On a partially ordered set G the orthogonality relation is defined by incomparability and is a complete orthocomplemented lattice of double orthoclosed sets. We will prove that the atom space of the lattice has the same order structure as G. Thus if G is a partially ordered set (an ordered group, or an ordered vector space), then is a canonically partially ordered set (an ordered quotient group, or an ordered quotient vector space, respectively). We will also prove: if G is an ordered group with a positive cone P, then the lattice has the covering property iff , where g is an element of G and M is the intersection of all maximal subgroups contained in . On a non-trivial partially ordered real vector space V the orthogonality relation is defined by incomparability and is a complete lattice of double orthoclosed sets. In an earlier paper we defined an integrally open ordered vector space V and proved orthomodularity of . We shall say that is an orthogonal set when for all with , we have . We consider two different closure operations and (ortho and causal closure) and prove: V is integrally open iff for every orthogonal set . Hence follows: if V is integrally open, then . Let L and M be Archimedean vector lattices such that and are complex vector lattices. We constructively and intrinsically prove that if is an order bounded disjointness preserving operator from into then the modulus

It is shown that an algebraic frame L is regular if and only if its compact elements are complemented. More generally, it is shown that each pseudocomplemented element is regular if and only if each , with c compact, is complemented. With a mild assumption on L, each , with c compact, is regular precisely when for any two minimal primes p and q of L. These results are then interpreted in various frames of subobjects of lattice-ordered groups and f-rings.  相似文献

Let V be a vector space over a global field k, g an element of the adele group and Hg the twisted height defined on the k-subspaces of V . In this paper, we consider a complete noncompact n-submanifold M with parallel mean curvature vector h in an Euclidean space. If M has finite total curvature, we prove that M must be minimal, so that M is an affine n-plane if it is strongly stable. This is a generalization of the result on strongly stable complete hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature in Received: 30 June 2005  相似文献

Let L be the function field of a projective space over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic zero, and H be the group of projective transformations. An H-sheaf on is a collection of isomorphisms for each gH satisfying the chain rule. We construct, for any n > 1, a fully faithful functor from the category of finite-dimensional L-semilinear representations of H extendable to the semigroup End(L/k) to the category of coherent H-sheaves on The paper is motivated by a study of admissible representations of the automorphism group G of an algebraically closed extension of k of countable transcendence degree undertaken in [4]. The semigroup End(L/k) is considered as a subquotient of G, hence the condition on extendability. In the appendix it is shown that, if is either H, or a bigger subgroup in the Cremona group (generated by H and a certain pair of involutions), then any semilinear of degree one is an integral L-tensor power of It is also shown that this bigger subgroup has no non-trivial representations of finite degree if n > 1.  相似文献

A group G   is called hereditarily non-topologizable if, for every H?GH?G, no quotient of H admits a non-discrete Hausdorff topology. We construct first examples of infinite hereditarily non-topologizable groups. This allows us to prove that c-compactness does not imply compactness for topological groups. We also answer several other open questions about c-compact groups asked by Dikranjan and Uspenskij. On the other hand, we suggest a method of constructing topologizable groups based on generic properties in the space of marked k-generated groups. As an application, we show that there exist non-discrete quasi-cyclic groups of finite exponent; this answers a question of Morris and Obraztsov.  相似文献

A ring is clean if every element is the sum of a unit and an idempotent. Let be a dense local subring of the reals which is not a field. We show that the ring of A-valued continuous functions on a zero-dimensional space X is clean if and only if X is a P-space, and examine some properties of the prime ideal spectrum of this ring. For a large class of -unital C *-algebras A with real rank zero and stable rank one, the structure of the Grothendieck group k 0 of the multiplier algebra (A) is investigated. The ordered group K 0( (A)) is shown to be an unperforated Riesz group, and its additive structure is completely determined, as is — in important cases — its order structure. These structures, and the attendant consequences for the ideal structure of (A), are richer than previously anticipated. In particular, it is shown that the corona algebra (A)/A can have very large stably finite quotient algebras. For example, there exist simple, separable, approximately finite-dimensional C *-algebras A such that the maximal stably finite quotient algebra of (A)/A has uncountably many maximal ideals modulo which a W *-factor of Type II1 results. The analysis of the additive structure of K 0( (A)) yields as a byproduct that if A is a -unital approximately finite-dimensional C *-algebra without nonzero unital quotient algebras, then all quasitraces on (A) are traces. This research was partially supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

