The deactivation of H-ZSM-5 zeolite samples during coupled methanol/hydrocarbon cracking (CMHC) with n-butane as feed has been investigated in two different reaction modes (with intermediate regeneration and without regeneration). TPDA was used to characterize strong Brönsted acidity of fresh, regenerated and steamed H-ZSM-5 zeolite. The prevention of dealumination by blocking the acid centers with carbonaceous products could be proved, but the conversion rate of n-butane and the olefin selectivity declined drastically with increasing coking rate. Kinetic regularities of methylmercaptan production from dimethyl sulfide and H2S in the presence of -Al2O3 have been studied under gradientless conditions. A stepwise reaction mechanism is suggested implying that the catalyst surface is methoxylated by methyl sulfide and then CH3O groups interact with H2S. Quantum-chemical calculations of clusters modelling adsorption complexes on the -Al2O3 surface have been used to evaluate two points of view on the mechanism of surface dissociation of water molecules on this oxide. The kinetics of ligand substitution reactions of [Ru(H2dtpa) (H2O)] (2) (H2dtpa=diprotonated diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid) were studied as a function of ligand (L) concentration, pH (2.5–8.0) and temperature (30–45 °C) at 0.2 M ionic strength. The equilibrium constants for the formation of mixed ligand complex [RuIII(dtpa) (L)] (L=2-mercaptopyrimidine, cysteine) and the distribution of various species in solution in the pH range of 2.5–8.0 were computed from potentiometric results. Liquid-phase alkylation of p-tert-butylphenol (TBP) and p-cresol by olefins and benzyl chloride in the presence of solid heteropoly acids (HPA) H3PW12O40 and 25% H3PW12O40/SiO2 at 100–150°C provides high yields of mono- and disubstituted products. The oxidation of MnEDTA2–. (EDTA=ethylenediaminetetra-acetate) by hexachloroiridate(IV) has been studied in concentrated electrolyte solutions at 298 K. The estimation of the activity coefficients of the species from the Stokes-Robinson hydration theory indicates that the observed salt effects have their origin in a greater destabilization of the initial state with respect to the transition state when increasing salt concentration. Volumetric and pulse chemisorptions of carbon monoxide (CO) have been developed to characterize effects of Mn2+ cations on an industrial doubly promoted fused iron catalyst. Addition of Mn2+ cations induces an increase in Fe dispersity, Fe electronic density and stability of the Mn2+-containing iron catalyst, where the same increase is observed by XPS and SEM. Kinetic study of C2H4 polymerization on reduced V2O5/Al2O3 catalysts revealed that the rate equation can be expressed as V=k exp (-Y) KaPE/(1+KaPE) in the temperature range of –20 to 70°C. The thermal decomposition of ferrous sulphate heptahydrate was carried out in air under dynamic and isothermal conditions. The intermediate phases were identified by chemical analysis and an X-ray technique. Ferrous sulphate heptahydrate is converted to tetrahydrate and monohydrate, but this conversion is accompanied by oxidation. Fe(OH)SO4 and Fe2O(SO4)2 are formed as oxidation products, and the latter decomposes to ferric oxide directly and/or through Fe2(SO4)3.
Zusammenfassung Die thermische Zersetzung von Eisen(II)sulfat Heptahydrat wurde in Luft unter dynamischen und isothermen Bedingungen durchgeführt. Die Intermediärphasen wurden durch chemische Analyse und Röntgentechnik identifiziert. Eisen(II)sulfat Heptahydrat wird in Tetrahydrat und Monohydrat überführt, doch wird diese Umwandlung durch eine Oxidation begleitet. Fe(OH)SO4 und Fe2O(SO4)2 werden als Oxidationsprodukte gebildet und letzteres wird unmittelbar und/oder über Fe2(SO4)3 zu Eisen(III)oxid zersetzt.

Résumé La décomposition thermique dans l'air du sulfate de fer(II) heptahydraté a été étudiée en conditions dynamiques et isothermes. Les phases intermédiaires ont été identifiées par analyse chimique et par rayons X. Le sulfate de fer(II) heptahydraté se transforme en tétrahydrate et en monohydrate mais cette conversion s'accompagne d'une oxydation. Il se forme Fe(OH)SO4 et Fe2O(SO4)2 comme produits d'oxydation et ce dernier se décompose en oxyde de fer(III) directement ou quelquefois avec formation intermédiaire de Fe2(SO4)3.

The effect of two commercially available metal oxide curing agents, PbO2 and MnO2, on the cure time, kinetic parameters and ultimate tensile strength of the polysulphide polymer was investigated. The kinetic parameters for the thermal decomposition of the two systems were evaluated from their TG data. Both the energy of activation and pre-exponential factor showed a systematic increase with increase in cure and levelled off after the reaction. The cure time was also followed by determining the mechanical properties of the samples at regular intervals. The ultimate tensile strength values and the kinetic parameters follow similar trend with respect to the cure time. The kinetic parameters and the ultimate tensile strength for the PbO2 cured polysulphide system were on the higher side.
Zusammenfassung Es wurde der Einfluß von zwei im Handel erhältlichen Metalloxidhärtemitteln. PbO2 und MnO2, auf die Aushärtungszeit, die kinetischen Parameter und die Zugfestigkeit von Polysulfidpolymeren untersucht. Die kinetischen Parameter für die thermische Zersetzung der zwei Systeme wurden aus deren TG-Daten ermittelt. Sowohl die Aktivierungsenergie als auch der präexponentielle Faktor wachsen mit fortschreitender Aushärtung ständig an und erreichen nach Verlauf der Reaktion einen konstanten Wert. In gleichmäßigen Zeitabschnitten wurde die Aushärtungszeit auch durch Bestimmen der mechanischen Eigenschaften der Proben verfolgt. In Bezug auf die Aushärtungszeit zeigen die Zugfestigkeit und die kinetischen Parameter einen ähnlichen Verlauf. Die kinetischen Parameter und die Zugfestigkeit von mit PbO2 gehärteten Polysulfidsystemen zeigen bessere Werte.
