We consider a holographic extended phase space in the presence of Reissner-Nordstrom-Anti-de Sitter(RNAdS) and Born-Infeld-Anti-de Sitter(BI-AdS) black holes in the bulk. In this extended phase space the cosmological constant is investigated as pressure and volume is defined as the codimension one-time slice in the bulk geometry enclosed by the minimal area appearing in the computation of the holographic entanglement entropy. These thermodynamics quantities can serve as probes of the underlying phase transition dictated by black hole thermodynamics, but do not describe different structures. We find that the isocharges on the pressure-volume plane exhibit a Van der Waals-like structure, for RN-AdS black holes in the background. For BI-AdS black holes, we observe the analogy with a Van der Waals liquid-gas system for βQ 1/2 and Reentrant phase transition for βQ 1/2 in the holographic extended phase space. The same holographic thermodynamic behavior is observed when we use the fidelity susceptibility as the volume and the cosmological constant as the pressure for RN-AdS black hole in the background.

The holographic principle has revealed that phyical systems in 3-D space, black holes included, are basically two-dimensional as far as their information content is concerned. This conclusion is complemented by one sketched here: as far as entropy or information flow is concerned, a black hole behaves as a one-dimensional channel. We define a channel in flat spacetime in thermodynamic terms, and contrast it with common entropy emitting systems. A black hole is more like the former: its entropy output is related to the emitted power as it would be for a one-dimensional channel, and disposal of an information stream down a black hole is limited by the power invested in the same way as for a one-dimensional channel.

We investigate the influence of the first-order correction of entropy caused by thermal quantum fluctuations on the thermodynamics of a logarithmic corrected charged black hole in massive gravity. For this black hole, we explore the thermodynamic quantities, such as entropy, Helmholtz free energy, internal energy, enthalpy, Gibbs free energy and specific heat. We discuss the influence of the topology of the event horizon, dimensions and nonlinearity parameter on the local and global stability of the black hole. As a result, it is found that the holographic dual parameter vanishes. This means that the thermal corrections have no significant role to disturb the holographic duality of the logarithmic charged black hole in massive gravity, although the thermal corrections have a substantial impact on the thermodynamic quantities in the high-energy limit and the stability conditions of black holes.

This survey intends to cover recent approaches to black hole entropy which attempt to go beyond the standard semiclassical perspective. Quantum corrections to the semiclassical Bekenstein-Hawking area law for black hole entropy, obtained within the quantum geometry framework, are treated in some detail. Their ramification for the holographic entropy bound for bounded stationary spacetimes is discussed. Four dimensional supersymmetric extremal black holes in string-based N=2 supergravity are also discussed, albeit more briefly.

An effective quantum field theory (QFT) with a manifest UV/IR connection, so as to be valid for arbitrarily large volumes, can successfully be applied to the cosmological dark energy problem as well as the cosmological constant (CC) problem. Motivated by recent approaches to the hierarchy problem, we develop such a framework with a large number of particle species. When applying to systems on the brink of experiencing a sudden collapse to a black hole, we find that the entropy, unlike the total energy, now becomes an increasing function of the number of field species. An internal consistency of the theory is then used to infer the upper bound on the number of particle species, showing consistency with the holographic Bekenstein–Hawking bound. This may thus serve to fill in a large gap in entropy of any non-black hole configuration of matter and the black holes. In addition, when the bound is saturated the entanglement entropy matches the black hole entropy, thus solving the multiplicity of species problem. In a cosmological setting, the maximum allowable number of species becomes a function of cosmological time, reaching its minimal value in a low-entropy post-reheating epoch.

The thermodynamics of Maxwell-Dilaton black holes has been extensively studied. It has served as a fertile ground to test ideas about temperature through various definitions of surface gravity. In this paper, we make an independent analysis of this black hole solution in both, Einstein and Jordan, frames. We explore a set of definitions for the surface gravity and observe the different predictions they make for the near extremal configuration of this black hole. Finally, motivated by the singularity structure in the interior of the event horizon, we use a holographic argument to remove the micro-states from the disconnected region of this solution. In this manner, we construct a frame independent entropy from which we obtain a temperature which agrees with the standard results in the non-extremal regime, and has a desirable behaviour around the extremal configurations according to the third law of black hole mechanics.

We investigate the corrected entropy and Hawking temperature of the BTZ black hole which obtained from (2 + 1) dimensional black hole. Besides, we generalize our analysis of black holes to the case of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. The corrections to the Hawking temperature and entropy of apparent horizon for FRW universe are also obtained. Comparing the results with the high energy black hole demonstrates how the semi-classic approximation affects the thermodynamics of the BTZ black hole, corrected terms, classical action and the entropy.

We study corrections to the entropy of Einstein–Maxwell dilaton–axion black holes beyond semiclassical approximations. We consider the entropy of the black hole as a state variable and derive these corrections using the exactness criteria of the first law of thermodynamics. We note that from this general frame-work the entropy corrections for “simpler” black holes like Schwarzschild, Reissner–Nordström and anti-de Sitter–Schwarzschild black holes follow easily. This procedure gives us the modified area law as well.

In this work, we consider rotating BTZ black hole in three dimensions which is dual of one dimensional holographic superconductors. We applied higher order corrections of the entropy, which interpreted as quantum corrections, to the thermodynamics quantities and study modified thermodynamics. We investigate stability of rotating BTZ black hole under effects of higher order quantum corrections, and find that they affect stability of black hole. So, the small black hole has some instabilities and critical points due to the quantum effects. We also study effect of correction terms on the dual picture of rotating BTZ black hole.

