A homotopy theoretic realization of string topology   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Let M be a closed, oriented manifold of dimension d. Let LM be the space of smooth loops in M. In [2] Chas and Sullivan defined a product on the homology H * (LM) of degree -d. They then investigated other structure that this product induces, including a Batalin -Vilkovisky structure, and a Lie algebra structure on the S1 equivariant homology H * S 1 (LM). These algebraic structures, as well as others, came under the general heading of the ”string topology” of M. In this paper we will describe a realization of the Chas-Sullivan loop product in terms of a ring spectrum structure on the Thom spectrum of a certain virtual bundle over the loop space. We also show that an operad action on the homology of the loop space discovered by Voronov has a homotopy theoretic realization on the level of Thom spectra. This is the ” cactus operad” defined in [6] which is equivalent to operad of framed disks in . This operad action realizes the Chas - Sullivan BV structure on H * (LM). We then describe a cosimplicial model of this ring spectrum, and by applying the singular cochain functor to this cosimplicial spectrum we show that this ring structure can be interpreted as the cup product in the Hochschild cohomology, HH * (C * (M); C * (M)). We use techniques from both real and complex algebraic geometry to study K-theoretic and related invariants of the algebra C(X) of continuous complex-valued functions on a compact Hausdorff topological space X. For example, we prove a parameterized version of a theorem by Joseph Gubeladze; we show that if M is a countable, abelian, cancellative, torsion-free, semi-normal monoid, and X is contractible, then every finitely generated projective module over C(X)[M] is free. The particular case gives a parameterized version of the celebrated theorem proved independently by Daniel Quillen and Andrei Suslin that finitely generated projective modules over a polynomial ring over a field are free. The conjecture of Jonathan Rosenberg which predicts the homotopy invariance of the negative algebraic K-theory of C(X) follows from the particular case . We also give algebraic conditions for a functor from commutative algebras to abelian groups to be homotopy invariant on C *-algebras, and for a homology theory of commutative algebras to vanish on C *-algebras. These criteria have numerous applications. For example, the vanishing criterion applied to nil K-theory implies that commutative C *-algebras are K-regular. As another application, we show that the familiar formulas of Hochschild–Kostant–Rosenberg and Loday–Quillen for the algebraic Hochschild and cyclic homology of the coordinate ring of a smooth algebraic variety remain valid for the algebraic Hochschild and cyclic homology of C(X). Applications to the conjectures of Beĭlinson-Soulé and Farrell–Jones are also given.  相似文献

Rational homotopy types of simply connected topological spaces have been classified by weak equivalence classes of commutative cochain algebras (Sullivan) and by isomorphism classes of minimal commutative A -algebras (Kadeishvili). We classify rational homotopy types of the space X by using the (noncommutative) singular cochain complex C*(X, Q), with additional structure given by the homotopies introduced by Baues, {E 1,k } and {F p,q}. We show that if we modify the resulting B -algebra structure on this algebra by requiring that its bar construction be a Hopf algebra up to a homotopy, then weak equivalence classes of such algebras classify rational homotopy types. __________ Translated from Sovremennaya Matematika i Ee Prilozheniya (Contemporary Mathematics and Its Applications), Vol. 43, Topology and Its Applications, 2006.  相似文献

A simply connected topological space X has homotopy Lie algebra π(ΩX)⊗Q. Following Quillen, there is a connected differential graded free Lie algebra (dgL) called a Lie model, which determines the rational homotopy type of X, and whose homology is isomorphic to the homotopy Lie algebra. We show that such a Lie model can be replaced with one that has a special property that we call being separated. The homology of a separated dgL has a particular form which lends itself to calculations.  相似文献

If C is a stable model category with a monoidal product then the set of homotopy classes of self-maps of the unit forms a commutative ring, [S,S]C. An idempotent e of this ring will split the homotopy category: [X,Y]Ce[X,Y]C⊕(1−e)[X,Y]C. We prove that provided the localised model structures exist, this splitting of the homotopy category comes from a splitting of the model category, that is, C is Quillen equivalent to LeSC×L(1−e)SC and [X,Y]LeSCe[X,Y]C. This Quillen equivalence is strong monoidal and is symmetric when the monoidal product of C is.  相似文献

