In this paper we study sequences of matrix polynomials that satisfy a non-symmetric recurrence relation. To study this kind of sequences we use a vector interpretation of the matrix orthogonality. In the context of these sequences of matrix polynomials we introduce the concept of the generalized matrix Nevai class and we give the ratio asymptotics between two consecutive polynomials belonging to this class. We study the generalized matrix Chebyshev polynomials and we deduce its explicit expression as well as we show some illustrative examples. The concept of a Dirac delta functional is introduced. We show how the vector model that includes a Dirac delta functional is a representation of a discrete Sobolev inner product. It also allows to reinterpret such perturbations in the usual matrix Nevai class. Finally, the relative asymptotics between a polynomial in the generalized matrix Nevai class and a polynomial that is orthogonal to a modification of the corresponding matrix measure by the addition of a Dirac delta functional is deduced.  相似文献

We investigate the asymptotic properties of orthogonal polynomials for a class of inner products including the discrete Sobolev inner products $\left\langle {h,{\text{ }}g} \right\rangle = \int h g d\mu + \sum {_{j = 1}^m } \sum {_{i = 0}^{N_j } M_{j,i} h^{(i)} (c_j )} g^{(i)} (c_j )$ , where μ is a certain type of complex measure on the real line, andc j are complex numbers in the complement of supp(μ). The Sobolev orthogonal polynomials are compared with the orthogonal polynomials corresponding to the measure μ.  相似文献

Let and be such systems of orthonormal polynomials on the unit circle that the recurrence coefficients of the perturbed polynomials behave asymptotically like those of . We give, under weak assumptions on the system and the perturbations, comparative asymptotics as for etc., , on the open unit disk and on the circumference mainly off the support of the measure with respect to which the 's are orthonormal. In particular these results apply if the comparative system has a support which consists of several arcs of the unit circumference, as in the case when the recurrence coefficients are (asymptotically) periodic.

Rakhmanov's theorem for orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle gives a sufficient condition on the orthogonality measure for orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle, in order that the reflection coefficients (the recurrence coefficients in the Szegő recurrence relation) converge to zero. In this paper we give the analog for orthogonal matrix polynomials on the unit circle.  相似文献

In this paper we present some results concerning the zeros of sequences of polynomials orthogonal with respect to a quasi-definite inner product on the unit circle. We study zero general properties, the existence of sequences with prefixed zeros and some situations concerning the polynomials with multiple zeros.  相似文献

We consider asymptotics of orthogonal polynomials with respect to weights w(x)dx = eQ(x) dx on the real line, where Q(x) = Σ qk xk, q2m > 0, denotes a polynomial of even order with positive leading coefficient. The orthogonal polynomial problem is formulated as a Riemann‐Hilbert problem following [22, 23]. We employ the steepest‐descent‐type method introduced in [18] and further developed in [17, 19] in order to obtain uniform Plancherel‐Rotach‐type asymptotics in the entire complex plane, as well as asymptotic formulae for the zeros, the leading coefficients, and the recurrence coefficients of the orthogonal polynomials. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Two index formulas for operators defined by infinite band matrices are proved. These results may be interpreted as a generalization of a classical theorem of M. G. Krein on orthogonal polynomials. The proofs are based on dichotomy and nonstationary inertia theory.Dedicated to the memory of M. G. Avila recently introduced a new method for the study of the discrete Schrödinger operator with limit-periodic potential. I adapt this method to the context of orthogonal polynomials in the unit circle with limit-periodic Verblunsky coefficients. Specifically, I represent these two-sided Verblunsky coefficients as a continuous sampling of the orbits of a Cantor group by a minimal translation. I then investigate the measures that arise on the unit circle as I vary the sampling function. I show that generically the spectrum is a Cantor set and we have empty point spectrum. Furthermore, there exists a dense set of sampling functions for which the corresponding spectrum is a Cantor set of positive Lebesgue measure, and all corresponding spectral measures are purely absolutely continuous.  相似文献

