We propose a novel power penalty approach to a Nonlinear Complementarity Problem (NCP) in which the NCP is approximated by a nonlinear equation containing a power penalty term. We show that the solution to the penalty equation converges to that of the NCP at an exponential rate when the function involved is continuous and ξ-monotone. A higher convergence rate is also obtained when the function becomes Lipschitz continuous. Numerical results are presented to confirm the theoretical findings.  相似文献

In this paper, a minimax theorem and a saddle point theorem are obtained for vector-valued functions in the sense of lexicographic order, respectively. An equivalent relationship between the minimax inequality and the saddle point is established. Some examples are given to illustrate our results.  相似文献

A graph G is Eulerian-connected if for any u and v in V(G), G has a spanning (u,v)-trail. A graph G is edge-Eulerian-connected if for any e and e in E(G), G has a spanning (e,e)-trail. For an integer r?0, a graph is called r-Eulerian-connected if for any XE(G) with |X|?r, and for any , G has a spanning (u,v)-trail T such that XE(T). The r-edge-Eulerian-connectivity of a graph can be defined similarly. Let θ(r) be the minimum value of k such that every k-edge-connected graph is r-Eulerian-connected. Catlin proved that θ(0)=4. We shall show that θ(r)=4 for 0?r?2, and θ(r)=r+1 for r?3. Results on r-edge-Eulerian connectivity are also discussed.  相似文献

Given a graph G, a function f:V(G)→{1,2,…,k} is a k-ranking of G if f(u)=f(v) implies every u-v path contains a vertex w such that f(w)>f(u). A k-ranking is minimal if the reduction of any label greater than 1 violates the described ranking property. The arank number of a graph, denoted ψr(G), is the largest k such that G has a minimal k-ranking. We present new results involving minimal k-rankings of paths. In particular, we determine ψr(Pn), a problem posed by Laskar and Pillone in 2000.  相似文献

We show that if G is a graph such that every edge is in at least two triangles, then G contains a spanning tree with no vertex of degree 2 (a homeomorphically irreducible spanning tree). This result was originally asked in a question format by Albertson, Berman, Hutchinson, and Thomassen in 1979, and then conjectured to be true by Archdeacon in 2009.  相似文献

Every graph G contains a minimum vertex-coloring with the property that at least one color class of the coloring is a maximal independent set (equivalently, a dominating set) in G. Among all such minimum vertex-colorings of the vertices of G, a coloring with the maximum number of color classes that are dominating sets in G is called a dominating-χ-coloring of G. The number of color classes that are dominating sets in a dominating-χ-coloring of G is defined to be the dominating-χ-color number of G. In this paper, we continue to investigate the dominating-χ-color number of a graph first defined and studied in [1].  相似文献

An edge cut W of a connected graph G is a k-restricted edge cut if GW is disconnected, and every component of GW has at least k vertices. The k-restricted edge connectivity is defined as the minimum cardinality over all k-restricted edge cuts. A permutation graph is obtained by taking two disjoint copies of a graph and adding a perfect matching between the two copies. The k-restricted edge connectivity of a permutation graph is upper bounded by the so-called minimum k-edge degree. In this paper some sufficient conditions guaranteeing optimal k-restricted edge connectivity and super k-restricted edge connectivity for permutation graphs are presented for k=2,3.  相似文献

In this paper we study translation-invariant maps on a linear space. A method for estimating quantities induced by such maps is presented. Applications for differences of operators, commutators, G-contractive maps and Grüss type inequalities are also given.  相似文献

We consider the complexity of the maximum (maximum weight) independent set problem within triangle graphs, i.e., graphs G satisfying the following triangle condition: for every maximal independent set I in G and every edge uv in GI, there is a vertex wI such that {u,v,w} is a triangle in G. We also introduce a new graph parameter (the upper independent neighborhood number) and the corresponding upper independent neighborhood set problem. We show that for triangle graphs the new parameter is equal to the independence number. We prove that the problems under consideration are NP-complete, even for some restricted subclasses of triangle graphs, and provide several polynomially solvable cases for these problems within triangle graphs. Furthermore, we show that, for general triangle graphs, the maximum independent set problem and the upper independent neighborhood set problem cannot be polynomially approximated within any fixed constant factor greater than one unless P=NP.  相似文献