Suppose thatX is a vector field on a manifoldM whose flow, exptX, exists for all time. If μ is a measure onM for which the induced measuresμ t ≡(exptX)* μ are absolutely continuous with respect to μ, it is of interest to establish bounds on theL p (μ) norm of the Radon-Nikodym derivative t /. We establish such bounds in terms of the divergence of the vector fieldX. We then specilizeM to be a complex manifold and derive reverse hypercontractivity bounds and reverse logarithmic Sololev inequalities in some holomorphic function spaces. We give examples onC m and on the Riemann surface forz 1/n . Research supported in part by CONACyT, Mexico, grant 32725-E. Research supported in part by CONACyT, Mexico, grant 32146-E.  相似文献

Summary.  We prove that the derivative of a differentiable family X t (a) of continuous martingales in a manifold M is a martingale in the tangent space for the complete lift of the connection in M, provided that the derivative is bicontinuous in t and a. We consider a filtered probability space (Ω,(ℱ t )0≤ t ≤1, ℙ) such that all the real martingales have a continuous version, and a manifold M endowed with an analytic connection and such that the complexification of M has strong convex geometry. We prove that, given an analytic family aL(a) of random variable with values in M and such that L(0)≡x 0M, there exists an analytic family aX(a) of continuous martingales such that X 1(a)=L(a). For this, we investigate the convexity of the tangent spaces T ( n ) M, and we prove that any continuous martingale in any manifold can be uniformly approximated by a discrete martingale up to a stopping time T such that ℙ(T<1) is arbitrarily small. We use this construction of families of martingales in complex analytic manifolds to prove that every ℱ1-measurable random variable with values in a compact convex set V with convex geometry in a manifold with a C 1 connection is reachable by a V-valued martingale. We give estimates of numerical homotopy invariants of the pair (X,X×S p ) in terms of homotopy invariants of X. More precisely, we prove that σ p +1 cat(X) + 1 ≤ cat(X,X×S p }), that and that e(X,X×S< p )=e(X)+1, where σ p +1 cat is the (relative) σ category of Vandembroucq and e is the (relative) Toomer invariant. The proof is based on an extension of Milnor's construction of the classifying space of a topological group to a relative setting (due to Dold and Lashof). We show that the Strong Novikov Conjecture for the maximal C*-algebra C*(π) of a discrete group π is equivalent to a statement in topological K-theory for which the corresponding statement in algebraic K-theory is always true. We also show that for any group π, rational injectivity of the full assembly map for K*t(C*(π)) follows from rational injectivity of the restricted assembly map. (Received: February 2006)  相似文献

Cohomologies of Lie algebras are usually calculated using the Chevalley-Eilenberg cochain complex of skew-symmetric forms. We consider two cochain complexes consisting of forms with some symmetric properties. First, cochains C*(L) are symmetric in the last 2 arguments, skew-symmetric in the others and satify moreover some kind of Jacobi condition in the last 3 arguments. In characteristic 0, its cohomologies are isomorphic to the cohomologies of the factor-complex C*(L,L’)/C*+1(L,K). Second, a symmetric version Cλ*(A) is defined for an associative algebra A. It is a subcomplex of the cyclic cochain complex. These symmetric cochain complexes are used for the calculation of 3-cohomologies of Cartan Type Lie algebras with trivial coefficients.  相似文献

For a ring R and a right R-module M, a submodule N of M is said to be δ-small in M if, whenever N+X=M with M/X singular, we have X=M. Let ℘ be the class of all singular simple modules. Then δ(M)=Σ{ LM| L is a δ-small submodule of M} = Re jm(℘)=∩{ NM: M/N∈℘. We call M δ-coatomic module whenever NM and M/N=δ(M/N) then M/N=0. And R is called right (left) δ-coatomic ring if the right (left) R-module R R(RR) is δ-coatomic. In this note, we study δ-coatomic modules and ring. We prove M=⊕ i=1 n Mi is δ-coatomic if and only if each M i (i=1,…, n) is δ-coatomic.  相似文献

We study the natural almost CR structure on the total space of a subbundle of hyperquadrics of the tangent bundle T(M) over a semi-Riemannian manifold (M, g) and show that if the Reeb vector ξ of an almost contact Riemannian manifold is a CR map then the natural almost CR structure on M is strictly pseudoconvex and a posteriori ξ is pseudohermitian. If in addition ξ is geodesic then it is a harmonic vector field. As an other application, we study pseudoharmonic vector fields on a compact strictly pseudoconvex CR manifold M, i.e. unit (with respect to the Webster metric associated with a fixed contact form on M) vector fields X ε H(M) whose horizontal lift X↑ to the canonical circle bundle S1 → C(M) → M is a critical point of the Dirichlet energy functional associated to the Fefferman metric (a Lorentz metric on C(M)). We show that the Euler–Lagrange equations satisfied by X project on a nonlinear system of subelliptic PDEs on M. Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000): 53C50, 53C25, 32V20  相似文献

