Chemical composition of the oleoresin ofLarix kamtschatica

The chemical composition of the oleoresin of the Kamchatka larch has been studied. Mono-, sesqui-, and diterpenoids have been found in it. The monoterpenes were represented by nine components (the main one being 3-carene), and among the sesquiterpene hydrocarbons -element, longifolene, and germacrene D predominated. The main oxygen-containing diterpenoid was larixyl acetate. Conclusions 1. From the neutral fraction of the oleoresin ofPinus sibirica R. Mayr have been isolated new macrocyclic diterpene compounds-isocembrene (I) and isocembrol (VI).2. Extractive substances ofLarix dahurica

Summary The quantitative determination of quercetin and dihydroquercetin in the total flavonoids ofLatrix dahurica has been effected by the use of thin-layer chromatography on Kapron for separating the mixture with subsequent elution of the spots and colorimetry of the eluates obtained. The methanol-dimethylformamide (1:1) system was used as the eluate. It has been found that the flavonoids of the heartwood ofLatrix dahurica contain a predominating amount, 69% of dihydroquercetin, the amount of quercetin being 11%.Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, Vol. 3, No. 5, pp. 298–301, 1967     

The neutral substances of the oleoresin ofAbies sibirica

Summary The high-boiling neutral fraction of the oleoresin ofAbies sibirica Ldb. contains abientol C₂₀H₃₄O, abietinal C₂₀H₃₀O, abietinol C₂₀H₃₂O, a polymer (C₂₀H₃₄O)₄, and two previously unknown compounds: a diterpene alcohol C₂₀H₃₄O, which we have called isoabienol, and a hydroxyketone C₁₈H₃₀O₂.
