In this paper we present a recursion related to a nonlinear complementarity problem defined by a closed convex cone in a Hilbert space and a continuous mapping defined on the cone. If the recursion is convergent, then its limit is a solution of the nonlinear complementarity problem. In the case of isotone projection cones sufficient conditions are given for the mapping so that the recursion to be convergent.  相似文献

In this paper we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to multipoint boundary value problems for nonlinear ordinary differential equations. We consider the case where the solution space of the associated linear homogeneous boundary value problem is less than 2. When this solution space is trivial, we establish existence results via the Schauder Fixed Point Theorem. In the resonance case, we use a projection scheme to provide criteria for the solvability of our nonlinear boundary value problem. We accomplish this by analyzing a link between the behavior of the nonlinearity and the solution set of the associated linear homogeneous boundary value problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for the local uniqueness of solutions to nonsmooth variational inequalities where the underlying functions are H-differentiable and the underlying set is a closed convex set/polyhedral set/box/polyhedral cone. We show how the solution of a linearized variational inequality is related to the solution of the variational inequality. These results extend/unify various similar results proved for C 1 and locally Lipschitzian variational inequality problems. When specialized to the nonlinear complementarity problem, our results extend/unify those of C 2 and C 1 nonlinear complementarity problems.  相似文献

We study the notion of solution to an obstacle problem for a strongly monotone and Lipschitz operator A, when the forcing term is a bounded Radon measure. We obtain existence and uniqueness results. We study also some properties of the obstacle reactions associated with the solutions of the obstacle problems, obtaining the Lcwy­Stampacchia inequality. The work is concerned with three kinds of fourth-order impulsive differential equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. We at first focused on studying the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for these kinds of problems. By converting the problem to an equivalent integral equation, then applying the new class of fixed point theorems for the sum operator on cone, we obtain the sufficient conditions which not only guarantee the existence of a unique positive solution, but also be applied to construct two iterative sequences for approximating it. Further, we present the numerical methods for solving the fourth-order differential equations. At last, some examples are given with numerical verifications to illustrate the main results.  相似文献

It is shown that McCormick's second order sufficient optimality conditions are also necessary for a solution to a quadratic program to be locally unique and hence these conditions completely characterize a locally unique solution of any quadratic program. This result is then used to give characterizations of a locally unique solution to the linear complementarity problem. By considering the notion of regular exceptional family of elements (REFE), we define the class of REFE-acceptable mappings. By definition, a complementarity problem on a Hilbert space defined by a REFE-acceptable mapping and a closed convex cone has either a solution or a REFE. We present several classes of REFE-acceptable mappings. For this, neither the topological degree nor the Leray-Schauder alternative is necessary. By using the concept of REFE-acceptable mappings, we present necessary and sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of regular exceptional family of elements. These conditions are used for generating several existence theorems and existence and uniqueness theorems for complementarity problems. The authors are grateful to Prof. A.B. The Lyapunov-type least-squares problem over symmetric cone is to find the least-squares solution of the Lyapunov equation with a constraint of symmetric cone in the Euclidean Jordan algebra, and it contains the Lyapunov-type least-squares problem over cone of semidefinite matrices as a special case. In this paper, we first give a detailed analysis for the image of Lyapunov operator in the Euclidean Jordan algebra. Relying on these properties together with some characterizations of symmetric cone, we then establish some necessary and?or sufficient conditions for solution existence of the Lyapunov-type least-squares problem. We study convolution solutions of an abstract stochastic Cauchy problem with the generator of a convolution operator semigroup. In the case of additive noise, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a weak convolution solution; this solution is described by a formula generalizing the classical Cauchy formula in which the solution operators of the homogeneous problem are replaced by the convolution solution operators of the homogeneous problem. For the problem with multiplicative noise, we find a condition under which the weak convolution solution coincides with the soft solution and indicate a sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of a weak convolution solution; the latter can be obtained by the successive approximation method.  相似文献