Our main result is the construction of an embedding ofC(T2) into an approximately finite-dimensionalC *-algebra which induces an injection onK 0(C(T2)). The existence of this embedding implies that Cech cohomology cannot be extended to a stable, continuous homology theory forC *-algebras which admits a well-behaved Chern character. Homotopy properties ofC *-algebras are also considered. For example, we show that the second homotopy functor forC *-algebras is discontinuous. Similar embeddings are constructed for all the rational rotation algebras, with the consequence that none of the rational rotation algebras satisfies the homotopy property called semiprojectivity.  相似文献

Under a general hypothesis an expanding map T of a Riemannian manifold M is known to preserve a measure equivalent to the Liouville measure on that manifold. As a consequence of this and Birkhoff’s pointwise ergodic theorem, the orbits of almost all points on the manifold are asymptotically distributed with regard to this Liouville measure. Let T be Lipschitz of class τ for some τ in (0,1], let Ω(x) denote the forward orbit closure of x and for a positive real number δ and let E(x0, δ) denote the set of points x in M such that the distance from x0 to Ω is at least δ. Let dim A denote the Hausdorff dimension of the set A. In this paper we prove a result which implies that there is a constant C(T) > 0 such that dimE(x0,d) 3 dimM - \fracC(T)|logd| \dim E(x_0,\delta) \ge \dim M - \frac{C(T)}{\vert\!\log \delta \vert} if τ = 1 and dimE(x0,d) 3 dimM - \fracC(T)log|logd|\dim E(x_0,\delta) \ge \dim M - \frac{C(T)}{\log \vert \log \delta \vert} if τ < 1. This gives a quantitative converse to the above asymptotic distribution phenomenon. The result we prove is of sufficient generality that a similar result for expanding hyperbolic rational maps of degree not less than two follows as a special case.  相似文献

Let M be a 2m-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with Anosov geodesic flow. We prove that every closed bounded k form, k≥2, on the universal covering of M is d(bounded). Further, if M is homotopy equivalent to a compact K?hler manifold, then its Euler number χ(M) satisfies (−1) m χ(M)>0. Received: 25 September 2001 / Published Online: 16 October 2002  相似文献

The standard reduced bar complex B(A) of a differential graded algebra A inherits a natural commutative algebra structure if A is a commutative algebra. We address an extension of this construction in the context of E-infinity algebras. We prove that the bar complex of any E-infinity algebra can be equipped with the structure of an E-infinity algebra so that the bar construction defines a functor from E-infinity algebras to E-infinity algebras. We prove the homotopy uniqueness of such natural E-infinity structures on the bar construction. We apply our construction to cochain complexes of topological spaces, which are instances of E-infinity algebras. We prove that the n-th iterated bar complexes of the cochain algebra of a space X is equivalent to the cochain complex of the n-fold iterated loop space of X, under reasonable connectedness, completeness and finiteness assumptions on X.  相似文献

We construct a totally disconnected ω*, norming subsetF of the unit ballB * of an arbitrary separable Banach space,X, and an operator fromC(F) toC(B*) that “amost” commutes with the natural embeddings ofX. This is used to give a new proof of Milutin's theorem and to prove some new results on complemented subspaces ofC[0, 1] with separable dual. In particular we show that a complemented subspace ofCω), is either isomorphic toCω) or toc u.  相似文献

Let X be a non-singular complex projective curve of genus ≥3. Choose a point xX. Let Mx be the moduli space of stable bundles of rank 2 with determinant We prove that the Chow group CHQ1(Mx) of 1-cycles on Mx with rational coefficients is isomorphic to CHQ0(X). By studying the rational curves on Mx, it is not difficult to see that there exits a natural homomorphism CH0(J)→CH1(Mx) where J denotes the Jacobian of X. The crucial point is to show that this homomorphism induces a homomorphism CH0(X)→CH1(Mx), namely, to go from the infinite dimensional object CH0(J) to the finite dimensional object CH0(X). This is proved by relating the degeneration of Hecke curves on Mx to the second term I*2 of Bloch's filtration on CH0(J). Insong Choe was supported by KOSEF (R01-2003-000-11634-0).  相似文献

Let X 0 be a topological component of a nonsingular real algebraic variety and i:XX C is a nonsingular projective complexification of X. In this paper, we will study the homomorphism on homotopy groups induced by the inclusion map i:X 0X C and obtain several results using rational homotopy theory and other standard tools of homotopy theory.  相似文献
