In nature, microbes are involved in weathering of rocks, in mobilization of metals from minerals, and in metal precipitation and deposition. These microbiological principles and processes can be adapted to treat particulate solid wastes. Especially the microbiological solubilization of metals from solid minerals (termed bioleaching) to obtain metal values is a well-known technique in the mining industry. We focus here on non-mining minerai wastes to demonstrate the applicability of mining-based technologies for the treatment of metal-containing solid wastes. In the case study presented, microbial metal mobilization from particulate fly ash (originating from municipal solid waste incineration) by Acidithiobacilli resulted in cadmium, copper, and zinc mobilization of 〉80%, whereas lead, chromium, and nickel were mobilized by 2, 11 and 32%, respectively. In addition, the potential of HCN-forming bacteria (Chromobacterium violaceum, Pseudornonas fluorescens) was investigated to mobilize metals when grown in the presence of solid materials (e.g.,copper-containing ores, electronic scrap, spent automobile catalytic converters). C. violaceum was found capable of mobilizina nickel as tetracyanonickelate from fine-grained nickel powder. Gold was microbially solubJlized as dicyanoaurate from electronic waste. Additionally, cyanide-complexed copper was detected during biological treatment of shredded printed circuit-board scraps. Water-soluble copper and platinum cyanide were also detected during the treatment of spent automobile catalytic converters.  相似文献

This paper describes the use of overlapping grids for the calculation of flow around single and multiple-particle configurations at the micro scale. The basic equations for calculation are those for conservation of mass and momentum which are solved using a common Finite-Volume formulation. The hydrodynamic particle-particle and particle-wall interaction can be calculated by using an overlapping or Chimera grid scheme. With the grid structuring procedure it is possible to use simple and structured grids around the particles and the overall main grid geometry. The particle grids are lapped over the main grid such that they can move independently after each time step without remeshing the whole geometry. The paper gives results for the validation of the code developed for general test cases, for a rotating ellipsoid in simple shear flow, the flow around particles attached to a wall, the motion of a particle in the vicinity of a wall and some results for the flow through a packed bed configuration.  相似文献

Using the results of crack surface displacement field in Green-Sneddon’s solution and coordinate transformation,this paper hasderived an expression K_1(x_1,z_1,α)for SIF at any point and at anyorientation on the border of elliptical flat crack inside infinitesolid under uniform tension.As a complement of Irwin’s work,it is shown that for any pointed point on the elliptical border theSIF defined on normal plane takes the maximum value.And it shouldbe pointed out that in some works some idea concerning Irwin’s con-tents is open to question.An expression K_I in terms of polarangle which is more intuitional than centrifugal angle is proposedfor SIF at any point on the elliptical border.  相似文献

The mechanism of the response motion of a suspended particle to turbulent motion ofits,surrounding fluid is different according to size of turbulent eddies.The particle isdragged by the viscous force of large eddies.and meanwhile driven randomly by smalleddies.Based on this understanding,the dispersion of a particle with finite size in ahomogeneous isotropic turbulence is calculated in this study.Results show that there aretwo competing effects:when enhanced by the inertia of a particle,the long-term particlediffusivity is reduced by the finite size of the particle.  相似文献

In[1]Zhou extended some Liapounoff‘s theorems of the theory of stability in the case of plane laminar fluid flows.In[2]Zhou and Li investigated the eigenvalue problem and expansion theorems associated with Orr-Sommerfeld equation,and obtained some new results.In this paper,based on the results of[1]and[2]we shall prove:(1)For the linearized problem the definition of stability according to the eigenvalues of Orr-Sommerfeld equation and that according to the perturbation.energy are equivalent;(2)The method of linearization is admissible for the stability pro-blem of plane laminar fluid flows for sufficiently small initial disturbance.  相似文献

In this paper,we reexamine the method of successive approximation presented byProf.Chien Wei-zang for solving the problem of large deflection of a circular plate,and findthat the method could be regarded as the method of strained parameters in the singularperturbation theory.In terms of the parameter representing the ratio of the centerdeflection to the thickness of the plate,we make the asymptotic expansions of thedeflection,membrane stress and the parameter of load as in Ref.[1],and then give theorthogonality conditions(i.e.the solvability conditions)for the resulting equations,bywhich the stiffness characteristics of the plate could be determined.It is pointed out thatwith the solutions for the small deflection problem of the circular plate and theorthogonality conditions,we can derive the third order approximate relations between theparameter of load and the center deflection and the first-term approximation of membranestresses at the center and edge of the plate without solving the differential equ  相似文献

This paper gives the modified Castigliano’s theorem, which is more convenient and more extensive for applications than the classical Castigliano’s theorem.The modifications to the classical Castigliano ’s theorem are in following two respects, the first respect is that the expression of the partial derivative with respect to the concentrated load p of the complementary energy density in the clasical Castigliano ’s theorem is replaced by the expressions with teh products of the external loads and influence functions, the modification brings us greatest simplicity and greatest convenience for calculations under various loads; the second respect is that the expressions with the products of the inhomogeneous boundary displacements and the influence functions are introduced into the classical Castigliano’s theorem, the modification provides the theoretical fundamental for solving the problems of various boundary conditions.We show also the method of how to apply the modified Castigliano’s theorem to solve the problems of the surface structural mechanics.Finally, as a calculated example of the applications of the modified Castigliano’s theorem we solved the equation of the deflection surface of the rectangular plate with two adjacent edges built-in and other two adjacent edges free.  相似文献

Velocities of solid phase and liquid phase in debris flow are one key problem to research on impact and abrasion mechanism of banks and control structures under action of debris flow. Debris flow was simplified as two-phase liquid composed of solid phase with the same diameter particles and liquid phase with the same mechanical features. Assume debris flow was one-dimension two-phase liquid moving to one direction, then general equations of velocities of solid phase and liquid phase were founded in two-phase theory. Methods to calculate average pressures, volume forces and surface forces of debris flow control volume were established. Specially, surface forces were ascertained using Bingham's rheology equation of liquid phase and Bagnold's testing results about interaction between particles of solid phase. Proportional coefficient of velocities between liquid phase and solid phase was put forward, meanwhile, divergent coefficient between theoretical velocity and real velocity of solid phase was provided too. To state succinctly before, method to calculate velocities of solid phase and liquid phase was obtained through solution to general equations. The method is suitable for both viscous debris flow and thin debris flow. Additionally, velocities every phase can be identified through analyzing deposits in-situ after occurring of debris flow. It is obvious from engineering case the result in the method is consistent to that in real-time field observation.  相似文献