We describe a general method that allows us to find solutions to homogeneous differential-operator equations with variable coefficients by means of continuous vector-valued functions. The “homogeneity” is not interpreted as the triviality of the right-hand side of an equation. It is understood in the sense that the left-hand side of an equation is a homogeneous function with respect to operators appearing in that equation. Solutions are represented as functional vector-valued series which are uniformly convergent and generated by solutions to a kth order ordinary differential equation, by the roots of the characteristic polynomial and by elements of a locally convex space. We find sufficient conditions for the continuous dependence of the solution on a generating set. We also solve the Cauchy problem for the considered equations and specify conditions for the existence and the uniqueness of the solution. Moreover, under certain hypotheses we find the general solution to the considered equations. It is a function which yields any particular solution. The investigation is realized by means of characteristics of operators such as the order and the type of an operator, as well as operator characteristics of vectors, namely, the operator order and the operator type of a vector relative to an operator. We also use a convergence of operator series with respect to an equicontinuous bornology.  相似文献

We reduce the Cauchy problem for a heat equation with the nonlinear right-hand side which depends on some functionals to an equivalent integral equation. Considering mainly Banach spaces of continuous, bounded and exponentially bounded functions, we give some natural sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions to these equations. We give a counterexample which shows that the Lipschitz condition is, in general, insufficient for the Cauchy problem with unbounded data and with functional dependence to guarantee an existence result  相似文献

A popular approach to solving the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) is to reformulate it as the global minimization of a certain merit function over ℝn. A popular choice of the merit function is the squared norm of the Fischer-Burmeister function, shown to be smooth over ℝn and, for monotone NCP, each stationary point is a solution of the NCP. This merit function and its analysis were subsequently extended to the semidefinite complementarity problem (SDCP), although only differentiability, not continuous differentiability, was established. In this paper, we extend this merit function and its analysis, including continuous differentiability, to the second-order cone complementarity problem (SOCCP). Although SOCCP is reducible to a SDCP, the reduction does not allow for easy translation of the analysis from SDCP to SOCCP. Instead, our analysis exploits properties of the Jordan product and spectral factorization associated with the second-order cone. We also report preliminary numerical experience with solving DIMACS second-order cone programs using a limited-memory BFGS method to minimize the merit function. In this paper, we study quadratic complementarity problems, which form a subclass of nonlinear complementarity problems with the nonlinear functions being quadratic polynomial mappings. Quadratic complementarity problems serve as an important bridge linking linear complementarity problems and nonlinear complementarity problems. Various properties on the solution set for a quadratic complementarity problem, including existence, compactness and uniqueness, are studied. Several results are established from assumptions given in terms of the comprising matrices of the underlying tensor, henceforth easily checkable. Examples are given to demonstrate that the results improve or generalize the corresponding quadratic complementarity problem counterparts of the well-known nonlinear complementarity problem theory and broaden the boundary knowledge of nonlinear complementarity problems as well.  相似文献

Nagurney (1999) used variational inequalities to study economic equilibrium and financial networks and applied the modified projection method to solve the problem. In this paper, we formulate the problem as a nonlinear complementarity problem. The complementarity model is just the KKT condition for the model of Nagurney (1999). It is a simpler model than that of Nagurney (1999). We also establish sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium pattern, which are weaker than those in Nagurney (]999). Finally, we apply a smoothing Newton-type algorithm to solve the problem and report some numerical results.  相似文献

We derive conditions for the local uniqueness of solutions of nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP). We then prove the existence, continuity, and directional differentiability of a locally unique parametric solution of the parametric NCP under stronger assumptions. We discuss the propagation of heat along a homogeneous rod of length A under the influence of a nonlinear heat source and impulsive effects at fixed times. This problem is described by an initial-boundary value problem for a nonlinear parabolic partial differential equation subjected to impulsive effects at fixed times. Using Green's function, we convert the problem into a nonlinear integral equation. Sufficient conditions are provided that enable the application of fixed point theorems to prove existence and uniqueness of solutions.  相似文献