In this paper we characterize sequences of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle whose corresponding Carathéodory function satisfies a Riccati differential equation with polynomial coefficients, in terms of second order matrix differential equations. In the semi-classical case, a characterization in terms of second order linear differential equations with polynomial coefficients is deduced.  相似文献

We consider asymptotics for orthogonal polynomials with respect to varying exponential weights wn(x)dx = enV(x) dx on the line as n → ∞. The potentials V are assumed to be real analytic, with sufficient growth at infinity. The principle results concern Plancherel‐Rotach‐type asymptotics for the orthogonal polynomials down to the axis. Using these asymptotics, we then prove universality for a variety of statistical quantities arising in the theory of random matrix models, some of which have been considered recently in [31] and also in [4]. An additional application concerns the asymptotics of the recurrence coefficients and leading coefficients for the orthonormal polynomials (see also [4]). The orthogonal polynomial problem is formulated as a Riemann‐Hilbert problem following [19, 20]. The Riemann‐Hilbert problem is analyzed in turn using the steepest‐descent method introduced in [12] and further developed in [11, 13]. A critical role in our method is played by the equilibrium measure V for V as analyzed in [8]. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Let μ be a finite positive Borel measure with compact support consisting of an interval plus a set of isolated points in , such that μ>0 almost everywhere on [c,d]. Let , be a sequence of polynomials, , with real coefficients whose zeros lie outside the smallest interval containing the support of μ. We prove ratio and relative asymptotics of sequences of orthogonal polynomials with respect to varying measures of the form dμ/w2n. In particular, we obtain an analogue for varying measures of Denisov's extension of Rakhmanov's theorem on ratio asymptotics. These results on varying measures are applied to obtain ratio asymptotics for orthogonal polynomials with respect to fixed measures on the unit circle and for multi-orthogonal polynomials in which the measures involved are of the type described above.  相似文献

We derive asymptotics for polynomials orthogonal over the complex unit disk with respect to a weight of the form 2|h(z)|, with h(z) a polynomial without zeros in |z|<1. The behavior of the polynomials is established at every point of the complex plane. The proofs are based on adapting to the unit disk a technique of J. Szabados for the asymptotic analysis of polynomials orthogonal over the unit circle with respect to the same type of weight.  相似文献

The connection of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle to the defocusing Ablowitz–Ladik integrable system involves the definition of a Poisson structure on the space of Verblunsky coefficients. In this paper, we compute the complete set of Poisson brackets for the monic orthogonal and the orthonormal polynomials on the unit circle, as well as for the second kind polynomials and the Wall polynomials. This answers a question posed by Cantero and Simon (J Approx Theory 158(1):3–48, 2009), for the case of measures with finite support. We also show that the results hold for the case of measures with periodic Verblunsky coefficients.  相似文献

We consider the asymptotic behavior of the ratios qn+1(z)/qn(z) of polynomials orthonormal with respect to some positive measure μ. Let the recurrence coefficients n and βn converge to 0 and , respectively. Then, qn+1(z)/qn(z) Φ(z),for n→∞ locally uniformly for , where Φ maps conformally onto the exterior of the unit disc (Nevai (1979)). We provide a new and direct proof for this and some related results due to Nevai, and apply it to convergence acceleration of diagonal Padé approximants.  相似文献

Consider ergodic orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle whose Verblunsky coefficients are given by αn(ω)=λV(Tnω), where T is an expanding map of the circle and V is a C1 function. Following the formalism of [Jean Bourgain, Wilhelm Schlag, Anderson localization for Schrödinger operators on Z with strongly mixing potentials, Comm. Math. Phys. 215 (2000) 143-175; Victor Chulaevsky, Thomas Spencer, Positive Lyapunov exponents for a class of deterministic potentials, Comm. Math. Phys. 168 (1995) 455-466], we show that the Lyapunov exponent γ(z) obeys a nice asymptotic expression for λ>0 small and z∈∂D?{±1}. In particular, this yields sufficient conditions for the Lyapunov exponent to be positive. Moreover, we also prove large deviation estimates and Hölder continuity for the Lyapunov exponent.  相似文献