We shall present several Hanner type inequalities with a weight constant and characterize 2-uniformly smooth and 2-uniformly convex Banach spaces with these inequalities. p-Uniformly smooth and q-uniformly convex Banach spaces will be also characterized with another Hanner type inequalities with a weight in the other side term. The best value of the weight in these inequalities will be determined for Lp spaces. Also we shall present a duality theorem between these inequalities in a generalized form.  相似文献

The generalized Turán number ex(G,H) of two graphs G and H is the maximum number of edges in a subgraph of G not containing H. When G is the complete graph Km on m vertices, the value of ex(Km,H) is , where o(1)→0 as m→∞, by the Erd?s-Stone-Simonovits theorem. In this paper we give an analogous result for triangle-free graphs H and pseudo-random graphs G. Our concept of pseudo-randomness is inspired by the jumbled graphs introduced by Thomason [A. Thomason, Pseudorandom graphs, in: Random Graphs '85, Poznań, 1985, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1987, pp. 307-331. MR 89d:05158]. A graph G is (q,β)-bi-jumbled if

By virtue of Shukla's well-known bilateral summation formula and Watson's transfor-mation formula, we extend the four-variable generalization of Ramanujan's reciprocity theorem due to Andrews to a six-variable one. Some novel variants of Ramanujan's reciprocity theorem and q-series identities are presented.  相似文献

We give the Ramsey number for a disjoint union of some G-good graphs versus a graph G generalizing the results of Stahl (1975) [5] and Baskoro et al. (2006) [1] and the previous result of the author Bielak (2009) [2]. Moreover, a family of G-good graphs with s(G)>1 is presented.  相似文献

We consider the main notions of G-quasiasymptotic (G-q.a.) analysis: G-q.a. behavior at zero, G-q.a. expansion at infinity, Sc-asymptotic and boundedness, Sc-expansion at infinity and their applications to the asymptotic behavior of the solution to some types of nonlinear PDEs in Colombeau algebra of generalized functions G.  相似文献

Linguists often represent the relationships between words in a collection of text as an undirected graph G=(V,E), where V is the vocabulary and vertices are adjacent in G if and only if the words that they represent co-occur in a relevant pattern in the text. Ideally, the words with similar meanings give rise to the vertices of a component of the graph. However, many words have several distinct meanings, preventing components from characterizing distinct semantic fields. This paper examines how the structural properties of triangular line graphs motivate the use of a clustering coefficient on the triangular line graph, thereby helping to identify polysemous words. The triangular line graph of G, denoted by T(G), is the subgraph of the line graph of G where two vertices are adjacent if the corresponding edges in G belong to a K3.  相似文献

A biclique B of a simple graph G is the edge-set of a complete bipartite subgraph of G. A biclique cover of G is a collection of bicliques covering the edge-set of G. Given a graph G, we will study the following problem: find the minimum number of bicliques which cover the edge-set of G. This problem will be called the minimum biclique cover problem (MBC). First, we will define the families of independent and dependent sets of the edge-set E(G) of G: FE(G) will be called independent if there exists a biclique BE(G) such that FB, and will be called dependent otherwise. From our study of minimal dependent sets we will derive a 0-1 linear programming formulation of the following problem: find the maximum weighted biclique in a graph. This formulation may have an exponential number of constraints with respect to the number of nodes of G but we will prove that the continuous relaxation of this integer program can be solved in polynomial time. Finally we will also study continuous relaxation methods for the problem (MBC). This research was motivated by an open problem of Fishburn and Hammer.  相似文献

Inspired by the classic γ-spline, we propose a method for constructing a G2 rational γ-spline curve that interpolates a given set of distinct ordered data-points (planar or spatial). The only input of our method is just these data-points. We also present a procedure to solve the key problem of determining the tension parameters γi which are computed in terms of exponential functions that determine the eccentricities of the common conic osculants at the junction points while keeping in geometrical agreement with data-points. This allows the resulting curve to be modified in the close vicinity of each data-point.  相似文献