The weak cosmic censorship conjecture in the near-extremal BTZ black hole has been tested using test particles and fields. It has been claimed that such a black hole can be overspun. In this paper,we review the thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture in BTZ black holes using the scattering of a scalar field. The first law of thermodynamics in the non-extremal BTZ black hole is recovered. For the extremal and near-extremal black holes, due to the divergence of the variation of entropy,we test the weak cosmic censorship conjecture by evaluating the minimum of the function f,and find that both the extremal and near-extremal black holes cannot be overspun.

In this paper, we employ the extended generalized uncertainty principle with linear terms (LEGUP) to investigate the thermodynamics properties of the Schwarzschild and Reissner–Nordström (RN) black holes. Firstly, by constructing the theoretical framework of LEGUP, the minimal temperature of the Schwarzschild black hole and the modified mass–temperature function for the black hole are calculated. Furthermore, the heat capacity function for the Schwarzschild black hole is obtained. After that, we compare LEGUP black hole thermodynamics with EGUP black hole and with the usual forms. Besides, the modification of black hole entropy is discussed, which involves a heuristic analysis of particles absorbed by the black hole. Finally, we derive the LEGUP-corrected temperature, heat capacity and entropy functions of the RN black hole.

In accordance with the holographic principle, by counting the states of the scalar field just at the event horizon of the Vaidya-Bonner black hole, the holographic entropy bound of the black hole is calculated and the Bekenstein- Hawking formula is obtained, With the generalized uncertainty principle, the divergence of state density at event horizon in the ordinary quantum field theory is removed, With the residue theorem, the integral trouble in the calculation is overcome. The present result is quantitatively tenable and the holographic principle is realized by applying the quantum field theory to the black hole entropy problem. Compared with some previous works, it is suggested that the quantum states contributing to black hole entropy should be restricted on the event horizon.

In this paper, we consider higher order corrections of the entropy, which coming from thermal fluctuations, and find their effect on the thermodynamics of higher dimensional charged black holes. Leading order thermal fluctuation is logarithmic term in the entropy while higher order correction is proportional to the inverse of original entropy. We calculate some thermodynamics quantities and obtain the effect of logarithmic and higher order corrections of entropy on them. Validity of the first law of thermodynamics investigated and Van der Waals equation of state of dual picture studied. We find that five-dimensional black hole behaves as Van der Waals, but higher dimensional case have not such behavior. We find that thermal fluctuations are important in stability of black hole hence affect unstable/stable black hole phase transition.

This paper extends Parikh-Wilzcek's recent work, which treats the Hawking radiation as a semi-classical tunnelling process from the event horizon of four dimensional Schwarzshild and Reissner-Nordstrom black holes, to that of arbitrarily dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom de Sitter black hole. The result shows that the tunnelling rate is related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the factually radiant spectrum is no longer precisely thermal after taking the dynamical black hole background and energy conservation into account, but is consistent with the underlying unitary theory and then satisfies the first law of the black hole thermodynamics. Meanwhile, in Parikh-Wilzcek's framework, this paper points out that the information conservation is only suitable for the reversible process but in highly unstable evaporating black hole (irreversible process) the information loss is possible.

We investigate thermodynamics and phase transition of the Reissner–Nordstr?m black hole surrounded by quintessence. Using thermodynamical laws of black holes, we derive the expressions of some thermodynamics quantities for the Reissner–Nordstr?m black hole surrounded by quintessence. The variations of the temperature and heat capacity with the entropy were plotted for different values of the state parameter related to the quintessence, ω q , and the normalization constant related to the density of quintessence c. We show that when varying the entropy of the black hole a phase transition is observed in the black hole. Moreover, when increasing the density of quintessence, the transition point is shifted to lower entropy and the temperature of the black hole decreases.

In some recent derivations thermal characters of the inner horizon have been employed; however, the understanding of possible role that may play the inner horizons of black holes in black hole thermodynamics is still somewhat incomplete. Motivated by this problem we investigate Hawking radiation of the Reissner-Nordström-Taub-NUT (RNTN) black hole by considering thermal characters of both the outer and inner horizons. We apply Damour-Ruffini method and the thin film brick wall model to calculate the temperature and the entropy of the inner horizon of the RNTN black hole. The inner horizon admits thermal character with positive temperature and entropy proportional to its area, and it thus may contribute to the total entropy of the black hole in the context of Nernst theorem. Considering conservations of energy and charge and the back-reaction of emitting particles to the spacetime, the emission spectra are obtained for both the inner and outer horizons. The total emission rate is the product of the emission rates of the inner and outer horizons, and it deviates from the purely thermal spectrum and can bring some information out. Thus, the result can be treated as an explanation to the information loss paradox.

In this paper, we use semi-classical tunneling approach to calculate the quantum corrections to the Hawking temperature as well as entropy of the Kehagias-Sftesos asymptotically flat black hole solution and charged regular black hole with Fermi-Dirac distribution. For this purpose, we apply the first law of black hole thermodynamics to investigate the semi-classical entropy of both black holes having mass as well as charge or coupling constant. For both black holes, the entropy corrections contain the logarithmic term as a leading order correction term. For Kehagias-Sftesos asymptotically flat black hole, the semi-classical Hawking temperature and black hole entropy will behave asymptotically by considering the vanishing coupling constant b = 0. We have obtained the same analysis for the corrected thermodynamical quantities for this BH. For charged regular black hole with Fermi-Dirac distribution, if we neglect the charged effects in our analysis, i.e., q = 0, then these corrections approximately leads to the Schwarzschild black hole which is already given in the literature.
