect to the equilibrium measure. This is reminiscent of the conjectured properties of the solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations in the inviscid limit and their accepted relationship with fully developed turbulence. Hence, these simple models illustrate some of the heuristic ideas that have been advanced to characterize turbulence, similar in that respect to the random passive scalar or random Burgers equation, but even simpler and fully solvable.  相似文献

The growth of ordered domains in lattice gas models, which occurs after the system is quenched from infinite temperature to a state below the critical temperatureT c, is studied by Monte Carlo simulation. For a square lattice with repulsion between nearest and next-nearest neighbors, which in equilibrium exhibits fourfold degenerate (2×1) superstructures, the time-dependent energy E(t), domain size L(t), and structure functionS(q, t) are obtained, both for Glauber dynamics (no conservation law) and the case with conserved density (Kawasaki dynamics). At late times the energy excess and halfwidth of the structure factor decrease proportional tot –x, whileL(t) t x, where the exponent x=1/2 for Glauber dynamics and x1/3 for Kawasaki dynamics. In addition, the structure factor satisfies a scaling lawS(k,t)=t 2xS(ktx). The smaller exponent for the conserved density case is traced back to the excess density contained in the walls between ordered domains which must be redistributed during growth. Quenches toT>T c, T=Tc (where we estimate dynamic critical exponents) andT=0 are also considered. In the latter case, the system becomes frozen in a glasslike domain pattern far from equilibrium when using Kawasaki dynamics. The generalization of our results to other lattices and structures also is briefly discussed.  相似文献

Lattice statistical models of equilibrium critical phenomena generally obey finite size scaling (FSS) ansatz. However, the critical behavior of the prototypical BTW sandpile model demonstrating self-organized criticality at out of equilibrium is described by a peculiar multiscaling behaviour. FSS hypothesis is verified here on two versions (RSM1 and RSM2) of a rotational sandpile model (RSM) with broken mirror symmetry. In these models, sand grains flow only in the forward direction and in a specific rotational direction from an active site after toppling. The toppling rules are such that RSM1 will have less randomness whereas RSM2 will have more randomness with respect to RSM. RSM1 is expected to be more closer to BTW whereas RSM2 is expected to be more closer to Manna’s stochastic model. Both RSM1 and RSM2 are found to belong to the same universality class of RSM. The scaling functions of RSM1 and RSM2 are also found to obey usual FSS hypothesis at out of equilibrium instead of multiscaling as in BTW.  相似文献

利用相干反斯托克斯拉曼光谱(CARS)探测技术, 研究了激发态Cs2与H2间的电子-振转能级的碰撞转移。用波长为532 nm和中心波长为716 nm的两束激光同时聚焦到样品池中, 扫描CARS谱确认了H2分子的S支(△v =1, △J=2)仅在v=1, J=4,5及v=2, J=3,4能级上有布居, 用n1、n2、n3、n4分别表示(2,4)、(2,3)、(1,4)及(1,5)上的粒子数密度。从CARS线的峰值得到n2/n1、n3/n1、n4/n1分别为6.34±1.27、3.66±0.73和1.45±0.29。转移能配置到振动、转动和平动的比例分别为0.44、0.06和0.50, 能量主要分配在振动和平动上。在T=523 K和PH2=2.5×103 Pa条件下, 通过求解速率方程组和对时间分辨CARS线轮廓的分析, 得到碰撞转移速率系数k1=(6.0±1.2)×10-14 cm-3s-1和k2=(4.0±0.8)×10-13cm-3 s-1。  相似文献

A simple one-dimensional sandpile model is constructed which possesses exact analytical solvability while displaying both scale-free behavior and fractal properties. The sandpile grows by avalanching on all scales, yet its shape and energy content are described by a simple, continuous (but nowhere differentiable) analytical formula. A running sandpile is shown to undergo a dynamical transition as diffusion is increased from zero. The transition takes place after the local diffusion has become so large as to erase the local inhomogeneities, caused by the intermittent rain of sand, before they can trigger avalanche activity. The system then undergoes an abrupt change with the self-similar structure of the dynamics being replaced with quasiperiodic, near system-size transport events. These results may have significant implications for many of the driven physical systems for which self-organized criticality based dynamical models have been proposed.  相似文献

We describe the construction of a conserved reaction-diffusion system that exhibits self-organized critical (avalanche-like) behavior under the action of a slow addition of particles. The model provides an illustration of the general mechanism to generate self-organized criticality in conserving systems. We describe scaling laws for a control parameter for various sequences of bifurcations of the LSn mixed-mode regimes consisting of single large amplitude maximum followed by n small amplitude peaks. These regimes are obtained in a normalized version of a simple three-variable polynomial model that contains only one nonlinear cubic term. The period adding bifurcations for LSn patterns scales as 1/n at low n and as 1/n2 at sufficiently large values of n. Similar scaling laws 1/k at low k and 1/k2 at sufficiently high values of k describe the period adding bifurcations for complex k(LSn)(LS(n + 1)) patterns. A finite number of basic LSn patterns and infinite sequences of complex k(LSn)(LS(n + 1)) patterns exist in the model. Each periodic pattern loses its stability by the period doubling bifurcations scaled by the Feigenbaum law. Also an infinite number of the broken Farey trees exists between complex periodic orbits. A family of 1D return maps constructed from appropriate Poincaré sections is a very fruitful tool in studies of the dynamical system. Analysis of this family of maps supports the scaling laws found using the numerical integration of the model.  相似文献

To connect vortices in physical space and scales in wavenumber space, spectral definitions for vortex size and momentum are introduced within the framework of a probabilistic method. At a late stage of 2D decaying turbulence, a simple solution is given for the vortex position and momentum probabilities. From the solution, an energy spectrum E(k) for self-similar vortices is constructed, which is in agreement with that observed in numerical simulations.