Properties of several sorts of lattices of convex subsets of are examined. The lattice of convex sets containing the origin turns out, for n > 1, to satisfy a set of identities strictly between those of the lattice of all convex subsets of and the lattice of all convex subsets of The lattices of arbitrary, of open bounded, and of compact convex sets in all satisfy the same identities, but the last of these is join-semidistributive, while for n > 1 the first two are not. The lattice of relatively convex subsets of a fixed set satisfies some, but in general not all of the identities of the lattice of “genuine” convex subsets of To the memory of Ivan RivalReceived April 22, 2003; accepted in final form February 16, 2005.This revised version was published online in August 2005 with a corrected cover date.  相似文献

If P is a directed partially ordered algebra of an appropriate sort-e.g. an upper semilattice-and has no maximal element, then P has two disjoint subalgebras each cofinal in P. In fact, if P has cofinality then there exists a family of such disjoint subalgebras. A version of this result is also proved without the directedness assumption, in which the cofinality of P is replaced by an invariant which we call its global cofinality. This work was done while the first author was partly supported by NSF contract MCS 82-02632.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to define the localization MV-algebra of an MV-algebra A with respect to a topology on A; also, following the categorical equivalence between the category of lu-groups and the category of MV-algebras, we define the analogous notion for lu-groups. In Section 5 we prove that the maximal MV-algebra of quotients (defined in [7]) and the MV-algebra of fractions relative to an -closed system (defined in [6]) are MV-algebras of localization. In the last part of this paper (Section 6) we prove analogous results for lu-groups.  相似文献

Let be aC-lattice which is strong join principally generated. In this paper, we consider prime elements of for which every semiprimary element is primary. We show, for example, that a compact nonmaximal primep with this property is principal. We also show that if every primepm has this property, then is either a one dimensional domain or a primary lattice. It follows that if every primep satisfies the property, and if there are only a finite number of minimal primes in , then is the finite direct product of one-dimensional domains and primary lattices.  相似文献

It is shown that the Hilbert geometry (D, hD) associated to a bounded convex domain is isometric to a normed vector space if and only if D is an open n-simplex. One further result on the asymptotic geometry of Hilbert’s metric is obtained with corollaries for the behavior of geodesics. Finally we prove that every geodesic ray in a Hilbert geometry converges to a point of the boundary.  相似文献

In classical topology it is proved, nonconstructively, that for a topological space X, every bounded Riesz map ϕ in C(X) is of the form for a point xX. In this paper our main objective is to give the pointfree version of this result. In fact, we constructively represent each real Riesz map on a compact frame M by prime elements. For a Hall system of a finite solvable group G, it is known that the set of -permutable subgroups is a sublattice of the subgroup lattice of G. We investigate the class SPM of groups in which the lattice is modular. We prove that if is modular, then U V for all (an evidently stronger condition). Both of these phenomena—the modularity of and whether two -permutable subgroups U and V permute with each other—are shown to be determined locally, by what happens at each prime. The class SPM is shown to be quotient closed, but not direct product or subgroup closed. This revised electronic version of the Abstract includes the formulas that were missing in the previous electronic version published online in September 2004.  相似文献

When G is a finite nonabelian group, we associate the common-divisor graph with G by letting nontrivial degrees in cd(G) = {χ(1) | χ∈Irr(G)} be the vertices and making distinct vertices adjacent if they have a common nontrivial divisor. A set of vertices for this graph is said to be strongly connective for cd(G) if there is some prime which divides every member of , and every vertex outside of is adjacent to some member of . When G is nonsolvable, we provide sufficiency conditions for cd(G) to have a strongly connective subset. We also extend a previously known result about groups with nonabelian solvable quotients, and prove for arbitrary groups G that if the associated graph is connected and has a diameter bounded by 2, then indeed cd(G) has a strongly connective subset. The major focus is on when the derived subgroup G′ is perfect. Received: 23 July 2005  相似文献
